Jamie Foxx & Snoop Dogg Hunt Vampires in this New Netflix Original

1 year 9 months ago

Netflix’s original movies can be a little hit-or-miss, but their new project about vampire hunting in Los Angeles definitely looks like it’ll be a fun romp at the very least. Titled Day Shift, the movie centers around Jamie Foxx, who plays a blue-collar dad who hunts vampires for a living.

You can check out the trailer down below:

We’ll also be seeing other prolific names including Dave Franco (who is lowkey the better Franco brother, don’t @ us), who plays the nerdy sidekick that defends Breaking Dawn Part 2, which is a choice. Snoop Dogg will also star in the movie as another badass vampire hunter, and look, anything with Snoop Dogg is just destined to be great. Like season 2 of Mythic Quest.

Day Shift is set to premiere on Netflix on Aug. 12.

The Last of Us Part 1 Remake Has Gone Gold

1 year 9 months ago

Today Naughty Dog announced that its remake of The Last of Us, simply titled The Last of Us Part 1, has gone gold.

If you’re unfamiliar with the industry lingo, that means that work on the game has been completed to the extent of the data that will be printed on the game’s disk. Usually, this does not mean that everything is done, as nowadays development teams usually start working on day-one patches after a game has gone gold. Yet, it’s a major milestone in a title’s development.

Specifically, this happened quite early compared to the release date of the game on PS5 which will happen on September 2, with a PC version following at some point in the future.

How Sonic Frontiers' Open Zone And Cyber Space Evolve The Franchise

1 year 9 months ago

Sonic Frontiers

If you were to distill the concept of Sonic Frontiers into an elevator pitch, it would likely involve the term "open-world" somewhere. However, while the game features many tenants of the open-world genre, Sonic Team is adamant about calling Frontiers an "open-zone" game instead. While on the surface that sounds like little more than a marketing ploy, after chatting with the developers, it makes more sense as you dig deeper into its meaning.

Coming off 2017's Sonic Forces, a game that didn't fare well with critics or fans, the development team wanted to shake things up. Forces received criticism for its generic 3D level design, unfulfilling story, short length, and poor 2D gameplay compared to the then-newly released Sonic Mania. According to Sonic Frontiers director Morio Kishimoto (who also directed Forces), the team carried a lot of lessons from Sonic Forces and other previous 3D Sonic games into Frontiers.

Shroud Joining Sentinels Is Set to Drive Engagement to Record Heights

1 year 9 months ago

Michael “shroud” Grzesiek was recently announced as the final piece of Sentinels’ Valorant team. He is rounding out the active roster following Hunter “SicK” Mims’s announcement that he would not be competing with the team for the North American Last Chance Qualifier, which will take place in August following the conclusion of Masters 2: Copenhagen next week.

However, after being retired from competition for over four years, and with his Twitch and YouTube channels being among the most prominent in the FPS space, why would shroud return to competitive play? While we might not truly know unless we ask him ourselves, here are some speculations as to why shroud might have chosen to dive into the Valorant esports world as a player.

The Competitive Itch Never Truly Goes Away

Anyone who has competed in high-level competition knows that one’s competitive drive and spirit rarely ever fade away entirely. After years of competing and countless hours of honing skills to be the best, it’s tough to simply walk away from something that was such a massive part of one’s life. It’s the same reason why many coaches in professional sports had previous careers as professional players.

Shroud has indicated on recent streams that this was a major contributing factor to his decision to return to competitive play. In fact, it was he who reached out to Sentinels to put his name in the hat of potential candidates for the team, rather than the team reaching out to him to see if he was interested in competing once more.

Is Hela in Thor: Love and Thunder? Answered

1 year 9 months ago

The main antagonist of Thor: Ragnarok, Hela, and the Asgardian Goddess of Death continuously reigned supreme throughout her first appearance, with the might of her demonic powers and the ability to stop Mjolnir. So, now that Love and Thunder is here, is the Hela in this latest film? We’ll tell you everything you need to know about the estranged sister of Thor and Loki.

Is Hela in Thor: Love and Thunder?

Hela played a crucial role in Thor: Ragnarok as the new ruler of Asgard, yet she is not present in Love and Thunder. On the contrary, you could count Melissa McCarthy’s rendition of the character in the play within the movie, which displays other cameos like Matt Damon as Loki and Luke Hemsworth as Thor. So, at least fans got a slight reference to the Goddess of Death in a hilarious parody of what happened in Ragnarok.

The character was first introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe when she showed up after the death of Odin Borson, the father of Thor, Hela, and Loki. The events that transpire afterward result in the brutal murders of many soldiers, Asgard’s invasion, and her brothers’ banishment. But, by the end of Ragnarok, we see Hela get killed by Surtur, the fire demon, as he destroys the magical realm, fulfilling the catastrophic prophecy.

Dr. DisRespect's New FPS Is a PvPvE 'Extraction Shooter'

1 year 9 months ago

Guy "Dr. DisRespect" Beahm, the banned Twitch streamer, has revealed more details about his studio's AAA FPS blockchain game, including a name: Project Moon.

Today, his newly founded studio Midnight Society revealed details about the upcoming game. According to the studio's website, the game is a "vertical extraction shooter" with PvPvE gameplay. "Our high-level gameplay goals are to capture the essence of arena shooter level design with the scale and scope of battle royale player counts, and the session-to-session gameplay mechanics of extraction-based shooters," the website reads.

As development continues, small glimpses into the game will be released through Snapshots, which the site describes as "playable experiences focused around specific milestones" exclusively available for Access Pass holders. Through these Snapshots, players will be able to test various aspects of development, though they'll have to pay to do so. Earlier this year, 10,000 of these access passes were already sold to select individuals via a "Founders Pass" NFT for $50 apiece. Other access passes are planned to be sold at later dates.

The first Snapshot, Player Hideout, demonstrates the game's environment and weapons through various shooting ranges.

Previously, Beahm founded the studio in 2021 alongside ex-Halo and Call of Duty developers, though not much was known about the in-progress game until today.

Doom 4 Footage Reveals How Different It Might Have Been

1 year 9 months ago

The canceled Doom 4 was apparently going to be wildly different than its predecessors, and a new video of unedited footage shows off just how big of a departure the game could have been.

Released on YouTube by video game documentary channel Noclip, the footage shows off a much different vibe for the franchise. It shows the player being chased in the sewers by demons crawling on the wall and ceiling, as horror music swells in the background. It gives off more of a survival-horror vibe than the high-octane action of the Doom games. Some of the early prototype footage also evokes memories of Rage, another series developed by id Software.

Doom 4 was officially announced back in 2008. After disappearing from the news cycle for a number of years, it was officially re-revealed as Doom, which would go on to launch in 2016.

Going Over the Rune Factory 5 PC Experience

1 year 9 months ago

Rune Factory 5 Same Sex Marriage

I remember receiving the first Rune Factory game as a gift, and I was eager and excited to cut my teeth on the hybrid dungeon-crawler/farming simulator. It became an immediately memorable experience. It managed to dabble in both genres effectively, proving that a more involved Harvest Moon (now Story of Seasons) was possible. Rune Factory 5 is the latest entry in the series, with the Nintendo Switch version arriving in North America and Europe in March 2022. However, its initial release was plagued with technical issues, and the PC version of the game isn’t exactly free of them.

Immediately, I noticed several visual errors that resulted in lighting dispersed over character models in large, triangular chunks that would flash in and out of existence. This became a source of pain some hours in, with the light flashing from this glitch proving to be more than just an annoyance. While there are several graphics options available that you can select before loading the game, none of these feel particularly significant. Not to mention textures for outfits on certain characters looking pixelated and extremely rough around the edges. Switching between these options and fiddling with the menus didn’t alleviate my initial issue.

Assassin's Creed: Liberation HD 'Decomissioned' From Steam But Will Remain Playable To Owners, According To Ubisoft

1 year 9 months ago

Ubisoft has removed Assassin’s Creed: Liberation HD from Steam as part of a larger online “decommissioning” of several of its titles, most notably on PC. What alarmed owners of the game was a notice by Ubisoft implying that those who purchased it would still lose access in September. Ubisoft has clarified that will not be the case.

For context, Ubisoft recently announced it will cease online services for several of its titles on September 1, of which Liberation HD is among them. In particular, the PC versions of these titles will not only lose their online features but their DLC will be rendered inaccessible, even if you purchased it.

Yesterday, Twitter user Nors3 shared a screen capture of Liberation HD’s now-defunct Steam page, displaying a notice that states, "At the request of the publisher, Assassin's Creed Liberation HD is no longer available for sale on Steam." A second, more concerning notice reads, "Please note that this title will not be accessible following September 1st, 2022."

Can You Clear Skjall’s Name in The Witcher 3? Answered

1 year 9 months ago

CD Project Red’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is beloved, in particular, for its myriad of well-written quests, many of which feature branching dialog that intertwines multiple storylines found throughout the game. But does this apply in the case of one poor Skellige warrior who met an untimely demise while helping Ciri to escape the Wild Hunt? Can you clear Skjall’s name in the Witcher 3? Here’s everything you need to know.

There are three quests associated with Skjall’s story arc:

  • The Calm Before the Storm
  • Nameless
  • Skjall’s Grave

The first time you encounter Skjall is during a main quest playing as Ciri. Later, as Geralt, you’ll track Ciri’s last known whereabouts Larvik village. Here, villagers explain that Ciri was last seen fleeing the Wild Hunt with a man called Craven (Skjall), who they believe cowardly ran away rather than helping to fight her enemy. In order to clear his name, Craven pledged to fight a local monster, and so Geralt and Yen head to find out any further information they can from the man. Sadly, Skjall is dead, and so in order to extract information from him, Yen performs necromancy.

Ciri’s journal entry explains Skjall’s situation:

“Initially, he and his family tended to Ciri’s wounds, nursed her back to health, then he helped her flee the Wild Hunt. In doing so, he sacrificed the thing Skelligers hold dearest: his honor. Accused of cowardice, he was forced to perform a heroic deed to clear his name. Sadly, he failed. Mortally wounded by a beast in an abandoned garden, he suffered a slow, painful and lonely death.

Luckily, Ciri can later return to Skjall’s grave in a quest by the same name. She is then able to give him the proper burial he deserves for his efforts in helping her escape the Wild Hunt.

Top 10 Best Movies Like Memento

You’d be hard-pressed to find a more mind-bending thriller than Christopher Nolan’s acclaimed neo-noir murder mystery, Memento. But what if you’re after a movie much like Memento. Well, to be honest, thanks to its innovative structure, there isn’t a movie exactly like it. Still, we’ve come up with ten that we think you’ll enjoy if you’re in the mood for something like Memento. Marvel’s Midnight Suns Gets New trailer Showing Iron Man in Action

1 year 9 months ago

2K Games and Firaxis Games revealed another video of the turn-based tactical game Marvel’s Midnight Suns, dedicated to one of its playable superheroes.

Today’s video is all about introducing Iron Man, A.K.A. ultra-rich genius Tony Stark.

While the trailer is fairly brief, we get to see Iron Man in action, on top of his shiny new armor in the Midnight Sun’s signature gold and black color scheme.

This follows the trailer that showcased the gameplay of Steve Rogers A.K.A. Captain America, and another that delved into his history.

You can enjoy the trailer below.

While Iron Man is pretty much the quintessential tech-based superhero? The trailer appears to indicate that in Midnight Suns he’ll acquire some rather mystical powers, even if the trailer doesn’t go into details.

We’ll likely see more videos about him in the future as we did for Captain Americal, possibly explaining how his newfound abilities will work and where they come from.

Latest Fortnite Hotfix Nerfs Striker Burst AR, Buffs Two-Shot Shotgun

1 year 9 months ago

Another round of weapon adjustments have hit Fortnite in the latest hotfix. Those who use the the Striker Burst AR or Pump Shotgun will be slightly disappointed, but fans of the Two-Shot are in luck. It isn’t only weapons being affected, either. From now on, you won’t be able to carry as many Port-A-Fort grenades.

A tweet from Fortnite Status lists the changes as:

  • Striker Pump Shotgun body damage slightly reduced
  • Striker Burst AR deals less damage at maximum range
  • Port-A-Forts stack size reduced from 5 to 2
  • Two-Shot Shotgun fires its second shot faster

Fortnite dataminer @iFireMonkey has further detailed the damage nerfs to the two weapons.

  • Striker Pump Shotgun loses one point of damage for all rarities
  • Striker Burst AR drops damage by 1.75 at medium range and 2.8 at long range across all rarities

While this is definitely a huge blow to the Striker Burst AR, the recent addition of the Charge SMG seems to be more than worthy enough to be a primary arsenal weapon.

Tour De Jeux: Riders Republic has the rudest 'tude but such lovely cycling

1 year 9 months ago

I had expected to dislike Riders Republic because Ubisoft's marketing made the open-world xtreme sports game look like it was about gnarly middle-aged dudes with sikk lingo and twatty hats. And it is, and they are awful. But behind the rude 'tude and Fortnite-grade fashion, Riders Republic makes riding a virtual bike feel like riding a real one in a way few video games manage. Switch to the first-person camera, turn off the music and HUD, and just cycle through American national parks with your bike humming beneath you. Bliss.

A Cult Classic Stephen King Horror Film Surges Its Way Back to the Top of Netflix

1 year 9 months ago

Possibly one of the most underrated adaptations of Stephen King has come out of nowhere today to hit Netflix’s Top 10 charts. Boasting an impressive 6.23 million hours streamed this week alone, said film is clearly resonating well with audiences around the globe.

Specifically, the pic in question is 2007’s Lovecraftian psychological horror movie, The Mist, which is, according to Netflix’s official site, in at number 8 in today’s Top 10 charts. Pretty remarkable, no?

Directed by Frank Darabont, who previously adapted another Stephen King novel to the silver screen with much success called The Shawshank Redemption (you may’ve heard of it!), The Mist is a taut and atmospheric horror movie that features an overtly oppressive atmosphere, a terrific ensemble cast, and some seriously haunting visual effects.

The narrative focuses on the small rural town of Bridgton, Maine, where affable father David Drayton (Thomas Jane), eight-year-old son Billy (Nathan Gamble) and disgruntled neighbour Brent Norton (Andre Braugher) are tasked with venturing out to their local grocery store to pick up supplies following a nasty storm. Downed telephone lines, bustling aisles, mysterious military personnel, and a handful of oddball characters await them, including the neighbourhood religious nut, Mrs. Carmody (Marcia Gay Holden).

GoldenEye 007: Long-Rumoured Remaster Reportedly in Limbo Due to Ukraine War

A GoldenEye remake appeared closer than ever last month as Microsoft actually listed its achievements on its official website, with some developers already having already unlocked them. Microsoft therefore may be ready to release the game.

The Walking Dead's "next big instalment" is a live game taking place on Facebook

1 year 9 months ago

When was the last time you played a game on Facebook? Well, Meta is hoping to tempt you back to its platform with an interesting prospect: a daily, choice-based narrative experience taking place over the course of the next four months, titled The Walking Dead: Last Mile.

A massively interactive live event (MILE), the project is a collaboration between publisher Genvid, which specialises in these part-game, part-interactive stream, part-live show creations, with design and narrative input from The Walking Dead's team at Skybound and funding from Facebook.

The big sell is that Last Mile is a new chapter of The Walking Dead's lore, which will unfold across the next couple of months based upon decisions made by players, with the resulting narrative becoming franchise "canon" in line with the original comic books. And for fans of Telltale's The Walking Dead games, there's a clear influence in art style and design language, if not gameplay.

I think I might actually want a Steam Deck because the Nintendo eShop isn't as good as Steam

1 year 9 months ago

I have long been on the "eh, seems okay" side of the fence regarding Valve's newest lil child. To me, the Steam Deck did not do anything not already covered by the four different video game boxes I already own. The largest advantage afforded by the Steam Deck, the ability to play cool games on a handheld device, was surely the domain of the Nintendo Switch - a console that I personally use about once a year. Usually the process is that I go "Oh yeah!", pick up the Switch, and contemplate buying Breath Of The Wild before I see that it has not depreciated in value whatsoever since it came out five years ago. Then I turn off the Switch.

Last week, though, I picked up the Switch, saw that Tangle Tower was on sale, and played it through in one go. "This is great!", I thought, marvelling at how I could play a game while sitting on the sofa, but leaving the TV free for my partner to watch whatever stupid TV show he wanted. I went to look for other cool indie games that might be on sale on the Switch, and that's when I discovered that the Switch eshop is hot garbage unless you know specifically what you're looking for. So now I want a Switch.

Halo Infinite finally getting some new story, but it's in a tie-in book

1 year 9 months ago

A new novel based in the Halo universe is coming to stores on 9th August.

This book, which is called Halo: The Rubicon Protocol, will act as a prequel to Halo Infinite and tells of the six months before Master Chief wakes up and the game's campaign begins.

It sounds like this will offer up some useful bits of background information for those who started Halo Infinite and found themselves a touch confused by what exactly was going on. While some of this history can be picked up in-game thanks to some well-placed audio logs, it could definitely be made clearer for players from the off.
