Halo Infinite Players Are Learning How To Communicate Through Teabag Dancing

2 years 4 months ago

Halo Infinite players are learning how to put aside their differences and communicate in one of the world's most sacred languages - teabag dancing.

In a clip posted by Reddit user Local_Floridian (as spotted on Twitter by Washington Post games reporter Gene Park), the player can be seen trading weapons with an enemy player during a match. While normally we would advise a more cautious approach when fraternizing with the enemy, it seems that this foolhardy soldier was able to communicate through the power of teabag dancing in order to successfully facilitate a weapons trade-off with an opposing Spartan.

After a tense period of repetitive crouching, which somewhat resembled an animal mating ritual you might find in a nature documentary, both players were happy to lay down and exchange their weapons in a short ceasefire period. Though Local_Floridian parted ways with a trusty Battle Rifle, they walked away with a gravity hammer and all parties seemed satisfied.

While non-verbal communication with enemy players in the form of teabag dancing will more often than not cause quite a stir (I'll show myself out), we applaud anyone with the guts to enter into negotiations.

Kingdoms Of Amalur: Re-Reckoning Expansion, Fatesworn, Gets December Release Date

2 years 4 months ago

The new expansion for Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning, Fatesworn, will be released this month.

More specifically, Fatesworn will hit PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on December 14, and it will be available for $19.99. Oddly enough, despite Amalur being available on the Switch, THQ Nordic’s press release about today’s Fatesworn news doesn’t mention the Switch when it comes to platforms for the expansion.

“This year on December 14, the journey of the Fateless One continues,” THQ Nordic’s press release reads. “After the Crystal War has been fought and Gadlow has been defeated, the people of Amalur were hoping for peace to return to their lands. And although peace has indeed come to Amalur, rumors of a new threat are starting to spread, rising in the far west, the icy lands of Mithros. None other than Telogrus, the God of Chaos himself has awoken and is gathering followers to throw the whole world into chaos.”

2 years 4 months ago

Cyberpunk 2077 might not be at the forefront of games news like it was almost a year ago, but it’s still making waves as players await 2022’s next-gen overhaul and expansion content. CDPRgear and Blonie Watches have teamed up to bring a stunning (and very expensive) watch to Cyberpunk fans everywhere. In addition to a bevy of other cutting-edge features that I’ll elaborate on below, the pricey accessory uses blockchain technology to prevent counterfeiting.

Fortnite: Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Teases His Role As The Foundation In New Energy Drink Ad

2 years 4 months ago

Since the reveal of The Foundation, a character critical to Fortnite Chapter 2’s ongoing overarching narrative, fans have speculated on who it might be. The number one theory links The Foundation to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and for good reason – the character’s armor features a design that matches up nicely with Johnson’s tattoos.

We were all but confident that Johnson was The Foundation, but the actor’s new Twitter video today seems to finally confirm the role. Oddly enough, it comes by way of a ZOA energy drink ad in which Johnson is seen talking about ZOA while using words that match up with Fortnite – zero point, higher ground, foundation, and the universe, to name a few.

Rainbow Six Extraction Nomad Trailer Showcases Her Airjab Launchers

2 years 4 months ago

Ubisoft’s newest co-op FPS is launching in just over a month, so they’ve been dropping trailer after trailer to give fans insight into the game’s mechanics, concepts, and Operators. Today’s Rainbow Six Extraction video focuses on Nomad and her gadgets.

Those who have played Rainbow Six Siege will be familiar with Nomad’s Airjab Launchers. These proximity repulsion mines can be fired directly at enemies to blast them with gusts of air and blow them back. The mines can also be placed strategically on surfaces to act as traps for unsuspecting foes.

Today’s Operator showcase is a short one, but it shows exactly how Nomad’s gadgets can, and should, be used when taking on the alien-like Archaens in Rainbow Six Extraction.

You can check out the trailer below for yourself to see Nomad’s Airjab Launchers in action.

Rainbow Six Extraction is launching on Jan. 20, 2022 for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, and Stadia. If you’re looking to put some money down for it early, you can pre-order the game on the official site.

Terminator: Resistance Annihilation Line DLC Revealed in First Trailer

2 years 4 months ago

Reef Entertainment’s Terminator Resistance might not have received the sort of shining critical acclaim that would make it a must-play for all shooter fans, but if you like the Terminator franchise then there aren’t many that feel more authentic in terms of aesthetic and sound design. It’s become something of a fan favorite for that very reason, and today the game’s community has something to celebrate with the release date announcement of its first major DLC, exclusively for PS5 and PC.

It’s called Annihilation Line, and it sees Jacob Rivers, Kyle Reese, and their team attempting to escape a Skynet ambush, and evade a band of machines who are out for their blood – including the terrifying HK Centurion.

Here’s the official overview of Annilhiation Line:

“Annihilation Line” picks up mid-way through the main campaign story. The Resistance has just defeated their first Infiltrator, but for Jacob Rivers, there’s no time to rest up. Orders have come down from John Connor himself that Jacob is to assist in the investigation of Northridge Outpost, a civilian settlement which has mysteriously gone silent.

Kingdoms of Amalur Re-Reckoning: Fatesworn DLC Launching Later This Month

2 years 4 months ago

The announcement of Kingdoms of Amalur Re-Reckoning had fans of the 20012 RPG ecstatic last year, but it was actually the promise of a new, story-driven DLC that was arguably more exciting. Called Fatesworn, it hinted at the expansion of the game’s unique Celtic-inspired lore and narrative, which was interesting in the original game but never quite delivered the depth of rival games, such as Skyrim.

Well, Fatesworn is now set for its anticipated launch later this month, Dec. 14. A new trailer has today unveiled the news in a sequence that tees up “a new thread in the tapestry of fate.”

Not much is known about the story of Fatesword or whether there will be any new mechanics added to the game. The only real firm detail we have is that the DLC will add somewhere in the region of 5 hours of content.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning launched last year for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms. A subsequent patch has added 4K support for newer generation consoles, and the game has also since been made available on Nintendo Switch.

Our very own Ethan Anderson reviewed the title for Twinfinite at launch and awarded the remaster a 3/5, concluding:

Respawn's Vince Zampella Taking On Larger Role In Battlefield Franchise As DICE GM Departs EA

2 years 4 months ago

EA is restructuring as it shifts focus to building out the Battlefield franchise. Following a troubled launch for Battlefield 2042. DICE general manager Oskar Gabrielson is leaving the company at the end of the year to pursue another role outside of EA. In response, Zampella will be adding DICE to his portfolio of EA studios as Group GM, which already includes Ripple and Respawn, GameSpot reports.

Zampella had already been working more closely with DICE since early 2020, when it was announced he'd be the new head of DICE LA with plans to launch an original game. Zampella's duties at Respawn will reportedly continue as normal, focusing on managing Apex Legends and Respawn's unannounced projects, which potentially includes the rumored Jedi: Fallen Order sequel.

Rebecka Coutaz, former managing director of Ubisoft Annecy (developers of STEEP and support for Assassin's Creed and Ghost Recon), will take over as GM of DICE. Battlefield GM Byron Beede will continue to report to Zampella.

Zampella said that EA plans for the number of employees working on the Battlefield franchise to "grow significantly." Meanwhile, Halo designer Marcus Lehto (who joined EA as a game director in October 2021) is working on building a new Seattle-based studio focused on story content for the Battlefield franchise.

Polyarc has announced that Moss: Book 2 will launch in spring 2022.

While a release date has yet to be set, the launch window means we can expect to see Moss: Book 2 arrive on PlayStation sometime in the first half of next year.

The sequel will build on the story explored in the first Moss, with mouse protagonist Quill dealing with a winged tyrant that is hunting her within the hexed castle. New allies, old friends, and the castle itself will provide aid for Quill and players as they combat enemies twisted in fire and steel, and overcome puzzles.

Moss: Book 2 was first revealed at PlayStation's July State of Play, and is the sequel to what is commonly considered one of the best VR games ever made.

The Axis Unseen Announced

2 years 4 months ago

Fourteen-year Bethesda veteran Nate Purkeypile, who worked on Skyrim, Fallout 3, Fallout 4, and was the lead artist on Fallout 76, has announced his own new game called The Axis Unseen. It is a first-person dark-fantasy open-world hunting game, which is probably not a series of words that has ever been strung together to describe any game.

But The Axis Unseen is no joke. As you can see in the reveal trailer above as well as the screenshots below, it's gorgeous. Purkeypile is using Unreal Engine 5 to power The Axis Unseen, and the results are already impressive, visually speaking, even at this early stage of development.

"The Axis Unseen is a heavy metal open-world horror hunting game," Purkeypile told IGN. "Hunt and track monsters in a world trapped outside of time. Upgrade your bow and your senses. Reach shelter before nightfall. [And] don't forget that you are being hunted as well."

The music, Purkeypile told us, is by Clifford Meyer, a veteran of legendary post-metal bands ISIS and Red Sparowes.

Stay tuned for more on Just Purkey Games's The Axis Unseen in the coming year. In the meantime, you can wishlist it on Steam or check it out on the Epic Games Store.

Apex Legends Raiders Collection Event Adds Wattson Heirloom & Winter Express LTM

2 years 4 months ago

The winter season is here, and with it, Apex Legends is starting the Raiders Collection Event, which reintroduces the Winter Express alongside a new Heirloom for Wattson. The event will run from Dec. 7 to Dec. 21, so there are still a few days before it goes live.

First off, the Winter Express LTM is coming back for the holiday season. For those who haven’t played it yet, it tasks players with choosing a loadout and taking control of the train on World’s Edge by staying on it for as long as possible, as multiple squads attempt to do the same.

As with every other Collection Event, there will be a number of cosmetics that you’ll need to collect in order to obtain the Heirloom. This time around, the reward is Wattson’s Energy Reader. And with more Wattson content comes more electricity puns, of course.

The Raiders event will also be bringing a few patch updates and bug fixes to Apex Legends. The patch notes mention Arc Star nerfs, a slight Seer buff, and numerous functional fixes for Wattson’s abilities. You can read them in full right here.

You can check out the action-packed trailer for the Raiders Collection Event below to see a number of the new skins and other cosmetics that’ll be coming to the game.

The Walking Dead: Survivors Gets Its Biggest Update Yet

2 years 4 months ago

The Walking Dead: Survivors, the mobile MMO strategy game based on the beloved comics from Robert Kirkman, has announced Season 2: Queen of the Dead is on its way and it brings with it not only a new enemy in Caroline Harper, story missions, and exciting and dangerous map to explore, but it also looks to add a cross-server feature that will “expand the scope of war.”

The Walking Dead: Survivors’ Season 2: Queen of the Dead will be released on December 3, and it looks to use this new Season’s system to its fullest by letting the team “tell captivating and riveting stories through original characters and dynamic events.” This will hopefully give both veterans and newcomers alike plenty of reasons to jump back in throughout the next few months.

Furthermore, Season 2 will see the breakout of a new war among four regions that are of similar strength and power. Players who have reached level 16 will be able to participate in this battle and fight it out in the brand-new map and cross-server activities.

To celebrate the launch of one of The Walking Dead: Survivors’ biggest update yet, a new TV spot was released and it gives a cinematic tease as to what types of adventures and dangers players will get into during their time in The Walking Dead: Survivors.

The Walking Dead: Survivors is free-to-play and gives fans a chance to play as their favorite characters from the comics, including Rick, Carl, Michonne, Negan, and many more. Many of the comics’ iconic and terrifying locations are also featured, letting you jump from the pages into an expansive game world that is ever expanding with more of what you love from everyone’s favorite walker apocalypse.

Stanley Parable's Ultra Deluxe Edition has been delayed again (again)

2 years 4 months ago

Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe Edition - the spruced up version of the spruced up version of everybody's favourite comedic rumination on video game agency - has, not entirely unexpectedly given where we are in the year, been delayed yet again. However, there's finally light at the end of the long, long tunnel in that it's now expected to arrive "early" in 2022.

Stanley Parable's Ultra Deluxe Edition was first announced back in 2018, with an anticipated launch of 2019. That, obviously, never came to pass, nor did it do so the following year or, as developers Galactic Cafe and Crows Crows Crows have now revealed, will it do so the year after that. "Hopefully when we all reconvene this time next year for our latest Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe Edition update," I wrote after the game's 2020 delay, "it'll be to discuss how awesome this fully released thing is, and not to bow our heads as it's jettisoned into the following year." So, uh, sorry for jinxing it, I guess.
