Splatoon 3 Is Getting Its Own Nintendo Direct This Week

1 year 8 months ago

Splatoon 3 will be getting a dedicated Nintendo Direct presentation this Wednesday, August 10.

The broadcast will be roughly 30 minutes long, and begins at 6am Pacific / 9am Eastern / 2pm UK / 11pm AEST. Nintendo hasn't hinted at what will be inside, but you can guess at a healthy swathe of new gameplay, as well as new information about the game's Campaign, PvP and PvE modes.

Splatoon 3 will be released om September 9, so this may be our last public look at the squid-based shooter before it arrives. Splatoon 3 was first announced last year, and brings back a familiar mix of competitive multiplayer (albeit with new weapons and special abilities), a returning co-op mode, Salmon Run, and a new single-player campaign titled "Return of the Mammalians".

Soulstice: The Final Preview

1 year 8 months ago

The Sacred City of Ilden is the perfect staging grounds for an apocalyptic attack by the nefarious Spawn of Chaos, an army of demonic creatures that happens to be swarming into the city through a giant Tear in the sky, not unlike Dragon Age Inquisition’s Fade Rift or Pokémon Legends: Arceus’ massive Space-Time Rift. None better to stop the invasion than the battle-hardened warrior Briar and her ghostly companion-slash-sister Lute, both of whom are Chimera; members of the mysterious Order of the Ashen Blade and the supposed heroes of this world. Things don’t exactly work out with the other Chimera, and you, playing as the dynamic duo, are left to vanquish the Spawn of Chaos by yourself – if not for the help of a few unlikely friends. This is the premise of Soulstice, an action-adventure game centered around frenetic third-person combat with lots of unique combos that would feel right at home in any Devil May Cry game.

The Art of Skull and Bones Revealed by Dark Horse Books

1 year 8 months ago

Ubisoft's Skull and Bones is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated new games of 2022, and now pirate fanatics have even more to look forward to at the end of the year. Dark Horse Books is following up the game's release with a new hardcover called The Art of Skull and Bones.

Like all of Dark Horse's video game art books, The Art of Skull of Bones features a mix of concept art, creator interviews and other behind-the-scenes material that sheds light on the making of the game. Considering how long Skull and Bones has been in development - and how often it's been delayed - that should make for some very interesting reading.

Is Bandai Namco Teasing The Next Tekken?

1 year 8 months ago

Bandai Namco revealed a big update for Tekken 7 during this weekend’s EVO tournament, which may have also teased the next entry in the long-running series.

A trailer running down the Tekken 7 balance update, which arrives on August 17 and introduces balance adjustments and new tactics, concluded on a tantalizing note. A clip of Kazuya’s semi-infamous Tekken 1 arcade ending, in which he drops Heihachi off a cliff before giving a cheesy smile to the camera, transitions to a smirking modern Kazuya with a message of “Get Ready.” The clip begins at the 1:40 mark.

Fans have excitedly interpreted this footage as a teaser for Tekken 8. That would make sense; Tekken 7 launched on consoles in 2017, so it feels like the right time to begin hinting at the next entry. Perhaps it’s a different Tekken project entirely. Or Bandai Namco simply thought this would be a humorous footnote to wrap up its Tekken 7 news.

Ranking All 7 Predator Films (Including the AvP Series)

1 year 8 months ago

Much like the cloaked killing machines at the heart of the franchise, Prey has stealthily crept up on us and unleashed hell. Yes, a heart-pounding slice of visceral sci-fi horror on Hulu and Disney+ streaming services dropped recently, and it’s an absolute doozie. It’s so damn good that it’s made us rethink the series’ ranking as a whole.

To make this feature even more interesting, we thought it would be cool to include the duo of AvP films to spice things up. So, with that in mind, come join us for our official ranking of cinema’s most iconic space monsters. Let’s go!

7.) Aliens Vs. Predator: Requiem (2007)

Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem

If a film was judged by a mere screenshot alone, Aliens Vs. Predator: Requiem would win all the prizes with just that image above. I mean, look at it — it looks so epic, right? Unfortunately, we have to – you know – take the movie as a whole, and that’s where things sadly start falling apart.

How to See Previous Dialogue in Digimon Survive

1 year 8 months ago

Digimon Survive is a huge visual novel where the dialogue plays a crucial role in determining your playthrough. The story is told primarily through the main cast of characters and their conversations. As you can imagine, you’ll run into a lot of important dialogue that you won’t want to miss or you’ll want to repeat. Fortunately, players can learn how to see previous dialogue in Digimon Survive at any time.

The game does not provide much instruction or tutorial and even the HUD is hidden during much of the game. Because of that, you may not be aware that you are actually able to look at previous dialogue at any time during the game. This especially comes in handy when you are picking responses to characters.

1 year 6 months ago

Riot Games provides excellent support for Valorant with regular patches keeping the game updated. Oftentimes, however, this means issuing occasional server maintenance that takes the game offline. Here’s what you need to know about whether Valorant is down and how to check the server status to see if the game is down.

Is Valorant Down? Answered

At the time of writing, Valorant is currently online. Earlier today, however, it was down across a number of regions for a short amount of time. The issue seems to have been resolved now.

You should expect Valorant Competitive to go down for the end of Act 3, which will be next week on Oct. 18/19 depending on your region. All servers will go down as Riot Games issues the next patch, 5.08, which will introduce a whole new Act, including the new Agent.

Keep in mind the rollout of patches are at different times depending on which region you are playing the game.

The generic times for each region’s server maintenance during patch deployment are as follows:

Brazil: 06:00 PDT
Europe: 20:00 PDT
Korea: 14:00 PDT
Latin America: 06:00 PDT
North America: 06:00 PDT

How to Get Guilmon in Digimon Survive

1 year 8 months ago

Unlike Pokemon, Digimon Survive only has one version. Any Digimon you come across in the game will almost always be equally accessible to other players. However, do note that we said “almost.” Guilmon is a special case. So, if you would like to add them to your team, here’s how to get Guilmon in Digimon Survive.

How to Get Guilmon in Digimon Survive

Normally, you’d go out into the wild, roam around until you find the Digimon you want, then recruit them. With Guilmon, you have to redeem him using the in-game menu.

The good news is that anyone with a copy of Digimon Survive can redeem Guilmon—even if you did not pre-order—so long as you purchase the game within the first month. The somewhat unfortunate news is that you only have until August 29th, 2022 to redeem Guilmon in the game.

To get Guilmon in Digimon Survive:

  1. Complete the entirety of the tutorial.

For starters, the tutorial is incredibly helpful. More importantly, the completion of the Equipment Tutorial is a prerequisite.

  2. After you’ve completed the tutorial, pause the game.

  3. In the bottom-right corner, press the “Receive Bonus” button.

For example, the Y button on Xbox. Also, take note of the “Bonus is available” message in the top-right.

How to Fix Valorant Error Code 19

1 year 8 months ago

For Valorant players, there is nothing worse than an error code. These annoying instances not only prevent you from playing certain game modes but sometimes make it so that you can’t even get into the game all together. Lately, a specific one that has been cropping up is “VAL 19,” which prevents players from hopping into games. Here is everything you need to know about how to fix Valorant error code 19.

Valorant Error Connecting to Platform

Usually, the Valorant error code 19 is accompanied by the following message: “There was an error connecting to the platform. Please restart your game client.” This is usually an indication that you’ve got a problem with the Riot Client

That means that, unfortunately, there isn’t too much on your end that you can do to resolve this issue. The only possible fixes are to restart your Riot Client or make sure your internet is stable. These are really the only two things that would make an error pop up that wasn’t based on the server’s side of things.

At the moment, all we can really do is sit back and wait for the Valorant error code 19 to be resolved, though Riot has yet to make a statement on when we can expect that to happen on social media. We will be sure to keep this post updated when we know more.

That’ll do it for everything you need to know about how to fix Valorant error code 19. If you’re still on the hunt for more info about the game, be sure to check out the rest of Twinfinite to see the rest of our guides, which have plenty of tips, tricks, and FAQs.

STALKER Console Port Seemingly Leaked by Russian Fan in Revenge Over Ukraine Support

1 year 8 months ago

A leak of what appears to be a new console port of STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl has been uploaded onto the internet by a Russian streamer apparently upset over developer GSC Game World's approach to supporting the war in Ukraine.

A new report from PC Gamer reveals that a Russian streamer who goes by two names - 'Nevazhno, Kto' and 'Velichaishii' - uploaded footage of an apparent console port of the original STALKER game, first released on PC in 2007, accompanied by a five-page document. Said document details that Nevazhno leaked the footage because GSC Game World has, in his eyes, discriminated against Russian fans by encouraging them to donate to Ukraine's Come Back Alive Foundation. The foundation helps supply defensive equipment to the Ukrainian armed forces, and donating to the Ukrainian military is a crime in Russia, hence Nevazhno's anger.

Nevazhno's chief problem is that GSC, a Ukrainian developer, did not make Russian supporters aware of the potential legal consequences of donating to the Come Back Alive Foundation. "This was an attempt to make bargaining chips out of Russians," he wrote in the document, seen by PC Gamer. "The only mention of criminality came when people began to complain about this shit to Roskomnadzor [Russia's media monitoring agency]".

Dragon Ball FighterZ Coming To PS5 And Xbox Series X/S With Rollback Netcode

1 year 8 months ago

Dragon Ball FighterZ

Dragon Ball FighterZ is finally getting rollback netcode by way of the newly announced PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of the game. The update will also be available on PC.

For the unfamiliar, rollback netcode is a system that provides a nearly lag-free online experience, hence why it's always a highly desirable feature in the fighting game community. During EVO 2022, DBFZ producer Tomoko Hiroki shared that the current-gen versions will support rollback netcode, whereas the PS4 and Xbox One editions will not. There's no release window for upgraded ports, but a message from Bandai Namco's Twitter account states we'll learn more information later and that it will take "some time" before the system is finished.

While that's bad news for those who don't own a PS5 or Xbox Series X/S, Bandai Namco is at least planning some sort of upgrade path for existing game owners on current consoles (such as Smart Delivery on Xbox). There's no mention if the Switch version will receive a rollback netcode.

Hiroki also announced that Dragon Ball FighterZ is now content-complete, meaning it will not receive any more fighters or balance updates. The game received three DLC fighter packs during its lifetime that added over a dozen characters to its roster.

Embark Studios' Arc Raiders delayed into 2023

1 year 8 months ago

UPDATE 09/08/22: A blog post from Embark Studios' Patrick Söderlund gives further insight into the Arc Raiders delay.

In the post, Söderlund notes the developer has several projects in development, including a team-based first-person shooter codenamed Project Discovery. Development of this project has progressed faster than imagined.

"So much so, that we started facing the prospect of being able to release two games simultaneously. For a young, relatively small studio like ours, releasing two games in short succession would have strained our teams and resources, many of which are shared between the two projects," reads the post.

DF Direct Weekly on Kratos' comedic Xbox debut - and a memory boost for Series S

1 year 8 months ago

Welcome to the latest edition of DF Direct Weekly, which as the name continues to suggest, is our weekly news show where the team discuss what's new in the world of gaming and gaming technology. Veering at full pelt into the silly season, we kick off this episode with the astonishing War Gods Zeus of Child, or God of Warning as it's known on what can laughingly be called the game's title screen. War Gods ZoA was a essentially a shortlived homebrew game of sorts that sneaked onto the Xbox Store last week via the Creators' Collection, an unmoderated 'free for all' that essentially allows anyone to publish to PC and Xbox platforms. We had a few lighthearted requests for a full DF tech analysis so that's how we kick off this week's Direct, with a look at this abomination of a release (thankfully now deleted) running on ALL Xbox platforms. Spoilers: none can sustain a locked 60 frames per second!

There's also discussion of the news that Xbox Series S has more memory given to developers via a new update to the GDK development environment. The question is, can the 'hundreds of megabytes' added to the existing 8GB of memory make a significant difference? Alex suggests that we may see more RT modes, with the new RAM allocated to the BVH structures required to trace rays. As a counterpoint, I suggest that with 12.5GB of RAM available to developers on PS5 (at least at launch - and it's 13.5GB on Xbox) there's still a yawning chasm between Series S and other systems. I think any extra RAM is useful but I'm not sure how much of a game-changer it will be.

Street Fighter 6’s Chun-Li & Kimberly Will Star in Collaboration with Fashion Brand Onitsuka Tiger

1 year 8 months ago

Today Capcom announced a new collaboration between its upcoming fighting game Street Fighter 6 and the Japanese fashion brand Onitsuka Tiger.

According to the press release, the collaboration originates from Onitsuka Tiger’s focus on the potential of eSports to create a society without borders where everyone is accepted regardless of age, gender, nationality, or disabilities.

As Japanese brands, Capcom and Onitsuka Tiger aim to create culture by honoring tradition while adding new things to it. This will actually be the second collaboration of this kind after the one focusing on Street Fighter V in 2019.

For this project, illustrations of Chun-Li and the brand-new character Kimberly have been created basically creating a tag team of old and new that transcends generations.

Chun-Li wears Onitsuka Tiger’s iconic Mexico 66 sneakers, while Kimberly wears the Delecity model.

Collaboration T-shirts with said designs will be sold at Capcom’s Japanese online store eCapcom and the physical Capcom Stores in Tokyo and Osaka. Details will come in the near future.

Onitsuka Tiger will also sell original collaboration items featuring the cute illustrations featuring Chun-Li and Kimberly by Thai cartoonist Wisut Ponnimit. They will be available in the first half of 2023.

Apex Legends: Hunted Battle Pass Skins Shown in New Trailer

1 year 8 months ago

The 14th season of Apex Legends, Hunted, has now gotten a trailer showing off select battle pass items before the season launches tomorrow. The trailer mentions that all cosmetics in this new battle pass are “survival” themed. This very much seems to fit with everything seen of new character Vantage.

From the legendary cosmetics items named in the trailer, we are getting:

  • Veteran Voyager Legendary Wraith Skin
  • Lucky Draw Legendary Wingman Skin
  • Field Research Legendary Caustic Skin
  • Fortune Hunter Legendary Triple Take Skin

You can see the trailer full of pretty cosmetics for yourself below:

The Lucky Draw Wingman skin is most likely going to the be the legendary cosmetic that comes with simply buying the Battle Pass. The Fortune Hunter Triple Take will likely be the level 100 legendary weapon cosmetic, and there should be a level 110 skin as well with a different look. However, players will have to see that for themselves as it seems they aren’t wanting to show that off ahead of time.

Spelunky 2 is the perfect scientific measurement of fatigue

1 year 8 months ago

You might remember that I couldn’t beat Spelunky 2's first stage, no matter how hard I tried. Well, I'm proud to announce that my fortunes have since changed and that I've bested it. I should say "we", as my achievement was aided by a co-op pal, and the only person on Earth patient enough to accompany such a terrible Spelunker. We even reached the first boss, and the level after that! Before we both got splatted by an anti-gravity zombie-puppet-that-lives-underwater.

Aside from my – our – achievements, I learned that the game is a perfect measurement of fatigue. Where rulers calculate distance or Ollie's highly scientific WIPERS precipitation system measured the best rain in games, Spelunky 2 is the ultimate tool for accurately determining just how tired someone is.

Turbo Golf Racing early access review: a great new motorsport takes us one step closer to the car olympics

1 year 8 months ago

Is it lazy to describe Turbo Golf Racing as ‘Rocket League if the cars were playing golf instead of football?' A bit, yes. But it’s also largely accurate. Up to eight players race across a track, ramming their boost-enabled car into their huge futuristic golf ball to send it flying forwards until (depending on your skill or luck) it flies/rolls/plops anticlimactically into the big hole at the end. It’s golf, sort of, but fast, demanding, and often unpredictable. You don’t even have to wear silly trousers while playing it, but that’s just my personal choice.

Of course, it’s not quite so simple as hitting your ball forward and relying on the videogame gods to deem your ball worthy of reaching the goal before everybody else’s. There are 30 courses of varying length and complexity, and none of them are a simple drag race to the end. There are ramps, twists, turns, and plenty of obstacles. While the very shortest courses are pretty frictionless (I’ve won a few in under 20 seconds), the longest ones are practically begging you to make agonising mistakes.

Guilty Gear Strive 1 million units sales milestone

Arc System Works announced that it had sold over 1 million units of Guilty Gear Strive in physical shipments and digital sales worldwide. Its press release added more significance, as Strive also became the company's first-ever title to reach the million sales milestone.
