December 2021

What's In The Fortnite Item Shop Today - December, 1 2021: Dark Bomber Returns

2 years 4 months ago

It's a new day in the Fortnite Item Shop, but the store is full of some old-school skins that long-time fans may enjoy. From as early as Chapter 1, Season 1 to as new as the latest collab, today's Item Shop inventory is an emblematic mix of oldies and newer crossovers, reminding us how far Fortnite has come in just four years. Here's everything in the Fortnite Item Shop for December 1, 2021.

There's maybe no single marquee item today, though if we're talking fan favorites, Dark Bomber may get the nod. She returns with her complete set, which includes back bling, as well as an optional pickaxe and glider as add-ons if you want to complete her cube-corrupted look. Here's everything in the Dark Bomber's Lightning and Thunderstorms set:

  • Dark Bomber skin (includes Dark Bag back bling) - 1,200 V-Bucks
  • Thunder Crash pickaxe - 1,200 V-Bucks
  • Dark Glyph glider - 500 V-Bucks
Let the power of the cubes wash over you.

There's no bundle for the complete set, so you're at the mercy of their stickered prices. If you're not one to support a cube-ish look--what with the ongoing destruction of Apollo and all-- you can grab other old-school skins such as the Lucha bundle for 2,200 V-Bucks which includes pro wrestlers Dynamo and Masked Fury and all of their accessories from way back during Chapter 1, Season 5.

WWI Shooter Adds Giant Moustache Option For Movember

The game's focus on historical accuracy and authenticity extends to its character options, with the styling options paying homage to the wide range of facial hair that was worn during WWI.

Over the last month, developer BlackMill Games has been marking Movember by exploring the history of wartime facial hair on its social media channels, while also asking fans to vote on the historical style they most wanted to see in the game--based on four real-life individuals who had a big impact on the war.

Exclusive Assetto Corsa Competizione Trailer Reveals New-Gen Upgrades

2 years 4 months ago

IGN is pleased to exclusively debut the new trailer for Assetto Corsa Competizione, showcasing the new features coming as part of the newly upgraded PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions.

The free upgrade will bring Assetto Corsa Competizione up to 60 frames-per-second, as well as add a progressive full day cycle to races for authentic sunsets and atmospheric lighting. Randomly generated weather further contributes to the atmosphere, with cloudy skies and rain really making Silverstone feel authentic.

Weather is about more than just making the atmosphere authentic, though; rain affects the physics of the track, combining with other systems to affect gameplay. Rubber deposits on the track that build up lap after lap create enhanced grip over the course of a race, but if it begins to rain then those rubbered lines lose grip, and so drivers must properly adapt to the random weather patterns in order to succeed.

Other new generation enhancements include updated liveries from the 2021 race season, and private multiplayer lobbies.

All these features will be provided as a free upgrade for people who own the PS4 or Xbox One version of Assetto Corsa Competizione. All save data and owned DLC will carry over to the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions. The free upgrade will be available from February 24, 2022.

New US Congress Bill Could Ban Bots Used To Purchase Consoles

2 years 4 months ago

A new bill introduced to Congress could automatically ban bots often used by resellers to buy consoles such as the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X.

This news comes by way of Video Games Chronicle, which reports that the bill, dubbed the "Stopping Grinch Bots Act," was introduced by Representative Paul Tonko, Senator Richard Blumenthal, Senator Majority Leader Charles Schumer, and Senator Ben Ray Luján. In a statement about the recently-introduced bill, Tonko said that "Grinch bots" are forcing Americans to pay exorbitant prices for gifts this holiday season.

Only second to sneakers, a market that's been heavily influenced by bots for years, consoles are likely what bots are targeting most this season. With the release of the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles still fresh, it's been more challenging than ever to nab one of these new-gen consoles at MSRP. That's because the second these consoles go live, would-be buyers must beat out bots that automatically place the consoles in someone's cart and check out.

2 years 4 months ago

The dizzy deals of Black Friday and Cyber Monday may have come to an end but don't tell Nintendo, as you can still grab a pretty decent selection of first-party Switch games from Currys for just £36.99, and these include some of the biggest hits for the hybrid console this year.

For instance, the discounts include Metroid Dread, only released in October, the long-awaited sequel to the 2D series and a shoe-in for a number of Game of the Year lists. Heading back earlier this year is my personal game of the year Monster Hunter Rise which manages to excel to new heights from the breakthrough Monster Hunter: World. Sure, it'll also be coming to PC with enhanced features in the new year, but it's definitely worth picking up now at this price.

2 years 4 months ago

Rockstar has delayed the physical release for Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.

As shared by the studio on Twitter (below), Rockstar has announced that is delaying the physical release for Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy to multiple different dates. While that change now means that the game will release on Xbox consoles and PS4 on December 17 (a ten-day delay), it's worse news for Switch fans, where the game now won't be available physically until early 2022.

The delay of the physical versions of the game follows a turbulent digital release for remasters of the iconic trio. Following their release, fans jumping into the three games included in the remastered bundle (GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas) have reported various issues including initial problems with the game launching on PC as well as a torrent of visual bugs and performance issues across a number of platforms.

The game will release in Japan for PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch on April 14, 2022, making the previously-announced spring 2022 release window.

You’ll notice that the PC version is not mentioned, likely implying that it’ll launch alongside the western release, which we know will be handled by NIS America. That being said, NIS has not made an announcement yet, so we’ll have to wait and see.

If you’re not familiar with the game, it’s written by Homura Kawamoto, whom you may know for creating Kakegurui – Compulsive Gambler, and by his younger brother, Hikaru Muno.

Here’s how the developer describes Yurukill: The Calumniation Games.

Nicholas Cage to Star as Dracula in Chris McKay’s Renfield

2 years 4 months ago

Nicholas Cage can add yet another iconic role to his long list of gigs as an actor, as Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that he’ll be playing Dracula in Chris McKay’s upcoming adaptation of Renfield. This marks the actor’s first big studio movie since he starred in Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengence back in 2011.

Cage will play opposite Nicholas Hoult in the film, who plays the titular character, Redfield, who is the infamous henchman of Dracula. McKay will also be producing alongside Robert Kirkman, David Alpert, Bryan Furst, and Sean Furst.

The Redfield character originated back in 1897 in Bram Stoker’s Dracula as a patient in an asylum obsessed with drinking blood. Over the years, his character has evolved considerably, with many different takes on his personality and the relationship between him and his vampiric master.

While we don’t have an exact idea of what the plot will follow for Redfield, you can at least check out a description of the character that is taken straight from Seward’s own journal in the novel, he is described thus:

Today, the publisher has announced that the physical versions of GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition have been pushed back by 10 days across all platforms to Dec. 17. The Nintendo Switch version will launch in 2022.

As you can see, no specific reason was given as to the delay, but it’s fair to say that Rockstar Games has been dealing with sorting a myriad of issues with the digital version since its launch.

If you haven’t yet read the game’s latest patch notes, which fix a huge number of graphical and performance issues, you can read them here.

Solar Ash review - Nothing breaks like a heart

2 years 4 months ago

Late last night I stood in a floating church, looking up through the bones of the shattered ceiling towards the sky, where an island hung above me. The island was facing downwards, so where there should be stars, I saw patchy grass and the tops of noble pines. It was beautiful and teasing and I wondered how to get there.

This is Solar Ash, and Solar Ash is a skating game, really. It's a cosmic skating game with spectacular rinks and it absolutely does not want you to stop moving even for a second. You ghost frictionlessly over the landscape here, a thing of will and direction only. The earth curves away in strange, promising pathways. Connection is forgiving - even grind rails have a sort of mag-lev dreaminess to them, so you can hop on and off without much in the way of fiddliness. The sky is very clear and the ground is often cloud, soft duvet mounds of pearly blue that will hold you up but which, brilliantly, still see you disappearing into the blurred depths for a few early seconds before momentum carries you back to the surface. Dunked in a cloud: not a bad start to the day.
