Microsoft Flight Simulator Dash 7 Gets New Screenshots; Tunis Carthage Airport Coming Soon; Belfast & Sitka Airports Released

1 year 8 months ago

Today third-party developers had news and releases to share about aircraft and airport add-ons for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

We take the first look at the exterior of the de Havilland Canada Dash 7 by SimWorks Studios and PILOT’s, alongside a development update.

“Our full attention is focused on the Dash 7 in cooperation with PILOT’S GesmbH. The exterior model is undergoing decal placement, so we are placing rivets, panel lines and de-ice boots. After that, the aircraft will be ready to receive its last coating of dirt and grime over the detail, which will complete the exterior textures. The liveries are awaiting their “use marks” but other than that they are done, and some screenshots can be seen here. The liveries included will be British Antarctic Survey, Air Greenland, Brymon, Berjaya Air, Tyrolean and Continental. The cockpit is undergoing decal placement. Right now, all the flight instruments are marked enough for us to do flight testing. We are working on placing the rest of the labels and correcting some model flaws before falling head-first into the textures.

The flight model of the aircraft is complete, and focus on that front is on engine tuning. Right now, the engine produces the right amount of torque and RPM, so we have work to do with the propellers to get her up to speed.

Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World Season 2 Revealed With an Official Trailer

1 year 8 months ago

Crunchyroll Expo 2022 has been dropping crazy announcements left and right today, such as the confirmation of a season 2 for the Tower of God anime and more. Alongside all of those announcements, we now finally have the official confirmation for season 2 of Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World, which came in the form of a brand new trailer.

While no new footage was shown in the trailer, it did, however, give us a release date for sometime in 2023, though speculation seems to point to early 2023. You can catch the trailer and an official synopsis of season 1 below.

Two enemies on opposing sides of a conflict find common ground, potentially making them traitors to their countries and war-torn lovers!

We last left Alice and Iska after they rescued Alice’s sister from the Empire at the end of Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World season 1, placing them on somewhat mutual ground when it finished airing back in late 2020. How their relationship will continue to grow and see their chaotic world begin to unfold in season 2 is anyone’s guess right now.

The light novel series, I’m the Villainess, So I’m Taming the Final Boss, made its debut as an anime during the Crunchyroll Expo 2022. The story will follow Aileen Lauren Dautriche when her fiance cancels their engagement, resulting in her moving on to the notorious Demon King.

You can watch the trailer from MAHO FILM on the official Crunchyroll Collection YouTube channel here:

According to the Crunchyroll description, Aileen is a villainess in an otome game, Regalia of Saints, Demons, and Maidens. In the show, she gets in the way of the main character’s love life and learns that her destiny is to be killed as an enemy of the story.

The only way she can live is to get the Demon King, Claude, to fall in love with her even if she has no feelings for him. However, Aileen must do what’s best for her and begins the journey when she asks him for his hand in marriage.

The soundtrack of the anime will feature most of the team that composed Season 2 of My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! In addition, the voice cast includes many notable actors and actresses, such as Rie Takahashi (Emilia in Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-), Yuichiro Umehara (Kimura in Heaven’s Design Team), Toshiki Masuda (Porco in Attack on Titan), and many more.

Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 Trailer Teases New Arcs & Stress Aplenty

1 year 8 months ago

Life continues to be fraught with dilemmas in the latest trailer for Mob Psycho 100 Season 3, and protagonist Mob is at the center of it all.

Released by Crunchyroll during Crunchyroll Expo 2022, the trailer offers a new glimpse at what the series’ cast will face in the next portion of the story. All of the mainstays like Mob, Reigen and Dimple make appearances in the animation bits on display, while several others provide vocal clips hinting at a series of dilemmas that could push them into further danger.

It doesn’t start off slow and then ramp up either. Instead, the trailer jumps from moment to moment, offering glimpses of a cult worshipping Mob, Dimple expanded to a massive size due to some phenomenon and other characters attempting to make a fresh break into a better life following their defeat at Mob’s hands.

Tying everything together, though, is a central theme: Mob is currently attempting to figure out what to do once he finishes school. The stress of this mixed with everything else has him edging toward a blow-up the likes of which no one has seen before, and it’s anyone’s guess as to who or what will bring him back from the brink.

Needless to say, the animation is still as impressive as ever and provides plenty of smooth movement to marvel at even in the brief seconds of footage.

It’s a sight to behold, and the full trailer can be viewed down below.

Crunchyroll Announces Second Season for Tower of God Anime

1 year 8 months ago

Big things are coming out of the Crunchyroll Expo 2022 today. Plenty of news to keep all anime fans extremely happy. Among those announcements is that Tower of God will be getting a new season. This news even came with a trailer that should adequately hype up fans of the series.

The second season is in production now, but there isn’t a known date when episodes will actually start hitting Crunchyroll.

You can see the trailer below that gives a hint of where things are going for Rachel and Bam.

Reborn as a Vending Machine Anime on Crunchyroll Proves the Isekai Rabbit Hole Runs Too Deep

1 year 8 months ago

Today, during Crunchyroll Expo, the animation localization and streaming giant revealed Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon.

If, like me, you thought you had seen the bottom of the isekai rabbit hole, this anime will likely prove that we were all very naive.

It’s an adaptation of the novel and light novel series “Jidouhanbaiki ni Umarekawatta Ore wa Meikyuu ni Samayou written by Hirukuma and illustrated by Ituwa Kato, published in Japan between 2016 and 2017.

It then sparked a manga illustrated by Kunieda which debuted last year on Dengeki Daioh and is still ongoing, and it’s finally getting an anime adaptation by VAP Video which will air on Chrunchiroll when it debuts at some time in the future.

This probably won’t surprise you, since Crunchyroll appears to have made a specific point of slapping in our faces pretty much every Isekai anime they can get their hands on.

If the term “isekai” is unfamiliar to you, it indicates a popular narrative trope that has the protagonist reincarnated or somehow translated into another world.

Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon tells the story of a Japanese vending machine otaku (yes, they exist) killed by a falling vending machine, because of course he would.

He reincarnates in the usual fantasy world as a… vending machine that can see and hear but cannot move. and can only use vending machine soundbites to communicate.

He meets a young girl named Lammis who is completely unable to control her own strength, and after he gives her food, they create a symbiotic relationship where she carries him on her back and his weight allows her to keep her power in check. Yes. It’s as crazy as it sounds.

You can see the trailer below, even if it doesn’t show that much.

The Community Spotlight 2022.08.06

1 year 8 months ago

Welcome to the latest edition of the Giant Bomb Community Spotlight! I, @zombiepie, am once again honored to be your host as we look back at the best community-created works from the previous week.

Unfortunately, we have to talk about some negative news with this edition of the Spotlight. As many of you are already aware, recent orders for the new t-shirts started hitting homes and many were shocked to discover they were not printed as advertised. The site and managers of the store are aware of the problem and doing everything that they can to refund any and all impacted orders. The affected shirts are mainly the Temple and Tarot shirts, but we have also seen some issues with Cat/Yarn design being printed off-center and the Bomby shirt also looking far more plastic-y than anticipated. If any of these problems describe your shirt order, please email support@giantbomb.com.

You can also use the Giant Bomb Discord to get updates on the issue and reply to the Tweet I linked above to direct contact Rorie. For those of you that would like to avoid using Twitter or Discord, here's a link to Rorie's on-site post about the issue where you can learn about the problem, ask questions, and report specific issues for you impacted orders.

Jujutsu Kaisen Gets Special Promo Video of First Season and 0 Film

1 year 8 months ago

Seeing as the Crunchyroll Expo 2022 train has no intention of stopping, a new video has hit the internet. This time, it’s a special promo video Jujutsu Kaisen showing off both the first season of the anime and scenes from the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 film.

This cut of both the anime and the film is presented as a pretty cool extended music video. If you’ve never seen the show and are worried about spoilers, this is 90% action scenes that offer just about zero context.

If you wanna kick back to some great tunes and watch some terrific anime action, the Jujutsu Kaisen video can be found below.

Jujutsu Kaisen first premiered in October 2020 with the dub starting on Crunchyroll a month later. Jujutsu Kaisen 0, a prequel film based on the same numbered volume of the manga, premiered in December of last year in Japan, with the English theatrical release back in February.

Also in February came the announcement that Jujutsu Kaisen will be getting a second season.

The Reincarnation of The Strongest Exorcist In Another World Anime Starts Fresh in New Trailer

1 year 8 months ago

Crunchyroll has unveiled The Reincarnation of The Strongest Exorcist In Another World with a teaser trailer, and the show offers at least a few elements to break the Isekai mold with.

Revealed during the streaming platform’s Crunchyroll Expo 2022 event, the trailer offers the usual array of teasers and story info. Following an unknown tragedy, a man is reincarnated into a world full of magic, monsters and female characters for him to befriend and pursue romantically. He’s also blessed with special powers thanks to his reincarnated body, allowing him to stand out in his new life in ways that he otherwise couldn’t in his past life.

However, there are key elements that set the series apart from other Isekai. The main character appears to trigger his own reincarnation via a technique he learned as a renowned exorcist. Likewise, those around him don’t seem to flock to him without good reason, actively doubting whether or not he’s fit to be in their world without certain skills necessary to fend off the many threats that beset them daily.

Top this off with the concept of incorporating exorcism techniques into the plot, and there’s plenty to find intriguing about the story this series could tell.

As for the animation, it’s better than most might have expected. The character designs are clean and polished, helping them to stand out during the small animated snippets that hint at larger action set pieces and battles.

It’s worth a look for both Isekai fans and anime fans in general, and the full trailer can be viewed down below.

The Switch remains the best console for shmups since the Saturn - and these are some of the best

1 year 8 months ago

The Switch is well into its sixth year, somehow, and despite some stiff competition from the Steam Deck recently it hasn't lost its lustre nor its position by my side wherever I go: maybe it's something to do with the immense library I've got on mine at this point, filled to the brim with shmups of all sizes in what's long been a speciality of the system.

Once it was the novelty of having these things on the go, plus the ease of playing vertical scrolling shooting games as intended in 'tate' mode with the screen flipped (and without worrying about permanent damage like I used to when pushing a chunky old CRT on its side to play Ikaruga as Treasure intended). Now it's just the abundance of classics that can be dipped in and out of at leisure - and the thing I love about the humble shmup is how immediate they are, making them perfect for short blasts.

So here's a list of some personal favourites, and a rundown of the shmups that are in almost constant rotation on my Switch. There should be an emphasis on the personal, here - there's no science here, and an awful lot of bias towards my own taste for simple, spectacular shmups rather than those with fussy scoring systems. So there's no Ikaruga here, I'm afraid - apologies, I do love it but I'm not going to pretend to be a master of its rigid polarity-based system (when - or if - Radiant Silvergun ever makes it to the Switch you can be assured it'll be top of this list, though).

PlayStation 5's new 1440p firmware: a better picture for PC monitors

1 year 8 months ago

8K display support may still be AWOL but Sony surprised us all last week by revealing a new firmware beta test, opening the door to 1440p functionality for PlayStation 5 amongst a range of other smaller scale new features and quality of life upgrades. With its plans to break into the PC monitor market, adding support for 2560x1440 functionality makes sense and while the firmware beta works well, a little more work is required to ensure this update delivers everything it should.

Before going into the specifics, the introduction of this feature shows that Sony is responding more readily to consumer feedback. Not only has support for 1440p monitors been implemented, the firm has also responded to criticisms of its initial implementation of Auto Low Latency Mode support, an option that basically automatically invokes Game Mode on HDMI 2.1 TVs. First of all, ALLM wasn't available at all, then it was added but couldn't be turned off (causing issues with other TV features, such as black frame insertion). However, ALLM was finally added as a toggle, satisfying all parties. This may seem like a minor detail, but it's actually a good thing to see a platform holder addressing what some may consider to be minutiae.

Crunchyroll Buys Right Stuf Anime Retailer

1 year 8 months ago

Right Stuf Crunchyroll

Crunchyroll's presence in the overseas anime industry continues to grow. The Sony-owned streaming service purchased Right Stuf, which runs the largest online anime retailer in North America. The deal was announced on August 4, 2022, just ahead of the Crunchyroll Expo event. Pricing and other terms were not disclosed publicly. [Thanks, ANN!].

The Right Stuf acquisition bolsters Crunchyroll's burgeoning e-commerce business, widening its selection in both anime and manga. The merger of Crunchyroll with Funimation also put Funimation's physical home video releases under the "Crunchyroll for Home Video brand."

Right Stuf was quick to announce on its blog that the retail side of the business, fronted by the RightStufAnime.com, will not change in large part. No branding changes or mergers of catalog are planned, and all orders, current and future, will continue to be processed normally. The Crunchyroll and Right Stuf online stores will also operate separately "for the moment".

1 year 8 months ago

During the Grand Finals of Granblue Fantasy Versus at EVO 2022, Cygames provided a new glimpse at the gameplay of the action-JRPG Granblue Fantasy Relink.

Director Tetsuya Fukuhara appeared in a brief video in which he introduced Granblue Fantasy Versus, but he actually moved on to talk about Relink as well.

He mentioned that the game is “at the peak of development” and confirmed that the release window is slated for 2023 (we know it’s coming for PS5, PS4, and PC).

Interestingly, he showcased a glimpse of off-screen gameplay in which we can see Gran, Catalina, Lancelot, and Percival in the party, with Lyria who appears to be following along as an NPC.

While this isn’t much, it’s an extra look at the game that never hurts since Cygames had mentioned that the next reveal would come in December at Granblue Fantasy Fes.

You can watch it below.

Incidentally, there was pretty much no news for Granblue Fantasy Versus itself besides the announcement of the online Granblue Fantasy Versus Community League (which you can also see below right after the Relink segment).

Incidentally, the tournament at EVO 2022 was won by Gamera, who defeated Tororo in the grand finals coming from the losers’ bracket.

If you’re unfamiliar with Fatal Fury, also known as Garou Densetsu, it’s one of SNK’s most beloved fighting game series from the Neo Geo era. It debuted all the way back in 1991. While its characters have kept active in The King of Fighters, the Fatal Fury series itself has been dormant since 1999.

Incidentally, the King of Fighters XV tournament has been won by ZJZ, who defeated E.T. in an all-Taiwan grand final. Both players were using Team Khronen

Dragon Ball FighterZ Getting PS5, Xbox Series X|S Versions, & Rollback Netcode

1 year 8 months ago

During the celebrations for EVO 2022 Bandai Namco revealed news about its popular fighting game Dragon Ball FighterZ.

The game is coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a release date not yet announced. Upgrade will also be offered for free to those who have the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game via the upgrade program or smart delivery.

On top of that, rollback netcode will also be implemented on these versions. Players on PC will also get to enjoy it, but it’ll be an option. Those who prefer the delay-based system will still be able to use it.

This is especially relevant considering that rollback netcode will have higher system requirements, albeit details have not been shared just yet.

Implementation will take some time, but Bandai Namco hopes to have it ready as soon as possible, with more information promised at a later date.

Incidentally, the tournament was won by French player Wawa, who defeated Nitro from the US.

EVO 2022: SNK Announces Development of New Fatal Fury Game

1 year 8 months ago

On stage at EVO 2022, SNK announced that a new entry in the long-dormant Fatal Fury/Garou series is in development. It will be the first entry in the series since 1999's Garou: Mark of the Wolves. No release window or platforms were named, as the announcement was only paired with a short teaser trailer and a single piece of artwork.

Currently, SNK is only referring to the game as "New Fatal Fury/Garou", but it does appear to be a follow-up to Mark of the Wolves, as the teaser trailer ends with the reveal of Rock Howard, the protaganist of that title.

Kaina of the Great Snow Sea Anime Drops New Trailer

1 year 8 months ago

After being announced earlier this year, upcoming anime series Kaina of the Great Snow Sea has gotten a new trailer at the Crunchyroll Expo 2022. This anime is an “original story” from manga artist Tsutomu Nihei (Knights of Sidonia, Aposimz).

The trailer describes the story as taking place in “a world in which the land is disappearing beneath the great snow sea. Atop the celestial membrane, which spreads out from the great trees live small pockets of humanity.”

But one day, a human from below is found driving up to the celestial membrane in what appears to be a hot air balloon, setting forth a grand adventure.

You can see the trailer for yourself below.

The full Kaina of the Great Snow series will premiere sometime in January 2023. With the dub most certainly arriving some time after that. The animation comes from Polygon Pictures, who helped produce the 3DCG in Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence. It seems safe to say that visually, this anime is in the right hands.
