Of the very many Pokémon games in circulation at the moment, perhaps Pokémon Smile is the one you’re not so aware of. Announced in June last year, then released that very same day, it is an AR mobile app designed to get kids to brush their teeth properly. Oh, and it’s really, really good. Some 17 months later, The…

Guerrilla has revealed new details on the metal beasts of Horizon Forbidden West.
In a new PlayStation Blog post, principal machine designer (what a title!) Blake Politeski explains the process of designing some new beasts that will feature alongside the existing designs from the previous game.
Bandai Namco has said that Elden Ring players can expect to see the game run at 'up to' 60 FPS on new-generation consoles and PC when it launches in February.
The publisher confirmed some of the game's performance features on the Elden Ring website. Perhaps to the disappointment of some players, the game's framerate on PC won't be uncapped at launch and instead will be limited to 60 FPS.
According to the publisher, new-generation consoles will also be able to reach up to 60 FPS, though that does come with a small caveat. In order to push the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S toward that figure, Bandai Namco has indicated that players may need to run the game in performance mode - a feature that will adjust the game's screen resolution and load balancer to approach higher framerates.
While news of Elden Ring's 60 FPS framerate cap may not be what PC players were hoping for, there's still plenty to look forward to. As per the guide, both PC and new-generation console players will be able to run the game at a 4K resolution and have access to HDR support when it launches.
Ray tracing is also being made available on those formats, though Bandai Namco says that this will be via a patch and that it won't be available to Xbox Series S players. At present, the publisher hasn't clarified whether this patch will arrive on launch or at a later date.

Ever since the initial reveal of Horizon Forbidden West, the follow-up to Guerilla Games’ popular action-adventure title Horizon Zero Dawn, it’s easily become one of the most highly anticipated games for the PS5. We’ve gotten a neat trailer showing it off, along with a few other dev blogs going into Aloy’s skill trees and abilities.
Guerilla Games has just published another dev blog on the PlayStation Blog, this time focusing on the machines instead.
“The machines in Horizon Forbidden West are more mobile in almost every way you can imagine – jumping, swimming, clinging to surfaces… Because of this, Aloy will need to keep up with them, so there’s new movement mechanics to help her out. We’re also focusing more on Aloy’s ability to survey and plan an encounter before engaging, as well as her ability to escape if things don’t go as planned.”
Principal Machine Designer Blake Politeski
The enemy variety has also been increased in Forbidden West, and we get a glimpse of some of the new foes Aloy will be facing, such as the Tremortusk.
“The Tremortusk is based on a mammoth with a nod to the historic and cinematic examples of the great war elephants. It has many different attacks and a body covered in various guns. Apart from using its tusks to attack up close, it also has different elemental weapons it can use. The one we see in the trailer is controlled by a rebel faction of the Tenakth, but you can also find them wandering the wilds.”
Another key visual will be dropping next month ahead of the 2022 premiere.

Final Fantasy XIV’s 24 million registered players weave a tale of hard-fought success considering the original game’s shaky release before the reupholstered A Realm Reborn launch. Since then, Eorzea has grown with multiple expansions: Heavensward, Stormblood, and Shadowbringers, each introducing new areas to explore, more character jobs, and exciting story beats to bolster the already compelling central narrative. Endwalker is the next large-scale addition. The pandemic affected the fourth expansion’s production, and now producer and director Naoki Yoshida has announced a short two-week delay alongside a new Endwalker launch trailer (seen below).
Click here to watch embedded mediaIn a Square Enix press release, Yoshida apologized profusely for the last-minute delay (Endwalker was initially slated to release on November 23), stating that the team needs a bit more time to optimize the MMO’s stability. Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures Entertainment have released the first official poster for Spider-Man: No Way Home.
The multiverse Spider-Man threequel is set directly after the events of Spider-Man: Far From Home, with Tom Holland turning to Benedict Cumberbatch’s Dr. Strange for help with the whole “the entire world knows I’m Spider-Man and that’s affecting not just me, but my friends and family too” dilemma, as seen in the first trailer released. Dr. Strange uses a special spell to re-conceal Peter’s identity, but this is an MCU movie, so things don’t go according to plan, and the multiverse opens.

Hogwarts Legacy is seemingly slated to launch after the theatrical release of Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore in 2022.
Reddit user SeerPumpkin shared a Toy World magazine interview in which Warner Bros. General Manager Rachel Wakley hinted that the release window for Hogwarts Legacy, the highly anticipated open-world action RPG set in the world of Harry Potter, would come after the next Fantastic Beasts movie, though she didn't specify an exact release date.
Speaking about the Wizarding World IP, Wakley touched on some new developments coming through next year. Konami has announced that it has temporarily removed the sale of multiple versions of Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3 from sale on digital stores.
The temporary removal of the games is due to Konami needing to renew the licenses for some historical archive footage that is used in the games.
“We are currently working on renewing the licenses for select historical archive footage used in-game, therefore, we have made the temporary decision to begin suspending the sale of METAL GEAR SOLID 2, METAL GEAR SOLID 3 and all products that include these games from digital storefronts globally starting from November 8th, 2021,” explained a post on Konami’s website.
Being removed from sale are the following games:
“We sincerely ask for your patience and understanding as we work towards making these products available for purchase once again,” concluded the post. No timeframe or end date was given for when the games can be expected to return for sale.

I picked my mailbox up this morning. The wrong button. I meant to open it, but then blam: it was gone, and it had moved to my inventory. I did not know that you could do that. It was a reminder that after - jeepers! - 185 hours of the latest Animal Crossing there are still things that surprise me.
But those things have been scarce of late. I still log on every day, yet like Billy Bones I have mainly been scanning the horizon. For the last few months I've been logging on for Redd and Redd alone, the fox who turns up in a boat that pours black smoke into the sky and contains art treasures, crated together in the gloom, the real and the fake alike. I have worried somewhat. I can still find pleasure in the flittering butterfly or the sight of Gulliver on the beach, but the truth is hard to deny: once my art gallery is finished, I will struggle to come back as regularly.
