Well... it's now looking like maybe Shakedown Hawaii could be the last game for both the Wii and Wii U.

The time-loop structure is one of my favorite movie tropes—films in which a character is doomed to repeat the same period of hours or days over and over until they figure out how to break themselves out of temporal purgatory. Think Groundhog Day, Netflix’s Russian Doll and the horror film Happy Death Day.
This month,…
Like Cuphead the game, I need to actually see that The Cuphead Show is actually something I can go and watch before I fully believe it’s happening. But what’s also going to be like Cuphead the game now is that any time I see The Cuphead Show in action I’m just going to want more and more of it.
NX on Netflix – which by the way I never heard of, I think it’s their “Geek” section – revealed a behind the scenes look at The Cuphead Show and it includes a few snippets of the show in action.
I love it, I can’t wait. While our reviewer at the time of the game’s release wasn’t a huge fan of the game, I happen to be a huge fan and a big part of the reason I like Cuphead so much is that old-school cartoon aesthetic. A whole show that looks like that and has that devilish humor to it? I’m so in.
And yes, I echo Xbox’s sentiment in their reply.
There’s no word yet on when the show will premiere.
Following the wave of recent accusations of sexual abuse against popular Twitch streamers last weekend, the livestreaming platform has begun banning some of these accounts.
According to a Kotaku report and corroborated by Twitter account StreamerBans, several prominent streamers--including IamSp00n, Wolv21, BlessRNG, DreadedCone, and WarwitchTV--have been banned this week. Each one of these streamers has been accused of sexual abuse and harassment, ranging from sending sexually explicit messages to known minors to physically taking advantage of women at gaming conventions. [Update: In what appears to be an unrelated action, Twitch has seemingly banned DrDisrepect.]
The bans come not long after Twitch issued a statement about plans to thoroughly investigate each allegation. "We are reviewing each case that has come to light as quickly as possible while ensuring appropriate due diligence as we assess these serious allegations," the statement read. "We've prioritized the most severe cases and will begin issuing permanent suspensions in line with our findings immediately."

Too Kyo Games just released the Switch and Mobile versions of Death Come True under the umbrella of Izanagi Games, but they’re already looking ahead.
Today the studio took to Twitter to relay in English a series of posts by Death Come True (and Danganronpa) creator Kazutaka Kodaka.
We hear that the studio sees its current projects as very gameplay oriented but with a lot of text, while still having an ADV soul. They hope fans will enjoy Death Come True, which shows the essence of the studio.
Incidentally, in Japan “ADV” is used to indicate games that would generally be defined as visual novels, including those with investigation or adventure parts like Danganronpa and more.
On top of that, we learn that the studio would like to make a game targeted at core users with no commercial aims, no restrictions on expression, and no publisher.
Basically, it appears that the folks at Too Kyo games, which is formed mostly by Spike Chunsoft veterans and also includes Zero Escape creator Kotaro Uchikoshi, have in their sights the creation of a game that won’t require them to hold back in any way.
You can check the tweets below.
Incidentally, Death Come True will also come for PC and PS4 at a later time.
Well, betcha you didn’t expect to read that headline today any more than I expected to write it. Dark 70s detective RPG Disco Elysium is being spun off into a TV show, assuming that the production company partnering with ZA/UM studio are successful in assembling a team of writers and pitching it. Seriously, who’d have thunk it?
It was a struggle to get a full group together for the original Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles on GameCube, but Square Enix is putting a lot of thoughtful features into the upcoming Remastered Edition that'll make co-op gatherings a cinch on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android.
A free trial version called Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition Lite will let players battle through three dungeons alone or online with other demo users. Better yet, if Lite players team up with someone who owns the full game, they can play 13 dungeons together in their thrifty caravan.
Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition – that is, the full game and the Lite version – will have cross-play support across PS4, Switch, and mobile, so your teammates don't need to be on the same platform as you. Square Enix confirmed that PlayStation Plus and Nintendo Switch Online accounts are necessary for online multiplayer, and Remastered Edition has a save transfer option between platforms, too.
Today's soothingly-narrated trailer is a nice intro to this peculiar Final Fantasy game. I'm surprised by how much effort is going into the remaster all these years later. It shows, and it's appreciated.
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition is launching on August 27, 2020.

GungHo Online Entertainment has announced that its latest free-to-play Nintendo Switch title, Ninjala, has reached over one million downloads on the eShop. And also, to accommodate players for the errors that popped up on launch day, everyone will be rewarded 100 Jala (in-game currency) and some weapon skins.
Ninjala opened up its servers around 7 pm PT on June 24, meaning that all of those downloads happened in less than 24 hours, which is just incredible considering Ninjala is a brand-new IP.
You can see the announcement tweet down below from the official Ninjala account:
One of the biggest sales events of the year for PC gamers is in full swing right now: Steam Summer Sale 2020 kicked off Thursday, June 25, and will run until July 9, offering literally thousands of discounts on some of the platform's best games. It's hard to beat many of those deals right now, and you should definitely check out all of the best Steam games on sale right now, but it's worth keeping in mind that some of these games are cheaper elsewhere. And we're not talking about different launchers like Rockstar, Uplay, or Epic--no, we're talking about officially licensed Steam codes from legit stores like Fanatical and Green Man Gaming. For games like Borderlands 3 or Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, you may actually want to look elsewhere than Steam itself. You'll still even get to add the games to your Steam library but will save money in the process.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's next DLC character, Min Min from Arms, arrives alongside the title's 8.0 update on Monday, June 29, but before then, Nintendo Switch Online subscribers can grab another freebie in the game.
Nintendo is giving away a new Spirit Board Challenge Pack for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Like previous freebies, this pack contains a handful of helpful items for the game's Spirit Board mode. You'll get the following:
To claim the Spirit Board Challenge Pack, go into the Switch Eshop and select the Nintendo Switch Online option on the left sidebar. From there, you'll see the pack listed near the top of the page under exclusive offers. Click on the pack and select Download to claim it.

We're probably on the cusp of one of the leakiest next-gen rumors finally being confirmed. For a long time now, there has been talk that Microsoft's next-gen launch will feature a family of two consoles -- the Xbox Series X that we've known about since December 2019, and a cheaper lesser-powered console that's still unannounced and codenamed Project Lockhart.
Thanks to a new leak from someone with a next-gen developer kit, we have further proof that Lockhart is still on the way. As detailed by The Verge, these kits have distinct profiling modes so that developers can test how their games will perform on the consumer versions of both next-gen devices. The Verge reports that Lockhart will have 7.5GB of available RAM, "a slightly underclocked CPU speed," and approximately 4 teraflops of GPU power; the Xbox Series X will have 13.5GB of available RAM and 12 teraflops of GPU performance.
Here's a tweet that helps corroborate the profile report (Anaconda was the codename of Xbox Series X):

A new gameplay trailer was released by Bandai Namco today for the second game in the The Dark Pictures anthology of games, Little Hope.
The trailer is the first look at Little Hope’s gameplay which should be familiar to anyone that played Man of Medan, or to a lesser extent, Until Dawn.
Players still move along the game, engaging in conversation with other characters and deciding how they want to respond which can improve or worsen their relationship with them, and thus, how the story eventually plays out.
Little Hope, like Man of Medan and Until Dawn, will feature lots of different branching story paths which will effect whether or not characters will live or die.
The Little Hope gameplay shows off its creepy setting which checks off all the horror tropes. Foggy woods? Check. Shadows out of the corner of your eye? Check. Condescending non-believer? Check. Creepy kids, singing creepy songs? Check. Jump scares? Oh definitely check there.
Check out the trailer for yourself below. We don’t know much about the story yet, but it seems to revolve around witchcraft, and may feature some kind of time traveling or ghostly element to it. At least based on the limited public knowledge we’ve seen so far.
Little Hope was recently delayed out of the summer and into fall of this year. Considering it’s creepy woodland setting, fall just seems to fit better anyway.
Square Enix's four-player co-op action/RPG, which originally launched on the Nintendo Gamecube in 2004, is coming to the PlayStation 4, Switch, iOS, and Android, and you'll be able to play with friends online.
The original release required multiple Gameboy Advance consoles and link cables to experiment with co-op, so this is a potentially good chance to go back and play this oddball RPG if you missed it the first time.
Square Enix is even offering a free version of the game that lets players access three dungeons, but those who play with a friend who owns the full game can access up to 13 dungeons.
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition hits on August 27 on all platforms, but Square warns that the release of the mobile versions might get pushed back ... or maybe that was a threat. Be careful out there.
Variety reports that detective RPG Disco Elysium is being adapted into a TV series. It's still very early in the development process, so no writers or actors have been attached to the project.
Although no talent is officially working on the show yet, Helen Hindpere, lead writer for the game from developer ZA/UM said, "We’re so gratified at the response Disco Elysium has received, and very happy to be teaming with dj2 to expand the franchise for other media and new audiences."
Production company dj2 Entertainment is also working on a live-action adaptation of Sleeping Dogs, and CEO and founder Dmitri M. Johnson was co-producer for the Sonic the Hedgehog movie.

The Last of Us Part 2 has officially arrived and it's time we take a good long look at its incredible suite of accessibility features. First off, I'm a deaf gamer with little to no hearing since birth, and I have to rely on visual information like captioning/subtitles to understand what's going on. One thing I want to point out: accessibility works differently for everyone. It's never a one size fit all, and what works for me may not work for others, and what works for them may not work for me. It's important to try to find enough options that can work for everyone, and The Last of Us Part 2 has come as close to this as any AAA game that’s come before.
For reference, you can find a list of The Last of Us 2 Accessibility features here from Playstation.
Before I started exploring Accessibility options, I jumped into Subtitles. I turned on Story & Combat Dialogue subtitles because I hate when someone is talking during the fight and I have no idea what they're saying. Part 2 also lets you change up the subtitle size. Developers often work at their desk on their computer while gamers at home might often play with their screen further away, on screens of various sizes, so it's important to have an option to change the size (small, medium, large), though it would be great to ultimately have a subtitle size slider so that we can find the size just right for us.
After a recent delay to fall 2020, Supermassive has a new seven-minute gameplay video for The Dark Pictures: Little Hope, its latest choice-based horror adventure following Man of Medan and Until Dawn.
Straight up, this isn't the most riveting out-of-context clip, but I appreciate uninterrupted footage after all those trailers. It's just Andrew – a college student played by Will Poulter – wading through fog, inspecting a sketchy stick figure, and coming face to face with a 17th-century blast from the past.
Little Hope has a "creepy thing just out of focus behind the protagonist" moment, one of those "quiet pause turned fake-out jump-scare" tricks, and kids creepily singing nursery rhymes in the distance.
You know I'm here for this horror game junk food. Cutting-edge scares? No. Cheesy fun? Oh yeah.

Resident Evil is one of gaming's seminal franchises that's seen numerous variations over its 24-year history. Resident Evil 6 proved to be a catalyst for that change in that it not only marked the peak of the action-centric gameplay that long-time fans lamented but also pushed Capcom back to its horror roots with the following entry in the series.
Join Andrew Reiner, Ben Reeves, and me as we delve back into the bombastic terror of Resident Evil 6 and examine how it's aged now that the series has gone back to its horror origins.

Warning: Massive spoilers herein, for everything in The Last of Us Part 2. Turn back now.
One of the weirder things about The Last of Us Part 2 is the structure of its story. The game repeatedly breaks up Ellie's revenge-fueled rampage through Seattle with flashbacks revealing details about her relationship with Joel. As Ellie searches for Abby and the rest of her friends in the aftermath of Joel's murder, we learn more and more about Ellie's state of mind--and often have the whole story recontextualized in the middle of playing it.
The Last of Us Part 2 messes with your understanding quite a bit, and not just by shifting perspectives in the middle of the game to expand on the character of Abby, the focus of Ellie's revenge obsession. The developers also hold back critical information that informs Ellie's motivations. Those flashbacks repeatedly change our perception of Ellie by introducing new information, and the game treats them as plot twists that upend our beliefs about her and her quest.
Continue Reading at GameSpotDeveloper Mojang's Diablo-like Minecraft spin-off, Minecraft Dungeons, will be venturing into uncharted territory next week, courtesy of its first DLC expansion, Jungle Awakens.
Mojang announced the DLC back in May, but has now pinned a precise release date on its arrival. It's set to launch on Xbox One, PS4, Switch, and PC, next Wednesday, 1st July.
As it's name suggest, Jungle Awakens packs player off to the distant jungle, where they can explore the new Lost Temple dungeon - ideal for those Indiana Jones types - across three new story missions. There are new mobs (and pandas) to encounter along the way, including the Leapleaf, Jungle Zombie, and Whisperer, as well as new weapons, armour, and artifacts.
