Goat Simulator 3 Gets a Chaotic Reveal Trailer at Summer Game Fest

1 year 11 months ago

An announcement trailer for the chaotic Goat Simulator 3 was just debuted at Summer Game Fest.

Developer Coffee Stain Studios showed off the wild new trailer for the next instalment in the janky physics-based franchise, and you can see it for yourself below:

The trailer announcing the sequel continued the joke of its predecessor, which parodied the Dead Island trailer. Goat Simulator 3’s trailer riffed on the Dead Island 2 trailer from eight years ago, which has still yet to be released.

You can read a brief description of the game below:

Pilgor’s baaack! Gather your herd and venture forth into Goat Simulator 3; an all-new, totally realistic, sandbox farmyard experience. Invite up to three friends in local or online co-op, create carnage as a team, or compete in mini-games and then not be friends anymore. Coming to PC in the Fall.

While the game classes itself as a ‘simulator,’ the game is anything but. The janky physics-based gameplay is all about doing completely outrageous things, like summoning the devil, or literally destroying an entire town.

Goat Simulator 3 is coming to PC in Fall this year, exclusively to the Epic Games Store.

Our Summer Game Fest coverage is ongoing, be sure to keep checking the Twinfinite home page for all the latest news from the event!

New Honkai: Star Rail Trailer Feature Kafka Talking to the Trailblazer

A new Honkai: Star Rail trailer appeared at Summer Game Fest 2022, and this time Kafka narrated it. She is one of the mysterious characters affiliated with the Trailblazer, the player's avatar, in the game. She delivers a speech that happens when the player first meets her in-game.

The video begins with Kafka talking to the player about what they can expect. She mentions the people they'll meet, who will become like family, and the places they'll go. She also mentions, “As long as you know in your heart where you’re heading, you will arrive at the end of the story.” She then shoves the Stellaron, an item capable of bestowing power, into the avatar and says, “That’s the you that I like.” It ends with a look at Jing Yuan, a The Erudition path character who uses the lightning element. He’s also a Xianzhou Alliance general.

1 year 11 months ago

The creepy first-person shooter, Routine has made a comeback at Summer Game Fest, after being MIA for quite some time.

After its initial announcement in 2012, Routine received some development updates, but got delayed multiple times, and here we are ten years after with the Summer Game Fest trailer, which you can check out below.

Honkai: Star Rail’s New Trailer Gives Us a Closer Look at its Story & Characters

1 year 11 months ago

miHoYo came in hot during this year’s Summer Games Fest, and we got even more info about their upcoming turn-based RPG, Honkai: Star Rail. So far, our impressions from the closed beta have been pretty positive, and the game continues to look very promising especially from what we saw at the event. We got a new trailer at Summer Game Fest 2022, showing off some more of the story and its various key characters. You can check out the new trailer down below:

We got to chat with miHoYo last month, and the developers provided a bit more insight into the game’s development process, as well as the larger focus on character interactions and player decisions. Metal: Hellsinger Demo Available Now

1 year 11 months ago

Metal Hellsinger

Metal: Hellsigner made an appearance today during Summer Game Fest and a demo is available now. While the trailer didn't really show anything new, it still looks neat! You should check it out, if only because it's a fun concept.

The big draw is its rhythm-based gameplay. While rhythm games are a dime a dozen, Hellsinger sets itself apart by being a first-person shooter, where, as you may have guessed, action has to be performed on the beat. Shooting, dodging, reloading, and so on need to be performed in time with the game's soundtrack for maximum points.

Check out the new trailer below:

Speaking of the soundtrack, Hellsinger features System of a Down's Serj Tankian, Trivium's Matt Heafy, Lamb of God's Randy Blythe, and more. Check out our in-depth interview with Tankian to hear more about his contributions to the game.

A demo for Metal: Hellsigner is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam.

Something terrible happening to men in space yet again in horror adventure Fort Solis

1 year 11 months ago

In a very short and technically not at all sweet teaser trailer at the Summer Game Fest this year, we saw that terrible things are afoot in isolated space station Fort Solis. Honestly, why does anyone bother building isolated space stations? It's like getting married at Christmas in Albert Square at this point. Geoff was joined on stage by Roger Clark (who you will know from being Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption) and Troy Baker (who you will know from, I dunno, throw a dart, you'll hit one) to briefly talk more about their characters and what the hap is heckening in this horror adventure game.

It's also getting another major patch in the form of the "Bolivar Patch", that's focused on community features. But first, the DLC. This will explore the heritage of Latin America, letting players progress from the ancient era Caralans through to the Nazca, Taíno, Inca and contemporary Argentinians and Cubans. You needn't wait to dig in, either, as the Latin America pack is out right now on Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Marvel Midnight Suns to Release in October

Marvel Midnight Suns Release

Marvel Midnight Suns has received a new release date, which will see the game arrive on October 7, 2022. The information about the new release date appeared during the Summer Game Fest 2022 stream. It included a new trailer, which revealed demonic versions of popular Marvel characters like The Hulk. Additionally, the Defender Doctor Strange skin has been revealed as a pre-order bonus.

You can watch the Marvel Midnight Suns Summer Game Fest trailer below.

[embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gj_nOPvjAtI[/embed]

Originally scheduled to release in March 2022, announcement of a delay appeared in November 2021. This revealed the game would release sometime in the second half of 2022. The delay was made to improve the story, cinematics, and overall quality of the game.

Marvel Midnight Suns will feature a handful of well-established characters from the Marvel universe. This includes Venom, Spider-Man, Wolverine, and Blade. In the trailer, characters like Scarlet Witch and Venom are seen under the control of the antagonist, a new character made for the game.

It will also feature a new character in the Marvel universe, unique to the title. Additionally, players will be able to customize this character, and gain access to unique powers.

Marvel Midnight Suns will release for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC on October 7, 2022. There's no Nintendo Switch release date yet.

How Firaxis made Marvel and XCOM mesh for Midnight Suns

1 year 11 months ago

The prospect of the celebrated XCOM team, Firaxis, making a Marvel-themed superhero strategy game is mouthwatering. Pairing a team of that talent with a licence of that appeal is inspired. All you have to do is substitute in superheroes, don't you?

But what if it's not so simple working with Marvel? That is a world-conquering entertainment brand that would have every right to be precious about its heroes and intellectual property. And what if the XCOM formula didn't actually work very well with superheroes? Which self-respecting superhero would take cover in a battle, after all?

These are some of the many things Firaxis creative director Jake Solomon talks to Ian Higton about, as he details, openly and generously, the process of making Marvel's Midnight Suns. The game will be released 7th October on PlayStation and Xbox consoles, and PC. A Nintendo Switch version will be available at an unspecified later date.

Stormgate Cinematic Trailer Offers Hint at Mech Versus Monsters Combat

1 year 11 months ago

Announced at Summer Game Fest 2022 is Stormgate, an RTS (real-time strategy) that will be releasing as a beta sometime in 2023. There wasn’t any gameplay shown off outside of a couple screenshots after the trailer, so there’s not too much to share. It was mentioned to be free-to-play, however. It was promised that there won’t be any pay-to-win or NFTs dragging it down, either.

Stormgate’s developer, Frost Giant Studios, is made up of Warcraft and StarCraft veterans.

You can watch the Stormgate trailer for yourself below:

As we can see from the trailer, a mech suit comes to the rescue of the first character shown, giving the hint that most of the friendly forces will be in mech suits.

While this isn’t the first ever RTS to use mech suits for combat, the lineage of the veteran team members making up the studio certainly make Stormgate one to keep an eye on.

At this time, all that is known about platforms is that Stormgate will be on PC.

How Marvel's Midnight Suns lost the race with the MCU, but came out all the better for it

1 year 11 months ago

Chance has always been an integral part of Firaxis’ turn-based tactics games. Just ask the many thousands of players who missed a shot with a 90% success chance in one of their XCOM reboots. Marvel’s Midnight Suns, however, could be the Civilization studio’s biggest gamble yet. Not only is it their first game to mix substantial RPG elements into its tactical combat, but there’s nary a hit percentage in sight. In the four hours I spent playing the opening of Midnight Suns last week, I saw precisely one scenario that had any kind of per cent number attached to it – and that was booting a goon (100%) or Venom, one of the newly confirmed villains of the game (0%), off a rooftop. All your other attacks, represented here as a deck of cards, are guaranteed hits.

It’s a strategic evolution I’ll talk about in a second, but this switch-up in approach isn’t the only part of Midnight Suns story that’s been subject to the whims of (mis)fortune. No sooner had Firaxis announced the game it was delayed in the snap of Thanos' fingers (from March to the second half of 2022, now confirmed as October 7th at tonight’s Summer Game Fest). But speaking to creative director Jake Solomon, the extra polishing time they set aside gave them an unexpected benefit. And it’s all down to a fish witch called Wanda.

Goat Simulator 3 Officially Announced, Skips Goat Simulator 2

1 year 11 months ago

Coffee Stain Studios is skipping straight to Goat Simulator 3.

As announced at the Summer Game Fest, Coffee Stain Studios is following up their viral hit Goat Simulator with, not Goat Simulator 2, but Goat Simulator 3.

Just as the first Goat Simulator parodied the famous Dead Island trailer, Goat Simulator 3's official trailer was a spoof on the eight-year-old trailer for Dead Island 2, which has disappeared from the public eye.

In a double spoof, Goat Simulator 3 is taking a jab at the long wait time by going straight to the third entry.

Despite the name "simulator" Goat Simulator is anything but. Play as a goat, create havoc around town, strap on a jetpack and go to space, you know, normal goat things.

Head-butt through the world, play minigames, and join up with friends in four-player multiplayer.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns Trailer Reveals Spider-Man and Release Date

1 year 11 months ago

A new trailer for Marvel’s Midnight Suns has revealed that Spider-Man will be a playable hero in the game, as well as an October release date.

Shown during the Summer Games Fest Showcase, the cinematic trailer revealed a new hero that will be an unlockable character for your team roster: Spider-Man. Even better, he'll be voiced by Yuri Lowenthal (although he's not playing the same Spider-Man as he does in the PlayStation games, this is not a crossover or set in the same slice of the Marvel multiverse.) We were also provided Midnight Suns’ release date: October 7, 2022.

That release date covers the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC versions. Midnight Suns will also release on Nintendo Switch, but at a later date.

The trailer for developer Firaxis’ tactical RPG based on Marvel’s darker storylines also showed off main villain Lilith, the Mother of Demons, who was accompanied by corrupted versions of Venom, Sabertooth, Scarlet Witch, and the Hulk. Playing as a new, original superhero known as The Hunter, it will be your job to assemble a group of heroes to take down Lilith and her Hydra allies. Doctor Strange, Iron Man, and Blade will be some of the numerous Marvel heroes available for your team roster.

“We know fans have been eager to see what’s coming next for Marvel’s Midnight Suns,” said Jake Solomon, Creative Director at Firaxis Games. “We’re honored by the opportunity to introduce so many new heroes and villains to Marvel fans and can’t wait for tactics players to discover the joys of fighting like a Super Hero in Marvel’s Midnight Suns!”

Marvel's Midnight Suns: The First Preview

1 year 11 months ago

I was a bit blindsided by the news that the team behind XCOM 2 was working on a Marvel tactics RPG with a card-based battle system. When I finally got my hands on Midnight Suns recently, I was even more surprised – by just how much of an RPG it really is. With a fully explorable quest hub, party member relationship side quests, and even a crafting system, this really is a first for Firaxis. At times it reminded me more of a BioWare game than anything they've made before. And who doesn't want to hang out with Spider-Man?

The set-up is a reimagining of an early 90s comic story arc – that's Midnight Sons, with an O. Though readers of the comics should rest assured this isn't exactly the same story by any means, mainly borrowing a few broad plot elements and cool little details. Hydra, everyone's favorite secret society of supervillain fascists, have resurrected the Demon Queen Lilith, who the devs describe as being on the same level as Thanos, power-wise. That's pretty bad. And to make matters worse, she has the ability to corrupt and dominate all kinds of heroes and villains. I faced off against Fallen Venom, and we also know demonic versions of Hulk and Scarlet Witch will be joining the forces of evil at some point.

Uniqlo Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary Shirts are Affordable Pieces of Memorabilia

Uniqlo Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary Shirts are Affordable Pieces of Memorabilia FFVII

The Uniqlo Final Fantasy 25th anniversary shirts came and went fairly quickly! The prospect of one from each mainline entry, even an unreleased one, seemed quite an attractive one. After all, the official page for them tends to only have sizes XXS through XS following their May 2022 debut. After getting one and checking it out in person, they’re essentially an affordable novelty. It’s an official means of acquiring merchandise that remembers every entry. Though due to their nature, I would recommend a little caution when making a decision.

The Uniqlo Final Fantasy 25th anniversary shirt I ended up with is the FFVII one. This is a basic black t-shirt with a design on it. It’s also one of those extra soft sorts of cotton. You know the type. They feel softer than usual, and maybe even a little thinner as well. I always like to go a size or two up when presented with one as an option, for the sake of comfort.

The Callisto Protocol's first tiny bit of gameplay is like Dead Space but with Mortal Kombat's gore

1 year 11 months ago

At tonight's Geoff Fest (which I understand is officially called Summer Game Fest) we were treated to a first little sliver of gameplay from upcoming space survival-horror The Callisto Protocol, and boy-howdy you shouldn't watch this if you don't like gore, or if you're sitting accross from someone currently eating a rare steak for humorous narrative metaphor purposes.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's gameplay trailer makes my eyes water

1 year 11 months ago

After last night's official teaser trailer showing, the 2022 edition of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 got its first gameplay reveal this evening as part of Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest extravaganza. Taken from a very watery mission during the campaign, the trailer showed Task Force 141's Captain Price, Gaz, Soap et al skulking through an oil rig before raiding a fleeing boat during a storm. I guess there was a reason why Activision Blizzard unveiled the game on a boat deck after all... Get a load of all its fancy new water tech below.

Ex-Blizzard Devs Announce Stormgate, a New Post-Apocalypse RTS

1 year 11 months ago

Frost Giant, a studio made up of ex-Blizzard staff, has announced Stormgate, a new real-time strategy set in a post-apocalyptic future.

Revealed as part of the Summer Game Fest Showcase, our first look at Stormgate is via a cinematic trailer that shows an archeologist piecing together an ancient shield. Her discovery is quickly interrupted by demonic forces, although thankfully a mech-clad ally with rockets and miniguns is able to save our hero from a grisly fate.

Alongside the trailer, Frost Giant has revealed that Stormgate is a PC real-time strategy that will be free-to-play. It will have both a story-driven campaign and multiplayer modes, with co-op play integrated across the entire game. Campaign missions can be played with a friend, while a 3vE mode allows three players to team up against AI enemies. While classic 1v1 ranked matches form the backbone of competitive multiplayer, 3v3 team battles allow co-op elements to be found in the PvP side of Stormgate.

Stormgate will also feature an in-game editor to allow custom games to be made by players and shared among the community. Other features include a fully-integrated tournament system for in-client esports, and the ability to spectate matches and use learning tools to enhance your own skills.

The game’s lore begins hundreds of years into the future, when humanity’s homeworld has been near-destroyed by the Infernals, a race of alien demons that emerged from portal-like Stormgates. The Infernals are set to return and threaten the remnants of humanity, and so should mankind wish to succeed in rebuilding its home, it’s going to need a whole lot of mechs.
