Bungie Shares Plans To Make Destiny 2 More Epileptic-Friendly

2 years 11 months ago

The gaming space has made major strides in recent years when it comes to accessibility, but there is still more work to be done. This work can be done without negatively impacting the gaming experience, but knowing how to do so is the first step. As someone that experiences seizures following an injury I received back when I was active duty, my entire worldview shifted and suddenly I saw entertainment in a different light. Games, movies, TV? All suddenly had this level of danger I was previously unaware of. You don't even need to have epilepsy to experience a seizure if the trigger is aggressive enough. That's why I was so pleased, so grateful when I saw the latest developer update from Bungie about a game I play religiously: Destiny 2. Following a few epileptic PSAs highlighting what are triggers so that Guardians can avoid them while still playing, the team at Bungie added in a new warning screen at sign-in while also detailing more changes going on behind the scenes to make this space adventure a little safer for all.

In the most recent blog post from Bungie, the studio acknowledged recent reports about Destiny 2 and possible epileptic triggers. In addition to the in-game notice added this week, Bungie also added more details to its EULA (End User License Agreement) and a plan of action for future updates:

2 years 11 months ago

Cloud Imperium Games has released another video of the growing space simulator Star Citizen.

This time around the star of the show is the massive Bengal carrier that was the star of the Invictus Launch week event.

We hear how the team turned what was basically an older prop into a ship capable of flying and fighting in the universe without feeling out of place compared to newer ships.

We also take a look at more of the work being done for the Orison landing zone on Crusader, including the spiffy shuttle that will ferry us around.

Another segment showcases work being done on the interior of the Anvil Redeemer, and on the whitebox phase of the Crusader Ares.

You can watch it below.

In other Star Citizen news, the crowdfunding total has just passed $370 million and it’s currently sitting on almost 371, more precisely on $370,891,249.

This means that the crowdfunding campaign has gathered about $11 million in support from the fans for the development of the game during the Invictus Launch Week event.

Apex Legends Update Re-Enables Arenas Leaver Penalties & Adds Pride Badge for All Players

2 years 11 months ago

Respawn Entertainment took to Twitter earlier today to let Apex Legends players know that a brand new patch has altered some things in the game. Those changes include the following updates:

  • Re-enables leaver penalties for Arenas
  • Fixes some voice chat issues on Switch
  • Grants all players the aforementioned #Pride badge!

It was also detailed that leaver penalties may take up to 24 hours to be fully activated. This news is rather notable, as the feature has actually been disabled for a bit due to the fact that it wasn’t working properly when it was first added in.

The addition of the Pride badge is also noteworthy, as the game will implement this feature for every player, just like they’ve done in the past with the Black Lives Matter and Stop Asian Hate campaigns. Similar to those events, all Apex Legends players have to do to activate it is log on, as it is free for everyone.

An example of the badge can be seen below.

Netflix Needs More Short & Sweet Original Anime Like Eden

2 years 11 months ago

Over the last few years, Netflix has slowly but surely been carving out its own niche for original anime, finding plenty of success with multi-season formatted shows like Castlevania. But while this has most definitely been great, there hasn’t really been a series that has left a lasting impact on me yet, as many suffered from issues like poor pacing and plot stretching. All of that changed with Eden.

As the name suggests, Eden centers around a perfect futuristic world rife with vegetation and life. Pollution and strife are essentially nowhere to be found. The catch is that the sole inhabitants of this world are artificial robots whose human creators vanished long ago.

Despite the lack of a human presence, these robots go about their daily lives as usual, collecting produce and maintaining the many habitats that make up their world. One day though, two of these machines, E92 and A37, stumble on a baby human named Sarah who has been kept alive in a special pod.

From then on out, these two machines evolve and grow alongside the child, with each side learning the ways of the other. Sarah gets these quirky robot tendencies in her verbiage and actions, while the machines around her also try to learn how to manage her human emotions and even understand some of their own.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Update Lets You Upload Save Data in Preparation for PS5 Release

2 years 11 months ago

Final Fantasy VII Remake released early last year to great critical acclaim and while fans continue to wait for the next instalment of the story, Square Enix is releasing a PS5 version of the game in the meantime, which also comes with a new story chapter.

Titled Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, this version will feature Yuffie in a new story chapter, introducing her much earlier than the original game did, where you had to first travel to Wutai. To prepare for Intergrade, the PS4 version of the game got a new update today allowing players to upload their save files.

Once you’ve updated your game, the main menu will feature a new option titled Upload Save File, where you can transfer your data to the cloud. And when you have Intergrade installed, you should be able to download your save data and carry on from there without having to start completely from scratch.

You can only upload one save file at a time with this method, but that shouldn’t take too long.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is set to be released on June 10.

Among Us Teases the Return of Tan as the Next Crewmate Color

2 years 11 months ago

Among Us was one of the biggest indie hits of 2020, especially in an age where everyone’s in lockdown and probably looking for new and simply multiplayer games to play with friends. During the early days of the game, the Tan colored crewmate was teased, but eventually cut from the game as developers InnerSloth ultimately decided on Lime as the 12th and final color.

The developers wanted there to be an even number of colors, and Tan just didn’t make the cut.

However, it looks like we’ll be seeing the return of Tan if the Among Us Twitter account is anything to go by.

InnerSloth states that there’ll be more info and updates to come during this month’s Summer Game Fest on June 10, but for now, it’s safe to assume that Among Us will soon be able to select a new color for their playable crewmate.
