PlayStation Direct Leaks The Last of Us Part 1 PS5 ellie

Sony leaked one of its own major announcements. Its PlayStation Direct site revealed The Last of Us Part 1 for the PlayStation 5 and PC. The storefront only featured a product page for the PS5 version of the game, which will be out on September 2, 2022. A trailer, which is still available online at the time of writing, mentions a PC version is “also in development.” [Thanks, Modiz at Resetera!]

The trailer begins by showing the world while Joel talks about Ellie. It then shows snippets of gameplay and cutscenes. It notes that Naughty Dog rebuilt The Last of Us Part 1 for the PS5.

The leaked PlayStation Direct product page also showed the box art for the base game and a Firefly Edition. The Firefly Edition will be a PlayStation Direct exclusive version. Its description noted people get the base game and Left Behind prequel in a SteelBook case. (People will apparently get Left Behind with the standard version of the game as well.) There are also reprints of The Last of Us: American Dreams prequel comic starring Ellie and Riley.

All Changes in The Last of Us (TLOU) Part 1 on PS5

1 year 11 months ago

Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us was a huge hit back when it was released in 2013, and it quickly got a Remastered version for the PS4 the following year. And now, it’s getting re-released yet again for the PS5 and PC with some nice upgrades. Here’s a breakdown of all the changes in The Last of Us Part 1 on PS5 that we know about so far.

The Last of Us (TLOU) Part 1 PS5 Changes

At the time of writing, the PS5 remaster of The Last of Us has just been announced, so details on all the upgrades and changes are a little scant. That said, here are all of the changes that Sony and Naughty Dog have revealed so far:

  • Name change: The Last of Us Part I, instead of just, The Last of Us
  • Modernized gameplay
  • Improved controls
  • Expanded accessibility options
  • Improved effects
  • Enhanced exploration and combat

This might all sound like the usual PR fluff, but we can probably assume that The Last of Us Part 1 will likely play a lot similarly to The Last of Us Part 2, which had much better stealth and combat controls. In addition to that, while we likely won’t see a huge graphical leap, players can expect to enjoy better-looking environments and more details and effects in the surroundings.

This release will include the base game, as well as the Left Behind DLC centering around Ellie and Riley.

Among Us VR Gets Hilarious Gameplay Trailer, Release Period Confirmed

1 year 11 months ago

Among Us VR Trailer

Among Us VR was announced last December during the Game Awards. We got a very brief glimpse of the playable space map, The Skeld, and that’s about it. Today, during the Upload VR showcase at Summer Game Fest, a hilarious gameplay trailer premiered and revealed the release period for Innersloth’s popular party game. You can watch the footage below.

In the trailer, crewmates discuss the imposter’s identity in the Cafeteria, using their hands to emote in increasingly ridiculous ways. Like in the original game, players run around the various facilities of the arena, completing small minigames to repair or organize the scattered points of interest. The change to 3D suits the loop well and adds to the tension; there will probably be plenty of jumpscares to go around.

Like many of you, we loved the original game, scoring it an 8.5 out of 10:

“Among Us released over two years ago, but the jellybean/astronaut online game is currently seeing a massive surge in popularity that began in early September. The world may have started out quarantine by playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons, a wholesome game about friendship and taking care of our islands, but after many months of pandemic life, we’re hungry for the void of space filled with chaos and deceit.”

Tile Cities is a time devouring mini-gem from the Ostriv dev

1 year 11 months ago

Detailed-yet-relaxing village builder Ostriv isn't far off one of my favourite games. Entirely unrelatedly, I had Tile Cities installed for about a month before finding time to play it.

Except, it's not unrelated at all. It's the game that Ostriv developer Yevheniy made while suffering through the invasion of Ukraine, "to switch my mind from death and destruction towards peace and creativity". I'd be recommending it for sure even if I hadn't found that out, because it's a terrific little game that's far more engaging than it looks.

The Last of Us Remake Leaks: Arriving in September for PS5, PC Version on the Way

1 year 11 months ago

The long-rumored remake of The Last of Us has been leaked – and it's now officially referred to as The Last of Us Part 1. It will be released for PS5 on September 2, and a PC version is in development.

Seemingly unwittingly revealed by Sony's own PlayStation Direct site, the listing was picked up by ResetEra user modiz. While the listing itself has been removed, at time of writing a trailer is still available to view. The remake will include upgraded versions of the base game, and its DLC prequel, Left Behind. No mention is made of the Factions multiplayer mode.

The listing calls the remake "a total overhaul of the original experience, faithfully reproduced but incorporating modernized gameplay, improved controls and expanded accessibility options. Plus, feel immersed with improved effects and enhanced exploration and combat."

The Last Of Us Part 1 Remake Revealed Trailer

The heavily rumored remake of The Last Of Us has seemingly leaked online, and it hits PlayStation 5 on Sept. 2.

This news comes from Wario64 on Twitter, who seemingly spotted a link to PlayStation Direct that houses pre-orders for the game, which is now called The Last Of Us Part 1, and its reveal trailer. As you might expect, it looks gorgeous. The remake will also include the entire game and the Left Behind DLC. Plus, it's also in development for PC, but it doesn't seem like the PC release will be happening simultaneously with the PS5 release.

You can check out the trailer for yourself below

The pre-order page reveals the standard PS5 edition will cost $69.99, while the special Firefly Edition will cost $99.99. It's unclear what the Firefly Edition will contain, as the page linked to it in Wario64's tweet no longer takes you to The Last Of Us Part 1.

Here's a blurb of the game Wario64 caught on the listing:

Upload VR Showcase June 2022: Everything Announced, Including More Among US VR Gameplay

1 year 11 months ago

Moss: Book 2 officially has a release date on Meta Quest 2; the creators of What the Golf are now embracing bats, and we now have a much clearer understanding of Among Us VR. All of this news was revealed in today’s Upload VR showcase, which included multiple announcements for the Meta Quest 2 and other major VR headsets.

Check out our full list of everything announced during Upload VR’s event, which includes everything mentioned above, as well as plenty more updates and reveals:

Among Us VR Reveals How It’s Practically a Sequel to the 2020 Megahit

A brand-new trailer showcased Among Us VR’s gameplay, revealing an experience that feels in many ways wildly different from the game that became a megahit in 2020. The stealth, backstabbing, and outright lying are all still there, but negotiations are much more than a text box — now you’re actually at the table. The VR changes basically everything, from the basic tasks to the jolt of fear when you turn and find another crewmember just… staring at you. It remains to be seen if these updates will actually work well in the final version, but at first blush, Among Us VR feels almost like a full-blown sequel. It’s currently scheduled for a release in Holiday 2022 on Meta Quest and PC VR devices.

How to Dance at Different Crashed IO Airships in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3

1 year 11 months ago

Even though Fortnite’s Chapter 3 Season 2 is over, there are still vestiges of it all over the map. You can also see remnants of the massive robot battle that took place during the Collision event. You’ll have to hunt these down as we deal with how to dance at different crashed IO airships in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3.

How to Dance at Different Crashed Airships in Fortnite

You’ll find this challenge in the new Weekly tab that appears to be a replacement for the previous Season label. You have to land and dance at three different crashed IO airships, but there are five still around the map. Their locations seem to be split between those that went down in Chapter 3 Season 2 and those that were wiped out during the Collision event.

Here is the map of those locations, but we will take you closer to all of them so you know what you are looking for in-game.

Elden Ring playable Game Boy demake now live

A couple of months back, reddit user Shin was beavering away at an Elden Ring Game Boy remake.

And now it's out! Available to play on itch.io, the game offers a miniature green-tinged version of the Lands Between - or at least, the Precipice of Anticipation, Northern Limgrave, and Stormveil Castle - presented in a Zelda-inspired top-down fashion.

The game runs in-browser, but Shin recommends using real Game Boy hardware or an Analogue Pocket for saving, better colours, and higher accuracy.

Metal Max Wild West Canceled

1 year 11 months ago

Metal Max Wild West

Metal Max Wild West, a new entry in the long-running Metal Max franchise, is canceled. In an announcement posted to the official Metal Max Xeno social media accounts, Kadokawa Games informed its audience that development of the game, scheduled for release in 2022, has been discontinued. Kadokawa also apologized to fans looking forward to the game and partners potentially affected by the cancelation.

No specific reason for the cancelation was given, but the full statement mentioned Kadokawa's consideration of the "current state of development" for the game as a factor in the decision.

https://twitter.com/metalmaxxeno/status/1534853756919361538

Metal Max Wild West was originally announced in 2019 as Metal Max Xeno Reborn 2. According to a 30th Anniversary stream event from 2021, the game would take place after the events of Xeno Reborn and involve a new protagonist restoring a post-apocalyptic city to life. It was themed around the concept of rebuilding, though it would still center around the vehicle-based combat of the series proper (and Xeno in particular).

Moss: Book II Gets A Release Date For Meta Quest 2

1 year 11 months ago

Polyarc has revealed that Moss: Book II is headed to Meta Quest 2 on July 21, marking the first time that the game has jumped to another platform since its initial launch on PlayStation VR earlier this year.

Moss: Book II picks up shortly after the ending of the original game, but the sequel leans much more heavily into its narrative, while also providing new weapons, locations, and creative puzzles to solve. Players once again take on dual roles by directly controlling tiny mouse protagonist Quill while also interacting with the world to solve environmental puzzles from afar as the all-seeing Reader.

Though the overall experience will remain intact in its move to Quest 2, Moss: Book II will feature some visual and interaction changes, such as taking advantage of the headset's unique two-controller design, which Polyarc states will allow "players to express themselves more freely in the world."

"For this release, we didn't just want to get Book II running on Quest 2 and call it a day, so we took our time diligently balancing all aspects of the game, across graphics and gameplay, with the end goal being a truly memorable experience,” said Polyarc technical artist Tyler Walters. “Throughout this process, we were regularly excited by the level of fidelity we were able to achieve on Quest 2, often finding ways to make the game look and play better than ever."

The Electronic Wireless Show episode 190: the best games that should be toys special

1 year 11 months ago

Despite Matthew almost wilfully misunderstanding the topic for this week's Electronic Wireless Show podcast, we manage to settle down and talk about the games we'd most like to have toy sets of. What game d'you think would be the best Lego set? Action figures? Obscure 80s and 90s toy? Oh, we have fun on this show.

Diversions this week are predictably about toys we had as kid, including a very long sidebar about Mighty Max, and Matthew's reverse-engineered Boglin hatred derived from his sad childhood. We also have some obligatory Platty Joobs round-up chat, and there's an unintentionally difficult Cavern Of Lies this week, themed around Funko Pop, because any made up Funko Pop is indistinguishable from a real Funko Pop.

Best Xbox Headsets to Buy in 2022

1 year 11 months ago

A good headset can make the world of difference to your gaming setup. Not only does it mean you can play late into the night with the volume cranked up without having to worry about keeping your family or neighbors up but get a good one, and the sound quality can be immensely better than that directly from your TV. Here, we’re going to run you through our picks of the best Xbox headsets in 2022 to make sure you make the perfect purchase for yourself.

To help determine our picks, we’ve looked at a few factors here. First up is sound performance to make sure the quality is what you’d expect for the price tag to ensure you’re fully immersed once the cups close around your ears.

Next up we’ve focused on comfortable headsets. Ones that you can keep on your head for hours at a time to ensure your playtime is just as comfy as it is enjoyable. Nobody wants earache midway through an hours-long CoD session now, do they?

Finally, we’ve considered things like battery life (for wireless headsets) and ease of use. A headset is no good if it’s a pain to get connected every time you turn it on or leaves your living room floor looking like a miniature spaghetti junction!

So, without further ado, here are our picks for the best Xbox headsets in 2022.

Microsoft Reveals ‘Curated Demos’ Program For Game Pass Members, New Xbox Design Lab Colors

1 year 11 months ago

Xbox Design Lab New Colors Game Trials Demos

Microsoft revealed today that a new Xbox app for 2022 Samsung Smart TVs will let Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers stream their games. However, that’s not all the company had to reveal today.

In a new Xbox Wire blog post, Microsoft discusses Project Moorcroft, which is seemingly its take on the PlayStation Plus Game Trials system launching with the revamped service on June 13. According to the blog post, the program will bring “the fun and discovery of playing new, curated demos of upcoming games to our Xbox Game Pass members,” and it will begin rolling out next year. It will start with “a focus on providing independent developers from around the world more opportunities to build excitement for their games.”

Xbox says participating developers will be able to see how their demos perform, and the company will compensate them too, “enabling them to bring their creativity to Xbox and reach new audiences with Game Pass.” Xbox also says that later this year, “it’s our intent to roll out the ability for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members to play, from the cloud, select games they already own or have purchased outside the Xbox Game Pass library.”

Listen to the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Song ‘A Life Sent on’

Listen to the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Song A Life Sent On

Nintendo offered a chance to hear a song off of the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 soundtrack. It took to Twitter to share “A Life Sent On.” It also noted that this is a song Noah and Mio would “perform” in-battle. There’s no in-game footage accompanying it. Rather, there’s the image of the Uraya titan and Mechonis in the background instead.

Here is the song taken from the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 soundtrack.

For reference, both Noah and Mio are off-seers. This means they are part of the respective nations’ armies and fill a certain role. When people die on the battlefield, they play music for them on flutes. Noah does so for Keves, while Mio is an off-seer for Agnus.

Nintendo also offered a closer look at the game in June 2022. It shared a new trailer looking at Aionios and the monsters living there.
