Microsoft Flight Simulator CRJ Add-On Gets Manual Sample; It’ll Have 5 Volumes of Documentation

3 years 5 months ago

Many Microsoft Flight Simulator fans are eagerly awaiting the Bombardier CRJ add-on by Aerosoft, and today the developer revealed another piece of the puzzle.

This time around we get a sample of volume 1 of the documentation that will be included with the add-on. If you’re wondering about the complexity of the aircraft, this is likely a good place to start evaluating.

You shouldn’t worry too much about spoilers, as you’ll have plenty to read when the CRJ package releases. It will include five volumes of documentation.

Incidentally, project manager Mathijs Kok mentioned that he recently assisted the good folks at Majestic Software get into the same level of access with Microsoft Flight Simulator’s developers as Aerosoft enjoys. This could mean that the development of Majestic’s excellent De Havilland Canada Dash 8 Q400 add-on for MSFS could receive an acceleration.

At the moment, the release date of the CRJ Package (which will initially include CRJ 550 and 700 and then expand with the 900 and 1000 versions) is still unknown, with “hopes” (but no promises) that it’ll come before the end of the year. At the moment, Aerosoft is waiting for Asobo to fix a few remaining issues before they can commit to a launch date..

ARK II Starring Vin Diesel Will Be Xbox Series X & S “Console Launch Exclusive”

3 years 5 months ago

Today Microsoft announced that it claimed partial dibs on the recently-announced Ark: Survival Evolved sequel ARK II.

According to the announcement, the upcoming sandbox survival game will be an Xbox Series X & S “console launch exclusive” when it launches in 2022.

This basically means that it’s likely also coming to PC and it’ll be temporarily exclusive to Microsoft’s consoles at release, with the duration of that deal yet to be announced.

The game made headlines last week after its debut at The Game Awards thanks to the unexpected appearance of Vin Diesel’s 3D doppelganger, with the actor set to play the role of Santiago Da Costa in the game on top of acting as executive producer.

Apparently, Diesel is a big fan of Ark: Survival Evolved, having played the game for over 1,000 hours.

You can check out the trailer of Fast & Furious: Dino Drift below.

Jokes aside, we can certainly hope that the game will at least look better than the latest Fast & Furious title.

Ok. I’m done with the jokes. Honest. I won’t even try to associate dinosaurs and nitrous oxide, albeit it’s very tempting.

Incidentally, we also hear that the trailer itself “was rendered in-engine using real-time ray-tracing technology, and ARK II’s game assets and lighting techniques.”

Modder Adds Super Mario 64’s Whomp’s Fortress to Zelda: Breath of the Wild

3 years 5 months ago

There are some pretty iconic stages in Super Mario 64, and among them is none other than Whomp’s Fortress. This stage may be small in size but it makes up for it in its verticality and the awesome King Whomp boss battle at the top of the fort.

We gave it the number nine spot in our list of the best Super Mario 64 levels ranked, and it’s much deserved. It turns out that we’re not the only ones who appreciate this stage though. A modder named Waikuteru has magically added the ’90s video game stage to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, because why not?

You can check out the video below that shows off Link making his way up to the top of the fortress. As you can see, the stage isn’t just straight ripped from Mario 64, as it has Breath of the Wild elements to it to make it feel right at home in the world of Hyrule.

Microsoft, Nintendo, and PlayStation Unite to Promote Safer Gaming

3 years 5 months ago

Microsoft, Nintendo, and PlayStation released a joint statement on Monday pledging to make gaming safer for everyone across all their platforms.

Dave McCarthy, corporate vice president of Xbox operations, posted the joint statement on Microsoft’s Xbox Wire, titled “Our Shared Commitment to Safer Gaming,” outlining each company’s initiative to protect gamers of all ages, especially children who are the “youngest and most vulnerable players.”

Each gaming company presented three principles critical to their commitment to ensuring gamer safety: prevention, partnership, and responsibility.

Prevention includes pledges to give players and parents safety tools and features needed to customize the gaming experiences appropriate for the players’ age and educating on the codes of conduct, terms of use, enforcement policies, and investment in tech to prevent harm to players before it happens.

Partnership involves engaging with players, law enforcement agencies, industry regulators, and gaming communities to advance gamer safety, including encouraging the use of reporting tools to call out hate and harassment.

Finally, responsibility involves each company holding themselves accountable for complying with law enforcement and notifying authorities in the event unlawful conduct occurs or a player is at risk of harm, making sure that everyone knows what their codes of conduct are, and that players who have been reported for ill-conduct know what rules to follow in order to continue playing on their platforms.

Funniest Cyberpunk 2077 Glitches and Bugs

3 years 5 months ago

If you have not heard the news by now, Cyberpunk 2077 has had a bit of a rocky launch. Early adopters of the game have not only been facing a slew of technical issues on base PS4 and Xbox One consoles, but plenty of problems are also popping up for PC and PS5/Series X players too. CD Projekt has confirmed that multiple patches are currently in the works to release over the next few months and the company has even started to offer refunds for players who feel dissatisfied with their recent purchase.

With that being said, these glitches and bugs have been going around social media ever since Cyberpunk 2077 launched last week and some of them are just too dang funny not to share.

It’s unfortunate that players have to deal with these technical issues, but hey, at least they make for some good ol’ light-hearted content.

I’ve rounded up some of the funniest and wildest Cyberpunk 2077 glitches and bugs out there, including one that I personally encountered during my time in one of the game’s opening missions.

Enjoy!

Final Nintendo Indie World Showcase of 2020 Happening This Week

3 years 5 months ago

Today Nintendo of America has announced that an Indie World showcase will be happening on Dec. 15 at 9 AM PT and will feature 15 minutes of updates and new announcements on everything indie coming to the Nintendo Switch in the near future.

Nintendo didn’t tease any specific titles that would be shown during the presentation but there have been some pretty exciting reveals in the past, such as Axiom Verge 2 last year.

Unfortunately, developer Thomas Happ delayed the title to early 2021 but there could be a chance for it to be shown during the Indie World showcase this week, and possibly give us a concrete release date.

And this should go without saying, but don’t expect any big first-party Nintendo titles from this presentation. This is only focused on indies from Nintendo’s global partners so there will not be anything like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate or Metroid Prime 4 making an appearance.

Cyberpunk 2077 Achieves Second-Biggest Retail Release Week of 2020 in The UK

3 years 5 months ago

Today GfK published (via GamesIndustry) its physical video game sales charts for the UK, focusing on the past week.

Unsurprisingly, Cyberpunk 2077 sold very strongly, achieving the second-biggest launch of the UK behind FIFA 21. This isn’t very surprising considering that the FIFA series tends to be pretty much unbeatable in the island of Her Majesty the Queen.

CD Projekt’s game pushes The Last Of Us Part II down to third place. On top of that, we know that CD Projekt RED’s games tend to do very well on PC, which means that digital sales would push the numbers even higher.

60% of physical sales were on PS4, 35% on Xbox, and the rest on PC.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is still steady in third place, showing the power of its legs. It’s going to be the second-biggest boxed game of 2021 overall, following the unbeatable FIFA 21.

Ubisoft’s Immortals: Fenyx Rising barely failed to make the top 10 on its launch week and its sales then dropped by 45% to rank only 17th this week.

It’ll be interesting to see what kind of sales Cyberpunk 2077 will show over the next few weeks.

You can check out the top 10 chart below.

Microsoft Flight Simulator CRJ Add-On Reveals Even More Spectacular Screenshots as Beta Test Begins

3 years 5 months ago

Those eagerly awaiting Aerosoft’s Bombardier CRJ add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator are in for a treat (or many) today.

The package is currently being beta tested, and plenty of screenshots have been posted on the official forums (sources: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5).

Featured prominently in the screenshots is the Lufthansa Regional operated by Erowings livery, which looks lovely.

Incidentally, if you’re wondering why people would fly regional airliners in formation, that’s because the developers are working on a video, which requires an aircraft to “chase” another and act as a camera.

Interestingly, we hear that the CRJ will have plenty of documentation, with five manuals included in the package. Yes. Five.

Yet, the clincher is that Masami Obari worked on the trailer. You may know him for his work on classics like Dangaioh, Detonator Orgun, Dancouga, Tekkaman Blade, Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans, Mazinkaiser, Gaigaigar, and quite a few Super Robot Wars games.

Granblue Fantasy Relink for PS5 & PS4 Looks Absolutely Gorgeous in Brand New Gameplay

3 years 5 months ago

Today Cygames revealed a brand new look at the gameplay of Granblue Fantasy Relink.

The gameplay, which was shared during a panel at Ganblue Fantasy Fes 2020, looks absolutely fantastic.

We get to see Djeeta in action alongside Catalina, Io, and Rosetta, alongside a look at the menus.

Unsurprisingly, it looks absolutely gorgeous and massively improved since its previous showing.

This should not surprise, considering that the engine is now complete and the development team is focusing on creating assets.

At the end of the demo, we get to see a spectacular boss fight. I dare say that this looks like it’ll be worth the wait.

At the end of the presentation, director Tetsuya Fukuhara mentioned that the team won’t have much to share about the game in 2021, but an article focusing on the graphics will be released on Cygames’ official magazine on Dec. 14.

3 years 5 months ago

Today, during the first day of Granblue Fantasy Fes 2020, Cygames provided an update about the much-anticipated Granblue Fantasy Relink.

We learn that the new release window is 2022, but it’s also coming for both PS5 and PS4.

Cross play between the two consoles will be supported.

Director Tetsuya Fukuhara mentioned that Granblue Fantasy Relink  was definitely announced too early and admitted that with hindsight, he would have revealed the game in the summer 2021.

We also get an update on the state of development, which you can read in the second slide below. The game is in alpha and can be played in its entirety, but assets and features aren’t finished.

Fukuhara-san then revealed Blue, the original protagonist of the game. Ultimately, the developers decided to replace her with Gran and Djeeta. She appeared as a cameo in Granblue Fantasy Versus as one of Djeeta’s colors and her costume will ultimately appear in Granblue Fantasy Relink.

Lastly, we get an extensive update on what has been done since the developer changed from PlatinumGames to Cygames’ internal team based in Osaka.

The engine is finally complete (as of August 2020) and the game is currently approaching the final stage of development, with the team going “all in” on creating assets.

Final Fantasy XIV’s Naoki Yoshida Remembers Player Who Passed Away With Touching Post

3 years 5 months ago

A few days ago, we learned that Final Fantasy XIV player Maidy Maidy passed away after battling cancer for some time.

Maidy was known as the author of the story behind the TV series and theatrical movie “Dad of Light” which focused on the game.

He was also an active Final Fantasy XIV player and leader of the Giovinezza (“Youth” in Japanese) free company on the Gungnir server.

The game’s Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida knew Maidy personally, and published a long and touching post on the official Final Fantasy XIV Developers’ Blog.

You can read how Yoshida-san introduced the post below. I will not reproduce the rest here, as I believe you should read it on the Developers’ Blog, where it was originally posted.

To the FFXIV players:

I really struggled to decide where to publish these words. This is the official FFXIV Developers’ Blog, after all, and I was torn until the very end on whether it is appropriate to post this here. But, I’m sorry – please allow me to be selfish just this one time.

Today CD Projekt released a statement on its investor relations’ website commenting on how much Cyberpunk 2077 is contributing to the studio’s finances.

The statement mentions that the according to CD Projekt’s estimates, the income coming from the sale of digital pre-orders alone already surpasses all development costs of the game and marketing, including future promotional expenditures until the end of the year.

That’s… a whole lot of money.

It’ll certainly be interesting to see what will be announced at the studio’s next financial conference call, which should come sometime after January. I have a feeling that they’ll have to change the scale of the revenue graphs.

Cyberpunk 2077 is currently available to PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It has also been confirmed to be coming for Xbox Series X and PS5 down the line with upgrades available for those who purchase the game for the current generation of consoles.

7 Things That Have Happened Since Cyberpunk 2077 Was Announced

3 years 5 months ago

CD Projekt RED announced Cyberpunk 2077 in May 2012 and dropped a teaser trailer eight months later in 2013, giving fans a glimpse of the far-out graphics and futuristic environment they’ll get to experience when the game is ready to be released into the wild.

Fast forward eight years later and after several delays, no doubt due to the COVID-19 pandemic forcing devs to work from home and the stresses of crunch culture, we’re finally going to roam around Night City with the roguishly breathtaking Keanu Reeves.

While waiting eight years for a game can be painful, other games have come out to medicate our impatience. Here are some of the awesome games that came out between Cyberpunk 2077’s announcement and now.

Add-on developer SamScene3D released the previously-announced “Seoul City Wow” package for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

The package improves the landscape of the capital of South Korea, which is great considering that the default rendition of the country is a bit on the mediocre side.

The add-on can be purchased on the developer’s own store for $16.95.

Alongside the release, we got a charming trailer showing off the new look of the city, alongside plenty of screenshots.

Here’s what you get in the package.
