Ciel Nosurge DX & Ar Nosurge DX for PS4, Switch, & PC Delayed by Koei Tecmo

3 years 5 months ago

Today Koei Tecmo announced that the upcoming remasters Ciel Nosurge DX and Ar Nosurge DX are coming later than expected.

Both games were going to launch in Japan on January 28, 2021, but will instead release over a month later, on March 4.

The platforms are still the same, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The reason provided is the usual, to improve the quality of the final release. Producer Akira Tsuchiya also conveyed the team’s apology to those who were eagerly awaiting the remasters.

If you’re unfamiliar with the original games, Ciel Nosurge was the first game created by Gust for PS Vita after the acquisition by Koei Tecmo. It’s a life simulator in which the player had to help a girl named Ion regain her memories.

The game shares the setting with the more well-known Ar Tonelico even if it’s not a direct sequel or prequel. It was originally released in 2012 exclusively for the PS Vita.

Ar Nosurge continued the series in 2014 for PS3 and PS Vita, shifting the genre to JRPG.

Ar Nosurge was actually localized in English between 2014 and 2015, while Ciel Nosurge never landed on the western market. At the moment, we don’t know whether the DX remasters will be localized or not.

If you want to take a look at Ciel Nosurge DX and Ar Nosurge DX, you can enjoy a trailer and gameplay.

Ghost of Tsushima Fans Help Restore Torii Toppled by Typhoon in Real-World Tsushima

3 years 5 months ago

Video games are a form of entertainment, but often their influence can extend far beyond the screen of our consoles. Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima had that effect in a rather unexpected way.

Back in September, a typhoon toppled a torii (the iconic sacred gates of Shinto shrines) at Watatsumi Shrine on the real island of Tsushima.

One of the priests at the shrine launched a Campfire campaign (basically the Japanese version of Kickstarter, as reported by Famitsu) to gather funds for the Torii’s restoration.

The campaign was launched less than a month ago (on November 27) and currently has 20 days to go. Yet, its original target of 5,000,000 yen (just north of $48,000) has already been overtaken four times with 20,177,777 yen donated at the moment of this writing by 1,513 supporters.

Below you can see the Torii in its original condition and after it was toppled, as portrayed in the Campfire campaign. Torii are most commonly seen at the entrance of Shinto shrines to help mark the transition from the mundane world to consecrated soil. If you have played Ghost of Tsushima, you have likely seen and crossed quite a few.

Back 4 Blood Improves on the L4D Formula With its New Card System

3 years 5 months ago

Announced at The Game Awards just over a week ago, Back 4 Blood is a new co-op shooter game from Turtle Rock Studios, best known for releasing the ever-popular Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 soon after that. Even to this day, L4D2 continues to be one of the best and most enjoyable co-op zombie shooter games to play on PC, and with Back 4 Blood, it’s clear that Turtle Rock is finally ready to refine that formula even further and take things to the next level.

I got a chance to check out the closed alpha over the weekend, and right off the bat, it certainly looks and feels like L4D2. The satisfying chunky gameplay is still intact; landing headshots with guns feels satisfying, as does lobbing off zombie heads with a machete or spiked bat.

The closed alpha gave me access to four different characters, each with their own passive perks to cater to different play styles. Evangelo is the slippery one; he moves fast, and has the ability to slip out of an enemy’s grab every few minutes. Holly specializes in melee combat, Walker is a tankier character with extra HP and extra ammo capacity, while Hoffman is more of a support character who can carry extra support and offensive items.

They all feel distinct, and even without any semblance of a story, they already feel every bit as charming and personable as the cast of L4D2.

The Bigger Game – ARK: Survival Evolved

Xbox Games with Gold Predictions

It’s almost time for the offical announcement for what free games will be offered to Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers for the very first month of 2021. And while we wait for that announcement, we have some Xbox Games with Gold predictions that have a solid chance of being included on that list.

3 years 5 months ago

It has been a wild week, to say the least, for Cyberpunk 2077 and its developer CD Projekt Red. Jackie will no longer disappear in The Pickup or The Heist.

Fixed an issue preventing players from landing the helicopter in Love like Fire.

Fixed an issue with Takemura not calling in Play it Safe.

It’s no longer possible to trigger the same dialogue twice in Big in Japan.

Fixed an issue with Delamain appearing upside down at the end of Don’t Lose Your Mind.

The Bigger Game – Dark Souls: Remastered

PS Plus Free Games Predictions

Dark Souls Remastered

It’s almost that time for Sony to announce what free games will be offered on PS Plus for the very first month of 2021. While we wait for the offical reveal, we have a few PS Plus predictions as to what games will be included for fun in the meantime.

For the current month of December 2020, the PS Plus free games were Just Cause 4, Rocket Arena, and Worms Rumble. All three games will continue to be free to download for PS Plus subscribers until Jan. 4.

Usually a larger game headlines the list, offering some bang for your buck so to speak, with last month’s being Just Cause 4. For January 2021 we suspect Dark Souls: Remastered would be a perfect AAA inclusion for PS Plus predictions.

Looking Back at the Ending of Attack on Titan’s Powerful Third Season

3 years 5 months ago

[This article contains major spoilers for Attack on Titan season 3.]

With the final season of Attack on Titan now underway, it’s a good time to take a quick look back at the season that preceded it and how it elevated what initially appeared to be your run-of-the-mill action shounen anime to a true narrative powerhouse. I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not exactly an expert when it comes to anime. I’m not well-versed in the ins and outs of what makes an anime series tick, and hell, I’m not even a fan of the genre in general.

At first glance, Attack on Titan seems to embody almost everything I hate about anime: it’s extremely over-the-top, it’s overdramatic, and everyone’s always yelling and crying all the time. If it wasn’t for the beautiful soundtrack and the exceptionally well-choreographed action, I likely would’ve dropped the series long before the first season even ended.

By the time I got to the third season, though, I was convinced that Attack on Titan featured a wonderfully intricate plot that could easily stand shoulder-to-shoulder with something like Game of Thrones… pre-season 6, that is.

It’s not a stretch to say that Attack on Titan has seen a noticeable dip in popularity as the series has progressed. The gap between its first two seasons stretched on for way too long, and by the time the series found its footing again, there were newer and bigger series to check out.

Create Your Own Nintendo Direct With This Awesome Fan Project

3 years 5 months ago

It feels like it’s been an awfully long time since we’ve had a proper Nintendo Direct. Instead of their usual lengthy video formats, Nintendo’s been taking a different approach this year by scattering their new announcements.

If the lack of a true Direct has been giving you the blues, this fan project will be sure to put a smile on your face.

Switch Stop on YouTube knew just how much people are infatuated and excited by the prospect of new game announcements in Nintendo Directs, so they came up with a creative way for people to make their own dream presentation.

The entire project takes place on YouTube. You start by making your first choice: which Smash Bros. character reveal should your Direct open with, platforming icon Rayman or Super Mario RPG’s very own Geno?

You click your choice to move onto the next video, which will present you with two new choices, which will take you to another video where you’ll make even more choices.

After you’ve picked your four announcements, you can sit back and watch your very own Nintendo Direct unfold with fan-made trailers and everything. It looks very official!

At the end, you’ll be graded on how good your Direct was. Did it have a healthy combination of new games and nostalgia? Did it end with a memorable announcement? You’ll get a score out of 10.

There are 16 total outcomes for your presentation, so you’ll need to play more than once if you want to see all of the possible fan trailers. My first presentation scored a 9/10, so I’ll be sitting here waiting for Nintendo to call me to ask for help with their next official Direct.

Microsoft Flight Simulator Paris Landmarks Add-On Announced by Orbx

3 years 5 months ago

Paris in Microsoft Flight Simulator has a few dedicated landmarks, but it isn’t exactly exceptional. Third-party add-on developer Orbx is aiming to fix that.

Today the developer revealed that its TrueEarth team is developing a package that will surely enrich the city.

This should serve as a perfect complement for the recently-released Paris Orly airport.

Below you can check out a description, feature list, and gallery, keeping in mind that it’s a beta build. The release of the package is planned for January.

“Paris, the capital of France, has been one of Europe’s major centres of diplomacy, finance, commerce, fashion, science and the arts for the past 300 years. Paris, known for having beauty, elegance, and for being a boldly romantic city is transformed for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Pokemon Gets Its Own Jet Again in Japan, and It’s Exeggutor’s Turn to Shine

3 years 5 months ago

Pokemon have been painted on airliners’ liveries for a long time, including ANA’s iconic and long-gone Pokemon Jets.

Lately, they’ve been more common on manhole lids, but a new Pokemon airliner has just been launched.

Miyazaki-based regional airline Solaseed Air just painted one of its fourteen 737 aircraft (specifically the Boeing 737-86N with registration JA812X for the planespotters out there) as “Nassy Resort in Miyazaki” portraying Exeggutor and its Alolan version. “Nassy” is Exeggutor’s Japanese name.

The choice of pokemon isn’t random, as Exeggutor is associated with the city of Miyazaki, which also has the famous Poke Lids portraying the cute coconut critter.

The livery was inaugurated yesterday, December 19, at Miyazaki Airport with a dedicated ceremony, and it’ll remain in service for about a year and a half. It even comes with matching headrest covers inside.

Perhaps less glamorous but no less cute are the Exeggutor buses. Those visiting Miyazaki will be able to ride three “Nassy Resort Buses” operating in the city and in the nearby Nobeoka and Miyanokojo.

Below you can check out a few pictures of the vehicles and their inauguration ceremonies, which came with the press release.

New Fortnite Trailer Is All About the Wait for Master Chief

3 years 5 months ago

While players aren’t exactly waiting for Master Chief in Fortnite anymore, considering that he’s already there, Grif and Sarge from Red vs. Blue are rather eager to receive his visit.

Ina new trailer, we get to see a funny skit with the two popular multiplayer caricatures as they work with two new faces to prepare a welcome worth the Chief.

I wouldn’t know if I’d consider the attempt successful per-se, but the video is certainly funny.

You can watch it below.

Master Chief’s iconic suit joined Epic Games’ popular battle royale shooter back on December 11, following PlayStation icon Kratos.

Fortnite is currently available for basically every platform with a chip inside excluding iOS.

The game is currently deep into Season 5, which started this month and will end in March.

Gran Turismo 7 Producer Kazunori Yamauchi Discusses Importance of Attention to Detail & Improvement

3 years 5 months ago

Today, during the Gran Turismo Sport Nations Cup, Gran Turismo 7 producer Kazunori Yamauchi talked about the future.

Yamauchi-san mentioned that Polyphony Digital always pursues the best and don’t want to make concessions on anything. This is no longer just Yamauchi-san’s own way of thinking, but the mindset of all 200 or so staff at the studio.

In Japan they say “Divinity comes to reside in the details” and Yamauchi-san believes that it’s true. How much attention you pay to the fine details, how you hone things to perfection, and applying incredible amount of attention to this is Polyphony’s production style.

Quite interesting is the fact that Yamauchi mentions 200 or so staff at Polyphony Digital. The latest official figure was 170, so it’s quite possible that the studio may have staffed up to tackle the final stretch of development of Gran Turismo 7.

Later in the stream, Yamauchi-san mentioned that the developers at Polyphony have watched the growth of the drivers in the Gran Turismo Sport competitive scene over time, and they always exceed expectations and continue to move ever forward. And even for the Gran Turismo development team, this made them realize that they must also continue to grow and improve themselves toward the future. The GT Sport competitors gave them the courage to do so.

You can watch both clips below.

First of all, the game has now passed 7 million copies shipped as of today including physical units and digital downloads. The latest update was at 6 million units back in May. That’s certainly not bad for a game released in 2016.

That’s why it shouldn’t surprise that it’s still getting new content, which is the topic of the next piece of news.

A new free update and a new paid DLC are coming in spring 2021.

The DLC will include a new character, Paikuhan, on top of Bardock and Gine’s costumes from the Dragon Ball Super: Broly movie.

DCS World Trailer Shows Gorgeous Aircraft & Teases Apache; Might Make You Tear Up a Bit

3 years 5 months ago

Can a the trailer of a military flight simulator make you cry? DCS World developer Eagle Dynamics set out to test that.

The studio has always proven itself capable of delivering rather amazing trailers and this is no exception, celebrating 2020’s achievement and teasing what is to come.

Combine what is essentially fighter jet (and prop) porn with the beautiful music by the masters of epic at Two Steps from Hell, and an uplifting message at the end of a trying year, and you may very well have tears streaming down your face by the end.

Incidentally, the music is by the same people who made the legendary launch trailer of Mass Effect 2 as impactful as it was. Good times.

The trailer also provides a tease of an Apache module for those eager to bring the iconic attack helicopter out for a spin.

You can check it out below.

If you’re unfamiliar with DCS World, it’s an absolutely gorgeous free-to-play sandbox combat flight simulator that offers a giant lineup of DLC aircraft for those who want to expand the experience.

Microsoft Flight Simulator Bali Airport Add-On Announced by Aerosoft; Coming in 2021

3 years 5 months ago

While Microsoft Flight Simulator is getting new airport add-on at a breathtaking pace, most of them are in North America and Europe.

Aerosoft just announced the upcoming release of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport (WADD) in Bali, which is certainly a nice break from western countries as we head toward a more exotic destination.

It’s the second-busiest international airport in Indonesia and it’s known for its stunning terminal built to resemble traditional Balinese architecture.

Ngurah Rai sees a lot of airline traffic from basically all over the world, and it can easily accommodate the largest airliners like 747s and a380s, not that there is many left of those flying nowadays.

You can check out the first images below, including handy comparison with the rather mediocre default scenery.

New Sakura Wars Game Sakura Revolution Becomes Playable in the West Without a VPN

3 years 5 months ago

When Sakura Revolution: Blooming Maidens launched in Japan a few days ago, western fans found themselves locked out.

A persistent maintenance message signalled that Sega had IP-locked the game only to fans playing in Japan.

Of course, crafty players managed to play via a VPN, but that’s always a bother.

The issue lasted only a few days as the message has now disappear and western players have been allowed into the game.

No official announcement has been made by Sega, so we don’t know why the lock has been removed. We also don’t know if this is permanent, so keep in mind that this may change at any time before you invest in the game.

The game can’t be downloaded from the mobile stores in the west without going through a couple of loopholes. iOS users will have to make a Japanese account, while Android users can use QooApp.

Of course, the game is available only in Japanese at the moment, and there is no information about a western release of Sakura Revolution: Blooming Maidens just yet.

Super Nintendo Land in Japan Looks Fun in Nintendo Direct; Planned to Open in US & Singapore as Well

3 years 5 months ago

Today the house of Mario and Zelda aired a special Nintendo Direct broadcast featuring the upcoming theme park attraction Super Nintendo World.

The attraction is introduced directly by Shigeru Miyamoto, who provides a good look at what we can expect. It looks pretty neat.

It even comes with interactive features that link up with your smartphone.

Of course, we also see a gift shop with plenty of merch to syphon every yen out of your wallet.

There are the inevitable cafeteria and pop-corn available in Caramel Peach and Mushroom flavors. Interestingly, Miyamoto-san says that walking around while eating may seem rude. This is actually a little-known fact about Japan, where you really shouldn’t do that as it may bother others around you. Theme parks are indeed the exception to this unwritten rule.

Lastly, we hear that plans are in place to open Super Nintendo World at the Universal Studios parks in Orlando, Hollywood, and Singapore.

You can watch it below.
