The Drachtyr will become playable in a pre-expansion patch to those who pre-ordered Dragonflight.

She-Hulk Episode 7 Easter Egg Pays Tribute To Marvel Writer

1 year 6 months ago

The latest episode of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law has been released on Disney+, and it features a fun little blink-and-you’ll-miss-it easter egg that pays tribute to one of She-Hulks more influential writers from the comics.

SPOILERS AHEAD

This latest episode has Jennifer Walters, at the request of parole officer Chuck Donelan, traveling to Emil Blonsky’s Ranch as his inhibitor (the thing keeping him from turning into the Abomination) goes dark. It turns out it was just a simple malfunction, and Donelan leaves Blonsky’ to his “Meditative Retreat.”

However, just as Jennifer is about to leave, her car is totaled during a fight between Man-Bull and El Aguila. The rest of the episode has Jennifer hanging out on Blonsky’s Ranch as she decides to partake in his retreat while she waits for a tow truck.

It’s here where we get an easter egg, as the company the truck belongs to is called “Slott Towing.” This little reference honors comic book writer Dan Slott. Better known for his work on Spider-Man, Slott wrote for She-Hulk in 2004, where he helped re-invent the character as The Super Hero Lawyer we all know and love.

World of Warcraft's Dragonflight expansion gets November release date

1 year 6 months ago

A little over six months after its big reveal, World of Warcraft's Dragonflight expansion has been given a release date, with its launch now officially scheduled for 28th November this year.

As detailed back in April, Dragonflight's first major addition is a new location known as the Dragon Isles, the long-hidden ancestral home of dragonkind. This, in turn, brings four new areas - the Waking Shores starting zone, the expansive Ohn'ahran Plains, the frozen Azure Span, and the majestic Thaldraszus - complete with new dungeons and raids.

Dragonflight also introduces a new playable race-class hybrid (a first for WoW) known as the Dracthyr Evokers, which can switch between human and draconic forms. Depending on a player's chosen class specialisations, its focus is either damage dealing or healing.

Genshin Impact Developer Is Considering How to Make Limited-Time Events Replayable in the Future

1 year 6 months ago

Among the absolutely massive amount of explorable world and evergreen story content in Genshin Impact, one of the ways the open-world adventure keeps folks busy over time is through limited-time events that often cannot be accessed later if they are missed. But developer MiHoYo may be looking for a way for players to reexperience them after all.

While some events have come back around, such as Windtrace and Lost Riches, others with character development involved are either seemingly gone for good, or if they return, have story content changed between iterations to account for how the story has evolved since.

But in an interview with IGN, a MiHoYo spokesperson acknowledged the community's sadness at missing story events for characters like Albedo and Childe, as well as the desire for at least some sort of story recap option to catch up on critical information players may have missed without having to dive into a wiki.

Why Genshin Impact's Dendro Element Took So Long to Arrive

1 year 6 months ago

When Genshin Impact first launched, it included playable characters for six elements: Pyro (fire), Hydro (water), Anemo (wind), Electro (electricity), Cryo (ice), and Geo (earth). However, anyone paying attention at all to Genshin's lore. some of its monsters, or even its loading screen would have noticed that a seventh element was seemingly missing in action: Dendro, or nature.

For the first two major Genshin Impact chapters, Dendro remained elusive. But with 3.0 and the introduction of dendro-focused continent Sumeru, we're at last getting a taste of greenery. Bow users Collei and Tighnari kicked dendro off alongside the Traveler gaining a Dendro element through the Sumaru storyline — and more are on the way.

But why did it take so long for developer miHoYo to introduce Dendro, especially when all other elements were present from the start? What was it about Dendro that required a little more time in the veggie steamer?

In an interview with IGN, a Genshin Impact spokesperson shed a little bit of light on what, exactly, took Dendro so long to join its elemental brethren, as well as why its character rollout has been a bit slow:

Ori and the Blind Forest Statues Available for Preorder Now at the IGN Store

1 year 6 months ago

Ori and the Blind Forest is one of the most gorgeous Metroidvanias in recent memory, and you can now preorder a statue of the two iconic characters from the game, Ori and Naru. This statue is available for preorder now in the IGN Store, and is available in two versions: the Day variation and the Night variation. The statue comes from First 4 Figures, a company known for creating high-quality statues of some of the most recognizable video game characters. Naru is holding Ori, resting on a log in the statue, which is inspired by Ori and the Blind Forest's box art.

Originally released in 2015, Ori and the Blind Forest is available on Xbox, PC, and Nintendo Switch. The game stars Ori, a fallen spirit in the forest of Nibel, who is working to keep Nibel from falling to ruin. In our original review of the game, we called it great, saying "Ori and the Blind Forest is a beautifully realized, brilliantly designed, and at times brutally difficult sylvan Metroidvania-style platformer with enough charm to leave a lasting impression."

MultiVersus Leak Possibly Reveals Mark Hamill as Joker

1 year 6 months ago

The version of Joker from Batman: The Animated Series, voiced by Mark Hamill, might make its way into MultiVersus, Warner Bros’ crossover fighting game. A new datamine reveals voiced lines of the character.

Originally posted by Twitter user Laisul, audio of the Joker’s lines was posted and they sound very similar to Hamill’s portrayal of the character from Batman: The Animated Series. In context, the script also sounds like something you’d hear in a fighting game as well, such as “Points to the blue bozos!” and “That’s a point for the red rejects!” This most likely references MultiVersus’s tag team structure where opposing sides are colored red and blue.

Why Did Netflix Remove the LGBTQ+ Tag From Dahmer Series? Answered

1 year 6 months ago

Netflix’s new documentary, Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, was always bound to conjure up some extreme controversy. In this particular case, Netflix made a pretty massive mistake by adding the “LGBTQ+” tag to the show, something the company had to hastily remove. Here’s why Netflix removed the LGBTQ+ tag from the Dahmer series.

Why Netflix Removed the LGBTQ+ Tag From Dahmer Series

Netflix removed the LGBTQ+ tag from Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story because of intense backlash on social media over what the tag signified. Typically, the LGBTQ+ tag on Netflix is used to indicate content that positively represents LGBTQ+ people, but the Dahmer series doesn’t have that.

While Jeffrey Dahmer himself was a gay man, his real-life crimes included murdering 17 boys and gay men. It’s indescribably tone-deaf for a show such as this to portray such a brutal serial killer as some kind of positive representation of the LGBTQ+ community, especially given the incredibly triggering crimes that Dahmer himself committed on his victims. This understandably resulted in massive backlash on social media and, as a result, Netflix has removed the tag.

That’s all we’ve got on why Netflix removed the LGBTQ+ tag from the Dahmer series. If you’re looking for a Netflix series with much better LGBTQ+ representation, you might want to look into a show like The Umbrella Academy, starring Elliot Page as Viktor Hargreeves.

How To Get a Refund for Google Stadia Purchases

1 year 6 months ago

It’s official. After months of speculation and rumors, Google announced it would officially shut down its cloud gaming service, Google Stadia. Players will still have the option to play until it formally shuts down on Jan. 23, 2023. They also announced they would refund all Stadia purchases and all game and add-on content purchases made through the Stadia store. But when will the refunds occur? Today let’s discuss how to get a refund for Google Stadia purchases.

Will Players Get a Refund for Google Stadia Games? Answered

For the short and sweet answer, yes. Google announced they will refund ALL purchases in regards to Stadia, not including the actual subscription fees. This includes Stadia hardware, game, and add-on content purchases too. They expect all refunds to be completed by mid-January, 2023. However, they did not announce how the refunds will occur. Here’s a statement from their help page:

“We are working through this process now and will keep this article updated as we define the process for each of the countries and different situations. Our intent is to have the majority of refunds processed back to the original payment by January 18, 2023.”

From this point on, you will no longer be able to make purchases through the Stadia store either. This includes games and add-on content purchases. Pre-orders will also be canceled and refunded at a later date as well. Physical stores such as Best Buy or the Google Store for example will not be able to process any returns or refunds.

The 10 Best LEGO Games of All Time

1 year 6 months ago

LEGO first made its jump into video games almost 30 years ago with LEGO Fun to Build on the SEGA Pico. Since then, games framed around the colorful Danish bricks and their iconic minifigures have practically become a genre of their own - and that's in no small part thanks to Traveler’s Tales’ addictive approach to action-platforming and the many pop-culture properties that have since been LEGO-fied.

It wasn’t easy to narrow it down, but we've done our best and are proud to present our Top 10 LEGO games of all time… so far.

10. LEGO Island

What would a best LEGO games list look like without the original 1997 PC adventure, Lego Island? While it may seem rudimentary by today's standards and pretty rough graphically compared to other entries on this list, LEGO Island still holds up as a fun and nostalgic adventure. An escaped convict is hellbent on destroying LEGO Island, brick by brick, and it’s up to you to stop him.

Multiple character classes and a surprisingly ahead-of-its time open-ish world structure make for a good time that’s as comfy as it is engaging. It may be tricky to track down now, but if you can, it's worth taking a trip to LEGO Island - just watch out for the Brickster.

What Is Google Stadia & Why Is It Shutting Down? Explained

1 year 6 months ago

Today, Google announced that it would be shutting down one of its most ambitious ventures of the past five years. While reactions have been all over the place, the limited scale of the cloud streaming service’s popularity means that some are wondering what on earth is going on. We’re here to answer your questions about what Google Stadia is and why it’s it’s shutting down.

What Is Google Stadia? Answered

Google Stadia was Google’s attempt to break into the gaming industry. Rather than releasing hardware to compete with the likes PlayStation and Microsoft, however, Stadia instead is a cloud streaming service. The product was purcahsed as a subscription, which allowed users to connect to a hub of extremely powerful PCs that then stream games to a computer, Chromebook, or a television via a Google Chromecast Ultra Streaming device.

In concept, it was designed offer subscribers unrivalled technical performance regardless of how powerful the device was being used to relay the stream. In reality, though, it never quite lived up to its promise.

Why Is Google Stadia Shutting Down? Answered

In January 2023, Google will shut down Stadia, with the company saying that it will refund the various purchases users made. A blog post by Phil Harrison, Vice President and General Manager for Stadia explained that the service “hasn’t gained the traction with users that we expected.” So, what went wrong?

Did Daemon Abandon His Daughters in House of the Dragon? Answered

1 year 6 months ago

At the end of episode 6 of House of the Dragon, an entire decade has passed. Daemon Targaryen and Laena Velaryon are on the cusp of welcoming their third child into the world. Sadly, Laena is unable to give birth and, befitting of a dragonrider, has Vhagar kill her with dragon fire. By the end of episode 6, we witness Daemon’s children visibly upset as Daemon walks away, insinuating that he told them the unfortunate news. With Laena dead, did Daemon abandon his daughters in House of the Dragon?

Did Daemon Abandon His Daughters in House of the Dragon?

No, it does not appear that Daemon abandons his daughters in House of the Dragon. While the end of episode 6 showed Daemon Targaryen seemingly leaving his daughters behind, the sneak peak that comes after reveals their whereabouts.

One scene in particular has one of his daughters waking one of Rhaenyra’s sons, exclaiming that someone has taken Vhagar—the same dragon that Laena commanded to kill her with dragon fire.

Furthermore, George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, the source material House of the Dragon is based on, states that Daemon Targaryen did in fact return to Westeros with his children, and more. We’ll avoid spoilers for now, but episode 7 of House of the Dragon is shaping up to be an interesting one for sure.

Top 10 Best Weapons in Splatoon 3, Ranked

1 year 6 months ago

The new Splatoon entry from Nintendo has quite a few weapons already. They range from awesome to garbage as the game is far from balanced. Here are the top 10 Splatoon 3 Weapons to save you time testing them all.

10. Splat Roller

a player cruising through a stage in Splatoon 3 with the Splat Roller.

This weapon is one of the best for painting the town purple (or whatever ink color you are), so it earns a spot in the rankings. Unless you can run over a few enemies, you’ll want to stick close to a teammate who can keep you safe.

Left unchecked, the Splat Roller will give you a big advantage in Turf Wars by giving your team superior mobility and more ink. Since you have limited defensive potential, this roller gets 10th place. It’s super easy to play so the Splat Roller is good for beginners.

9. The Slosher

A Splatoon character poses with the Slosher.

This weapon is great for inking and splatting; however, it’s not at peak performance on the flatter Splatoon 3 stages, so it’s stuck at 9th. If you take the high ground, you can turn the stage into a slosh pit by dumping ink everywhere.

PSA: Download These DLCs On PC Before Ubisoft Removes Them Forever

1 year 6 months ago

Earlier this year, Ubisoft revealed that several games would have their multiplayer components shut down in September. In spite of this statement, Ubisoft has now announced that the decommissioning of multiplayer modes will take place on October 1. However, in a recent blog post, the company announced that several single-player DLC for specific games would no longer be accessible on PC.

Some of the games listed include Assassin’s Creed III, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, and Far Cry 3. While a few of these games, like Assassin’s Creed 3 and Far Cry 3, have remastered versions that are available for purchase and contain all of their previous DLC, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood and Forgotten Sands don’t. This means that PC Players will no longer have the option to buy the Da Vinci’s Disappearance DLC or the various skins for Forgotten Sands.

So, unless you’re willing to buy a console and purchase The Ezio Collection, you’ll have until this Saturday to get whatever DLC you don’t have on PC. Once you do so, you must activate your DLC in the game’s menu via the DLC option. Not doing so may prevent you from accessing the content, even if you have purchased it.

Other Games that will remove their multiplayer modes include Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Rayman Legends, Driver: San Fransisco, Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, and the Wii U version of ZombiU.

Saudi Arabia’s Savvy Games Group Announces Plans to Acquire “a Leading Game Publisher”

1 year 6 months ago

According to a new report from Reuters, Savvy Games Group, which is owned by a wealth fund in Saudi Arabia, is planning on making a big push into the gaming industry and to help turn the Kingdom into “a global hub for gaming”.

This initiative comes in the form of plenty of investments, including 50 billion riyals to acquire “a leading game publisher to become a strategic development partner”. This is the big news here, as Savvy Games Group has yet to announce which publishing company they have their eyes on. In the past year, we’ve seen Sony and Microsoft complete a number of acquisitions, which included companies like Zenimax and Bungie. We’ve also seen Embracer acquire a large number of IPs over the past few months, and it’ll certainly be interesting to see who falls under the Savvy umbrella next.

Further, the initiative also includes investing two billion riyals to help to grow esports companies and other early-stage games. The plan here isn’t just to increase Saudi Arabia’s presence in the gaming industry, but to make it a hub for esports companies and teams as well.

“We are harnessing the untapped potential across the esports and games sector to diversify our economy, drive innovation in the sector and further scale entertainment and esports competition offerings across the Kingdom.” – Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman

How to Get Ones to Watch Players in FIFA 23; All OTW Player Cards

1 year 6 months ago

FIFA 23 is upon us, and with it, another step into the Ultimate Team saddle awaits. While there are many ways for players to earn rewards throughout their FUT journey, and countless card promotions along the way, Ones to Watch is a particularly exciting entry into the FUT-verse. In this guide, we’re going to break down how to get Ones to Watch players in FIFA 23 and which OTW player cards are available.

FIFA 23 OTW Players Guide

Several players will be up for grabs starting Friday, Sep. 30. Before getting too overwhelmed, though, it’s important to know what makes these Ones to Watch players so special.

What Are OTW Cards in FIFA 23?

Ones to Watch players in FIFA 23 are those who made a notable move over the summer transfer window—Erling Haaland leaving Borussia Dortmund for Manchester City, for instance. These player cards are eligible for upgrades throughout the 2022-23 domestic season based on their own performance as well as their club’s.

EA has also introduced a “Wins to Watch” mechanic this season that tracks a player’s club’s domestic progress (or perhaps lack thereof). If these specific players win three of eight league games starting from launch day, they’re eligible for an upgrade.

Not only that, but with the 2022 World Cup around the corner, EA has also introduced a “Nations to Watch” mechanic based on their performance in Qatar. If their nation wins any game at the World Cup, they’ll be eligible for an upgrade. Notably, the OTW players do not need to be involved to receive an upgrade.

Foretales on PC

There has been no shortage of cards in games in recent times, and depending on your preference, this can either be the best thing in gaming for a while now, or an unnecessary blending of genres. However, it is hard to deny that some truly creative endeavors have been born out of utilizing cards as part of the gameplay, and in Alkemi’s Foretales, it is a great complement to an adventure game brimming with possibilities that ultimately makes a few missteps.

Players will enter a world of anthropomorphic animals, and as the small-time thief Volepain, it is up to you to help save the day where a dark prophecy looms over the fate of everyone else. With the countdown to the apocalypse speeding along, you will have to decide how best to proceed, whether to discover the mysteries of creation or embrace the Maelstorm for eternity, revelling in the chaos.
