Our eight favourite games from Gamescom Opening Night Live

1 year 8 months ago

It wouldn't be Gamescom without a Geoff Keighley liveshow to kick it all off, would it? Tuesday's Opening Night Live showcase featured a huge amount of trailers to gawk at, a baggage carousel of content that moved at a blistering clip. Despite its two hour runtime a lot of interesting (and in most cases, new) titles weren't given a huge amount space to breathe, their moment in the spotlight frequently cut short by another trailer waiting impatiently in the wings.

You'd be forgiven, then, for missing a few bits and pieces because you were blinking really fast or distracted by the cat eating something unknown underneath your coffee table. Not to worry though, as I've once again gathered team RPS to tell me in detail about the games that caught their attention during Geoffcom 2022.

Much like our E3 roundup from earlier in the summer, each RPS staffer took ten minutes out of their day to wax lyrical about an upcoming project featured within the showcase. All eight (including yours truly, who thanks to Katharine actually remembered to contribute this time around) chose completely different games. Some picks are more obvious, whereas others are a little off piste. In a good way, of course!

Get a 1TB Micro SD card for your Steam Deck for just £110

1 year 8 months ago

The Steam Deck is a brilliant system, but its internal storage is limited - from anywhere from 64GB to 512GB depending on the model you chose. Thankfully, Micro SD cards are getting extremely affordable, even in massive sizes all the way up to 1TB. Smaller sizes like 256GB and 512GB are better value per gigabyte, but today in the UK there's been a big discount on a 1TB Lexar Play Micro SD card that brings it into contention too.

The Lexar Play 1TB is now retailing for £110 at Amazon, compared to a usual price of £140. If you'd prefer something a little more high performance, the highly-rated SanDisk Extreme 1TB card is also on sale, dropping from £220 to £140.

Valve have made a free booklet about the origins of Steam and the Steam Deck

1 year 8 months ago

Valve have produced a teensy digital booklet about the history of Steam and the Steam Deck as they prepare to introduce it to potential customers in the Asia-Pacific region. The 50-ish-page guide to everything Steam Deck also features a rundown of Valve’s relatively short history of manufacturing hardware such as the Steam Link and Steam Controller, and the Valve Index VR headset.

The scale in Homeworld 3 is tremendous - it's a space RTS for the James Webb era

1 year 8 months ago

Homeworld is back: that's Homeworld 3 in a nutshell. It's the real-time strategy series you remember and, probably, what you want it to be now. And actually, to hear Rob Cunningham tell it in our interview below - he who helped dream up Homeworld and co-founded Relic, and now leads Blackbird, the studio making Homeworld 3 - this game is actually what they always wanted Homeworld 2 to be. Computers just couldn't handle it at the time.

But now they can. They can handle this big idea of using space wreckage as cover to hide behind, fly through, sneak around - use it like a theatrical set you can play tricks on your opponents with. I'm over here - no not really, I'm over here! And I've played Homeworld 3 for about an hour and the idea really works. More importantly, it's simple to use. No fussy controls govern it; your cursor shows how ships will interact with a piece of scenery and then they do. They will make trench-runs on their own with only a simple instruction - trench-runs! They'll fly through huge engine shafts of colossal wrecks on their own - peekaboo! They'll even use nearby cover automatically while preparing for another attack run. They are not dumb: they won't fly into walls and scenery if you leave them unattended. And it's fun.

And those two words "it's fun" are crucial to what Homeworld 3 is about. It's as though the faff of the old games has been tidied away - but not sacrificed - to enable the exciting parts of the formula to come through. And what really comes through for me is space.

How To Fix Call of Duty (CoD) Warzone Error Code 38

1 year 8 months ago

Activision has led the way for live service games with its continued support of Warzone, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t bugs and glitches that still plague the experience. Here’s how to fix Call of Duty Warzone error code 38 if you’re experiencing issues.

How To Fix Call of Duty (CoD) Warzone Error Code 38

Error code 38 is typically caused by an out-of-date game client; therefore, your immediate go-to when trying to problem solve the issue should be to ensure Warzone is on the latest patch. If you’re a console player, this is a very simple process.

  • Locate Warzone in your game files/apps
  • For PlayStation users: Press the ‘Options’ button, then ‘Check for Update’
  • For Xbox users: Select ‘Manage Game,’ then ‘Downloads’
  • You’ll be prompted if there’s an available update, which you should install

This should clear any issues with Error Code 38, so reboot and try to play the game.

If this does not solve your issue, try a hard reboot of your console — typically performed by holding down the power button for several seconds and removing the plug from the console for 30 seconds, then powering up.

If Error Code 38 still persists, try rebooting your internet router and attempting once more to play once a connection has been re-established. Finally, your last resort, as is usually the case, is to completely reinstall Warzone.

That’s everything we have on how to fix Call of Duty (CoD) Warzone Error Code 38. For more useful tips on the game, including other issues such as the disconnect error, search Twinfinite or check out some of the related content listed below.

PSA: SWTOR Players Can Earn a Midnight Rakling Pet by Fighting a Hidden Boss This Week

1 year 8 months ago

If you’re still playing SWTOR and want an adorable pet, then we’ve got an important and timely reminder for you. This week only, you’ll be able to take on the hidden Midnight Rakghoul boss in the game’s Koon Under Seige flashpoint this week to earn a Midnight Rakling pet.

How to Get the Midnight Rakling Pet

According to SWTOR expert TodayinTOR, the Midnight Rackghoul can be found in both Veteran and Master modes of the flashpoint and is classed as a hidden boss due to only appearing during Rakghoul Event weeks.

SWTOR’s current Rakghoul Event takes players back to Tatooine to help the T.H.O.R.N. organization deal with a Rakghoul resurgence and offers new armor sets, weapons, and contacts. The Rakghoul Resurgence event will conclude on Aug. 30, 2022, meaning that there’s still some time for players to tangle with the Midnight Rakghoul.

The Midnight Rakghoul can be found just before entering the final Spaceport map of the flashpoint. Players should then make their way to the South-West of the Transit District map and head to the Spaceport as usual but take a right when heading up the stairs. Continuing West will lead to a higher platform where the Midnight Rakghoul can be found rampaging around a security fence.

Defeating the Midnight Rakghoul will reward players with a Midnight Rakling as a pet. The Midnight Rakling is basically a mini-me version of the boss and can be given to one of your party members when looting the defeated boss. An achievement can also be unlocked for summoning the Midnight Rakling when fighting the Rakghoul Underlucker in the Rakghoul Tunnels.

Tsurune Takes Flight in an Exciting New Trailer Promoting Season 2

1 year 8 months ago

The first teaser trailer for Tsurune season 2 has just been released on the anime’s official website and Twitter. While short in duration, the video packs a punch, featuring quick cuts focusing on showcasing the martial art of kyūdō archery from the main character’s perspective, Minato Narumiya.

Minato provides a voice-over during the teaser. There are no English subtitles available, but the artwork and music convey the tone of the series and offer a glimpse into its world.

From the first season, Minato was a former kyūdō student who eventually lost his interest in archery. A specific incident during one of his middle school tournaments is the main cause for his disinterest.

In Minato’s new high school, he finds himself being pulled back into kyūdō. His childhood friends Ryōhei Yamanouchi and Seiya Takehayareunite reunite with him. And soon, Minato realizes that he has no other choice but to once again pick up a bow and arrow.

Tsurune’s second season has been a long time in the making and is highly anticipated. After the light novel won an award, the first season was released in 2018. A Tsurune movie based on the first season has also been produced.

When Will Better Call Saul Season 6 Be on Netflix?

1 year 8 months ago

Better Call Saul just recently wrapped up its finale, and fans are raving about just how good everything turned out. For some, though, they still haven’t had a chance to watch the last season of the show, and are hoping to catch it on their favorite streaming platform. Here is everything you need to know about when Better Call Saul Season 6 will be on Netflix.

It is important to note that some areas already have Better Call Saul Season 6 in full, as it comes to the platform shortly after it aired each week in 40 regions throughout the world. Unfortunately, for some, like the US and Canada, that is not the case.

When Will Better Call Saul Season 6 Be on Netflix?

If you managed to be one of the few regions that don’t get the show on Netflix, you’ll probably be waiting a while. The quick answer is there is no release date for Better Call Saul Season 6 on Netflix yet for many regions, like US and Canada.

Previous seasons have been added to the platform around the time a new season is set to air. Since Season 6 is the last one, though, there’s no specific time frame. If we had to guess, it could be anywhere from 6-12 months until it arrives on Netflix, simply based on past trends with Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.

If you can’t watch it on Netflix right now, though, where can you watch it if you don’t want to wait?

Where Can I Watch Better Call Saul Season 6?

If you don’t want to wait to watch Better Call Saul Season 6, you can watch it on AMC+. If you’re a binge watcher, you can even sign up for the seven-day free trial; otherwise, between $7 and $9 a month, depending on how you sign up.

Why Is My Warzone Friends List Not Showing? How To Fix Wz Friends Offline & Not Showing

1 year 8 months ago

Call of Duty fans are having a bit of a headache as of late, with many running into an error that seems to hide their Friends List. This issue can definitely be frustrating as it prevents you from being able to get together and play the shooter with your mates. Here is everything you need to know about how to fix Wz Friends Online and not showing in Call of Duty Warzone.

How To Fix Wz Friends Offline & Not Showing

There are a handful of different ways to approach your Friends List not showing up in Warzone, as there are various issues and fixes that could occur. The first thing we recommend you do is to turn your game on and back off again. Doing this will likely make the list pop back up upon relaunch.

If that doesn’t work, your connection could also be an issue, so be sure to try and restart your router. If the issues persist, try turning off crossplay by going into settings and disabling it – for some odd reason, this helps.

Lastly, make sure that your game is completely up to date. If you still need an update, sometimes general features will be locked until you’ve installed the latest version of the game.

Best Xbox One Adult Games 2022 That You Can Play Right Now

1 year 8 months ago

There aren’t many adult games on home consoles that you can find. Microsoft, like Nintendo and Sony, has stricter rules when it comes to sexual and sexy games appearing on their home consoles. That said there are some you can enjoy. These are the best adult games on Xbox One that you can play right now.

Keep in mind, like we said, traditional adult, sexy and sexual games don’t really exist on the Xbox One and especially the Xbox One which lacks a lot of Japanese games that support this type of fanservice that occasionally appear on the PlayStation 4.

If you have a PC, you can find many, many more adult games than what is available on the Xbox One. So keep this list of games in mind if you’re finding the Xbox One’s options to be lacking.

Homeworld 3’s Space Terrain Makes the Death Star Trench Run an RTS Tactic

1 year 8 months ago

Space is not known for its interesting terrain. The word itself pretty much implies a complete absence of terrain, and so it’s logical that the original Homeworld series - RTS games set in the airless vacuum of outer space - did not have terrain. But that was the early 2000s. Now, the long-awaited sequel Homeworld 3, releasing in 2023, is reinventing one of the fundamentals of strategy combat in space. It’s got terrain, which means it has cover mechanics, and that completely changes the game.

During an hour-long hands-on session at Gamescom 2022 I played two early missions from Homeworld 3; the tutorial-focused Facility 315, and the more danger-packed Kesura Oasis. Both were populated by dozens of pieces of terrain; asteroids, derelict space freighters, and colossal mega-structures are just some of the items floating in Homeworld 3’s maps.

Adorable Social Sim Mineko's Night Market Reemerges With New Trailer

1 year 8 months ago

It's been a while, but development on adorable social sim Mineko's Night Market is still chugging away, with the cat-filled game getting a new trailer this week at Gamescom.

Mineko's Night market follows Mineko, a young girl who has just arrived on the struggling Mount Fugu Island, where villagers have begun to catch sight of the mysterious Sun Cat Abe, who they worship. Mineko must work to restore the village to its former glory through daily activities, quests, crafting, and participation in the weekly Night Market where she can buy, barter, befriend the townsfolk, and play games.

For those following Mineko's Night Market, it's been a long wait. The game was first announced as far back as 2015 and at one point was planned for a 2019 release, but was pushed back repeatedly. It's made by a very small team, but has since picked up a publisher in Humble Bundle and a number of other partners, including A Shell in the Pit for audio. Currently, it has no planned release date still, but is anticipated for Nintendo Switch and PC when the time comes.

Even if its actual release date has been hazy for a long time, every time Mineko's Night Market has resurfaced it's looked better and better. Hopefully this latest trailer means we might finally get to visit the night market sooner rather than later.

Gord Is Aiming to Cross The Witcher with Rimworld (and the Signs are Good)

1 year 8 months ago

Understandably, a lot of the talk about upcoming ‘adventure-strategy’ game Gord has focused on debut developer Covenant’s connection to The Witcher. Made up of a variety of Polish AAA developers, some of which moved on from CD Projekt Red to set up the studio, Covenant isn’t running far from its roots - like much of The Witcher, Gord takes place in a grim, pastoral fantasy world inspired by Slavic folklore. But when I saw it at Gamescom, Covenant CEO Stan Just made a different comparison that reveals Gord’s promise - Rimworld.

Like Rimworld, Gord begins by giving you a smattering of generated villagers, each with individual personality traits that can affect their working and personal lives. Like Rimworld, you task those villagers with building a colony from scratch, erecting a temple to their gods, building a palisade wall to keep out the various threats lurking in the dark, and collecting the resources needed to do so. And, like Rimworld, Gord wants to help turn tiny moments into unexpected, personal stories that emerge naturally.

It’s a great set-up, building in elements of real-time strategy (on first glance, this presents itself like a classic top-down unit control game) and survival games to see you grow attached to your townsfolk over time as they build your village. Success is measured by the townsfolk’s sanity (happiness isn’t really measurable in a world as miserable as this) as well as how much progress you make in creating a functioning settlement.

Nobody Saves the World Announces DLC Expansion, Frozen Hearth

1 year 8 months ago

Shapeshifting action-adventure game, Nobody Saves the World is getting a DLC expansion. Frozen Hearth will add new areas, challenges and forms, and will arrive on September 13.

Annnounced during IGN's Awesome Indies showcase at Gamescom, Frozen Hearth sees players find an underground region in which "the strongest warriors compete for glory in The Tempering, a series of puzzles and challenges that will push players’ transformation skills and creativity."

The expansion adds two new transformation forms – Killer Bee and Mechanic – new characters to meet, and rewards for conquering the Tempering. The expansion will retail at $4.99 USD on all platforms.

“When we shipped the original game, there were so many ideas we had to leave on the cutting room floor, and this DLC gave us a chance to bring some of them to life,” says lead designer Ian Campbell, Lead Designer. “We had a blast creating even more forms, as well as puzzles and challenges that make the most of the game’s mix-and-match customization!”

We awarded Nobody Saves the World a 7/10 review, saying "at its best, which it is for a majority of the 15-hour campaign, it's a joy to play."

The Last of Us Part 1 Uses PlayStation 5's Haptic Feedback to Help Deaf Gamers

1 year 8 months ago

The upcoming remake of The Last of Us Part 1 has some interesting accessibility features, including the use of haptic feedback to help deaf gamers feel how dialogue is delivered.

A PlayStation Blog post outlined the several accessibility features arriving in the game, carrying on from The Last of Us Part 2's extensive array of modifiers.

“[One feature] which started as a prototype but ended up being really successful during playtesting is a feature that plays dialogue through the PS5 DualSense controller as haptic feedback,” said game director Matthew Gallant. “That way a deaf player can feel the way a line is delivered, can feel the emphasis, along with the subtitles to give some sense of how that line is delivered.”

This interesting new feature is made possible due to the PS5’s DualSense controller and its haptic feedback, a far more nuanced response than a simple rumble or vibration from other controllers.

Of course, it’s not the only accessible feature being added. “We’re expecting this to be an accessible experience for blind players, for deaf players, for players with motor accessibility needs,” said Gallant.

“The biggest new feature we have are audio descriptions for cinematics. We partnered with Descriptive Video Works, a professional service whose background is TV, movies and video game trailers, and integrated it into the cutscenes and across all our localized languages.”

Hello Neighbor Publisher Acquires Surgeon Simulator, I Am Bread, and Other Bossa Studios IP

1 year 8 months ago

Hello Neighbor publisher TinyBuild has acquired Bossa Studios IPs including Surgeon Simulator, I Am Bread, and I Am Fish for $3 million.

As reported by GamesIndustry.biz, Bossa Studios was looking to sell its catalog of existing IPs as it moves on to developing games "exclusively in the genre of co-op PvE". According to job listings on Bossa's website, the studio is working on a free-to-play, survival or "survival-adjacent" live-service game.

"Together with TinyBuild, we found a path that allows Bossa to dedicate its full attention to its new projects, while ensuring Surgeon Simulator, I Am Bread, and I Am Fish have a new home that understands what makes these games tick as well as we do," said Bossa co-founder Henrique Olifiers.

Surgeon Simulator and I Am Bread are arguably the most known titles being bought, both veering on the slightly ridiculous sides of what a video game can be.

Surgeon Simulator is quite a bit different from other sims, as players typically spend as much time juggling organs as they do performing surgery, while I Am Bread lets players play as, well, a bit of bread.

Destroy All Humans! 2: Reprobed Review

1 year 8 months ago

There was a time, back in the PlayStation 2 and original Xbox era, when a lot of sequels were what kids today would call “just a bunch of DLC stuck together.” That’s basically what we’ve got with Destroy All Humans! 2: Reprobed – a loyal, graphically updated remake of a 2006 sequel that goes to new locations, adds a handful of new weapons and enemy types, revamps the upgrade system, and extends the story. Even so, it plays so similarly to 2020’s Destroy All Humans! Reprobed that it feels like a clone of what I played two years ago – except its comedy act has already worn a bit thin.

Bearing that in mind, I have pretty much the same praise and the same complaints about the quality of this remake. The gameplay has held up fairly well in that it’s pretty satisfying to bounce around with a jetpack blasting people with a Palpatine-like lightning gun and popping their heads to collect the brains inside. Cartoony character models and 4K textures look respectable when making out details like Crypto’s pointy teeth, and the dynamic lighting effects cast by various ray guns are a nice touch. It’s the animations and lip syncing that seem behind the times; stiff movements and strange gesticulations during cutscenes remind us of a world before motion-capture animation became the norm and give everyone an action figure look – you can't unsee the barely articulated fingers. It’s also noticeable that there aren’t that many unique faces among NPCs, and it’s fairly common to come face to face with a doppleganger every minute or two when you’ve possessed a human body (which works very much like the first game’s HoloBob disguise).

Total War Developer Creative Assembly Is Working on a New Action Game

1 year 8 months ago

A third-person action game is on the way from Creative Assembly, the developer renowned for its Total War strategy games including Shogun: Total War and the more recent Total War Saga: Troy.

Creative Assembly also develops the Games Workshop series Total War: Warhammer - with the most recent Warhammer III arriving earlier this year - but it's not averse to non-strategy games either.

The new project is said to “sit alongside Total War, Hyenas and the studio’s other yet-to-be announced project”, and in an official announcement, the studio said it’s looking for developers “with experience working on third-person titles using the Unreal 5 engine”.

Creative Assembly may be best known for its strategy offerings, but it’s also dabbled with action-adventure before – notably with the survival horror game, Alien: Isolation. But will the new game be based on an existing franchise?

Unfortunately, details are pretty scarce. Aside from revealing the existence of this new action game, and teasing its third-person nature, there are no other details about what the game might entail.

In Atlas Fallen You Play as a Sand Thanos Whose Mission is to Punch a God

1 year 8 months ago

The reveal trailer for Atlas Fallen didn’t give too much away. We knew there was lots of sand, and that some gnarly looking monsters liked to call it home. After seeing roughly 20 minutes of gameplay behind closed doors at gamescom 2022, I can confirm that there’s a whole lot more to it than that - and it all looks very exciting. A fast-paced, semi-open world action RPG, Atlas Fallen shows flashes of Monster Hunter, Control, and the Horizon series, while also introducing some intriguing new ideas of its own.

Fully playable in both single-player and two-player co-op, Atlas Fallen is a narrative-driven RPG that is, refreshingly, neither a soulslike or live-service game. Multiple (at least six that I know of) fairly large open areas make up the world and are unlocked as you make your way through its story. The world is called Atlas and, you guessed it, it has fallen. Sand covers everything from your feet to the horizon with old world ruins occasionally surfacing the sea of gold. This is because Atlas is under the tyrannical rule of the Sun God, who enlists the human population to mine and collect Essence - a valuable material used in rituals to honour the deity.

House of the Dragon: Game of Thrones Prequel Renewed for Season 2

1 year 8 months ago

HBO has confirmed that Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon will return for a second season.

The news comes after just one episode of the show - set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones - premiered on HBO and HBO Max, but isn't entirely surprising given the success of its predecessor.

The first episode, which aired on August 21, was the largest premiere in HBO Max history as close to 10 million people tuned in on opening night. Ironically this proved to be a little too much for the streaming service, as several thousand users were left unable to watch due to the app crashing.

While it's unlikely the numbers will stay as high for the entirety of the ten episode season, Game of Thrones fans in for the long haul will at least have more House of the Dragon to look forward to thanks to the Season 2 confirmation.

It's the first Game of Thrones spin-off to make it to TV, with several other ideas pitched, developed, and scrapped - including a Long Night prequel that HBO spent $30 million on.

Where Is Xur Today? (August 26-30) Destiny 2 Xur Location And Exotic Items Guide

1 year 8 months ago

It's the very first week of Season of Plunder in Destiny 2, and Xur has arrived to offer a few classic Exotics to players. Here's where you can find the Agent of the Nine this weekend and everything he's selling.

This week you can find Xur in the Tower, in the Hangar area. For his weapon, Xur is offering Skyburner's Oath. Hunters can pick up the Raiju's Harness chest armor; Titans can grab the Eternal Warrior helmet; and for Warlocks, Xur has the Aeon Soul gauntlets.

Xur Location

Xur's location in the Tower.

Spawn in using the Courtyard transmat zone in the Tower to find Xur this week. Head left and down the stairs to enter the Hangar section, then hang another left. Make your way to the north end of the area and look for a staircase that will take you onto a catwalk, where Xur is waiting.

Xur is present every weekend in Destiny 2, starting with the daily reset at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET each Friday. His exact location is always a mystery when he first arrives, as he is not listed on the map, and for novice players, he can be easy to miss. However, there are a set number of locations where he takes up residence, including the Tower Hangar area, on Nessus in Watcher's Grave, and in the Winding Cove area of the EDZ.

How To Turn Your Warlock Into A Thunder God In Destiny 2: Arc 3.0 Season Of Plunder Builds

1 year 8 months ago

One of the best parts of Destiny 2 is experimenting with its Exotics, armor mods, and subclass setups to find interesting loadouts for your Guardian. For Season of Plunder and the overhauled Arc subclass, some of the builds available can produce shocking results, pun fully intended. Warlocks have some great loadouts to tinker with, and you can easily live out your Emperor Palpatine fantasy with builds that channel pure "unlimited power" energy with Arc 3.0.

For Season of Plunder, one of the first Warlock builds that we've started playing with is a combo of new Exotics that'll turn your space wizard into a force to be reckoned with. Echoing the Solar 3.0 grenadier build that was popular in Season of the Haunted, combining these two Exotics and fine-tuning your armor mods, Aspects, and Fragments can create a Guardian that disintegrates entire waves of enemies with relative ease. Here's how you can turn your Warlock into an elemental force to be reckoned with.

Koei Tecmo also announced that the first publicly playable demo for Wo Long will be available at Koei Tecmo's booth at the Tokyo Game Show, which begins September 15. Producers Fumihiko Yasuda and Masaaki Yamagiwa will be on hand at the event to showcase a brand-new stage.

Speaking to IGN, Yasuda said the biggest different from Nioh, in terms of gameplay, is an emphasis on speed.

"There's no stamina gauge like you had in Nioh, so you'll constantly be confronted by a multitude of situations in which you need to react immediately. You can choose to play more aggressively, but there are also a lot of new ways to evade enemy attacks."

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is in the works for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC for release in early 2023. The game will be available day one on Xbox Game Pass for subscribers on console and PC.

Destiny 2's New Craftable Taipan-4FR Linear Fusion Rifle Is A Must-Have, Here's How To Get It

1 year 8 months ago

With Destiny 2’s Season of the Plunder came loads of new weapons and gear to hunt for, but players have been eagerly seeking the new craftable Taipan-4FR Void Legendary linear fusion rifle that comes from a pretty straightforward quest. This quest isn’t part of the seasonal story, and it feels more like a review on how to craft weapons at the Enclave's Relic. There's a chance to get the red border Deepsight Taipan-4FR to drop from activities, but this quest guarantees that you'll receive enough to be able to craft your own.

You don't need to be a god roll enthusiast to see that Taipan-4FR has the potential to become a powerful Heavy weapon for PvE activities after upgrading its Weapon Level. Traits like Clown Cartridge and Firing Line become available at Weapon Level 10, and Triple Tap at level 8. Those traits make it strong, but Enhanced traits (better versions of the original traits) become available at the Relic at higher Weapon Levels. This linear fusion also has the Veist Stinger Origin trait, where damaging an enemy can reload the magazine and increase movement speed when aiming down sights. All of this is to say, being able to craft a linear fusion rifle with exactly the right perks--when it also has Veist Stinger--is something you shouldn't skip.

Apex Legends Season 14 Tier List: Best Legends For Battle Royale

1 year 8 months ago

Apex Legends has long been an engaging and fast-paced battle royale that is brought to life by a multitude of playable legends, each bringing something unique to your team's composition. A myriad of defensive, offensive, support, and recon characters ensure that players have plenty of freedom to choose what type of role they'd be best at, but there will always be a few legends that sit on the top of the game’s meta--just as there will always be some that fall short of greatness. Here's our tier list of the best legends in Apex Legends.

S-Tier

These legends are invaluable additions to any team composition and have few, if any, major weaknesses. In this tier, we have three legends.

Offensive legend Wraith

Bloodhound

Bloodhound consistently ranks among the most used characters and boasts an incredible win rate. This is due to their staggeringly good kit of abilities, the best of which is a tactical that scans enemies through walls to reveal their location to all teammates. Additionally, they can track the location of enemies on the ground to find engagements, and their ultimate speeds them up and grants them quicker recharge time on their tactical ability. There simply isn’t a better recon character to have on your team.

Sifu Gets New Update Next Week, Adds Gameplay Modifiers And Scoring System

1 year 8 months ago

Developer Sloclap has revealed that Sifu's summer update is launching on August 31. The update adds several new features to the action beat-'em-up game, including gameplay modifiers, a scoring system, and more outfits.

The new gameplay modifiers can both make Sifu a whole lot easier or more difficult. You could, for instance, make Sifu more approachable by giving yourself infinite health or unbreakable weapons, or really test your skills by removing respawns or reducing the protagonist's max health to one hit point.

You can mix and match modifiers to your heart's content. Using the ones that make the game easier will prevent you from earning Trophies, however.

If turned on, the new scoring system allows you to work towards a letter grade with each encounter. The system takes into account your successful combos and finishers, as well as how often you're hit. But there's more to this system than the bragging rights.

"Getting high scores will unlock some extra content such as outfits or new gameplay modifiers," Sloclap marketing manager Felix Garczynski said at a Sifu preview event. "For example, the bullet time mode or the low gravity--options that are really just for fun--will be unlocked through the scoring system."

As for outfits, the summer update adds both the Enforcer Armor and Master Hand. The former is only unlocked if you buy the Deluxe Edition of Sifu, while the latter is available for everyone. Notably, the Master Hand has gameplay ramifications, dressing the protagonist up in a stylish coat and hat. The hat will only stay on your head as long as you haven't been hit, however, so the only way to keep the hat on for the entire game is to make it through Sifu's entire story without suffering a single blow.

Mew, Dodrio, And Scizor Are Coming To Pokemon Unite In September

1 year 8 months ago

Pokemon Unite is getting three new champions in September: Mew, Dodrio, and Scizor. Their release dates will be staggered across the month. Mew will arrive first on September 9, Dodrio on September 14, and Scizor on September 28.

Mew is a ranged attacker and has more learnable moves than other Pokemon. Uniquely, it can also forget and learn moves again during battle--something other units can't. Usually, when you select a skill for a Pokemon, the Pokemon can't change it mid-battle. To get Mew, players will need to collect mural fragments. How these fragments are earned is currently unknown.

Accompanying Mew is a new map called Theia Sky Ruins Unearthed. It's a floating arena with Legendary Pokemon to fight and will also host Legacy Trainer Showdowns--a new feature where players can fight against Trainers from various Pokemon titles, including Raihan and Leon from Pokemon Sword and Shield, as well as Korrina from Pokemon X and Y. All ranked and standard matches will be moved to Theia Sky Ruins starting September 2.

Amazon Reportedly Isn't Buying EA, Despite Today’s Report

1 year 8 months ago

Earlier today, a report suggested that Amazon was set to announce an acquisition of games mega publisher Electronic Arts. However, a subsequent report has swiftly refuted that notion. All of this comes amid previous reports that EA had been exploring the possibility of an acquisition or merger. Following the news of the rumored deal, Amazon's stock briefly rose before settling down again in morning trade.

According to sources that spoke to GLHF, Amazon's purchase of EA Games was set to be announced later today, but that claim has been disputed by CNBC. "I have talked to some people who would actually know if there was something going on, and they say there's nothing going on," CNBC's David Farber said. Farber also mentioned that Comcast-NBC Universal had been approached by EA for a potential deal, but it eventually fell through.

Nintendo Confirms No Switch Price Hike In Wake Of PS5 Increase

1 year 8 months ago

Nintendo will not raise the price of the Nintendo Switch, the company has confirmed in the wake of Sony's decision to hike the price of the PlayStation 5 around the world (but not in the US).

In a statement to Eurogamer, Nintendo said it has "no plans to increase the trade price of its hardware."

"While we cannot comment on pricing strategies, we currently do not have any plans to change the price of our hardware due to inflation or increased procurement costs in each country," Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said in the statement. "We will determine our future pricing strategies through careful and continued deliberations. While the final price to consumers is always determined by retailers... Nintendo has no plans to increase the trade price of its hardware."

This follows a statement from Microsoft that was less direct. The company said it is "constantly evaluating" its business to "offer our fans great gaming options." The statement also pointed to the existing MSRPs for the Series S and Series X, but the statement never flat-out denies a potential price hike.

Nintendo's statement is no surprise, as the company previously said it would not raise the price of the Switch despite growing costs due to component issues and shipping considerations. Nintendo is, however, decreasing the size of Switch packaging to help with shipping issues.
