Sorry Y’all, Dead Island 2 Weapon Breaking Isn’t Going Anywhere

1 year 7 months ago

Not gonna lie: I think weapon durability sucks. For all its supposed realism, I find the mechanic cumbersome and needlessly complicating. So you can imagine I haven’t been too keen to hear that Dambuster Studios just made extensive comments defending the mechanic’s presence in its upcoming Dead Island 2, saying it…

When Does Deadpool 3 Come Out? Release Window Explained

1 year 6 months ago

Deadpool 3 has been long in development. Ever since Disney’s acquisition of distributor 20th Century Fox in 2019, some have wondered whether the Mouse House would continue the development of the R-rated superhero flick. Finally, though, it appears that there’s a light at the end of the tunnel with the status of the film. Here’s when Deadpool 3 is expected to come out.

Deadpool 3 Release Date

Following its initial announcement, Disney and Marvel have confirmed that Deadpool 3 will be delayed by just a little bit: it will now be released on Nov. 8, 2024. This is thankfully not an extremely long delay, as it’s now set for release just two months after its initially planned Sep. 6 release.

How to Build Rebecca from Edgerunners in Cyberpunk 2077

1 year 7 months ago

Netflix’s latest video game anime adaptation has proved a huge success; so much so, in fact, that it’s prompted many to give Cyberpunk 2077 either a second shot or a first try. If you’re one of the many and you’d like to learn how to build one of the show’s cool characters in the game itself, here’s what you need to know about how to build Rebecca from Edgerunners in Cyberpunk 2077.

Rebecca Edgerunners Cyberpunk 2077 Build

Rebecca is surely one of the most entertaining characters in Edgerunners with her fun, slightly maniacal personality. Still, as a cyberpunk, make no mistake that she’s a gun-toting badass, too, and so we’re obviously going to be focusing here on a very weapon-centric build. We want to make sure Rebecca can handle any weapon type in the game, though we’ll be leaning into shotguns heavily since the 1.6 update actually added Rebecca’s GUTS Shotgun to the game. You can read our detailed guide on where to obtain it here.

Before we get into the specifics of the build, if you’re playing on PC it’s worth noting that modders have actually put together some pretty awesome cosmetic mods to really take your build to the next level. You can get Rebecca’s pistolsRebecca’s tattoos, and Rebecca’s hairstyle and eyes to name a few.

Cyberware

You want to focus your implants on giving Rebecca more ability to tank damage since she’s always going to be right in the heat of close-quarters firefights.

Ryan Reynolds Confirms Jackman Wolverine & Deadpool 3 Debut Date

1 year 7 months ago

Earlier today on Twitter, Ryan Reynolds dropped a video with two of the biggest MCU announcements since Secret Wars and Kang Wars were revealed at San Diego Comic-Con. A third film in the Deadpool franchise has long been talked about, but there was never any official announcement from any of the big names at Marvel Studios on how the crass invincible hero would fit into the MCU.

It looks like we can now confirm that Deadpool 3 is set for a Sept. 6, 2024 debut date in theaters. As of right now, there’s no confirmation if the third movie in this trilogy will continue to carry the R rating of the past two films. If it does, then this will mark the first announced MCU film to have a rating above PG-13.

The other major announcement made by Reynolds in the tweet is the return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. In the video, Reynolds asked Jackman if he wants to play Wolverine, “…one more time,” to which he responds, “Yeah, sure, Ryan.” While it’s worded like this will be Jackman’s last run as Wolverine, plenty of people assumed Logan was the end as well. It’s safe to say that nothing is confirmed as far as the future goes for Jackman’s Wolverine in the MCU.

On top of all that news, it’s also important to keep in mind that this is the first time these characters will appear in the MCU. Plus, Wolverine will be only the second X-Men character to make an appearance in this universe, the first being Professor X in the latest Doctor Strange.

Down below you can find the Deadpool 3 release date and Wolverine confirmation video that Reynolds tweeted out. Deadpool and Deadpool 2 can be streamed on Disney+ right now.

Artemis: PUBG Creator’s Next Game Will Have NFTs and the Metaverse

1 year 7 months ago

PUBG creator Brendan Greene has revealed his next game – a blockchain-powered metaverse title.

During an interview with Hit Points, the 45-year-old game developer revealed that Artemis, his next game, will feature NFTs, the metaverse, and blockchain.

“[Artemis] will be a platform that we participate in the maintenance of, maybe,” he explained. “But it’s something that anyone can plug into, and everyone can host a bit of themselves.”

Artemis will reportedly let players make anything they like as part of a large, open world. But now, it looks as though the project will incorporate blockchain.

"I was fascinated with this idea of digital spaces, places where there are no real rules but a set of systems that you can use,” explained Greene. “That fascinated me, and still does. I never considered just walking away.”

Blockchain is often pitched as a way for players to contribute to a game’s development, but many developers have come out against the technology with the likes of Minecraft outright banning the use of NFTs or blockchain.

Greene insists that Artemis is not about making money. “The only way this exists is if it’s made for everyone, and it’s not made for money,” he said. However, he also confirmed that players will be able to “extract value” from their creations by selling in-game items to other players.

Twitter User Finds Joker Audio Files in MultiVersus

1 year 7 months ago

A Twitter user by the name of Laisul claims to have unearthed audio files featuring the Joker as the announcer in MultiVersus.

They released a compilation of lines for The Clown Prince of Crime with none other than Mark Hamill providing the voice.

The Star Wars actor has been voicing the iconic villain for 30 years, starting with Batman: The Animated Series. Hamil has since voiced the Joker in several different projects, including several DC Animated films, such as The Killing Joke and the Batman Arkham video games.

If these clips are real, the Joker might join MultiVersus soon, allowing players to fight against Batman and Harley Quin, both voiced by Hamill’s Batman: TAS co-stars Kevin Conroy and Tara Strong. The next DC Comics character that will join MultiVersus will be Anti-Hero Black Adam, who is expected to arrive in October to coincide with the release of the upcoming film that will star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

All Maps in Phasmophobia, Listed

1 year 7 months ago

Given its nature as an Early Access title, Phasmophobia is a release that’s seen consistent additions and adjustments since its initial release in September 2020. Maps are no exception to this, and recent updates have expanded gameplay options for players significantly. For the sake of better preparing you for jumping straight into the horrific fun, here’s a complete list of every Phasmophobia map.

All Phasmophobia Maps

Phasmophobia currently has twelve maps in which players can carry out their ghost-hunting adventures. Aside from the map name, it’s also important to note the size of each map, as the number of rooms directly affects the difficulty of the game by requiring more exploration to discover the ghost’s location:

  1. Sunny Meadows Mental Institution (Large)
  2. Prison (Medium)
  3. Maple Lodge Campsite (Medium)
  4. Brownstone High School (Medium)
  5. Sunny Meadows Mental Institution Restricted (Small)
  6. Camp Woodwind (Small)
  7. Willow Street House (Small)
  8. Tanglewood Street House (Small)
  9. Ridgeview Road House (Small)
  10. Edgefield Street House (Small)
  11. Grafton Farmhouse (Small)
  12. Bleasdale Farmhouse (Small)

If you’ve played Phasmophobia in the past and some of the entries on this list are confusing to you, remember that the Apocalypse update (released on Sept. 27, 2022) removed the Asylum map and replaced it with the Sunny Meadows Mental Institution, making it the only map in the game currently labeled as Large.

Embark Studios Challenges Players to Reach THE FINALS in Explosive New Pre-Alpha Gameplay Trailer; Closed Alpha Test Date Revealed

1 year 7 months ago

In 2018, EA’s chief design officer, Patrick Söderlund, left the giant publisher behind to found his own studio. Fast forward to 2022, and the small studio, comprised of former Battlefield developers, is looking to do something different with upcoming projects such as ARC Raiders and THE FINALS.

A new trailer has dropped for the latter title showing off insanely detailed graphics, explosions, and destruction aplenty as well as a look into some of the weapons players will use in Embark Studios’ arena shooter. Check out the trailer below.

THE FINALS is an upcoming free-to-play, FPS, “combat-centered game show” that tasks players with winning in a variety of virtually recreated spaces. These spaces take inspiration from real-world locations and, as shown in the pre-alpha trailer, can be torn down to the players liking as they aim to succeed. Using a variety of different firearms such as rocket launchers, melee weapons, and even a foam gun eerily reminiscent of the one from Prey. Players will need to outwit their opponents to succeed in search of the fame and fortune that comes from winning this prestigious event.

How to Change Campaign Difficulty in Splatoon 3

1 year 7 months ago

Splatoon 3’s new campaign, Return of the Mammalians, offers some fresh new takes on the Splatoon formula. With a vast amount of content, a deeper story and unique level design, it’s the biggest Splatoon campaign yet. Players may be curious, though, if they can make the game more or less difficult than it already is. Here is how to change the campaign difficulty in Splatoon 3.

Changing Campaign Difficulty in Splatoon 3

Splatoon 3 does not have a proper difficulty toggle within the game’s campaign. The level design can not be changed to be easier or harder, and the game doesn’t have settings to change the number of enemies or damage output they offer. That said, there is one way to change the difficulty of levels in the campaign.

When you begin a level in Return of the Mammalians, you usually have a choice as to which weapon you can use when playing. Different weapons offer different amounts of power eggs when you complete a level. This is essentially your “difficulty toggle”: weapons that offer smaller rewards are typically the “Easy” mode, while weapons with greater rewards are essentially the “Hard” mode. Of course, when the game recommends a specific weapon for you to use, that’s what can be considered the “Normal” or “Medium” difficulty.

Is Phasmophobia on Xbox? Answered

1 year 7 months ago

Considering the popularity of Phasmophobia, it makes sense there might be people wondering if it is available on a platform more readily available to them. If you’ve been watching streamers play it and are interested, we have some answers for you. Here’s the full answer for if Phasmophobia is on Xbox.

Can You Play Phasmophobia on Xbox?

Sorry to say, but currently Phasmophobia is only available on PC through Steam in Early Access. While it might come to Xbox and other consoles eventually, at this moment Phasmophobia is only on PC.

There is some hope, though. The Early Access info section on Steam details the plan that developer Kinetic Games has for a full release:

The current plan is to release the game in late 2022/early 2023 however this may change depending on features added and how the game will progress through early access.

It is often that when a game releases its 1.0 version that it releases on other platforms. This was certainly the case for Temtem which only came to Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch when the full 1.0 version launched.

For those who maybe need a bit more detail on what Phasmophobia actually is, Steam describes it as:

Best XP Maps in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4

1 year 7 months ago

Seeing as Fortnite offers the chance to earn battle pass XP not only in battle royale modes but also in creative maps, players have plenty of options. Though, there is certainly a difference in the XP to be gained from one map to another. This is why we have gone through to figure out the best creative maps to gain XP in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4.

Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4 Best Creative Maps for XP

SypherPK’s Pit

SypherPK's Pit

This one might be rather obvious, but considering it had a few cosmetics tied to it when the season launched and is a free-for-all game mode, there are plenty of players still playing it. This map gives you plenty of legendary weapons to use on whoever is unlucky enough to load in with you. Plus, you get a good amount of XP per kill and there are infinite respawns. This is a great place to rack up XP without the constant restart of the battle royale modes.

Are FIFA 23 Servers Down? How To Check FUT Server Status

1 year 7 months ago

If you’re part of the early access FIFA 23 group, it’s possible the game can be seeing some trouble with the influx of players looking to get into the game. Fortunately, there are places to check and make sure whatever problem you are having isn’t only happening to you. Here’s how to check the FUT Servers to see if FIFA 23 is down.

Where To Check FIFA 23 FUT Server Status

With a massive game like FIFA 23, there are plenty of places to check server status and make sure everything is running smoothly…or not.

Your first stop when diagnosing problems should be EA’s help page for FIFA 23. This will help you with not only server notices, but also contains FAQs on different things related to the game.

Assuming that doesn’t give any information, you can always check the @EAHelp Twitter account, which should be very informative on known issues.

Finally, it’s off to trusty Downdetector. Assuming neither of these previous sources have anything to tell, Downdetector might give a different story seeing as it runs off of reports of players like you and not official sources. There are two related places to check in this situation. First would obviously be Downdector for FIFA, and then the Downdetector page for EA.

Grounded Review

1 year 7 months ago

As someone who played it during its early access period, I was immediately surprised by how much Grounded has evolved for its 1.0 launch. It feels like it’s not only fulfilled the potential of its “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” survival premise, but exceeded nearly all of my expectations of it. Even though it’s still plagued with mostly harmless bugs (the software kind) that can annoy, I enjoyed practically every minute of the over 100 hours I’ve played so far of this stunningly creative and consistently funny adventure, and it easily stands shoulder to shoulder alongside some of my favorite survival games.

Grounded is a survival game first and foremost, but draws a ton of inspiration from Obsidian’s history as a team of RPG wizards as well. You’ll split your time between scavenging the charming backyard setting for materials, crafting awesome items from the corpses of your enemies, building badass structures to protect yourself and your stuff, fighting giant bugs that gave my co-op partners nightmares, exploring extremely difficult dungeons, leveling up your character’s stats and equipment, and more. Numerous character progression mechanics, an enemy weaknesses and resistances system that had me poring over data in the menu, the elaborate boss fights, and NPCs and dialogue options that break up the action all make it feel more like a roleplaying game than most of its survival peers. Admittedly, there aren’t very many NPCs to find and most story development is either told via collectible audio recordings or locked behind hours of survival gameplay and a bit of grinding, but Grounded strikes a great balance between making you feel on your own in a hostile backyard and meeting quirky characters, most of whom inevitably try to maim you.

How to Get Come To Pass Throne World Auto Rifle in Destiny 2 & What the God Roll Is

1 year 7 months ago

Arc 3.0 was unleashed onto Destiny 2 quite a while ago, and since then, nearly all Arc-based weapons have seen a dramatic rise in usage. As a prime example, even weapons that haven’t had a lot of usage before, such as the Come To Pass Throne World Auto Rifle. This particular Auto Rifle didn’t make a big splash upon release, but with the new Arc 3.0 subclass changes, it might become a staple in players’ loadouts. So today, let’s discuss how to get the Come To Pass Auto Rifle and what the God Roll for it is in Destiny 2.

How to Get Come To Pass In Destiny 2

Unlike other Throne World weapons, the Come To Pass Auto Rifle can only be obtained from one specific activity, Wellspring. You’ll have a slight chance to get this weapon upon completing a run. However, upon each weekly reset, the Master difficulty for Wellspring will feature a higher chance of obtaining a specific weapon. For example, at the time of writing this post, the featured weapon for Wellspring this current week is blank. Keep in mind that completing a run of the Master difficulty will not give you one guaranteed, but you have a common chance of earning one instead.

Is FIFA 23 the Last FIFA? Answered

1 year 7 months ago

FIFA 23 is upon us, and with it set to be the final collaboration between EA Sports and FIFA, the question of whether or not FIFA 23 is the last FIFA is making the rounds. So, we’re here to answer that question for you once and for all.

Is FIFA 23 the Last FIFA?

The short answer is that yes, FIFA 23 will be the last time it falls under this title. However, that’s because starting next year and going forward, it will be renamed to EA Sports FC. So, why is this happening?

Simply put, the long-standing partnership between EA Sports and FIFA is coming to an end. That said, EA did make it clear at the time of the announcement that the next game would include over 300 licenses across the sport.

Fans can also expect to enjoy the same game modes they’ve grown to love, such as Ultimate Team, Career Mode, Pro Clubs, and more. Per their official statement, Cam Weber—EVP, Group GM EA SPORTS & Racing—made this clear:

“This new independent platform will bring fresh opportunity – to innovate, create and evolve. This is much more than just a change of symbol – as EA SPORTS, we’re committed to ensuring EA SPORTS FC is a symbol of change. We’re dedicated to meaningfully reinvesting in the sport, and we’re excited to work with a large and increasing number of partners to expand to new authentic experiences that bring joy, inclusivity and immersion to a global community of fans. I look forward to sharing more detail on these plans in the coming months.”

The Excavation Of Hob's Barrow review: an emotive and doomy folk horror adventure

1 year 7 months ago

It's tough making a story where you establish early on that your main character will still be alive at the end. In The Excavation Of Hob's Barrow, a point and click, small town, folk horror adventure game, the events are narrated by the main character Thomasina, writing in the future, and the game walks a slightly different line. Rather than successfully making you believe a character you know survives is in peril, all the way through The Excavation Of Hob's Barrow you are aware that Thomasina in the future is alive but, somehow, definitely not okay. And you believe you can save her anyway.

This looming dread, growing increasingly loom as the game goes on, is one of the most effective weapons in Hob's Barrows' arsenal of horror. Thomasina, a barrow-digger and proto-feminist trouser-wearer in a time when trousers were worn by men, is a practical and mostly cheerful woman. She approaches all the puzzles she has to solve in the robust, roll-your-sleeves up manner of an old-timey governess who doesn't care if you hate learning French verbs. The Thomasina of the future voiceover, however, sounds blank, drained and sad. It's a contrast that weighs more and more heavy as you slice into the horrible heart of Hob's Barrow, and it underscores how great it is to play the game in its fully voiced form.

Expect to See More Mr. Negative Decks With Marvel Snap’s Latest Featured Location, The Peak

1 year 7 months ago

Another week, another brand new location gets introduced in Marvel Snap. This comes right off the heels of the latest balance patch, which saw a rather questionable nerf to Mr. Negative, who had been dominating the meta before then.

Negative got nerfed from a 4-cost, 4-power card to a 4-cost, 1-power card. With the new Featured Location, though, that’s not gonna matter. The new location is called The Peak, and it reverses the cost and power of all the cards in your hand. Ironically, this makes Mr. Negative even more powerful if you already have him in hand, giving players the potential to play him on turn one.

Needless to say, Negative decks are going to get a lot more popular over the next couple of days, as the location encourages players to pack in high cost and low power cards to play around The Peak. There are plenty of cards that can benefit from this effect, but Mr. Negative will likely have the upper hand.

Marvel Snap is set to launch globally on Oct. 18 for PC and mobile devices.

Session: Skate Sim Review

1 year 7 months ago

Warning: Session is a hard game and will test your patience. Those aren’t my words; they’re the words of the developer, Creā-ture Studios itself, splashed verbatim on each of Session’s trick list menus. That’s a belated caveat for the presumably bewildered people mining the menus for shreds of advice on how to actually do anything in this diabolically difficult skateboarding sim. With a two-stick control system that flies in the face of generations of muscle memory, Session is a complex but very grounded simulation of street skating that can appear wonderfully authentic when executed well. However, despite the fact that it’s just emerged from several years of early access, it doesn’t quite appear fully ready for release: physics bugs, shonky trick detection, and unfriendly mission design are regular frustrations.

Since its debut demo back in late 2017, Session has been previously pegged by some as a spiritual successor to EA’s Skate series. To be honest, it’s not really a great comparison. Session’s stick-based trick controls may sound akin to Skate’s on paper, but the reality is Session’s two-stick system is far more complicated. In fact, the single-stick Skate-like “Legacy” controls Session introduced into its Early Access build back in 2020 have actually been entirely removed in the 1.0 version. Adapting to Session’s two-stick controls is now compulsory.

How to McGeady Spin in FIFA 23

1 year 7 months ago

The McGeady Spin in FIFA 23 is one of the best skill moves you can use to avoid a defender’s tackle and move your player into space so they can play out a pass to the wings, or continue their run towards goal. It does require a bit of practicing to get right, and of course, you’ll need to know the correct right analog stick inputs to actually perform the skill move. Here’s everything you need to know on this handy skill move.

FIFA 23 McGeady Spin Explained

To McGeady Spin in FIFA 23, you need to flick the right stick the way your player is facing, and then flick it to the left or the right — whichever direction you’d like your player to spin out of the skill move in.

For example, if the player is facing the left-hand side of your screen, you want to first flick the right analog stick left, and then flick it either upwards or downwards. If you flick it up, they’ll finish their McGeady spin facing the top side of your screen. Flick it down and they’ll finish facing the bottom side of your screen.

The McGeady spin is best used when you’re wanting to quickly change direction, like when you’re sprinting down the wing and want to cut into the box. Alternatively, you might want to McGeady spin in the middle of the field, away from an incoming defender’s tackle before passing out to one of your players on the wing.

It’s worth noting that the McGeady Spin is a four-star skill move, and so you’ll only be able to perform this skill with a player who has four star skill moves. With there being a wealth of Icons, One to Watch players and plenty of promos yet to be announced that will bring skilful players to Ultimate Team, you shouldn’t have any problems getting at least one player in your team.

How to Do the La Croqueta in FIFA 23

1 year 7 months ago

One of the best ways to penetrate defenses in a game like FIFA 23 is to take advantage of the skill moves system. It might not always be the most realistic, but it does make for an arcade-like experience that will benefit those that put in the time to master the various tricks and flicks. If you are itching to get styling, here’s how to do the La Croqueta in FIFA 23.

FIFA 23 La Croqueta – How to Do It on PS4/PS5, Xbox One/Xbox Series X|S & Nintendo Switch

The basic requirement for a La Croqueta to be possible is that you will need to be controlling a player with at least four stars in skill moves. Otherwise, you will be getting random tricks instead. Just like all skill moves, it requires input via the right stick.

Depending on the direction you are looking to face after the trick, this is what you’ll need to do on Xbox One/Xbox Series X|S, PS4/PS5, and Switch

Pulling off the ball roll shifts the ball to either side of the player you are currently controlling, which can make a better angle for a pass or a shot at goald. To do it, you are going to use the right thumbstick, but it is a relatively simply move.

How to Turn Off Timed Finishing in FIFA 23

1 year 7 months ago

Introduced back in FIFA 19, EA Sports has continued to include the timed finishing mechanic in the subsequent games, and FIFA 23 is no exception. A shooting mechanic that rewards precise timing with more accurate and powerful shots, this option can either be your best friend or your worst nightmare. For those looking to avoid such situations, here’s everything you’ll need to know about how to turn off timed finishing in FIFA 23.

What is Timed Finishing?

Timed finishing is a risk-and-reward mechanic that can give a boost to your shots in terms of accuracy, speed, and power. After holding down the shoot button to determine your power, you will need to time a second press just before the player strikes the ball.

Do it properly, and you can reap the benefits, spam the button, however, and your perfect chance may just lead to a weak shot that is easily saved.

Turning Off Timed Finishing in FIFA 23

To turn off timed finishing, all you will have to do is head to the main menu screen in FIFA 23, where you can access all the different modes and options. From here, head into the Customize tab, where you can tweak all the settings.

Can PS4 & Xbox One Play with PS5 & Xbox Series X|S on FIFA 23? Answered

1 year 7 months ago

Wondering if PS4 and Xbox One players can play FIFA 23 with friends on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S? That’s a pretty good question, especially considering there are so many minor differences to the way the game plays on both last and current-gen consoles. In this guide, we’ll provide you with the answer, and explain why that’s the case.

Can Last-Gen Consoles Play with PS5 & Xbox Series X|S on FIFA 23?

The bad news is that, no, unfortunately, PS4 and Xbox One players can’t play with players on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The reason for this is because of the difference in-game engine. While the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game are still running on an older engine, the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions are running on a newer engine which provides more realistic physics effects and player movement.

That means that, while the core gameplay may remain the same between last and current-gen consoles, the way the game feels to play is drastically different between the two.

As such, it’s not possible for those playing on PS4 and Xbox One to play with friends on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, even in an online friendly game. If you want to play with or against your friends, you’ll at least need to be on the same console generation.

The good news, though, is that PS4 and Xbox One players can now play with one another. The case is the same for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S players, who can also play with those on PC, as that version of the game is also the newer version.

Modern Warfare 2's open beta demonstrates Activision's accessibility negligence

1 year 7 months ago

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2's open beta has ended. It was a trial I entered with an open mind. Though I found the visibility and repetitive inputs of Modern Warfare 2019 difficult, I put a lot of hours into it. Subsequent entries felt worse due to a regression in graphical fidelity, but I still crave what Call of Duty offers.

Not fast-paced gunplay, but a game without commitment. Rather than knowing I have to devote hundreds of hours to the experience, I can fit in sessions across a range of timeframes thanks to multiplayer matches lasting around 15 minutes and frequent checkpoints in the campaign.

It's disappointing then that in three years between Modern Warfare entries, accessibility doesn't appear to have progressed. Admittedly, what we've seen during the last two weekends has been restricted to multiplayer, but the settings available informs what we're likely to see in the full release.

The Excavation of Hob's Barrow review - an adventure game with depth

1 year 7 months ago

SPOILER WARNING: I try not to reveal specifics of Hob's Barrow in this piece, but to get at what's special about this game, I've had to talk about certain elements of the design that you might not want to know going in.

My favourite moment in The Excavation of Hob's Barrow came about three hours after I'd finished it. But we'll get to that in a bit.

From the off, it's hard not to root for Thomasina Bateman. In an age of steam trains and parasols, she has come to a small village in the north of England to dig up an ancient burial site, regardless of all the obstacles the local patriarchy - and the soggy English weather - can place in her way.

Blizzard are "interested in exploring" Fortnite-style crossovers for Overwatch 2

1 year 7 months ago

Shoehorning in appearances by pop-culture favourites du jour isn’t something you’d normally associate with Overwatch, but Blizzard are considering it in some form or another for Overwatch 2. Overwatch VP Jon Spector discussed brand crossovers during an interview with Game Informer, saying that Blizzard is “interested in exploring” partnerships like those you might see in Fortnite. Although, he did qualify that it would have to be in keeping with the Overwatch franchise.

The Judgment Collection is a perfect gateway into the Yakuza series

1 year 7 months ago

Yakuza spin-offs Judgment and Lost Judgment have arrived on Steam! This means you can mete out justice with your fists and do some important detective work... and do some drone racing... and participate in some robot wars. It's Yakuza with a murder-mystery twist that's well worth your while even if you're not actually that big on Kiryu or Ichiban's antics. I'd even go so far as to say it might be the perfect side entrance into the Yakuza series as a whole.

FIFA 23 Will Let You Disable Commentary Criticizing Your Play

1 year 7 months ago

FIFA 23 lets you turn off commentary criticizing your play, so you don’t have to hear how you're letting the side down.

According to Eurogamer, this new feature is live right now after FIFA 23 early access launched a day early on EA Play.

Just hop into the settings and check the box marked “Disable Critical Commentary” to make sure you only get the nicest pep talks from the likes of Derek Rae, Stewart Robson, and Alex Scott. Get in!

Checking this box means you won’t get any commentary that’s critical of how you play, so no more comments about your shoddy defense, for starters. However, you will still get the regular comments they say throughout a match.

It’s likely that this feature made it into the game simply to make for a more positive experience for some players. But it’s also pretty useful if your children play the game, too. After all, it can be a bit daunting when you pick up the pad for the first time, and that could be made even worse if Stewart Robson is giving you a grilling over your sub-par performance.

But the feature may still need some work… During tests, Eurogamer found that disabling critical commentary during a FIFA Ultimate Team Division Rivals match did absolutely nothing. “Robson still tore into my finishing and had some choice words for poor Mason Mount,” said Eurogamer.

Still, it sounds like a useful edition for the more sensitive players when it works.
