Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot New-Gen Version Gets January Release Date In New Trailer

1 year 6 months ago

Bandai Namco has released a new trailer for the new-gen release of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot alongside news that it hits PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in January.

More specifically, Kakarot comes to new-gen consoles on January 13, 2023, meaning we're just a few months away from this re-release. To accompany today's news, Bandai Namco has released a new trailer showcasing some of DBZ's most iconic moments alongside some comparison clips between the PlayStation 4/Xbox One version of Kakarot and the upcoming new-gen update. Unsurprisingly, it looks a lot better.

Check it out for yourself below:

Kakarot on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S features updated visuals that look even better than the original release and 60 frames-per-second gameplay. If you already own the game, you can upgrade to the new-gen version of Kakarot for free.

This new trailer also teases what's to come in the game's second season pass. The first DLC is called Bardock: Alone Against Fate, and it's a new story arc. Two more story arc DLCs are in the season pass as well. Plus, Season Pass 2 owners will get a cooking item that increases HP and Ki defense.

While waiting for January, read Game Informer's Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot review to find out why we think the game is flawed but still highly enthralling.

Wild Hearts monster hunter EA new gameplay trailer

Dynasty Warriors developer Omega Force and EA revealed Wild Hearts last week, giving players a glimpse of what's to come in this new beast-hunting game.

You craft new weapons and armor along the way, growing stronger and stronger with each hunt, as you attempt to rid the land of Azuma of these beasts. The reveal trailer released last week gave some quick glimpses of what that looks like, but a new gameplay trailer showcases seven minutes of Wild Hearts gameplay.

Check it out for yourself below:

Dead Space Remake Gameplay Trailer Showcases Necromorphs

1 year 6 months ago

Dead Space Remake

EA Motive revealed the first gameplay trailer from its in-development remake of Dead Space on October 4, 2022. As an update of the 2008 original, it's simply called Dead Space and is intended to relaunch the franchise. The last Dead Space title released was Dead Space 3, in 2013. The remake will launch on January 27, 2023 for PC and current-generation consoles.

Check out the Dead Space remake gameplay trailer below.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTDJNZ9cK1w

The Dead Space remake trailer closely evokes the 2008 original, with little substantial deviation from the core premise. As before, the game takes place aboard the USG Ishimura, a corporate-owned mining vessel in orbit over a mysterious planet. The Ishimura sent out a distress call after being overrun by mysterious, deadly creatures known as Necromorphs. Isaac Clarke, the protagonist, is part of the repair crew sent to investigate and assist. The gameplay is also similar, with an emphasis on third-person horror action. The Necromorphs are best dealt with by severing their limbs, and Isaac's kit of repurposed engineering tools serves the purpose nicely. Isaac's plasma cutter, RIG suit (with its glowing spine standing in for a health meter), and suit powers, such as Kinesis and Stasis, are all showcased.

For comparison, you can check out a launch trailer from the original at this link.

Voice of Cards: The Beasts of Burden Exercises Imagination

1 year 6 months ago

voice of cards beasts of burden header

Voice of Cards: The Beasts of Burden is the third entry of Square Enix's Voice of Cards series, released less than a year after the previous title, The Forsaken Maiden. It is a JRPG that feels like a tabletop RPG (TTRPG) due to its usage of cards for the entire game. As one may expect from a Yoko Taro work, the story is hauntingly beautiful, and occasionally upsetting. It is nothing as sad as NieR Automata or unsettling as Drakengard, thankfully. Its short length definitely left me wanting more, which is in stark contrast to how I wanted things to stop in the two aforementioned games.

Despite The Beasts of Burden’s uniquely minimalist aesthetic when it comes to the world’s environment, I never felt bored. This is due to the narration throughout. Yui Ishikawa is a fantastic game master with a soothing cadence. The game also employs certain tactics to make it feel like a real TTRPG. For example, Ishikawa sometimes says a line twice, as if she stuttered and had to repeat herself. I do not know if these were on a script, or are genuine bloopers. But it gives the game an organic RPG feel that is so different from other games that it remained charming throughout.

Wild Hearts is anything but a big boar in new 7-minute gameplay trailer

1 year 6 months ago

Following its official reveal last week, seven minutes of new gameplay footage from developer Omega Force's upcoming monster hunting adventure Wild Hearts has been shared online.

Wild Hearts, a collaboration between EA Originals and Koei Tecmo's Omega Force (the studio behind the long-running Warriors series), transplants the creature battling formula most closely associated with Capcom's Monster Hunter games to a fantastical feudal Japan where up to three players can battle mysterious beasts known as Kemono.

Omega Force - which has previous experience in the monster hunting genre, courtesy of its two Toukiden games - has now expanded on Wild Hearts' initial reveal with seven minutes of new, largely uninterrupted gameplay footage.

How to Get Legacy Credits in Overwatch 2 & What They’re Used For

1 year 6 months ago

Overwatch 2 ushered in the end of loot boxes for the franchise and the beginning of the Battle Pass. Overwatch Coins are also replacing Overwatch Credits. But there’s one more part of the game’s economy. Here’s everything you need to know about how to get Legacy Credits in Overwatch 2 and what they’re used for.

If you go into the game shop and look for Legacy Credits there, you won’t find anything. They’re a special currency that cannot be purchased through any means. There’s only one method for obtaining them.

How to Get Legacy Credits in Overwatch 2

If you had any leftover Overwatch Credits in the original game, then they will carry over to Overwatch 2 in the form of Legacy Credits. There is no other way to obtain more of this currency once it has all been used up, so spend wisely.

It’s also important to make sure that you’re using the same Battle.net account across both games, or else the Credits from Overwatch won’t transfer to Overwatch 2.

What Legacy Credits Are Used for in Overwatch 2

Legacy Credits can be used to buy anything that you can get with Overwatch Coins in Overwatch 2. When selecting an item to buy from the shop, it’ll ask if you would like to use one currency or the other. Select Legacy Credits, then click YES to finalize your purchase.

That’s all there is to know about how to get Legacy Credits in Overwatch 2 and what they’re used for. Since this currency is highly limited, it’s best to make sure that you really want whatever it is you buy with them.

What Is Project Orion (Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel)? Theory Explained

1 year 6 months ago

While Cyberpunk 2077 was a big hot mess at launch, especially on last-gen consoles, it’s safe to say that CD Projekt Red has largely managed to escape any long-term damage to the studio’s glowing reputation. Thanks to a recent cavalcade of announcements, it’s clear that the company has ambitious plans for the future, and is gearing up to deliver a handful of promising titles. Down below, we’re going to detail what Project Orion will be and round up all the relevant intel for your reading pleasure. So, without further delay, here’s what CD Projekt Red’s new Project Orion will be.

New CD Projekt Red IP Orion Explained

The newly revealed Project Orion is set to be an official sequel to 2020’s hugely divisive sci-fi action RPG, Cyberpunk 2077. According to CD Projekt Red, Project Orion will allegedly “take the Cyberpunk franchise further and continue harnessing the potential of this dark future universe.”

Furthermore, we now know for sure that Project Orion (aka the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel) will be developed by CD Projekt Red and will not be outsourced to a third-party developer, which bodes well for the authenticity of the title.

Interestingly, the Cyberpunk follow-up is not yet in active development, which is probably understandable given the sheer number of projects the company currently has in the pipeline. However, Project Orion is apparently currently in pre-production.

What Is Project Sirius (Witcher Project)? Theory Explained

1 year 6 months ago

CD Projekt Red has been skating on thin ice since the shaky launch of Cyberpunk 2077, as fans were disappointed with the bugs and content that they got upon release. Slowly but surely, however, the studio is clawing its way back from controversy, and a string of recent announcements paints a bright future, albeit extremely ambitious. Here we’re discussing what Project Sirius Is, the newly announced Witcher game.

Project Sirius Witcher Game Explained

While the rest of the projects announced earlier this month by CDPR are in-house and developed by the studio itself, Project Sirius isn’t. Instead, it’s being handled by The Molasses Flood, the studio behind The Flame in the Flood, an acclaimed survival game.

So far, details about its design, gameplay, and story premise are few and far between. All we have to go on is what the company has so far described during the aforementioned announcement. Project Sirius is described as “an innovative take on The Witcher universe” that is set to tell an “unforgettable story.”

Given what we know about The Molasses Flood’s background in survival games, it’s highly likely Projekt Sirius will feature some sort of survival component. We also know for certain that it will include multiplayer gameplay in addition to the single-player experience.

Of course, The Witcher has in the past branched out to multiplayer gameplay with its Gwent spin-off, but it’s unlikely Project Sirius is a mini-game-type experience. If we had to guess, we think Project Sirius could be something similar to Drake Hollow, The Molasses Flood’s other notable hit, which launched in 2020.

How To Fix Error Code BC-153 in Overwatch 2

1 year 6 months ago

Overwatch 2 hasn’t had the most smooth launch into free-to-play. As a matter of fact, it’s been plagued by plenty of errors and even some malicious attacks. As things begin to wind down from the turbulent launch, errors that pop up get easier to solve, and that is the case here. Here’s how to fix the BC-153 error code in Overwatch 2.

Fixing Overwatch 2 BC-153 Error Code

As said, it’s highly likely you are getting the BC-153 error code due to the launch problems that persist. Considering Overwatch 2 was hit by a DDoS attack, all the kinks are still being worked out. With this, being patient will probably get you just as far as any fix.

However, if you would still like to try a few things to see if you can breathe life into the game and get over the error code hump, we have some solutions. You should always take a look at our Overwatch 2 guide for checking server status.

First up, start with the reliable miracle cure of fully closing out of the game. If you’re on PC, closing your Battle.net launcher is also highly recommended. If possible, It can’t hurt to restart your console.

Going off of that for consoles, you can also turn off your network and turn it back on. For PlayStation users, you can temporarily break your connection with the Test Network Connection option in your settings. For Xbox, choosing Go Offline in your Network options and then waiting a minute before re-enabling it might make a difference.

Gotham Knights: The Final Preview

1 year 6 months ago

Over the course of our month long IGN First coverage, we saw a lot about the world and lore of Gotham Knights – the crafting and gear mechanics, the suits and customization options – but there’s been one big green riddler-esque question mark surrounding the whole game up to this point: How does it play? Well, I played about three hours of it at a recent hands-on event, and the answer is… complicated. What’s for certain, at least, is that Gotham Knights is a wildly ambitious effort that feels appropriately massive and dense, to the point where even a heavily guided three-hour demo felt like just a scratch on the surface.

My demo was broken into four chunks: I played the tutorial that involved following a lead on Batman’s last case, then jumped into a new save to play the first chapter of Harley Quinn’s multi-part villain arc, then continued with several open-world challenges related to Harley’s story, and to put a cap on the event, I jumped to a late-game save that let me and the Internet’s own Destin Legarie face off against Harley in the finale of her arc.

And that leads to one of the main reasons why my takeaways from this event are complicated: Gotham Knights is a game that is centered around building up your character, setting and understanding your own skills and gear, and developing your own playstyle – something that I just didn’t get to do, since I was jumping around to different save files and trying out the different characters. Without that, the combat felt like it was missing a key ingredient.

Disney Plus Has Finally Launched a PS5 App With 4K HDR Support

1 year 6 months ago

A new Disney Plus app is now available for Sony's PlayStation 5 that allows users to stream their favourite movies, TV shows, originals, and more in 4K HDR quality.

As noted by The Verge, PS5's former version of the Disney+ app was actually a PS4 app that was running on the newer console, which meant visuals were capped at 1080p resolution, whereas the relaunched Disney+ app has been designed natively for PS5 and now supports 4K High-Dynamic Range playback across the service's growing catalogue of titles.

"A key part of our global expansion strategy is to meet consumers wherever they are, which is why we're excited to enhance Disney+ for PlayStation 5 users," Jerrell Jimerson, EVP of Product and Design for Disney Streaming, said in a press release. "The ability to support 4K HDR video streaming on the platform will also improve the viewing experience for fans."

The relaunch of the Disney+ app on PS5 comes a couple of months before the streamer rolls out a new subscription model that includes the launch of an ad-supported membership tier. The ad-supported subscription will be available on December 8 for $7.99 a month, while the ad-free subscription will now be known as the "Premium" tier at $10.99 a month.

Stadia-Exclusive Gylt Goes Multiplatform Next Year

Last week, Google announced it plans to shut down Stadia on January 18. One of the less-discussed casualties of the news was that Tequila Works’ Gylt, a horror adventure game and the first Stadia-exclusive title, would disappear entirely. Thankfully, that won’t be the case.

Tequila Works has confirmed that it plans to make Gylt multiplatform in 2023. It doesn’t specify which platforms the game will become available on, but it’s a relief to know that one of Stadia’s few original gems won’t be lost to history.

PlayStation Stars, Sony’s New Loyalty Program, Is Now Live In North And South America

1 year 6 months ago

Sony announced its new gaming loyalty program, PlayStation Stars, back in July, and the service is now live in North and South America. PlayStation users can sign up for the free program, but there’s one big caveat.

PlayStation Stars allows players to earn points and digital collectibles by completing “campaigns,” which range from completing small objectives while playing games to larger monthly challenges. Any PlayStation player can join Stars; you don’t need a Plus subscription.

Completing campaigns also raises your Star Status, a leveling system consisting of four ranks. Everyone begins at Level 1, but doing things like purchasing games from PSN or earning a certain number of trophy rarities raises this level, increasing the quality of rewards you earn.

Digital rewards, which Sony confirmed are not NFTs and cannot be resold, include models of old PlayStation consoles and characters from first-party titles. You can also redeem points to use as funds for your digital store wallet and to purchase DLC. Points remain available for 24 months after earning them.

Pokemon Mega Get: Nagetore Box Will Bring Many QoL Improvements

1 year 6 months ago

Pokemon Mega Get Nagetore Box

The Poke Ball-throwing arcade game Pokemon Mega Get will have a new cabinet with quality-of-life improvements. Bandai Namco has revealed a new Nagetore (Throw [and] Take) Box cabinet that it will formally release in October 2022.

Pokemon Mega Get is an arcade game where players generally throw Poke Balls toward the screen. Numerous Pokemon will appear on the screen, and the player will have to throw the balls accurately to catch them. A Legendary Pokemon will appear after the player has successfully caught 100 regular Pokemon. Early menu navigations like stage selection will also require the player to throw a ball toward their choice.

The first iteration of Mega Get appeared in 2016, with the roster covering up to the sixth-generation Kalos region. Bandai Namco has since updated the game to add newer Pokemon from the seventh-generation Alola and eighth-generation Galar regions.

The new Nagetore Box cabinet will bring many quality-of-life improvements to the arcade game. The box will come with a bench so that players can enjoy the game while sitting. It will also have a larger screen, increasing from 32 to 43 inches. The more closed environment will make the balls less likely to stray far away. Other friends and onlookers can also observe and record videos more safely.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Explains the Real World Implications of Cyberpsychosis Better Than the Game

1 year 6 months ago

Cyberpunk remains the talk of the internet, with interest in the franchise resurging to an all-time high thanks to the combination of constant updates to the main game and the huge success of Netflix’s Cyberpunk Edgerunners. For those out of the loop, the critically successful anime is set in the same universe of Cyberpunk 2077 and explores the rise of an upcoming punk named David Martinez.

Fans of the game will appreciate the attention to detail that Studio Trigger put into the show, along with the memorable characters and unique art style. However, an underrated aspect of the show is how it explores certain concepts from the game that might have gone over the heads of many players: the concept of cyberpsychosis.

***Spoilers for Cyberpunk 2077 & Cyberpunk: Edgerunners***

Before examining the concept of cyberpsychosis more thoroughly, it’s important to understand the real-life inspiration behind the fictional mental illness. Cyberpsychosis is based heavily on psychosis which is a condition where people lose touch with reality and start seeing hallucinations and start believing in delusions. Sound familiar? The causes of psychosis can include traumatic experiences, drug/alcohol abuse, side effects of prescribed medication, and much more.

What Kind of Pill Did Imperial Officer Dedra Meero Take in Star Wars Andor? Answered

1 year 6 months ago

Star Wars is filled with all sorts of futuristic medicine: bacta is the best example as it has a miracle drug reputation. In The Axe Forgets episode of Andor ISB, agent Deedra Meero takes a pill while researching the theft of imperial property across the galaxy. What kind of advanced medicine did she take? Here’s everything you need to know about what kind of pill Imperial Officer Dedra Meero took in Andor.

What Kind of Pill Did Dedra Meero Take in Star Wars Andor?

The type of pill Lieutenant Meero took is most likely Star Wars headache medicine, especially one with caffeine, so she can stay focused on her investigation. She will likely discover a pattern in the thefts that has a greater impact on the show and leads to a confrontation between her and Cassian Andor.

Dedra Meero is determined to be the best Imperial Security Bereau officer she can be, but she should be careful, or she could end up like Syril Karn. Karn clearly took things too far in his pursuit of Cassian Andor on Ferrix and disobeyed the chief inspector; in the end, he loses his job, and we see him in this episode living with his mother.

That’s everything we have on what kind of pill Lieutenant Meero takes in Andor. Check out some of our other Andor content, like what is Andor’s budget, what the Rakatan Empire is, and is Mon Mothma’s husband an Imperial.

A Critically Acclaimed Bruce Willis Sci-Fi Actioner is Kicking Ass on Streaming

1 year 6 months ago

In Hollywood, action movies are a dime-a-dozen, as bigwigs are always trying to find the next big blockbuster franchise that they can make an insane amount of profits from via pumping out sequel after sequel. Every now and then, though, the genre gets a flick that features not only amazing action but also a solid concept and story.

That is exactly the case with the critically acclaimed 2012 film Looper, starring Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. The movie takes place in a futuristic society where time travel exists but is only available to those with the means to pay for it on the black market.

For the most part, time travel is used when the mob wants to kill someone, as they send someone back into the past to kill the previous version of the target. When they try to close the loop by sending a hitman back to kill his younger self, all hell breaks loose, as the two team up to end the chaos once and for all.

If you haven’t seen the film, then you’re probably thinking Willis isn’t the star that he used to be back during the Die Hard Days, but director and screenwriter Rian Johnson really does get the best out of everyone involved in this film. Thanks to this, Looper managed to get a solid 93 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, as well as some significant staying power recently while streaming on HBO.

According to FlixPatrol, Looper was the platform’s ninth most watched movie as of Monday, Oct. 3, 2022. Not too shabby for a ten-year-old movie, huh?

The Witcher 4: Polaris Is At Least Three Years Away

1 year 6 months ago

CD Projekt Red's next mainline Witcher game, codenamed Polaris, is at least three years away according to studio president and joint CEO Adam Kiciński.

Following the studio's announcement that it plans to release the new Witcher trilogy over six years starting with Polaris, Kiciński was asked during an investors' call when players can expect the next mainline game to be released.

"For Polaris we are preparing technology. This is the first project to be released on the new engine, Unreal Engine 5, [so] there is a need for some extra work making this technology," he said. "For this project, for sure we need some extra effort to deliver."

Kiciński went on to say that the second and third new Witcher trilogy games would go much smoother due to this foundation being created now. He was then asked, as the two "smoother" to develop games will take on average three years each, would it be reasonable to ascertain that the next mainline game is more than three years away, to which Kiciński said yes.

What Do Arvel Skeen’s Tattoos Mean in Star Wars Andor? Krayt Head & By the Hand Explained

1 year 6 months ago

Star Wars Andor isn’t known for being chock-full of easter eggs, but that doesn’t mean Disney didn’t leave a few clues for clever fans to pick up on. In The Axe Forgets, Arvel Skeen has a few tattoos that Andor recognizes immediately but doesn’t explain well. Here’s everything you need to know about what Arvel Skeen’s tattoos mean.

What Does the Krayt Head Mean?

The first tattoo Andor sees is the Krayt Head, an important relic of Tusken Raiders, over a barcode. The Krayt Dragon is the most dangerous animal on Tatooine, and yet another reference to Knights of the Old Republic. The bar code could identify Skeen as one of the thousands of prisoners or slaves, likely on Tatooine. References to the old Bioware game could build up to a big reveal or just be a sign that Disney pays close attention to Expanded Universe content.

What Does By the Hand Mean?

Skeen’s second tattoo vaguely looks like a hand, and Cassian identifies it as “By the hand.” This could be a connection to the Hand of Thrawn, an offshoot of the Empire charged with fending off extragalactic threats. Andor also says, “They built a lot of cages,” which implies there is something fishy going on in the Hand of Thrawn that involved beings in cages. This organization is heavily featured in the Hand of Thrawn duology by Timothy Zahn.
