Potential CoD: Warzone Hack Lets Cheaters End Games Instantly

3 years 1 month ago

A new, nasty hack might have been discovered in Call of Duty: Warzone, with cheaters apparently able to end matches instantaneously.

There are two accounts of the hack being used in-game circulating on Twitter, with both showing final killcams that are usually reserved for Modern Warfare's competitive multiplayer mode. In the first clip from streamer Bisag10, it shows how a team fight is prematurely finished and the match ended once a cheater (noticeable by the otherwise illegal in-game name) dies.

In another instance, a player has a match end after encountering another cheater, even though the in-game counter clearly shows over 60 players still alive. In both instances a killcam is displayed before rewarding each player with a victory.

Crysis Remastered PC: DLSS is added - but are the major issues resolved?

3 years 1 month ago

It's been over six months since Crysis Remastered launched on PC and it's fair to say that as a gigantic fan of the original game, I was left disappointed by its re-emergence - while there was much to praise, legacy baggage from the Xbox 360 and PS3 ports effectively saw aspects of the game lacking compared to the 2007 original, while CPU performance was not where it should have been. Today's 2.1 patch is a good jumping on point though: there are genuine improvements, missing content has been restored, and for owners of GeForce RTX cards, the inclusion of DLSS AI upscaling dramatically boosts performance in graphics-limited scenarios.

There's not much to say about the DLSS implementation, except to say that it's just as impressive as other recent outings and a great addition to the game. Once again, elements of the visual presentation are actually improved over native rendering and while there is some TAA-style ghosting, it's hardly noticeable in the thick of the action. What I particularly enjoyed about this particular use of DLSS is that post-process sharpening can be manually tweaked within the command console - access to which I'd dearly like to see as a standard in all DLSS-supported titles. Ultimately, the lower down the RTX power ladder you go, the more impressive the boost given by DLSS, to the point where even in a GPU-heavy scene, the relatively lowly RTX 2060 should be comfortably capable of exceeding 60 frames per second at 1440p resolution. It even makes a reasonably good stab of 4K output too - meaning that higher-end RTX cards should deliver this with minimal issues.

Destiny 2: Season of the Chosen Stasis Changes Detailed With PvP Focus

3 years 1 month ago

Stasis is the latest ability to be added to the world of Destiny 2 with the Beyond Light expansion, and a few more tweaks are on the way as Season of the Chosen continues to chug along. Season 12 began the transformation of this "it's not ice" class, and season 13 will continue on those adjustments to make it more balanced for instances like in PvP.

In the latest This Week at Bungie, the team detailed how they have heard the frustrations about how Stasis interacts with PvP events like Crucible, but the tricky part has been balancing such a powerhouse class in both PvE and PvP equally. To continue on the path of improvement, Bungie has outlined a few shifts in Stasis that will adjust global behavior on particular abilities. With these changes, the team also says that they will be paying special attention to feedback based on what's new to see what's working and what needs more fine-tuning.

Genshin Impact Shares Details About Dating Minigame in Update 1.4

3 years 1 month ago

Genshin Impact’s new update, Invitation of Windblume, is just around the corner, and today developer miHoYo revealed a new mechanic that’ll be introduced moving forward.

Called “Hang out events,” it’s essentially a dating minigame that offers players the chance to take part in story-driven quests with branching dialog options. The idea is to engage a character in conversation according to their likes and dislikes, with different inputs resulting in different endings.

You’ll know you’re doing well by observing a heartbeat monitor, which servers as an indication as to whether you’re date is enjoying your company. Although, to be clear, it seems as though these “hangouts” are more in friendship than they are in romance.

After successfully completing a hangout, you’ll receive Hangout Memories, as well as other rewards.

New Halo Infinite Details Reveal Dynamic Weather, More Engaging Enemy Encounters, And More

3 years 1 month ago

343 Industries just dropped a new video for Zeta Zone that drops a lot of new info and answers from frequently asked questions about Halo Infinite. From more meaningful encounters to dynamic weather, there's a lot to unpack with the latest video, so let's get started!

The world of Halo Infinite is meant to be more immersive than ever before and one of the ways that the team is achieving this is with reactive and dynamic environments. Night and day cycles are not only confirmed but will affect in-game activity. This includes an effect on patrols (the night cycle will have enemies like Grunts sleeping), it will impact combat engagements, cutscenes, and so much more. 343 also added that snowstorms and thunderstorms will also be seen in Infinite, though those additions will be post-launch.

Also confirmed is that Halo Infinite's Zeta Halo ring is completely 3D rendered and offers a slight twist with eclipses seen in-game when the sun passes behind it.

Whoa, seeing all of the Nintendo-published physical Switch games in one image is neat

3 years 1 month ago

So as of...give or take a week and a half or so, the Switch is officially four years old. Which also means that Zelda: Breath of the Wild is four.

It's been a long time coming to see Nintendo at the top of their game again (as I continue to pour out numerous beverages for the Wii U, which never got its due - no, I won't let it go), but this infographic from Redditor GreenDonuts88 (great name) shows us how far they've come.

Note the parameters for this image here. It's "all the Nintendo Switch games with physical releases that were published by Nintendo." It's several qualifiers in one, but it gets the job done and shows you just how far Nintendo has gone to personally ensure the Switch is a hit.

It also really reminded me of the early days of the Switch: the wild wild west where 1-2 Switch was a thing, and we were milking cow udders as a minigame. Also, Arms! The list takes me back in a big way, mostly with positive fuzzy feelings.

I think I own like...95% of this list?

Here's All the Nintendo Switch Games With Physical Releases That Were Published by Nintendo [Reddit]

PS5 Is the Fastest-Selling Console in U.S. History for Dollar Sales

3 years 1 month ago
The PlayStation 5 is the fastest-selling console in U.S. history by dollar sales, but the second best-selling hardware platform in February 2021, with Nintendo Switch continuing to lead the market. The NPD Group released its monthly report covering best-selling consoles, video games, and more for February 2021 in the U.S. and the Nintendo Switch leads the charge as the best-selling console for the month, with the PS5 behind it in second. However, the PS5 did overtake a record previously held by the Switch when it became the fastest-selling console in U.S. history after the NPD Group tracked "total dollar sales after four months in market." [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=the-best-ps5-games&captions=true"] The Switch's unit and dollar sales last month were the highest of any hardware platform in a February since the Nintendo Wii back in February of 2009. Lifetime dollar sales of the Switch passed those of the Nintendo DS last month too, which makes the Switch the second best-selling Nintendo console in U.S. tracked history after the Wii, and the seventh best-selling overall. Elsewhere in video game numbers, consumer spending is up in a big way. "February 2021 consumer spending across video game hardware, content, and accessories reached a February record $4.6 billion, 35% higher when compared to a year ago," the NPD Group's report reads.

Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Becomes First-Person Game With Simple Glitch

3 years 1 month ago

People have been trying to play first-person Zelda games for years, whether it be in a Minecraft mod or The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on Switch. Thanks to a newly discovered glitch, however, they can now do so in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Twitter user Axk_000 discovered the glitch, and it turns out that it's actually not that complicated. It includes pulling out the in-game camera, holding an item from the menu, and then canceling that item hold. After doing so, the game will be in a first-person view. This isn't just Link's character model disappearing, either, as you can see it's in first-person based on how his shadow is positioned in relation to the player's view.

It seems like the technique is fairly consistent, so at least until Nintendo patches it out--if it even decides to--you can probably try it for yourself. It doesn't really add any advantages and actually limits your environmental awareness, which is very important in a game like Breath of the Wild, but it's definitely a neat novelty to try out if you've done everything the game has to offer already.

Now’s the time to get hooked on vegan fish

There is an inherent satisfaction in eating fish, from the subtle fattiness of smoked salmon to the sweet flesh and salty crunch of fried cod to the moist brininess of raw tuna. For vegans who miss fish, or omnivores trying to eat less over health or environmental concerns, or even strict observers of Lent, it’s

Valheim Player Spoofs "Feel Good" Videos With Hilarious "Emotional Greyling Rescue"

3 years 1 month ago

You've seen a billion of these "feel good" stories on Facebook and Tik Tok; now they're invading the world of Vikings. One Valheim player decided to poke fun at the influx of overly dramatized videos with one of his own, and it's kind of too perfect not to share, especially when looking at how he absolutely nailed the format.

"An emotional Greyling Rescue is the feel-good story we all need right now," says u/Henloseraph. I'll be the first one to admit that when I'm doom-scrolling late at night when I should be sleeping, I will stop and watch every single video in this style despite knowing most of them are stupid and complete fluff. When I saw this player edit, I about died laughing. I'm a simple girl: I see something funny, I laugh.

Chibi-classic Powerful Pro Baseball is getting a pint-sized anime show

3 years 1 month ago

Well, here's a weird one to see the week out. Konami has announced that its adorable baseball franchise Powerful Pro Baseball - previously known as Jikkyō Powerful Pro YakyÅ« and Power Pros - is to receive a web-based anime adaptation.

The show, which is currently in development at anime studio CloverWorks, will tell the story of two childhood friends and their efforts to achieve their dream of playing ball at the  Koshien Stadium. The series is expected to run for a mere four episodes at the scant runtime of 10 minutes per episode, as short as its totes-adorbs cast members, I suppose.

You can check out some super-cute concept artworks over at PR Times.

Destiny 2 Trials Of Osiris Returns Tomorrow In Season of the Chosen

3 years 1 month ago

Bungie disabled Trials of Osiris earlier this month in Destiny 2 when it was discovered that players were banding together for "win-trading" in order to score the W. Shortly after, the studio further detailed the removal by stating that there was still more work to be done and that the escalated PvP instance would stay gone indefinitely. It turns out that wait isn't as long as many thought, because Trials of Osiris returns tomorrow for Season of the Chosen.

In the most recent This Week At Bungie post, the studio confirmed the return of Trials, saying "We have resolved an issue that prevented the Trials of Osiris from being active the last two weekends. Trials of Osiris will be re-enabled and active at the daily reset on Friday, March 12."

While the removal of Trials bummed some out, many in the community seemed happy to see this particular part of PvP be out of the game. The problem, mainly, has to do with cheaters, doubly so for those Guardians playing on PC. While some Guardians are annoyed with being paired up against those with hacks, others feel that there hasn't been consistent messaging regarding what Osiris has to offer.

Halo Infinite Won't Have Dual-Wielding or Playable Elites

3 years 1 month ago
Halo Infinite won't feature some of the series' past features, such as dual-wielding or playable Elites, but it will include a very new feature – you can knock enemies off of the edge of the Halo ring itself. Developer 343 Industries held a fan Q&A, in which a number of questions were answered by members of the team. The most unexpected answer definitely came in the form of a response to whether enemies could be knocked off the new Zeta Halo setting. "The answer is yes," replied Troy Mashburn, gameplay director, who went on to offer an anecdote about just that: "I can tell you just recently I was playing in space, and I happened to be driving in with a Scorpion tank. I came around the corner and was face-to-face with a Wraith [tank], and just out of pure luck, pure coincidence, I managed to push the Wraith over the edge and just watched it slowly tilt back and just fall into the abyss, which was amazing, unexpected, and just such a cool moment that happened... So absolutely, you can push things off the edge. It's going to be difficult, but if you manage to time it just right, you're going to see it." As community manager John Junyszek made clear, this is a brand new idea for a Halo game, and feels in-line with its aspirations to be a more sandbox-y, open experience than previous games. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/engineer-explains-how-halo-infinite-is-being-optimized-for-more-devices-beyond-xbox-one-ign-news"] The answers also covered the facts that the game will have a day-night cycle (which affects the enemies you run into), dynamic weather, multiple biomes and sub-biomes, audio logs to discover, and cutscenes will reflect the equipment you're carrying, and the time of day you're in when they begin. However, while Halo Infinite clearly brings a lot of new features, some older ones won't be making a return. Dual-wielding weapons, for instance, has not made it in.

The eternally feel-good Astro's Playroom soundtrack is streaming

3 years 1 month ago

One of the absolute highlights of getting a PlayStation 5 – even now, as more high-profile games are about to roll out – is digging into Astro's Playroom. This has got to be one of the most pleasurable games I've played in recent memory. Everything about it, from the inviting art style to the care-free platforming to the memorable way it feels to physically use the DualSense controller is spot-on.

Astro's Playroom makes me happy, plain and simple. It makes me happy in a way that pretty much only Nintendo can routinely pull off these days. The soundtrack is a big part of the relentlessly feel-good vibe. It's best paired with the cheerful world of Astro, but even without context, it's smile-inducing.

Starting today, Kenneth C. M. Young's high-energy soundtrack for Astro's Playroom can be streamed on Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music, and YouTube Music – and you can buy it from Amazon or Apple.

"CPU Plaza" and all of its variations are going to stick with me for a long, long time. It's the best!
