The Outer Worlds: Murder On Eridanos DLC Is The Perfect Murder Mystery Experience To End The Game

3 years 1 month ago

The beloved Halcyon Helen has been slain! Who could have possibly murdered such a well-loved spokesperson for the delicious line of drinks from Rizzo's? The star of Terror on Monarch?! That's up to you to find out with the second - and final - DLC for The Outer Worlds with Murder on Eridanos.

Earlier this month, we were given the opportunity to play through the latest expansion ahead of its reveal and while it was a drastic pivot from Peril on Gorgon, it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience from start to finish. Even if it did get really, really weird.

Where Peril of Gorgon went super dark thematically, Murder on Eridanos takes an entirely different tone. Harkening back to the morbid humor that the base game offers players, Murder on Eridanos takes players on a wild ride with a pulp noir-inspired murder mystery. Halcyon Helen has been murdered and in an effort to solve this unthinkable crime, we had to travel to the world of Eridanos to meet new faces, undertake new quests, and find all-new ways to be thoroughly creeped out by corporate shenanigans.

Destiny 2 Tweaking Stasis Abilities, Adding Grandmaster Nightfalls With Next Update

3 years 1 month ago

Bungie is making a number of adjustments to Stasis abilities in Destiny 2 with its March 16 update to the game, which should make players in the PvP-focused Crucible very happy (or very angry). A number of Stasis powers are getting nerfed, including the ubiquitous Shatterdive ability and the strength of the Duskfield grenade.

A preview of the changes are outlined in Destiny 2's This Week at Bungie blog post, which outlines how Bungie is adjusting each of the three Stasis subclasses. The Hunter Shatterdive ability is losing its damage resistance, which should help players combat the extremely lethal move. The Warlock Stasis Super's projectiles will now have better tracking, but the explosive power used to shatter Stasis crystals won't deal as much damage. And Titans will no longer freeze nearby PvP opponents when they activate their Super abilities. There are a number of other changes in the blog post--they're all listed below--but they're generally only taking effect in PvP play; Stasis abilities are remaining mostly the same in PvE activities.

Stasis abilities have been dominant in the Crucible since the release of the Beyond Light expansion, much to the chagrin of many Destiny 2 players. There have been a lot of complaints about the new abilities, particularly Shatterdive, which allows Hunters to leap into the air and slam down, shattering nearby Stasis crystals. Those crystals are extremely deadly when they explode, and Shatterdive provided Hunters with a bunch of damage resistance when executing the move, making them nearly unkillable--and pushing players to center all their play around the ability.

Four Things We Want From Call Of Duty: Warzone In Year Two

3 years 1 month ago

They say if you come at the king, you best not miss, and while battle royale juggernauts like Fortnite are still alive and well in 2021, Call of Duty: Warzone became one of the biggest games on the planet in its first year of release. With 85 million active players and hundreds of thousands of concurrent Twitch viewers, Activision’s free-to-play battle royale found incredible amounts of success in 2020. Whether it’s your parent’s title of choice to conflate with other shooters or your favorite streamer’s top game, the Activision franchise is always at the top of the sales charts and controls the gaming zeitgeist as few can. But as all of gaming’s greats know, it’s not enough to rest on your laurels. A game series has to continue to iterate in order to stay on the top of the sales charts. Here are four ways COD Warzone can iterate on its success and continue its dominance in year two.

Joe Biden Replaces Donald Trump in Microsoft Flight Simulator Washington Add-On

3 years 1 month ago

Some Microsoft Flight Simulator third-party add-on developer like to go very deep into the rabbit hole of details when creating their scenery, and Drzewiecki Design is certainly one of them.

When the developer released its Washington add-on, it included a fully modeled Oval Office at the White House, and inside you can find former President of the United States Donald Trump, former vice President Michael Pence, and First Lady Melania Trump.

Today, that scenery add-on has been updated, and alongside new monuments like the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial, and the D.C. War Memorial, the inhabitants of the White House have changed.

While most won’t see them during normal operations, if you manage the challenging feat of landing a light plane on the White House’s lawn (I guarantee it can be done. Just check out the video) and peek into the Oval Office, you’ll notice that President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and First Lady Jill Biden have all gotten used to their new accommodations.

Of course, you can simply take the easy way out and use the drone camera to take a look. It’s a lot easier than landing on the lawn while clipping tree branches and dodging Marine One.

You can see what the Oval Office looks like now, and what it used to look like in the gallery and video below.

Am I the only one who thinks they missed a chance to add a certain meme representation of Bernie?

"Enkindle This" With Mass Effect Blasto Plush, Equipped With Itty Bitty Carnifex Pistols

3 years 1 month ago

With the Mass Effect Legendary Edition on the horizon, I finally have the excuse to talk about one of my favorite franchises as much as I want. Because of that, I have no shame in sharing the latest plush available from Gaming Heads, a plush that will have Mass Effect fans cutely yelling "Enkindle this!"

Blasto, in the world of Mass Effect, is a fictional character that is in a plethora of in-game films throughout the franchise. Blasto was also the "first Hanar Spectre" and played a hilarious role in the third game's Citadel DLC. Is he the universe's best actor? Nah, not even close, but gosh darnit he is the best in our hearts.

Now you can cuddle with the action hero to your heart's content, because Gaming Heads is offering an adorable Blasto plush. Even better? He's got the cutest wittle, itty bitty carnifex pistols in his posable tentacles. What more could you want?

Don't answer that...

You can see this cute little Mass Effect collectible in action with the video below:

Click here to watch embedded media

This huggable little Blasto is available now and comes in at 12 inches tall, 10 inches long, and weighs only half a pound! The weight of stardom is a lot, but not enough to hit a one-pounder.

Skater XL Iconic Embarcadero Plaza Level Available Now

3 years 1 month ago

A level based on the Embarcadero Plaza location in San Francisco, California is now available in Skater XL.

For those maybe unaware of its skateboarding affiliation, according to Wikipedia “during the early 1990’s, the plaza was better known as EMB, one of the world’s premier street skateboarding sites.”

The post on the PlayStation Blog has their own tidbit to say about this location:

When it comes to landmarks in skateboard history, you’d be hard pressed to find more hallowed ground than San Francisco’s Embarcadero Plaza during the 1990’s era. Everyday, SF locals and skaters from across the globe would come to EMB to write new pages in the book of skate history daily on the red bricks, stairs, blocks, ledges to the infamous ‘Gonz’ Gap.

The level includes and highlights all the unique features Embarcadero Plaza has to offer such as:

Borderlands 3 Director's Cut Delayed To April 8 Due To Texas Storm

3 years 1 month ago

Borderlands 3's Director's Cut DLC has been delayed to April due to complications from the recent severe weather and power outages in Texas. Gearbox issued a statement saying that the conditions "unavoidably disrupted" its work, forcing it to push back the add-on by a few weeks. The new release date is April 8.

The Director's Cut had been set for March 18, a date that was set in early February. But a severe winter storm hit Texas and surrounding regions on February 13, causing widespread blackouts and other infrastructure problems. Many Texans had no heat and frozen pipes for several days, and the death toll reached 70 in the United States.

Thankfully, Gearbox says, its employees are all safe. But the studio, based near Dallas, TX, was impacted by the storm regardless. It says it has now shifted the Director's Cut date to "deliver the best possible experience."

The Director's Cut update will include a series of new story missions, behind-the-scenes content like bloopers and bonus footage, and a full-fledged Raid boss called Hemovorous the Invincible. It will cost 500 Eridium to unlock the door and take on the raid.

The Outer Worlds' Murder on Eridanos DLC arrives next week

3 years 1 month ago

Obsidian has confirmed that Murder on Eridanos, sci-fi adventure The Outer Worlds' second expansion, will be making its way to PC, Xbox, and PlayStation next Wednesday, 17th March.

Murder on Eridanos, which follows on from last year's Peril on Gorgon expansion, sets players the task of uncovering renowned actress Halcyon Helen's killer, an investigation that takes them all across a luxury resort of drifting islands caught in a perpetual storm.

There are clues to find using the new Discrepancy Amplifier tool, alibis to scrutinise, and witnesses to interrogate - including some of the planet's biggest stars - and Obsidian maintains The Outer Worlds' choice-driven action by giving players a broad range of options when it comes to identifying the culprit.

The Coolest Pokémon Sword & Shield – Battle Styles Cards We Pulled From Booster Packs

3 years 1 month ago

The newest Pokémon Trading Card Game expansion pulls direct influence from the 2020 Pokémon Sword & Shield expansion, The Isle of Armor. Focusing in on the fact that Kubfu, the Legendary Pokémon introduced in that expansion, can evolve into one of two different forms of Urshifu depending on how it's trained, the new Battle Styles expansion introduces Single Strike and Rapid Strike variants on both Urshifu, as well as other established Pokémon from the series.

This new expansion adds more than 160 new cards to the always-growing Pokémon Trading Card Game, including 12 Pokémon V and six Pokémon VMAX. As mentioned before, you can expect Single Strike variants for Pokémon like Emboar and Primeape and Rapid Strike versions of Pokémon like Mienfoo and Octillery. These versions grant added abilities that play into the Isle of Armor expansion, where Single Strike is about delivering one powerful attack, while Rapid Strike is about speed and hitting enemy weaknesses. We were sent a bunch of booster packs by The Pokémon Company to see which new cards we could pull.

You can see a gallery of the coolest and best cards we pulled from the new Pokémon Sword & Shield – Battle Styles expansion below.

Borderlands 3 Director’s Cut DLC Delayed Due to Texas Weather Issues

3 years 1 month ago

In today’s patch notes for Borderlands 3, Gearbox announced that the Borderlands 3 Director’s Cut DLC previously slated for March 18 will now be arriving April 8.

They developer directly attributed this delay to the extreme weather conditions and power problems that plagued the state of Texas last month saying:

Due to challenges arising from the severe weather that impacted Texas last month, the Director’s Cut add-on will now launch on April 8. Thankfully, all of our team members and their families are safe and healthy, but our work on Director’s Cut was unavoidably disrupted and we’ve ultimately decided to shift the release date to ensure we deliver the best possible experience. We appreciate your understanding, and we’re excited for you to play Director’s Cut when it releases next month.

The main office of Gearbox Software is located in Frisco, Texas.

On the patch notes side of the posting, though, there is good news. A large handful of weapons (you might have at one point gotten your hands on) are getting damage buffs to increase their usefulness to anyone who happens across them:

  • Webslinger
  • Devoted
  • Roisen’s Thorns
  • Magnificent
  • Mother Too
  • Smart Gun XXL
  • Ten Gallon

With a now four week wait for the Director’s Cut DLC to arrive, there is certainly plenty of time to loot up better weaponry in the meantime.

Borderlands 3 is available on PC, PlayStation 4/5, and Xbox One/SeriesX/S. Any PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players can expect a free upgrade to the next-gen versions of Borderlands 3.

CoD YouTuber Drif0r Says Swatting Experience Almost Killed Him

3 years 1 month ago

Call of Duty content creator Brad "Drif0r" Overbey uploaded a brand-new video to his YouTube channel talking about how he "almost died" when people swatted his home.

About halfway through a video titled "Low Testosterone almost killed me," Drift0r mentioned how 2019 and 2020's swattings contributed to his ongoing battle with low testosterone. He said he "almost died four or five times" as armed people approached his Texas home.

"I got swatted a couple of times last year," Drift0r starts at about the 12-minute mark. "There was an ongoing issue with harrassment. Another creator streamed one of his fans coming to my house with a ski mask and a gun in what I personally assumed was going to be an armed home invasion. Police took care of that in my front lawn, thankfully. And just a whole ton of crazy, bizarre stuff. I almost died four of five times. There were other people that were armed."
