Sony State of Play Watch Along With Game Informer

2 years 6 months ago

The year is winding down, but that doesn't mean some of the biggest companies in the industry don't have a few announcements to make. Sony is the latest publisher to announce a new digital showcase in today's State of Play, and as always, what's a live event without your friends at Game Informer? We're watching along live today starting at 3:45 p.m. CT, and we hope you join us for all the fun.

As with most State of Play showcases, we know very little about what we're actually going to see today, but that doesn't mean we aren't in for a treat. Sony has confirmed that the games we will see today are of the third-party variety that will be coming to both PlayStation 4 and PS5 at some point. But that's not at all, as the PlayStation Twitter account also tweeted that we're going to finally get another look at Little Devil Inside. Developer Neostream Interactive's quirky-looking survival title was one of the games that stole the show during its announcement on the Sony digital stage last year and has since disappeared as the studio continues the game's development. It's exciting to finally see Little Devil Inside, but what else will be there at today's showcase, and who will be there to watch it?

Ubisoft Announces New Ghost Recon Breakpoint Campaign Called Operation Motherland, Coming Next Month

2 years 6 months ago

Ubisoft announced Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Frontline earlier this month, a massive PvP shooter, leading many to believe that Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint had reached its end, but it seems there’s still some ammo left in Breakpoint’s magazine.

That ammo is called Operation Motherland, and it’s basically a brand new campaign for Breakpoint coming out November 2. Set a few months after the end of the original story, Nomad is no longer on Auroa but now the island has become a strategic target for multiple countries interested in making it their own.

Apple Music Is Now On PlayStation 5

2 years 6 months ago

A colossal player in the realm of music is making its app debut on PlayStation 5 today. You may have heard of it. It’s a little service called Apple Music.

Announced on the PlayStation Blog today, the release of Apple Music on the PS5 makes Sony’s flagship gaming device the very first console “to introduce an integrated Apple Music experience.” You’re not limited to just the collection of music you’ve purchased over the years. The app features all of Apple Music's music curation, playlists, and radio stations, but sadly doesn't include podcasts. Here’s what users can expect from the Apple Music app:

“Starting today, PS5 users with an Apple Music subscription can enjoy more than 90 million songs from Apple Music, tens of thousands of curated playlists, music videos in 4K, Apple Music Radio streaming today’s hits, classics, and country live, and personalized playlists based on your music preferences.”

All of the music can be listened to in the background while playing games, so if you want to turn a game’s music down and make your own playlist, in a way, you can. Or by finding the Music Function card on the PS5 Control Center, Apple Music subscribers can “find recommendations that match the game they are currently playing, or choose from a playlist in their library or other Apple Music-curated playlists for gaming.”

Can my Darkest Dungeon 2 party please shut up for five minutes

2 years 6 months ago

In time, you will know the tragic extent of my failings, but in Darkest Dungeon 2 goodness me you'll hear about everyone's failings constantly. The horrific dungeon-crawling sequel entered early access yesterday, and my initial impression is that I'm surrounded by squabbling children. Managing the stress of your heroes is more important than ever, because if anyone is even mildly irked they will interrupt every fight to shout about how their squadmate is a kill-stealing dick. I'm this close to turning the stagecoach back around and embracing the impending apocalypse.

Over 6 Million People Have Played Back 4 Blood In Less Than Three Weeks

2 years 6 months ago

Back 4 Blood appears to be a success for Turtle Rock Studios, as over 6 million people have played it since its launch on October 12.

Developed by some developers that created the Left 4 Dead franchise that Back 4 Blood is very clearly inspired by, it tasks players with cleaning up the Ridden, which are basically zombies. There are all different sorts of Ridden to take out across its multiple acts. It seems many people are enjoying being a part of the Ridden cleanup crew, too.

Thanks for all your hard work, Cleaners! With this many Cleaners on our side, we'll stop the Ridden in no time.

All I want for spook month is more classic survival horror

2 years 6 months ago

Listen. Outside your window, the chill wind chuckles in raspy glee at autumn’s death rattle. The branches of dying trees rake their gnarled fingers against the glass. You are spooked. You turn to the warm glow of your monitor for comfort. Instead, you find the most terrifying thing imaginable: an unpopular opinion about a videogame. On the internet, no less. You blink and rub your eyes in disbelief. Still, the words remain. Stark. Unforgiving. Undeniably spicy: “Resident Evil Village was disappointing and its success does not bode well for the future of survival horror.”

You go to type a comment but, uh, your fingers are gone, or something. Just hear me out.

2 years 6 months ago

Apple Music has officially launched for the PlayStation 5, making it the first console to feature the music streaming service since Apple launched it.

As announced in an article on the PlayStation Blog, starting today PlayStation users with an Apple Music subscription will be able to stream music directly from their PlayStation 5.

Through the Apple Music app, players will be able to listen to music both in the PlayStation 5 menus and during gameplay. According to the blog post, in addition to being able to listen to their own playlists and over 90 million different songs, Apple Music subscribers will also be able to find recommendations for playlists that match the games they're currently playing as well as a range of music videos that can be streamed in 4k.
