Scalpers Are Selling Sold Out Xbox Series X Mini Fridge

2 years 6 months ago

The Xbox Series X mini fridge sold out in minutes, and now scalpers are already selling them online for hundreds of dollars.

Microsoft released the first wave of preorders this morning, which sold out in under 15 minutes according to potential buyers on Twitter. The fridge modeled after the Xbox Series X console officially retails for $99.99/£89.99, but it's already going for more than double that on eBay.

Credit%3A%20eBay

A recent check on eBay showed multiple listings for the mini fridge priced at well over $200. Multiple listings have already sold at their listed price or accepted the 'best offer', meaning people are paying for fridges at double the cost of the MSRP price.

In the US, the fridge is on sale exclusively at Target, while it's available from GAME in the UK. Microsoft says it's planning to expand regional availability in 2022. It's also important to note that Xbox called today the "first wave" of preorders, meaning there may be more chances to secure the fridge in the US and UK later on.

Fortnite Dark Jonesy Quests: Collect Scrolls, Touch A Cube, Shadow Stone, And More

2 years 6 months ago

It's Fortnitemares season, and among a bucket of other sweets like new NPCs, weapons, and modes, there are five new Dark Jonesy quests to complete as part of his new questline, The Oracle Speaks. This questline re-ups Dark Jonesy's XP offerings to 150,000, the standard rate for new punchcards. It also includes a number of perplexing tasks, but we're here to help. Here's how to complete all Dark Jonesy quests including things like how to touch a cube, where to collect scrolls, and what to do with the Shadow Stone.

Fortnite Dark Jonesy Quests

There are five new Dark Jonesy quests. You can greet him at Steamy Stacks where he is still residing and studying the cubes' elusive motives. As Dark Jonesy is the first NPC of the season to offer two separate questlines, be sure to initiate the correct quest when you are given the choice in his dialogue options.

Here are Dark Jonesy's five new quests as part of The Oracle Speaks questline:

  • Collect Scrolls at different IO Bases (2) - 30,000 XP
  • Use a Shadow Stone, then recover the Spirit Vessel (1) - 30,000 XP
  • Touch a cube (1) - 30,000 XP
  • Destroy the Corruption Cluster and all Corruption Fragments (2) - 30,000 XP
  • Return the Spirit Vessel to the Oracle and hear his vision (1) - 30,000 XP

If you're a frequent player, you'll recognize these objectives as the sort of odd, one-off story quests we've seen a lot of before. That also means their solutions are rather tricky. Here's what you can do to complete his questline and earn all 150,000 XP.

WoW Raid Boosts Are a Common, If Controversial Practice, And Blizzard's Co-Lead Is Taking Part

2 years 6 months ago

Activision Blizzard is currently facing serious ongoing allegations of harassment and mistreatment of marginalized workers. To learn more, please visit our timeline as well as our in-depth report on the subject.

People paying in-game money for powerful players to "carry" them through top-level World of Warcraft content has been a common practice in the game for years, but the revelation that Blizzard's co-lead is participating in the practice has sparked a new flurry of discussion about "raid boosts" within the community.

The chatter kicked off when recently-instated Blizzard co-lead and former Xbox VP Mike Ybarra tweeted a few days ago that he would be streaming his WoW guild's "heroic SoD sales run." For those who don't play WoW, this is Ybarra advertising that he would be streaming his guild playing through the game's most recently released raid, Sanctum of Domination, on heroic difficulty.

The "sales" bit indicates that his guild group will include a few folks who had paid in-game gold to be there, as opposed to joining or assembling a high-level group of their own to clear the challenge themselves.

Valve quietly readying Half-Life 2 for Steam Deck with big new beta branch update

2 years 6 months ago

Yesterday, Valve unveiled a new compatibility ratings system for Steam Deck, intended to give users a clear indication of how well specific Steam games will run on the upcoming portable gaming PC. And now, a new beta update for Half-Life 2 has been discovered, seemingly released to ensure the seminal FPS meets the requirements needed to earn Steam Deck's top-tier Verified compatibility badge.

Half-Life 2's new beta branch update, as detailed by Valve watcher Tyler McVicker on his YouTube channel, reportedly covers a surprising amount of ground, not only making adjustments to the way the UI and resolution are handled in-game - primarily to ensure the FPS classic fits Steam Deck's aspect ratio and remains legible at its relatively diminutive size - but addressing some long-standing bugs as well.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus Introduces Some New Mysteries With a Creepy Found Footage Video

2 years 6 months ago

A new trailer for Pokemon Legends: Arceus shows off a fresh glimpse of the Hisui Region.

The video is presented in an eerie found-footage format as seen in horror movies, showing off some snowy terrain surrounded by rocks and trees. You can check out the trailer below.

In the trailer, the narrator describes a Pokemon he sees by saying, "The tip of its tail is red and swaying," and, "the white fur on top of its head and around its neck is so fluffy." He also says it's not a Vulpix or a Growlithe, so it's probably a new form of an existing Pokemon, or a new Pokemon entirely. The Pokemon Twitter account is asking trainers to examine the footage and report back with their findings.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus is set to be a big departure from the standard Pokemon formula. While the game won't be open-world, it will feature a handful of open areas to explore, similar to Monster Hunter: Rise. The game is also introducing a new class of Pokemon called Noble Pokemon, as well as a revamped battle system where Pokemon's stats and other factors may allow them to use multiple moves in a row.

Payday 10th Anniversary: Dev Reflects On The Past And Looks Forward To Payday 3

2 years 6 months ago

The Payday series celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, and Starbreeze and developer Overkill are going big to celebrate the milestone with a docu-series, an in-game event in Payday 2, and the soft-launch of Payday Crime War this year.

The series had humble origins, and few could have predicted what a gigantic success the heisting series would go on to become--Payday 2, for example, has reached a whopping 35 million installs and remains one of Steam's most popular games.

Payday: The Heist was originally known as Stone Cold, and Overkill was planning to show the game for the first time at E3 2011 until publisher Sony Online Entertainment said the name needed to change due to a clash with the WWE wrestler Stone Cold Steve Austin. For a company that was bankrupt before this, it was tough news, but the team found a new name--Payday!--and had a successful showing and launch in 2011. But that was just the beginning.

Frank From It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Tries to Win Squid Game

2 years 6 months ago

***Fair warning, the following content spoils a major twist in the Netflix original show, Squid Game. If you haven’t seen it yet and don’t want to be spoiled, come back after you’ve seen at least the first episode.***

The Gang from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia are always looking for a solid scheme that’ll make them rich and famous. So when Youtuber Jonkari P combined Frank Reynolds and Ronald “Mac” McDonald with the highly popular Netflix show, Squid Game, you knew that you were in for a treat.

In the short clip below, Frank and Mac are superimposed into the first episode of Squid Game, Red Light, Green Light. In the video, the two talk strategy, and how they should play it subtle.

The clip ends with Frank running away from the ensuing chaos of the first game and getting eliminated. It’s a hilarious bit of brevity that many fans of Squid Game need, especially if they binged all nine episodes in one sitting.

2 years 6 months ago

In Fortnite, you'll want to place Ghostbusters signs and deploy a ghost trap in order to close out the five-part Ghostbusters: Afterlife questline you can pick up from the new Containment Specialist NPC. This questline awards not just a ton of XP, but also an exclusive No Ghosts back bling, so you'll want to complete these challenges before the end of Fortnitemares on November 2. Here's how to complete the final two Containment Specialist quests.

Where To Place Ghostbusters Signs And Deploy A Ghost Trap In Fortnite

This is the adult ghost tour.

These two objectives represent the final challenges in the Ghostbusters questline and are all that stand between you and the rewards you can earn. While you can do each of these quests in a number of places, we're going to show you a shortcut so you can complete them both quickly and in the same area. Call it your very own ghost tour--no swearing, please.

First, you'll want to drop into Pleasant Park. Be careful, as that's also where to find candy in Fortnite, so it's going to be a hot drop for the duration of Fortnitemares. Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy: 10 Things To Know About The Cosmic Adventure

2 years 6 months ago

The era of Marvel video games is looking bright, as multiple developers and publishers have several games in development starring beloved characters from the House of Ideas. The next game in that multimedia multiverse is Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, a new title from developer Eidos Montreal and publisher Square Enix. With the team behind this decade's Deus Ex games and Shadow of the Tomb Raider at the helm, expectations are naturally high for this cosmic caper starring the galaxy's most recognizable A-holes.

In case you've missed out on all the game's reveal at E3 2021 and the steady stream of trailers since June, we've got a roundup on what you can expect when the Guardians arrive later this month.

Story

Eidos Montreal hasn't shared too much regarding the story of this game, but what is known is that picks up several years after a cataclysmic war took place throughout the galaxy. The damage dealt by that conflict was devastating, and when we join the Guardians, they're a gang of heroes for hire who are barely held together by their common interests. Naturally, things get worse for the team when they set off a chain of catastrophic events, eventually leading to a wild ride across space to fix their mess.

Where To Find Candy In Fortnite

2 years 6 months ago

Fortnite candy is all over a particular part of the island this month. As part of Fortnitemares 2021, you can essentially go trick-or-treating if you know where to find candy in Fortnite. Unlike last year, which featured a lot of sweets at Holly Hedges, this year the Fortnite candy is in a new location. Here's all you need to know about how to get Fortnite candy and what it does.

Where To Find Candy In Fortnite

Battle royale is extra sweet this month with all of these Fortnite candy locations.

Fortnite candy is outside of several houses within Pleasant Park for Fortnitemares 2021. During the Wrath of the Cube Queen event, which extends until November 2, you'll be able to land inside Pleasant Park and find candy outside of many residences in this formerly quaint neighborhood. I say formerly because the appeal of candy is going to pull in a lot of players, so prepare for a fight every time you land.

You'll want to collect candy as part of the Hollowhead quests. These Fortnitemares limited-time quests offer several free cosmetics to anyone who completes the pumpkin-headed NPC's challenges. When you come upon a pail of candy, like that in the image above, simply break it open and pick up the scattered candy.

Destiny 2 The Witch Queen: Everything We Know

2 years 6 months ago

Destiny 2's next expansion, Year 5's The Witch Queen, will center around Savathun and the events following Season of the Lost. The foundation of Savathun's story was built during Destiny 1's The Taken King DLC in the Books of Sorrow lore that came from her brother, Oryx. With Savathun having finally arrived in the game, The Witch Queen will more fully explore what Bungie has been building toward for years. Normally, Destiny has one major expansion every year, but this year it’s different since Covid-19 concerns pushed the release date to February 22, 2022. Like every major expansion, Bungie will implement new features and changes in Destiny 2. Here's everything you need to know about The Witch Queen DLC.

Announcement

Bungie's tantalizing preview of Savathun left everyone in awe because that tiny glimpse revealed her powerful character design. Her cryptic comment about truth and a casual stroll into a sea of skeletons floating on the water made fans curious about Savathun’s intentions.

What's New?

The reveal trailer during Bungie’s The Witch Queen showcase answered some questions from the teaser while creating so many more. We now know that the upcoming expansion will take place in Savathun's throne world called High Coven, a strange and luscious wilderness unfamiliar to Guardians.

Destiny 2 Season Of The Lost: Seasonal Challenges Guide (Week 9)

2 years 6 months ago

Only a handful of challenges have been added to the Destiny 2 quest tab this week, now that the Wayfinder's Voyage storyline has wrapped up. An easy selection of tasks, a few runs in Astral Alignment, and a journey into the Ascendant Realms with the right gear equipped should see most of these objectives completed quickly and smoothly.

Like previous weeks, you won't have to complete every objective within seven days as Destiny 2 stacks new seasonal challenges on top of older ones. The advantage to this system is that it not only allows you to prioritize the tasks you deem most important, but you can sometimes complete multiple challenges at the same time.

Here's how it works and all of the seasonal challenges available so far.

Season of the Lost Weekly Challenges

Legendary Ley Liner

Complete the Astral Alignment activity at Legendary difficulty.

Astral Assault

Defeat combatants with Auto Rifles and melee attacks. Defeating combatants in the Astral Alignment activity grants bonus progress.

Trial by Firing Squad

Elemental Gambit

Complete Gambit matches with each elemental subclass.

Armory-Wide Calibration

Calibrate Kinetic, Energy, and Power weapons. Bonus progress against Champions.

Elemental Splicing

Complete strikes as each elemental subclass.

Grotto review: a grim, mystical tale about the limitations of language

2 years 6 months ago

It's a hard life, being a soothsayer in Grotto. You live in a dingy little cave, the locals look at you with varying levels of distrust and suspicion, and occasionally your campfire will perk up and talk to you when no one's looking, its yellow flames turning an ominous shade of blue as it whispers dread-filled words about failure and the beating heart of the mountain into your ear. It's unclear how you ended up like this, but day after day you're tasked with consulting the handful of stars visible through a crack in the cave's ceiling to dole out advice to the local tribespeople, a group of anthropomorphic animals known only as The Brutes.

Said advice comes in the form of 24 constellations you can discover by looking up and drawing shapes in the sky with your mouse. You'll need to give one of them to each Brute that asks you a question, but when every constellation has its own fortune-cookie-like meaning attached to it, finding the right one to answer their question successfully can be a challenge. As the toad man Ouuch tells you at the start, if you ask three separate people what the word 'blue' means to them, you'll get three separate answers. Sometimes, your intentions will be misinterpreted, while others will willfully ignore you. But one thing Grotto always manages to do is to keep you coming back for more. Once you've set this car crash of consequences in motion, it's very hard to tear your eyes away.

CoD: Black Ops Cold War Patch Notes Detail The Haunting And Forsaken Improvements

2 years 6 months ago

Call of Duty Season 6 is in full swing, and the October 19 update for Black Ops Cold War brings in changes for the Halloween-themed Haunting event that will run from October 19 through November 2. The patch notes also detail several improvements for Season 6's Forsaken Zombies map.

Multiplayer Maps And Modes

Season 6's Haunting event brings a Halloween-themed Nuketown map to Black Ops Cold War. Players can also expect three limited-time modes:

  • Scream Deathmatch: Two players become masked Ghostface killers chasing after "survivors" in a game of hide-and-seek.
  • Infected mode with a new twist: it’s an18-player game of Zombies vs. Survivors, where Survivors now earn bonuses with each zombie player they kill.
  • Halloween Prop Hunt: This mode will let players hide around the map as skulls, jack-o'-lanterns, black cats, bats, skeletons, and more in Call of Duty's hide-and-seek mode.

Zombies

For Zombies, The Haunting event adds the new All Hallows' Eve Outbreak mode, in which players will need to survive for 10 minutes and exfiltrate from a single Outbreak region. This holiday version is more difficult than standard Outbreak mode, as the difficulty of the region will increase every two minutes. Ultimately, this means more zombies and greater difficulty to kill them. When the 10-minute time limit is reached, the exfil point will spawn and players will need to fight to safely exfil from the match.

Outbreak's Survival mode, which was previously a co-op mode for public matches, has been made available for both private matches and solo play.

Fortnite has been redecorated for its Fortnitemares 2021 event called Wrath of the Cube Queen, and the new Ghostbusters NPC is just one of several new characters on the island for the spooktacular two-week event. Where To Find The Ghostbusters NPC In Fortnite

Pokemon Legends: Arceus Gets A New Found Footage-Style Trailer

2 years 6 months ago

A new Pokemon Legends: Arceus promotional video takes on a moody found-footage horror format and atmosphere. Set in the Hisui region, the video is grainy and the audio cuts in and out. The content is also quite mysterious: All we find out is that the poor researcher doing the filming first encounters wild Snorunts, then goes up on a hill, and subsequently gets attacked (killed?) by a wild pokemon that is "adorable." It's unclear what causes the narrator to drop the camera, and the video fades to black with their fate unknown.

The Pokemon the researcher saw before meeting an abrupt end (maybe--they could still be alive) has yellow round eyes and white fur on top of its head and around its neck. It's likely that this video is a teaser for a mysterious pokemon in Arceus--perhaps some fluffy adorable murderous entity suggested and described in the found footage video?

Pokemon Legends: Arceus will launch exclusively on Nintendo Switch on January 28, 2022. Set in the distant past before the Pokemon League or Pokemon Trainer as a profession existed, players get to explore an era where Sinnoh was still known as Hisui. Your starting Pokemon are Rowlet, Cyndaquil, and Oshawott.

Halo Co-Creator Marcus Lehto Opens New EA Studio Focused On First-Person Games

2 years 6 months ago

Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto has opened a new EA studio primarily focused on first-person games, roughly seven months after the closure of V1 Interactive, which is the studio founded by Lehto responsible for Disintegration.

Lehto founded V1 Interactive back in 2016 with SOCOM co-creator Michael Gutmann. The studio created Disintegration and while the game showed a lot of promise, it wasn’t met with the reception the team had hoped for. V1 Interactive announced that it was closing on March 8 earlier this year. Now, a little over seven months later, Lehto is back to making games, this time under the EA umbrella.

Hey everyone, I’m very excited to announce that I’ve joined EA as a Game Director, building a new studio in the Seattle area working on first-person games. I can’t wait to share more about what we’re creating.

Where To Deploy Seismographs In Fortnite

2 years 6 months ago

In Fortnite: Wrath of the Cube Queen, you'll need to know where to deploy seismographs in Misty Meadows or Catty Corner as part of the new Ghostbusters questline. Completing all of these quests will unlock you a huge bounty of XP and an exclusive Ghostbusters back bling cosmetic item for free, but it all starts with these seismographs. Here's where to deploy them seismographs Fortnite.

Where To Deploy Seismographs In Fortnite - Misty Meadows

Two locations, Misty Meadows and Catty Corner, have three seismograph interactions each, so you'll theoretically only need to visit one location. Let's start in Misty Meadows. You'll find you can deploy seismographs in Misty Meadows at the following spots:

  • By the water fountain where the main road turns in the southwest corner
  • Beside the covered patio area on the west side of the bridge
  • By the small dock north of the bridge

Where To Deploy Seismographs In Fortnite - Catty Corner

Assuming you'd rather start in Catty Corner--or just need to finish off the quest on a second try--you'll find three more seismograph locations. If all else is equal, Catty Corner's three quest-relevant spots are actually much closer together and thus will be faster to complete, but remember to account for enemy density and the storm circle's movement.

Within Catty Corner, you'll find you can place seismographs at the following spots:

  • By the back door of the auto body shop
  • Next to the Reboot Van
  • In front of the bounty board and airstream trailer to the north

You can see all six locations on this one map below.
