Dead or Alive 6 Atelier Ryza & Gust DLC Released for $39.99 With New Screenshots of All the Costumes

4 years 2 months ago

Today Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja are rolling out two DLC packages for Dead or Alive 6, featuring the Atelier series and Gust games as a theme.

As previously announced, the crossover will include the “Atelier Ryza” Mashup Costumes (from Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout) and the “Gust” Mashup Costumes, including respectively three and 16 costumes.

The former costs $8.99, while the latter is priced at $34.99. If you want both, you can grab a bundle for $39.99.

Do keep in mind that the DLC is available only in some stores at the moment, but it will propagate across all storefronts and regions throughout the day.

Luckily the costumes showcased here are included in the season pass, unlike from the previously-released Alluring Mandarin Dress set.

Today we also got update 1.20 that fixed “various issues” and added the ability to change the color of characters’ hair among 16 hues at the price of a premium ticket only on PS4.

It remains to be seen whether Koei Tecmo will implement a way to do this on Xbox One or PC.

Half-Life Remake Black Mesa Officially Launching in March

4 years 2 months ago

Black Mesa, the standalone remake of the original Half-Life game, is finally leaving Steam Early Access on March 5, developer Crowbar Collective announced.

While Black Mesa has been in Steam Early Access since May 2015, the game itself has been in some form of development since its announcement in 2005 as a volunteer project using the Half-Life 2 Source engine.

“As I write this, I am realizing that we plan to FINISH Black Mesa exactly 14 years to the month from when I first joined the team,” wrote Crowbar Collective head Adam Engels in a Steam blog post. “14 years working on a single project, with a dedicated team, that had a vision, and saw it through.”

It was first released as a free game approved and released through Steam’s crowdvoting service Steam Greenlight in 2012. In 2013, Valve gave its blessing to Crowbar Collective to turn the free game into a commercial product.

Black Mesa launched into Steam Early Access in 2015 with most of Half-Life’s content, except for the later-game Xen levels. The team then spent another four years redesigning the levels with the first levels in June 2019 and the final levels added last December.

Engels also wrote that the team plans to “fully support this game after 1.0 with bug fixes and more” after it launches March 5 on Steam.

Snack World: The Dungeon Crawl – Gold Review – Meh-verlasting Mobstopper

4 years 2 months ago

Snack World: The Dungeon Crawl – Gold is difficult to quantify. At times, it is a fun, kid-friendly gateway into the world of dungeon-crawling, but other times it is raunchy and boring. The result is a rollercoaster of an experience —full of ups and downs.

If you never heard of Snack World, you’re in good company. However, the game is a multimedia giant (in Japan) and is helmed by Level-5, a company best known for Professor Layton, Yo-Kai Watch, and Dragon Quest VIII.

Snack World is what would happen if you mixed medieval fantasy tropes such as dragons and orcs with smartphones and convenience stores, shoved them into a blender, and set the machine to puree. The protagonist of this series is a boy named Chup, who is every young, impressionable hero ever made. He has half a decade worth of adventures under his belt, so you would expect him to be the game’s main character, right? Nope. The star of Snack World: The Dungeon Crawl – Gold is a completely unrelated (and amnesiac) character I created at the start of the game.

On the surface, Snack World: The Dungeon Crawl is baby’s first dungeon crawler. It simplified the experience and split areas into small, bite-sized adventures that felt like mobile game missions. This was an unfortunate but understandable holdover from the original version of the game, which was released exclusively in Japan for the Nintendo 3DS.

Paramount Delays Sonic Movie Release In China Amid Coronavirus

4 years 2 months ago

Paramount Pictures announced Monday that they are postponing the China release date of the Sonic the Hedgehog movie due to concerns over the coronavirus spreading far beyond the country, according to Variety.

The Sonic movie was set to debut in China on Feb. 28, but the coronavirus, which originated in the Hubei province’s capital city of Wuhan in December 2019, prompted every movie theater in the country to close their doors indefinitely.

The studio made a statement regarding their decision to delay the release of the film in China until further notice, saying in part:

“Due to the coronavirus situation, the China release date of the film Sonic the Hedgehog will be postponed, and we will announce the new release date at a later time.

Sonic will only be slowing down his pace temporarily, and we look forward to bringing him zooming onto the big screen in China once it is appropriate to do so.”

Paramount also added their thanks to the healthcare providers who are doing their best to combat the coronavirus and help the people affected by it.

“As the whole country and world unite together to fight the outbreak of the coronavirus, we would like to express our gratitude and respect to all the medical staff, the rescue personnel, and people in service who provide us with much-needed assistance and support during this time”

Although Japan has been affected by the coronavirus as well, the Sonic movie is still set to release there on March 27 unless Paramount says otherwise.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons TV Commercials Are as Adorable as You Expect

4 years 2 months ago

Today the Japanese arm of Nintendo released two TV commercials of the upcoming simulation game Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Considering that we’re talking about trailers creating to advertise an Animal Crossing game, I’m pretty sure you know what to expect.

Yet, none of the game’s gregarious animals are featured, with the spotlight placed on our character.

Yet, the commercials are both just as adorable as you’d expect, focusing on the many things we can do in the game.

You can check both out below.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons releases exclusively for Nintendo Switch on March 20, 2020.

This Reddit User Is Recreating Metroid Fusion in Minecraft

4 years 2 months ago

Kotaku reported earlier today that seven years and millions of blocks later Reddit user, Nyubug (Brenden), has shown off their progress on a mission to recreate all of Metroid Fusion within vanilla Minecraft.

That means Brenden is rebuilding an entire game only with the original tools and blocks that are in the base game. No mods or DLC texture packs are being used in this impressive creation.

So far, it looks like Brenden is doing a fantastic job of staying true to the original look and gameplay of Metroid Fusion. As you can see in the video below, this appears to be a nearly perfect recreation of the classic GBA title.

The camera zooming out after Samus reaches the top of the corridor is surreal and it proves that this is the real thing. As the zoom continues you can see the full corridor and a few doors that lead to new rooms.

Kotaku reported that Brenden said, “In all reality I could make just about any 2D snes/gba game if I had the resources.” He currently hasn’t announced any plans to work on building other titles within Minecraft.

According to Kotaku, Brenden is just about finished with his project and that, “Now he’s just adding a bit more polish before releasing the full data pack.”

It will be interesting to see how Nintendo responds to this project if they do at all. A well-known Metroid project called Another Metroid 2 Remake (AM2R) was shut down by Nintendo back in 2016 and the company has a well-documented history of shutting down numerous fan projects.

Xbox Boss Phil Spencer Discusses His Vision of The Future of Consoles, Competition, & Collaboration

4 years 2 months ago

Today the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences published a new episode of its Game Maker’s Notebook Podcast hosted by Insomniac Games’ Ted Price and starring Xbox division head Phil Spencer.

Price asked Spencer what he thinks the future of consoles is like and what he would like them to be ten years from now.

Spencer mentioned that he envisions a future with a variety of devices including streaming-only consoles and more high-end ones, and possibly the ability to access games from all the TVs in our houses.

“I think we’re going to end up with more differences underneath our TVs than we did before. I do think there’ll probably be a plethora of streaming-only consoles that don’t have a disk drive, don’t have a storage device, and everything is coming through, and then it’s how do I get the signal to the TV… maybe some of those are built-in…

I think you’ll see more high-end stuff as well. I just look around and try to pattern-match on things. If I think about video and music… the streaming services that are out there have liberated those media types to all the devices around me. I now have way more devices than I ever had to watch TV.

With the advent of Disney and Netflix and everybody else coming in, it has not lessened the number of devices. It has actually increased. The same is with music. Now I have Spotify in my ear, I have Spotify in my pocket, I have it in my home… I have the ability to connect to my music services across so many different devices with different levels of fidelity… large screens, small screens, stereo sound… sometimes I listen to music with one earpiece only.

Overwatch Experimental Mode: Triple Damage Is Coming This Week

4 years 2 months ago

The first Experimental Modes in Overwatch were finally announced today by Jeff Kaplan in a developer update. The full video can be found below and on YouTube.

Kaplan detailed that this new mode is all about trying out major gameplay modifications that the dev team is interested in testing out. This will also let players give feedback on potential new modes. But, it won’t be a place to test out patches for bug fixes.

These modes are essentially just tests that not even Kaplan and his team are sure will work in practice. They also aren’t meant to be taken as a sign of the way the main game will change in the future.

The first experimental mode is called Triple Damage and it will focus on changing up the team composition requirements. The new requirements will be one tank, three damage and two support.

Their focus for this change will be to see how the new composition will impact damage queue times. Kaplan and the team are also going to be looking at how this change will impact queue times in other game modes.

Triple Damage mode will also include some balance changes to certain characters to make them work better in this kind of setup. For example, since tanks are limited to one, they may get buffs in this mode to make up for the changes.

Kaplan reiterated that this isn’t a sign of how Overwatch is going to change soon or even ever. However, he didn’t completely rule out the possibility of a change like this eventually coming to the regular game modes.

If you’re into testing out new modes, then you’re in luck. Triple Damage and all future experimental modes will go towards your player level, so you can still get your lootboxes for reaching a new level.

That Animal Crossing: New Horizons Companion Guide Is Heavily Discounted Right Now

4 years 2 months ago

If you’re one of those Animal Crossing players that obsess over getting every little thing in the game, even those really obscure hats or glasses, then this official companion book should be in your digital shopping cart ASAP.

I wrote a news story last week about the official guide book for Animal Crossing: New Horizons because its description on Amazon confirmed the return of the museum, which was a feature that’s been present in past Animal Crossing games.

Anyways, the guide book originally went for $29.99, but the book has now been discounted to $17.99, which is like 40% off. We’re not sure why it’s happened but perhaps the excitement over the latest Nintendo Direct was the cause; also, the companion guide is currently in the #1 best sellers for books on Amazon right now.

The 432-page guidebook is the “ultimate reference for anyone who insists on having it all,” and will have details such as primers to get you oriented on the new island, tips to make money fast, and how to find every fossil, fish, and bug, as well as a bunch of other very useful information.

There are also two bookmarks that come included with the guidebook and an online calendar that you can have access to to keep track of special events and upcoming holidays that are going on on your not-so deserted island.

You can buy the book here — it’ll be released on April 9.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons launches for the Nintendo Switch on March 20, 2020.

Animal Crossing Is More Appealing the Older You Get

4 years 2 months ago

When I was younger, the premise of Animal Crossing always seemed ridiculous to me. Paying off a loan by doing mundane tasks? That seemed like the most boring, adult premise to a video game I have ever heard of. But as the years have gone by, and the new Animal Crossing game is on the (new) horizon, I’ve started to find the gameplay loop exceedingly more appealing. But what does age and getting older have to do with it? It’s mostly just a change of perspective and what it means to live a good life.

An unfair critique I gave to Animal Crossing was that the gameplay is boring because the things you do in order to get money and move forward in the game are pretty mundane. This was unfair because I was still enjoying the hell out of games like Harvest Moon and Stardew Valley, where you pretty much just water plants and raise animals to make money.

Things don’t need to be action-packed or wildly different from ordinary life for you to enjoy them. Humans lead pretty boring and uneventful lives, and we still find meaning and enjoyment out of that, but Animal Crossing is better than everyday life for so many reasons.

Streets of Rage 4 Trailer Shows Final Playable Character in Action

4 years 2 months ago

Developer Dotemu dropped the last Streets of Rage 4 character reveal two months ago, and they’re back at it again with a new trailer. The game is set to launch this spring, so Dotemu has finally given us a good look at the final playable character, Floyd Iraia.

Floyd is a big, burly character with two cybernetic arms that help him deal tons of damage with hard-hitting combos. Those arms also give him the longest reach of any playable character in Streets of Rage 4.

With all that power and reach comes a slow movement speed and slower health regeneration than the others, in order to balance him out.

Dotemu also revealed that, for the first time in series history, the game will feature up to four-player couch co-op, as well as two-player online co-op. You’ll be able to choose from any combination of Cherry Hunter, Adam Hunter, Floyd Iraia, Axel Stone, and Blaze Fielding.

Check out the trailer below to see Floyd putting those cybernetic enhancements to work alongside the other characters in Streets of Rage 4:

New Granblue Fantasy Versus Trailer and Screenshots Are All About First DLC Character Beelzebub

4 years 2 months ago

Cygames released a new trailer of its fighting game Granblue Fantasy Versus, focusing on the first DLC character, Beelzebub.

As you may notice from the fact that they’re now using his real name (instead of the pseudonym “Chaos Bringer”), the fighter in Versus will display the villain in his full uncowled glory.

While he can be purchased as DLC, you don’t actually need to unless you really hate the game’s RPG mode, because he’ll be unlocked for free if you clear the mode, which is a nice little bonus.

We also learn the Japanese release date for the DLC, which is March 3. This means that he’ll come on the same day as the western release date of the game. As of now, we don’t know if he’ll be released day and date in the west as well, but it’s possible.

If you do opt to pay, the price in Japan is 300 yen, including a lobby avatar, an icon, two RPG mode quests, and a free weapon in the Granblue Fantasy mobile game.

On top of that, we learn that the trailer for the second DLC character, Narmaya, will be revealed this week on February 27.

You can watch the trailer and screenshots below. We also have some artwork released today on Twitter.

Outer Wilds

Indie Games That Need Sequels ASAP

indie games that need sequels

Outer Wilds was my personal Game of the Year last year (and it was robbed I tells ye!) so no one among the editorial staff is surprised that this is the first pick on my list.

Outer Wilds is a charming space-adventure game. There’s no traditional combat so to speak, you’re just going about a small solar system, exploring the secrets and unraveling more of the plot as you go.

In a nutshell, you’re trying to learn more about the Nomai race, but each of the planets has its own unique mechanic or puzzle element that you need to solve to unearth its secrets and continue on your adventure.

Kojima Productions Skipping GDC Due to Coronovirus Concerns

4 years 2 months ago

Early this morning the studio behind Death Stranding, Kojima Productions, announced their intentions to cancel their participation at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) due to concerns of the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19).

This comes on the back of similar announcements late last week from Sony and Facebook both also citing concerns about the virus which has been spreading rampantly as of late.

In the two-part (one & two) Twitter post, Kojima Productions elaborated that the cancellation includes two sessions from a couple of the biggest names in the studio. These sessions were scheduled to include studio head, Hideo Kojima, and AI Programmer, Eric Johnson.

Kojima’s session was planned to go over the design of Death Stranding. On GDC’s official site we can see what was originally planned for the session:

This will be a rare opportunity for attendees of the March conference to hear, firsthand, about the challenges and triumphs of Death Stranding‘s development. In a special hour-long Design track talk on “Death Stranding’s Design Philosophy” Kojima will unravel this process through an analysis of the game’s concept, theme, storytelling, game mechanics, and development, utilizing the overarching keyword of “connection” as a framework.

The More I Play Fortnite’s New Season, the Better It Gets

4 years 2 months ago

I won’t lie, after the first few games I played of Fortnite’s new season, I wasn’t sure how I felt. The new inhabitants of the island — The Henchmen — pushed the game back into a PvPvE format, but on a scale far larger than the rather basic (and boring) Fortnitemares concept we’d seen before it.

In Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 — as an aside, I’ll never forgive Epic for making their new naming format for seasons such a mouthful — five new locations were introduced to the map; The Shark, The Grotto, The Agency, The Oil Rig, and The Yacht all fit the same theme.

It’s basically spies and super villains, like if James Bond’s world was mashed into the vibrant palette of Fortnite to make a kind of Battle-Royale-spy-shooter-after-it’s-shotgunned-six-cans-of-Red-Bull-affair.

Nioh 2 Reveals Cutscene Featuring Azai Nagamasa & Brutal Single-Player & Multiplayer PS4 Gameplay

As an appetizer to the gameplay, producer Fumihiko Yasuda introduced a short cutscene featuring the entrance of Azai Nagamasa.

Then we moved on to some single-player gameplay, but since it was too challenging for one player, there was a switch to the game’s three-player multiplayer.

Funnily one of the characters had the pre-set look reproducing the likeness of Final Fantasy XIV producer and director Naoki Yoshida.

Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIV Reveals New English Gameplay and Developer Diary Video

4 years 2 months ago

Koei Tecmo released two new videos of the upcoming strategy game Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIV.

The first video is pure gameplay, showing from the point of view of Cao Cao, one of the most popular and iconic warlords of the series and of the Three Kingdoms setting in general.

The second is perhaps even more interesting, as it features a chat about the game among current Producer Kazuhiro Echigoya and Ken Kitami, who covered the same role during the development of Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI. He also used to be Echigoya’s boss.

This is particularly interesting because XIV openly draws inspirations from XI, so it’s nice to hear Kitami’s opinion on the new game.

Hearts of Iron IV: La Resistance Trailer Is All About France; Liberty Won’t Be Censored

4 years 2 months ago

Paradox will soon release a brand new DLC for its World War II grand strategy game Hearts of Iron IV, titled La Resistance, and they just released a new trailer.

This video focuses on one of the big features coming with the DLC, which is the enormous focus three granted to France in order to spice things up.

The new focus tree will enable players to explore alternate history paths including the restoration of the dynasty of Napoleon Bonaparte and various different allegiances and political leanings for the country.

On top of that, we also get a quick look at a smaller feature, the introduction of armored cars.

Interestingly, we hear from 2D Artist Céline Jensen that someone asked her to tone down the iconic naked chest of Liberty portrayed in one of the focuses and she refused.

This specific icon is inspired by Eugène Delacroix’s painting “La Liberté guidant le peuple” commemorating the 1830 July Revolution, which prominently features a woman representing Liberty (also identified as Marianne, portraying the French Republic) with her chest bare and wielding the flag and bayoneted musket as she urges the people onto the barricades.

Dead or Alive Xtreme: Venus Vacation Celebrates Kasumi’s Birthday With Another Gacha

4 years 2 months ago

Today is January 23, which means that Dead or Alive Xtreme: Venus Vacation is celebrating the birthday of one of the most iconic DOA heroines, Kasumi.

Of course, this is is a free-to-play game with optional microtransactions, so the game is celebrating Kasumi’s day with… more microtransactions. You didn’t see this coming did you?

If you’re still wondering what the celebration entails, you likely missed all the previous birthday. Ultimately it isn’t very different from a real birthday. It involves players possibly spending a whole lot of real money in a paid-only gacha to try and get a new SSR costume with extremely low chances of success.

To be more specific you have to throw your hard-earned money at the game hoping to hit that 1.1%, which will require a whole lot of luck. If you’re that lucky, maybe you should get a lottery ticket instead.

As a bonus, by using the birthday cake that comes with your paid gacha, you can enjoy  a special series of beach volley matches, and you can unlock an event which will award you with a ring for Kasumi.

Keep in mind that this is valid only for the Japanese version of the game via DMM. The Steam version in English is behind in content by approximately a year, so it features last year’s birthday event instead.

You can check out the related trailer below, showing the coveted swimsuit included in the gacha.

If you’re unfamiliar with the game, Dead or Alive Xtreme: Venus Vacation, is a free-to-play version of Dead or Alive Xtreme, available only for PC.

Boston Mayor Asks Sony To Reconsider PAX East Attendance Cancellation Due to Coronavirus Outbreak

4 years 2 months ago

A few days ago, Sony Interactive Entertainment announced that it would cancel its attendance to PAX East in Boston due to the Coronavirus outbreak. Today, we hear a notable voice disagreeing with that stance.

As reported by WCVB (via Resetera) Boston’s mayor Marty Walsh addressed a formal letter to Sony’s president and chief executive officer Kenichiro Yoshida formally requesting the company to reconsider its stance.

In the letter, Welsh mentioned that the risk of contracting the new virus in Boston is extremely low and that the city’s officials have no reason to believe that anyone should cancel plans to visit the city.

Welsh also mentioned that fears over the Coronavirus outbreak have been causing the reinforcements of harmful stereotypes.

“These fears reinforce harmful stereotypes that generations of Asians have worked hard to dismantle.

They trigger our worst impulses: to view entire groups of people with suspicion, to close ourselves off, and to miss out on the opportunities and connections our global city provides. Boston is united in our efforts to dispel these harmful and misguided fears.”

He also added that Sony has the opportunity to set a positive example by actually attending the show.

“As a large, international company, you have an opportunity to set a good example.

The first video focuses on the three moons of Microtech that will be introduced in the next alpha 3.9 coming in March.

We get to see some really nice shots of the surface of the moons, which mostly features arctic climates but each has its own flavor.

For instance, one has no ocean, the second has a frozen ocean, while the third’s ocean is fluid.

The second part of the video focuses on the brand new ship coming in the next patch, which has been pretty much the “Holy Grail” of the Star Citizen community for a while, the Anvil Carrack (the screenshots at the top of the post is courtesy of Reddit user bvirgl). The ship is already available for those invited to the Evocati early test.

The second video features a Q&A with Richard Towler and Yogi Klatt from the Vehicle Experience Team as they talk all things spaceships, answering a lot of questions from players.

Speaking of the Carrack, I added a third video from YouTube user Jack Frack, simply because it’s really epic.

PUBG Update Adds Cross-Platform Play for Xbox One and PS4

4 years 2 months ago

The latest PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds update now allows PUBG players on both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 to party up and play together.

The 6.2 update for consoles now live on the PUBG public test server expands the in-game friends list to add friends from a different console to invite into a single party or custom match.

The friends list now contains four tabs: the existing friends list on the current platform, PUBG friends from the other platform, recent players, and the current lobby.

The cross-platform feature only works between Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions, and not PC. The 6.2 update is currently available on the PTS, and will be live for all players on March 3.

The update will also add more detailed waypoints to consoles, which was tested on the PC version last November.

The 6.2 update on PC released earlier this week, and contains many of the changes coming to consoles on March 3, such as grenade changes, loot tuning for new map Karakin, adjusted blue zone effects, and more.

It also added a Team Deathmatch mode where two teams of eight fight over seven maps in first-person perspective with no knockdowns or friendly fire. Teams win rounds by reaching 50 kills or the most kills in 10 minutes, and the first team to win two rounds wins the entire match.

The post PUBG Update Adds Cross-Platform Play for Xbox One and PS4 appeared first on Twinfinite.

Sonic 101 Video Gives New Fans A Crash Course In Sonic The Hedgehog History

4 years 2 months ago

The Sonic the Hedgehog movie has gained traction and popularity around the world in the past week. And with that popularity came new fans, so SEGA decided to send them to school — the School of Sonic, that is.

On the heels of the movie’s success, SEGA released a new video on YouTube Friday about the history of Sonic for new fans of the franchise aptly titled Sonic 101: A Brief History of Sonic the Hedgehog, and who better to give that history lesson than the voice behind the Blue Blur, Roger Craig Smith.

In just under three minutes, Smith gives the rundown on Sonic’s origins on the SEGA Genesis (Mega Drive for fans outside the U.S.) and the plotline of his battle against Dr. Eggman with the help of his friends, as well as his transition from 2D to 3D graphics in the Adventure era.

Smith even made fun of Sonic’s death as a plot device for Sonic ’06 when he talked about what Sonic had been up to since the jump to 3D made him taller, harder, better, faster and stronger, including turning into a Werehog in Unleashed, traveling through time to meet his younger self, and revisiting 2D platforming on more than occasion with Sonic 4, not to mention Sonic Advance 1 through 3 and Sonic Battle on the Game Boy Advance in the early 2000s.

It’s refreshing to note that he did not make Sonic’s 2D and 3D incarnations look as though they’re two different characters as SEGA had done in Generations and Forces. He simply made the 2D and 3D phases of Sonic just that, phases.

The video ends with Smith saying, “Sonic is just getting started.” With nearly 30 years of capturing the hearts of gamers with his outrageous speed and devilishly good looks through his games, comic books, TV shows and now a feature-length film, the future is looking bright for the blue hedgehog.

Gran Turismo Sport World Tour Final Video Shows “The Most Dramatic Finish Ever”

4 years 2 months ago

Today Polyphony Digital released a Gran Turismo Sport highlight video from the grand final of the Nations Cup recently held at the World Tour Sydney.

What made this specific race absolutely special is its finale, which saw Takeru Miyazono from Japan and Cody Nikola Latkovski from Australia battle for first place to the very last moment, ending the race wheel-to-wheel less than 4/100 of a second from each other.

What made this finish even more impressive is the crazy level of control showcased by the drivers, which is no small feat considering that they were riding the Red Bull X2019 Competition, which is basically a spaceship on wheels with a top speed of 321 Km/h.

I won’t even tell you who won. Just watch it below and see if it doesn’t hold you at the edge of your seat. There is a reason why Polyphony itself defines this “the most dramatic finish ever.”

As a bonus, we’re also including the highlight videos of the other two races of the event. Incidentally, the third video features the race that revealed the brand new Aston Martin DBR9.

New Azur Lane Event Reveals Lots of New Russian Shipgirls, Skins, and More

4 years 2 months ago

Today, during a livestream from Japan, Azur Lane publisher Yostar fully unveiled next week’s major event which was teased yesterday.

The event will be called Kouzen no Hokkai, which translates in “Frozen Sea of the North” and focuses on shipgirls inspired by warships from the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union.

Of course, the official translation of the title on the English servers (which are also confirmed to get the event next week, starting on February 27) might end up being different from mine.

Several new shipgirls will be available during the event besides the Super Rare destroyer Tashkent  and the Elite light cruiser Pamiat Merkuria who were revealed yesterday. The already-released cruiser Avrora will also come back for the event and will be permanently added to the light construction pool.

Those are Elite battleship Gangut, Elite destroyer Minsk, Super Rare light cruiser Chapayev, Elite Destroyer grozny, and Super Rare battleship Sovetskaya Rossiya.

Below you can see the SD sprites of Tashkent and Chapayev in action and the artwork for the event and all the shipgirls, on top of prison-themed skins for almost all of them, and a dorm set.
