Kena: Bridge Of Spirits Adds A Mini Halloween Update

2 years 5 months ago

While Kena: Bridge of Spirits' central narrative is already quite appropriate for Halloween on its own, the action-adventure game has added a mini Halloween scavenger hunt as part of its latest patch--along with the usual fixes and tweaks you may expect from a recently released title.

The new Halloween content consists of three new Halloween-themed hats hidden throughout the game, which will only be around until November 1. The seasonal addition only adds to a game that is already perfect to pick up over the Halloween weekend, with its tragic story of an abandoned village beset by corrupted spirits.

"Kena: Bridge of Spirits uses a different perspective on familiar gameplay ideas to create tons of exciting combat and a deep emotional connection with its world," Phil Hornshaw wrote for GameSpot's Kena: Bridge of Spirits review, which scored the game 9/10.

Other than the temporary Halloween items, the latest patch 1.11 also adds a number of new quality-of-life changes including more auto-save slots and a photo mode roll, while the world map now keeps track of where items have already been collected.

You can check out the full patch notes for update 1.11 below:

Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg Working On New Music For Grand Theft Auto

2 years 5 months ago

Snoop Dogg has said that Dr. Dre is working on new music for the Grand Theft Auto series, Rolling Stone reports, as well as adding that he's on board as a collaborator on some of the tracks. While Snoop has said that the new music is "connected to the GTA game that’s coming out," it's unclear whether the rapper is referring to a new entry in the series, or simply new music being added to GTA V.

"I do know he’s in the studio," Snoop Dogg said in an interview with Rolling Stone's Music Now podcast. "I do know he’s making great fucking music. And some of his music is connected to the GTA game that’s coming out. So I think that that will be the way that his music will be released, through the GTA video game."

When reached by Rolling Stone, Rockstar Games declined to comment on the remarks made by Snoop Dogg. While fans of the Grand Theft Auto series expect a sixth game will be released at some point, nothing has been officially announced by Rockstar at this stage.

It's possible that the new music by Dr. Dre, who hasn't released anything solo since Compton in 2015, will make an appearance in the upcoming Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition, which is due to release on November 11 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. It's also a possibility that the music is destined for GTA V, which has continued to expand its ambitions for musical content in the last year.

Monster Hunter Rise Adds 3 New Free Hairstyles, Available for Download Now

2 years 5 months ago

Monster Hunter Rise was released for the Switch earlier this year, and we absolutely loved it. It quickly ousted Monster Hunter World as the most accessible entry in the series, while also introducing more innovative systems like the wirebug which let players zip around the map quickly. The character customization was pretty good, but still not quite as diversified as players might have liked.

In response to player feedback, Capcom has since released three new hairstyles for the game, all of which are available for download in the Nintendo eShop for free at the time of this writing. You can check them out for yourself in the tweet down below.

What's In The Fortnite Item Shop Today - October 28, 2021: Kernal Poppy Debuts, Gildedguy Returns

2 years 5 months ago

Another day, another Fortnite Item Shop update. Today's update brings with it yet another brand-new character skin, alongside new back bling to match and an emote that will be perfect for Fortnite's upcoming horror movie festival, Shortnitemares. Here's what's new in the Fortnite Item Shop for October 28, 2021.

The marquee new addition is Kernal Poppy, a movie-obsessed, uh, green...thing. To be honest, I'm not sure what his Gumby-like body is meant to reference (green screens?), but his popcorn torso and retro 3D glasses leave no room for doubt: This dude loves his movies. You can grab the Kernal Poppy skin for 1,200 V-Bucks which also includes his Slurpy Slush'Em back bling. New to the Shortnitemares set, you may also want the Butter Buddy emote for 200 V-Bucks, which depicts your character sitting in a theater seat scared of what's in front of them and eating a comically large bucket of popcorn. It'll be perfect for this weekend's horror shorts festival.

If you like your Fortnite characters with spherical heads, you're going to love today's Item Shop inventory.

If you remember from the last Short Nite festival over the summer, Gildedguy made the journey from YouTube hero to Fortnite hero, and he's back in the shop with his unique, cel-shaded look too. Here's everything you can get in the Gildedguy set:

How A Rat Characterizes Ash, Apex Legends Season 11's New Character

2 years 5 months ago

Apex Legends Season 11: Escape kicks off November 2 and introduces playable character Ash to the battle royale game. Like many of the previous legends, Ash has a sidekick--a small rat that rides on her shoulder and hides in her hood--and it's designed to inform players of her characterization.

"Ash's rat has no name," Respawn lead animator Moy Parra said in a tweet. "This was a request from us in the animation department with a particular purpose in mind."

That purpose, as it turns out, was to provide a little bit of humanity for the terrifying simulacrum. Ash presents a lot like Apex Legends' other simulacrum, Revenant, in that both are seemingly cold individuals with an insatiable desire for killing. But Ash's rat characterizes her as a bit more calculating and purpose-driven than the murderous Revenant.

As Parra adds, Ash is not so caring as to name the rat, but the fact remains that the rat's health and trust of Ash betrays that Ash is capable of taking care of a living thing, despite her voice lines dripping with supposed disdain for biological life and her repeated vocalizations that humans are weak because their bodily needs make them fragile.

"[The rat] allowed us to show a bit of humanity from the character, without compromising the character itself," Parra tweeted. "Ironically, it is the rat that shows the more warm/human side, the side that Ash herself will never show!"

Dr. Dre Reportedly Making New Music For Grand Theft Auto

2 years 5 months ago

Leave it to Snoop Dogg to deliver some of the biggest news of the day. Snoop Dogg says Dr. Dre is working on new music for an upcoming Grand Theft Auto game.

Snoop Dogg revealed the news while as a guest on the Rolling Stone Music Now Podcast. In an episode that will air on Friday, Snoop said, "I do know [Dr. Dre] is in the studio... I do know he's making great f***ing music. And some of his music is connected to the GTA game that's coming out. So I think that that will be the way that his music will be released, through the GTA video game."

In an article published on Wednesday, Rolling Stone says a representative for Rockstar Games declined to comment.

There is a chance Snoop Dogg could be referring to the recently announced Grand Theft Auto trilogy remaster. Dr. Dre was featured on the radio stations in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, but those were previously-released songs.

Rockstar hasn't yet talked about how much of the original radio station music has been licensed for the new versions of the games or if any of the music has been replaced.

Intel's radical 12th-gen processors: price, performance and release date

2 years 5 months ago

Intel unveiled its 12th-gen processors today, shedding light on what promises to be the company's biggest step forward in on the desktop for years. These are finally 10nm parts - after seven brutal years and multiple 14nm iterations - and they also adopt a radically different hybrid design, with a combination of low-power 'Efficient' cores and high-power multi-threaded 'Performance' cores.

The top chip, the Core i9 12900K, includes eight of each type, for 16 cores and 24 threads in total, and promises to offer boosts of up to 30 percent depending on workload. For gaming, Intel is projecting gains of up to 20 percent, again depending on the game - and with the potential for more to come as games are optimised for the unique arrangement. These chips should also multi-task better, with the more efficient E cores taking on background tasks like streaming or virus scans while the P cores handle gaming or content creation. The new CPUs will arrive on November 4th, so we don't have long to wait!

Death's Door Flocks To PlayStation And Switch Next Month

2 years 5 months ago

Death’s Door is one of the best indies of the year (and games period) but only Xbox and PC players have enjoyed it. That changes next month when the charming action game migrates to PlayStation consoles and Switch.

This charming adventure puts you in control of a crow who serves as a soul-reaper for a bureaucratic organization of crows. They govern all things death, but when your assigned soul gets stolen, the adventure pits you at odds against characters who have managed to cheat death for centuries.

Gameplay consists of top down action where you cut through waves of challenging enemies and over-the-top bosses using a small arsenal of weapons. Outside of battle, you’ll explore dungeons across varied biomes connected by a secret-laden overworld. I scored Death's Door a 9 out of 10 review and wrote that it “marries fine-tuned hack n' slash action with a cool world ripe with secrets to unravel. The result is an entertaining, densely-packed trip to the other side.”

Death’s Door Announced For PS4, PS5, & Nintendo Switch

2 years 5 months ago

Earlier today during the latest State of Play livestream, a new trailer for Death’s Door revealed that the former Xbox-exclusive game will be coming to PS4 and PS5 on Nov. 23. The title will also be released on Nintendo Switch the same day.

Death’s Door is an isometric action RPG that originally launched earlier this year on Xbox consoles and PC via developer Acid Nerve and publisher Devolver Digital.

The Death’s Door trailer from today’s State of Play livestream shows off the game’s unmistakable visual style along with a handful of gameplay clips captured on the PS5. There are also a few non-gameplay clips, but most of the 53-second-long trailer featured high-action gameplay alongside a few environmental puzzles.

To learn more about Death’s Door, you can check out our review of the game or the official website. The press release for the new platform reveals also details the content of Death’s Door:

Death’s Door thrusts players into a quirky and curious world where Crows are in charge of collecting the souls of the dead. Reaping souls and punching a clock might get monotonous, but it’s honest work for a Crow. The job gets lively when your assigned soul is stolen and you must track down a desperate thief to a realm untouched by death – where creatures grow far past their expiry and overflow with greed and power.
