Resident Evil 4 Is $30 for Black Friday

5 months 1 week ago

It might not technically be Black Friday 2023 yet, but the sales are live at all the major retailers. That means you can save a bunch of money on all kinds of things, including video games. One of the best games of 2023 (see our 10/10 Resident Evil 4 remake review) is a from-the-ground-up remake of Resident Evil 4. Like the remakes of the previous games, this one is excellently made and just phenomenally fun to play. And thanks to Walmart's Black Friday sale, it's available on PS5 and Xbox Series X for just $30. That's a killer deal.

Resident Evil 4 Is $30 for Black Friday

In this reimagined version of the game, we catch up with Leon six years after the Raccoon City disaster. As an agent reporting directly to the President of the United States, he faces his toughest mission yet: rescuing the President's kidnapped daughter from a mysterious European village engulfed in madness. The remake, reconstructed using Capcom's RE Engine, enhances the visuals and adds new story elements to deliver a modern gaming experience that feels both new yet true to the original.

Ex-Rockstar North dev spills on Agent, abandoned zombie game, and more in fascinating new blog

5 months 1 week ago

UPDATE 23/11/23: Ex-Rockstar North technical director Obbe Vermeij has U-turned on plans to share more about the development of early Rockstar games he worked on, after Rockstar itself got in touch.

"Today I got an email from R* North," Vermeij wrote in a new blog post, after his earlier details about Agent and an abandoned zombie project caught the eyes of fans. "Apparently some of the OG's there are upset by my blog. I genuinely didn't think anyone would mind me talking about 20 year old games but I was wrong. Something about ruining the Rockstar mystique or something.

"Anyway, this blog isn't important enough to me to piss off my former colleagues in Edinburgh so I'm winding it down. I'll maybe just leave a few articles with anecdotes that don't affect anyone but me.

This LG Fast IPS monitor is the best I've ever seen for $200

5 months 1 week ago

This sure is a blast from the past. The LG 27GL83A and the slightly more expensive GL850 were the first two Fast IPS monitors to hit the scene, offering significantly better motion handling than IPS monitors up to that point - which excelled in terms of colour and viewing angles, but struggled with fast-paced action. Now the 27GL83A is back once again, and at a new low price - $200, a nice $100 reduction from its usual asking price.

What’s the best second Spider-Man game? The answer may mildly surprise you.

Call of Duty 2024 a Black Ops title set in the Gulf War, new report claims

5 months 1 week ago

Following some initial rumblings earlier this year, a new report has lend further credence to suggestions 2024's Call of Duty game will be another entry in the Black Ops series, this one now said to be taking place in the Gulf War.

Word that Call of Duty 2024 would be a new Black Ops game first surfaced back in February, when it was claimed next year's series entry was being developed by Treyarch under the codename Cerberus. Furher evidence backing this up arrived in July, when actor and singer Luke Charles Stafford shared a Facebook post referencing Black Ops and claiming his likeness would be used for next year's main character, "Ratcliff".

And that brings us to a new report from Windows Central which, citing "multiple sources familiar with Activision's plans", says next year's Call of Duty "is indeed Black Ops". The publication also claims the game will attempt to "explore a nuanced narrative of the Gulf War, with a critical focus on different participants within the conflict."

Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope Is $14 for Black Friday

5 months 1 week ago

A huge discount on a popular Nintendo Switch game has hit Walmart for Black Friday. That game is none other than Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, the turn-based adventure that throws the characters of Super Mario together with the Rabbids. Sparks of Hope is available for an even $14, which is a 75% discount off of its standard price. If you've been waiting on a blowout sale, this is the lowest this game will probably get.

Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope On Sale for $14 During Black Friday

If you've never heard of the Mario + Rabbids series, it is a turn-based collaboration that combines the worlds of Super Mario and the Rabbids. The first game in the series, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, was released for the Nintendo Switch in 2017. Last year, Sparks of Hope was released for Switch as a sequel. You play as Mario, Luigi, Peach, and the familiar cast of Mario characters. However, you also have the ability to play as Rabbid versions of Mario characters, like Rabbid Rosalina.

Sparks of Hope took a huge step forward from Kingdom Battle with its open-level design. Here, you can freely explore and battle however you choose, whereas every level was linear in the original game. If you're interested in checking out the game, it's worth noting that you don't need to play the first Mario + Rabbids title to understand the second. See our Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope review for more info.

Fresh Call of Duty 2024 Details Confirmed Alongside Gulf War Setting in New Report

5 months 1 week ago

The next Call of Duty game, set for release in 2024, may be another entry in the Black Ops series of games and set in the Gulf War, according to a new report.

As reported by Windows Central, the Treyarch-developed next release in the Call of Duty franchise will be a new Black Ops game, though its official name is still being decided internally. It will take place during the Gulf War, additionally touching on the global political fallout after the Cold War. Windows Central describes the approach as having a "nuanced" narrative, focusing on different participants in the Gulf War.

This largely corroborates similar reports of the Gulf War setting inadvertently leaked by an actor earlier this year.

Call%20of%20Duty%202024%20will%20be%20the%20latest%20entry%20in%20the%20long-running%20Black%20Ops%20series%20according%20to%20latest%20reports.

Additionally, the report suggests the new game will lean back into more traditional military combat tech and Black Ops gadgets, rather than focusing on the futuristic tech some of the more recent Call of Duty games have embraced.

Review: In Stars and Time Makes a Time Loop Seem Manageable

Review: In Stars and Time Makes a Time Loop Seem Manageable

Going through a time loop, as we’ve seen in past games and movies, can be an exhausting process that means keeping track of what to do over again each day. However, In Stars and Time attempts to streamline the process and make it more manageable as a group of RPG adventurers attempt to hopefully, eventually, save the day on one particular day.

When In Stars and Time begins, you’re right at the end of a story about a plucky group of four adventurers about to save the world. Mirabelle, a housemaiden from a group called The House of Change that servs the Change God was the only one who wasn’t frozen when the King arrived, thus becoming a chosen one. Her journey led to her traveling with Siffrin, Isabeau, Odile, and Bonnie, and the group has returned to the town outside the House to face the King and hopefully save the day. However, after Siffrin and the group prepares the night before and enters the house, he dies after not discovering a trap in a death corridor. He then wakes up in the same meadow he was napping in the previous day, thus realizing he’s in a time loop that will hopefully break once they finally save the day.

South Park: Snow Day shows weapons and abilities in new gameplay trailer

5 months 1 week ago

With winter looming, THQ Nordic has seized this most seasonally appropriate opportunity to showcase more of its upcoming South Park: Snow Day, with its latest trailer revealing a smattering of new gameplay for the co-op adventure.

South Park: Snow Day was initially teased back in August last year, making a sneaky post-credits appearance at the very end of THQ Nordic's 2022 showcase. One year on, it made a second showcase appearance, this time to confirm its title, unveil its decidedly un-TV-show like 3D visual style, and reveal a handful of other details.

We know, for instance, that South Park: Snow Day (which is being developed by The Blackout Club studio Question) is a co-op adventure in which up to four players - along with familiar faces including Cartman, Stan, Kyle, and Kenny - enjoy their day away from school by battling through the snow-blanketed South Park streets on a quest to save the world.

Nintendo announced that a patch to fix the current version of Super Mario RPG on the Nintendo Switch, which an issue that could prevent progress. The update to fix the issue is planned to release in December 2023, and the company will deliver more information about it at a later date.

The aforementioned glitch can happen after the Paratroopa event triggers in Monstro Town. After the event, when the player heads to Land’s End to continue with the main quest, the Paratroopa squad might not appear. This causes a soft-lock that blocks the player from progressing.

However, Nintendo revealed that there is currently a workaround to prevent this issue from happening in Super Mario RPG. The way to avoid this it involves the player traveling back to the Mushroom Kingdom, and then returning to Land’s End. Doing this will make the Paratroopa unit appear as intended.

Nintendo added that there is no need to go inside the castle in the Mushroom Kingdom, and that simply visiting the surrounding town should suffice in order to fix the issue. Additionally, this workaround fix can be performed by using fast travel through the map option, or traveling through the overworld.
