Company of Heroes 3 delayed to February 2023

1 year 6 months ago

Sega has announced a three-month delay to Company of Heroes 3, which will now arrive on 23rd February 2023.

Announcing the hold-up this afternoon, Sega said Relic Entertainment's real-time strategy threequel was currently "not quite up to our players' or our own high standards", with "bugs to squash, pixels to polish, gameplay to adjust and feedback to address".

On that last point, Sega says developer Relic is continuing to react to community feedback on improvements to the game's dynamic campaign map, a stronger visual focus on "grit and details" during battles, an overhauled light system, plus tweaks to the HUD and UI.

Exactly how realistic are horses in games?

1 year 6 months ago

How much do you know about horses? I don't know very much. As far as I'm concerned, they really can do press-ups like Roach in The Witcher 3, or double-jump like Torrent in Elden Ring.

Alice Ruppert knows a lot more about horses than I do. She's been obsessed with them ever since she was a child. She would draw them, play games about them, and many years later she would eventually make games about them.

How she got her horse-break in games makes for a great origin story. The way she tells it, she complained so much about bad horse representation in games that eventually someone gave her a job and told her to do better, and that's what she's doing now, making Horse Tales: Emerald Valley Ranch, which is coming out really soon.

Genshin Impact Scaramouche Story Teaser Focuses on Betrayal

1 year 6 months ago

Genshin Impact Scaramouche

HoYoVerse uploaded its latest Genshin Impact story teasers for all to see, and this one focuses on Scaramouche. Sixth of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers, Scaramouche is known as "The Balladeer" and is a major antagonist in the story. Scaramouche was first introduced as part of the 2020 "Unreconciled Stars" event, and appeared again briefly in the Version 2.0 story quests. However, his most direct involvement in the main story came along with the Genshin Impact Version 3.0 update. The Genshin Impact Scaramouche story teaser gives players more insight into The Balladeer's motivations.

Check it out below. This cutscene also plays in the game itself, during Archon Quest Chapter III: Act III.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDQ7m2L9sK8

The Scaramouche story teaser is narrated by the character himself, voiced in English by Patrick Pedraza. It goes down the list of the key "betrayals" Scaramouche experienced in his life, which motivated him to eventually join the Fatui and seek to purge the world of "all human emotion". It also recounts Scaramouche's personal history, his connection to the Raiden Shogun, and his life in Inazuma before joining the Fatui.

Dead Space Debuts Its First Official Gameplay Trailer Teasing Limb-Slicing Horror-Action

1 year 6 months ago

In space no one can hear you cut off those Necromorph limbs… Yes, Dead Space fans, rejoice! The debut footage for EA and Motive Studios’ upcoming sci-fi survival horror has just landed, and it looks like it’s gonna be a doozie. Scheduled to arrive on Jan. 27, 2023, the much-anticipated remake is poised for a triumphant return to form following many years of being in stasis.

Behold the brand new gameplay trailer down below, though be warned, it’s pretty gory stuff:

What’s instantly recognizable from this latest video is how genuinely authentic and lovingly crafted this remake appears to be. Everything sounds and looks exactly how we remember it, which is always a massive plus in our books. Indeed, Isaac Clarke’s upcoming adventure can’t come soon enough.

Amazingly, the last title in the iconic series was almost ten years ago and was developed by the now defunct Visceral Games. More specifically, 2013’s Dead Space III, which is widely considered to be a critically maligned sequel that traded the scares for even more accessible balls-to-the-wall action, was largely a misfire for many devotees of the franchise. Personally, I actually liked it, but I digress.

How to Build New Houses in Hokko Life

1 year 6 months ago

One key element to Hokko Life is inviting new villagers to the town of Hokko. But before new residents can move in, they need houses to move into. That’s where you come in! This guide tells you everything you need to know about building new houses and moving new villagers into them.

Gather the Necessary Resources

There are a variety of house designs to choose from at Rosa’s Real Estate Office. While you have access to all of the designs from the day the Real Estate Office opens, you won’t yet be able to craft the necessary resources for most of them. The house designs and their resource requirements are:

  • Level 1. 16 wooden planks, 400 coins
  • Level 2. 3 stone slabs, 10 wooden planks, 5 bricks, 620 coins
  • Level 3. 20 stone slabs, 15 red wood planks, 880 coins
  • Level 4. 20 stone slabs, 15 red wood planks, 5 bricks, 1120 coins

Initially, the only design you’ll be able to gather the resources for is the basic level house because you can only craft wooden planks. As you learn to craft other resources, you’ll be able to build a wider variety of homes.

A Plague Tale: Requiem Preload, Unlock Times, & Install Sizes Explained

1 year 6 months ago

The sequel to one of 2019’s indie gems is nearly upon us, and if you’re similar to us in that you absolutely cannot wait to get started, you’ll be pleased to know that you won’t have to wait much longer. Here’s everything you need to know about A Plague Tale: Requiem preload, unlock times, and its install size ahead of the game’s launch.

A Plague Tale: Requiem Preload & Unlock Times

As is typical with many games these days, while A Plague Tale Requiem is set for release on Oct. 18, 2022, across all platforms, you can actually preload the file well before then, so it’s ready to go as soon as possible. The preload and unlock times are as follows:

  • Xbox – Preload has already begun as of Oct. 4
  • PlayStation – Preload is not yet available
  • PC – Preload has already begun via the Xbox App as of Oct. 4

In all cases, the unlock times appear to be 12 am local time on Oct. 18 from the information we currently have. We’ll update this information if anything changes.

Install Sizes

We only have information for two platforms as of right now; on PC, the game is approximately 47GB, while on the Xbox Series X|S, the file size is slightly larger at approximately 51GB.

It is safe to assume that those playing on PS4/PS5 should expect an install size of roughly the same, around 50GB.

For now, that’s all the information we have on A Plague Tale: Requiem’s preload, unlock times, and install size. For more useful tips and guides on the game, including the latest story trailer, search Twinfinite or check out the related content listed below.

Playing the Flat Eye demo just makes me want to run a futuristic Icelandic gas station

I love Steam Next Fest season, because you can go from "Oh this is from those devs who did that thing? Huh. Hadn't heard of this," to "holy video game, Batman, this is the absolute business" in the space of a free demo. This is what I experienced with Flat Eye, a story-heavy management sim where you're in charge of a super-advanced gas station, where you harvest personal data from the port-a-loos, and feed the biological matter from those same toilets into your high-tech vending machine. Mmmmm. Flat Eye, the Next Fest demo for which you can download and play right now, is from Night Call devs Monkey Moon. I liked Night Call fine, but I really love the Flat Eye demo.

Dead Space Remake Shows Off Its First Gameplay

1 year 6 months ago

EA Motive has unveiled a new trailer for its Dead Space remake, teasing some of the nightmarish horrors that await players in the sci-fi survival horror game.

The terrifying teaser follows Dead Space protagonist Isaac Clarke as he navigates the eerie, echoing corridors and workspaces aboard the mining ship, USG Ishimura, where something has gone horribly wrong. He is shown sidling around the vessel to investigate the situation while fighting off any Necromorphs that come into his seemingly treacherous path.

The game features a new damage system called peeling, which actually allows players to shoot the flesh off of Necromorphs. It's a grotesque visual treat that also serves as a sort of diegetic health bar for enemies, much like Isaac Clarke's spine-mounted lights, which deplete as the user takes damage from the deadly ship-dwellers.

Motive's take on Dead Space has been rebuilt from the ground up in EA's Frostbite engine, with Assassin's Creed Valhalla game director Eric Baptizat at the helm alongside creative director Roman Campos-Oriola, who previously promised "all new assets, new character models, [and] new environments" based on the original game designs.

The game's developers turned to diehard fans to help keep them on track in offering all-new gameplay content and improvements while staying faithful to the vision of the original game. The remake team consulted with their very own community council every six weeks to get their opinions on a variety of "polarizing" topics during the project's development.

Cover Reveal – Bayonetta 3

1 year 6 months ago

Nearly four years after its reveal, Bayonetta 3 is finally on the horizon and graces Game Informer’s cover this month. Platinum Games’ long-awaited threequel doesn’t rest on the laurels of its beloved predecessors. Gaming’s favorite witch has new tricks up her sleeves in the forms of Demon Masquerade and Demon Slave, letting players utilize their demonic minions in combat in new, kaiju-sized ways. If one Bayonetta wasn’t enough, a multiversal storyline introduces several variants that bring their unique brands of flair. At the center of this crisis stands newcomer Viola, the second playable character and rookie Umbra Witch, who serves as a mysterious key to the game’s events.

I took a trip to Nintendo of America headquarters to play Bayonetta 3, tearing through portions of the opening hours as Bayonetta and Viola. In addition to sharing our hands-on impressions, I interviewed Platinum Games’ top brass via email, including game director Yusuke Miyata and supervising director Hideki Kamiya, to get the skinny on Bayonetta 3’s long development and answers to the burning questions surrounding its gameplay and story. Our beautiful cover art features Bayonetta flaunting her Demon Masquerade ability by channeling the power of Madama Butterfly, who appears on the back cover in her full, demonic glory.

Sony says its PlayStation games won't release on PC for "at least a year"

1 year 6 months ago

PlayStation Studios head Hermen Hulst has revealed Sony's first-party PlayStation releases will likely take "at least a year" to launch on PC, although live-service games might come sooner.

Sony initially confirmed it was exploring bringing its first-party PlayStation exclusives to PC in March 2020, announcing that Horizon Zero Dawn would lead the charge - although it said "releasing one first-party AAA title to PC doesn't necessarily mean that every game now will come to PC" and that it didn't have plans to follow Xbox's lead with day-and-date PC releases.

Since then, following the successful launch of Horizon Zero Dawn on PC, the number of titles joining the platform has continued to grow. Days Gone, God of War, and Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered have already made the jump, with Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Uncharted: The Legacy Collection, and Sackboy: A Big Adventure confirmed to be on the way.

How To Fix Overwatch 2 Login Error

1 year 6 months ago

With the full Overwatch 2 release right around the corner, a few errors here and there are kind of expected. While errors are never fun, there is always a fix to try, and we are pretty knowledgeable about this sort of thing. Here’s how to fix the Overwatch login error.

Overwatch 2 Login Error Fix

At present (Oct. 4) you are likely seeing this because the full free-to-play launch of Overwatch 2 is a mere few hours away for at least the United States, which means the servers are experiencing a bit of strain as Blizzard preps for launch. Due to this, the error isn’t likely something you can fix, things will just have to mellow out.

While we are rather certain the current issues are caused by the free-to-play release, it is always a good idea to check our Overwatch 2 server status guide just to make sure the problem isn’t only affecting you. Your best places to go for this are the Technical Support Forums for Overwatch 2 as well as ol’ reliable Downdetector. Even if the forums don’t tell you anything, Downdetector is the magical secret keeper and can’t be fooled.

While this is the basic easy test, close the game completely and relaunch it. For PC players, it might help to fully close your Battle.net launcher. From here just restart the game, and it might fix your issues.

Who Is the Witch from the Opening of Hocus Pocus 2?

1 year 6 months ago

Hocus Pocus 2 introduces several new characters, with one such character being a new witch played by Hannah Waddingham, a witch that existed in the world of Hocus Pocus before even the Sanderson Sisters. So, who is this new witch from the opening of the Hocus Pocus sequel? Let’s take a look at what we know about this enigmatic character.

Warning: Spoilers for Hocus Pocus 2 are below.

The Identity of the Witch From the Opening of Hocus Pocus 2 Explained

There isn’t too much information that we know at this time about who precisely this witch is, as she only makes a full appearance in the opening of the movie. We do, however, still know a few things about her; for instance, she is older than the Sanderson Sisters, as she is the one that bestowed Book and magic upon the trio. The Witch also states to the girls that she had a coven of sisters, but unfortunately for us, doesn’t reveal why they are no longer around.

Something else worth mentioning is that the Witch has the ability to turn into a crow, as she is seen doing when she first attacks the sisters, before realizing that they are special. This is important because the very same crow design is seen in the film’s final moments, which seemingly confirms that the Witch has been able to stay alive for centuries and has been watching over the movie’s events. What exactly this means is unknown, but there is reason to believe that it is setting up a potential Hocus Pocus 3.

Is Mon Mothma’s Husband Loyal to the Empire? Answered

1 year 6 months ago

One of the original trilogy characters from Star Wars who hasn’t been featured in recent shows and movies is Mon Mothma. Since her appearance in last week’s Andor episode, you might very well be wondering who exactly she is and where her allegiances lie. Here’s everything you need to know on whether Mon Mothma’s husband is loyal to the Empire.

Is Perrin Fertha Loyal to the Empire? Answered

In episode 4 of the Cassian Andor show, Senator Mon Mothma has a secret meeting with Luthen Rael, under the guise of gift shopping for her husband. She doesn’t mention this meeting to Perrin when they are alone in their dining room and decides to return the gift because she doesn’t like the guests he invited to their dinner with the governor of Hanna, the capital of Chandrila. The guests, Ars Dangor and Sly Moore, are known associates of Emperor Palpatine and frequently oppose Mon Mothma’s bills in the Senate. All these factors together point to Perrin Fertha being a true-blue Imperial.

Who Is Mon Mothma’s Husband in Star Wars Andor?

Perrin Fertha is a Chandrilan played by accomplished actor Alastair Mackenzie. He enjoys the luxurious lifestyle of Imperial Senators and their families; additionally, he may have aspirations of greater power based on his association with Ars Dangor and Sly Moore and his understanding of politics. Perrin may have met Palpatine before the Clone Wars when he was a senator and supported him ever since.

Can You Play Overwatch 2 on Steam Deck? Answered

Overwatch 2 Steam Deck Compatibility Explained

Put simply, yes, you can play Overwatch 2 on Steam Deck. That’s because while many live service games feature kernel-level anti-cheat software that Steam Deck tends not to like, Overwatch 2 does not.

That’s the good news. The bad news is that getting the game running on Steam Deck isn’t quite as straightforward as you might hope, and that’s due to Battle.net requiring a bunch of extra steps to actually install.

Installing Blizzard.net & Overwatch 2 on Steam Deck

This is again no guarantee that this might happen, but it is something that PlayStation is obviously considering. You can see the full video interview below. Be aware that besides Herman Hulst’s responses, the entire video is in French.
