How to Score Downward Headers in FIFA 23

1 year 6 months ago

There are numerous ways to score in FIFA 23. And, numerous places in which to score from. Heading the ball can be particularly advantageous, and there are several types of headers to utilize. With this guide, we’re going to explain how to score downward headers in FIFA 23.

When it comes to scoring downward headers in FIFA 23, it’s all about timing. Pulling it off at just the right time will result in the opposing goalkeeper having to go down to make a difficult save.

Due to the new power shot mechanic introduced in FIFA 23, things are a little different.

FIFA 23 Downward Headers Controls

In the past, players were required to combine the use of both shoulder buttons (LB + RB on Xbox, L1 + R1 on PlayStation) while then pressing the shoot button (B on Xbox, Circle on PlayStation) to attempt a downward header.

Now when a ball comes in, you need to put just enough power on your shot by tapping the shoot button — B on Xbox, Circle on PlayStation, A on Nintendo Switch — similar to how low-driven shots are performed.

You may also find a bit of success if they’re holding down the right shoulder button before tapping shoot — RB on Xbox, R1 on PlayStation, and ZR on the Switch — when a ball comes in, similar to the finesse mechanics.

Whether it comes from a cross, free kick, or corner, players have options with regards to executing a downward header. Once more, timing is crucial. Executing that header at just the right moment can make all the difference.

You can watch it below.

Yet, there’s more. Just yesterday, we got the reveal of a new Paldean pokemon named “Wiglett” and today we get to see and learn more with a new trailer, official images, and details.

Boasting an exceptional sense of smell, Wiglett is able to pick up scents from over 60 feet away. It has a skittish disposition and is constantly cautious of its surroundings. When it notices the scent of other Pokémon, Wiglett burrows into the sand to conceal itself.

Wiglett pokes a part of its body out of the sand to feed in the ocean. It’s still unclear what the rest of its body hidden in the sand is like or how long it might be. It’s said that Wiglett’s resemblance to Diglett might be a mere coincidence—a result of its adaptation to its environment.

Move over FIFA, you've got nothing on the footballers from Nintendo Switch Sports

1 year 6 months ago

For whatever reason, I decided that I'd start last weekend with Roger Federer's retirement speech. I'd literally just woken up and rubbed the sleep out of my eyes, only to emotionally destabilise my morning with an eight-minute-long video in which one of, if not the greatest tennis player of all time poured out his heart. Even his great rival Rafael Nadal couldn't hold back his tears, which said it all, really.

As one's mind does in momentous occasions, it turned to Nintendo Switch Sports football and how its small roster of players may be one of the best representations of talent in a sports game that I've come across. Come on, humour me here.

Google Is Shutting Down Stadia, Its Cloud Gaming Service

1 year 6 months ago

Google has announced it is winding down its Stadia video game streaming service and will shut it down on January 18. 2023.

In a new blog, the search engine company revealed that Stadia "hasn't gained the traction with users that we expected," and as a result, the company has made the "difficult" decision to begin winding down the service. Google will be refunding users who purchased either hardware or games from Google and Stadia.

"We're grateful to the dedicated Stadia players that have been with us from the start. We will be refunding all Stadia hardware purchases made through the Google Store, and all game and add-on content purchases made through the Stadia Store."

Players will still be able to access their game library and play until January 18.

Stadia is Google's cloud gaming service where users are able to stream video games, including AAA titles like Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Cyberpunk 2077, directly through Google cloud service. Meaning there was no need to purchase physical hardware so long as someone had access to Google Chrome. There was a dedicated controller players could purchase, however.

Google says that the underlying technology that powers Stadia has proven to be powerful, and Google has already started offering Stadia as a white-label product, meaning other companies can use the technology without becoming a part of Stadia's ecosystem.

Google Stadia Is Being Shutdown After the Company Admits it “Failed to Gain Traction”

1 year 6 months ago

In 2019, Google first unveiled its cloud streaming service, Stadia, spearheading a new venture to muscle its way into the video game industry. Today, though, the company has announced its throwing in the towel — Stadia is destined to become yet another bullet point on the company’s long list of failed projects. The service is due to shut down for good, on Jan. 18, 2023.

The news comes by way of a blog post from Google earlier today in which Stadia vice president and GM Phil Harrison explained:

“A few years ago, we also launched a consumer gaming service, Stadia, and while Stadia’s approach to streaming games for consumers was built on a strong technology foundation, it hasn’t gained the traction with users that we expected so we’ve made the difficult decision to begin winding down our Stadia streaming service.”

Google staff assigned to Stadia are being moved to other parts of the company as Google plans to redistribute its cloud streaming tech to subdivisions like YouTube and Google Play.

The company will be issuing refunds for Google Stadia, which is explained over in an FAQ article published alongside the blog post today. Relevant to refunds, the FAQ states highlights that while hardware purchases can be refunded, Pro subscriptions cannot:

We will be offering refunds for all Stadia hardware purchases (Stadia Controller, Founders Edition, Premiere Edition, and Play and Watch with Google TV packages) made through the Google Store and software transactions (games and add-on purchases) through the Stadia store. Stadia Pro subscriptions are not eligible for refund, however you will be able to continue playing your games in Pro without further charges until the final wind down date.

Stadia Will Close In January, Google Issuing Refunds For All Hardware And Software Purchases

1 year 6 months ago

Stadia Shutdown January refunds

Google has revealed that its cloud-streaming games service, Stadia, will shut down early next year.

More specifically, Stadia will close down its platform and end its online servers on January 18, 2023. After that, you won't be able to access the Stadia service in any way. As for your games and hardware, Google is offering refunds "for all Stadia hardware purchases (Stadia controllers, Founders Edition, Premiere Edition, and Play and Watch with Google TV packages) through the Stadia store," according to an FAQ posted by Google today. It seems like the only aspect of Stadia that won't be refunded are Stadia Pro subscriptions. However, you "will be able to continue playing your games in Pro without further charges until the final wind down date."

If you are hoping to get a refund for your hardware, Google says "most hardware purchases...made directly from Google" will not require you to return your hardware. The company intends to have the majority of refunds processed by Stadia's January 18 shutdown date.

The Stadia Store and all its functions have been turned off so you will not be able to make any more Stadia-related purchases or in-game transactions.

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury will run in two separate cours. The first one will run from October-December 2022, and the second will follow in April-June 2023. Bandai Namco's Chief Gundam Officer (CGO), Kouji Fujiwara, revealed the plan at the Gundam Conference Autumn 2022 presentation stream.

Fujiwara also revealed that MBS and TBS will air TV versions of Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway, Thunderbolt, and Narrative for the January-March 2023 period. Google Stadia shutting down in January

1 year 6 months ago

Google is shutting down Stadia, with the beleaguered cloud gaming service set to remain live for players until 18th January 2023.

Stadia's misfortunes are, of course, well-documented; despite initial praise for the service's streaming capabilities at launch in 2019, a slow, problematic roll-out meant Google failed to capitalise on initial consumer interest. The extent of Stadia's failings started to became clear when the company announced it was closing its first-party game development studios less that 14 months after launch, with subsequent reports claiming the streaming platform was missing its targets for monthly active users by hundreds of thousands.

And while Google continued to insist Stadia was "alive and well" as 2021 progressed, reports claimed it had "deprioritised" the consumer-facing side of its game streaming platform, having largely shifted its focus to selling the services' underlying technology to third-parties.

Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves' 120Hz VRR patch unleashes the PS5 GPU

1 year 6 months ago

Released earlier in the year, the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves collection brought the PlayStation 4-era franchise entries to the new PS5, with some mild enhancements to the overall presentation and a major focus on resolutions and performance. 4K at 30fps, 1440p at 60fps and 1080p at 120fps effectively allowed you to balance pixel count and frame-rate whichever way you wanted. These choices are now even wider thanks to a recent 120Hz VRR patch, which delivers some great results.

While the Naughty Dog titles deploy state of the art rendering, thus far the studio has not embraced dynamic resolution rendering to balance performance - not even in its latest title, The Last of Us Part One. So, in theory at least, the PS5's GPU is not fully maxed out. To be clear, the new patch 1.002 does not add this feature, but via VRR upgrades it taps into that latent GPU power by offering the ability to unlock frame-rate, while also adding a 40fps fidelity mode. This works in a similar manner to the option seen in Ratchet and Clank, the Spider-Man titles and Horizon Forbidden west.

The new 40fps option replaces the 30fps fidelity mode when you boot the game with 120Hz output enabled on your PS5. In addition to that is an unlocked version of the same mode, leveraging VRR to deliver a smooth experience with a variable frame-rate. Visually speaking, this is a match for the old fidelity mode - both render at a crisp native 4K resolution, with the same capable treatment of fine detail. Even in the most intense scenes, a straight 3840x2160 pixel count seems to be in play - there's still no DRS, meaning that effectively, we're 'hoping' there's at least 10fps of clearance once the frame-rate cap is increased.

The opening song is likely the one that will excite veterans fans of the series, as it’ll be a collaboration between Minami Kuribayashi and JAM Project. The title is “Akatsuki o Ute” and it sounds as stellar as the artists involved suggest.

On top of this all, we get to take a look at the cover art of the two Blu-Ray boxes for the second series, on top of a see-through plastic model kit of the Type-94 Shiranui that will be released by Kotobukiya.

Apex Legends Brings Back ‘Fight or Fright’ Event With Four Weeks of Spooky Modes

1 year 6 months ago

While the first Fight or Fright in Apex Legends took place as a collection event in season three. It has since morphed into a themed event that first showed up around Halloween in 2020.

This time around, it will take place as a four-week event with LTMs (Limited-Time Modes) swapping out each week. Fight or Fright will last from Oct. 4 to Nov. 1.

Starting Oct. 4 until Oct. 11, players will be able to play Shadow Royale in the Olympus After Dark map, which is basically just a nighttime version of Olympus. Shadow Royale is a trios mode where dead squadmates turn into infinitely respawning shadows (as long as one member of the squad remains alive) that “can run on walls, double jump, revive allies, and deliver extra melee damage”.

From Oct. 11-18, players can play Gun Run in Estates After Dark as well as the previously available Skulltown and Fragment East. Considering Gun Run is still currently live in Apex Legends with the Beast of Prey collection event, it’s surprising to see it coming back so quickly. For those who have missed the event, Gun Run is a modified version of Call of Duty’s classic Gun Game in Apex Legends.

Shatolla Will Be the Summer Town in Harvestella

1 year 6 months ago

harvestella woglinde shatolla

Square Enix has shared some information on Shatolla, a seaside town players will be able to explore in the upcoming life simulation JRPG, Harvestella. The Summer Seaslight governs Shatolla. Players will be able to meet Heine, the inventor, and Emo, the diva, in Shatolla. There are also details on new jobs and summer crops on the blog post.

Like how the Spring Seaslight governs Nemea, Shatolla gets a lot of influence from the Summer Seaslight. However, some giant bubbles called the Summer Bulla have started appearing near the city, and there are rumors about a sea witch named Lorelei. Sailors believe that she can drag ships into the ocean with her voice. While it is unclear where exactly Heine will fit into the narrative, Emo requests the protagonist’s help in traveling to the Seaslight.

During TGS 2022, the Harvestella development team showed off some different biomes you can farm in. One of them is the waterside biome, which is good for sweet crops such as Islet Watermelons. There are also cave biomes where you can grow spices and seasonings, like Sudor Pepper. Crops you can grow in the summer are the Shatollan Paprika, Bellhop, Seatide Garlic, and Macocoa.

Shovel Knight Dig Review – Digging Down In Glory

Shovel Knight Dig Game Informer Review

Reviewed on: PC
Platform: Switch, PC, iOS
Publisher: Yacht Club Games
Developer: Nitrome, Yacht Club Games
Release:

The second I began Shovel Knight Dig, it felt like returning home. As someone who hadn’t played most of Shovel Knight’s post-launch DLC, the last time I touched this series was nearly a decade ago. Gaining control of the titular character immediately felt familiar, and my old Shovel Knight habits returned to greet this new take on the series, led by developer Nitrome this time. The moment-to-moment experience plays excellently, in part because it’s more Shovel Knight with some well-designed gameplay twists. However, the game’s venture into roguelite territory feels inessential and so light-stepped that it didn’t convince me it needed to be a part of this ever-expanding genre. Still, Shovel Knight Dig is more Shovel Knight, meaning retro-game and platforming enthusiasts will find great enjoyment throughout.

Foxhole's massively multiplayer war has now left early access

1 year 6 months ago

Massively multiplayer games rapidly calcified around a specific set of design ideas (eg. World Of Warcraft) and so many other attempts to jam a load of players onto a single server quickly disappeared (eg. most games by Improbable or Amazon).

Foxhole is one of the few to do it successfully: a single, massive World War 2 battlefield in which players don't just fight at the frontlines, but form supply routes, build defenses, and otherwise take the reigns of the logistics of war. After five years in early access, Foxhole released version 1.0 today.
