Zelda & Link Perform Hilarious Duo of Evanescence’s “Bring Me to Life”

2 years 8 months ago

The Legend of Zelda and Evanescence likely played a huge role in many 90s kid’s lives growing up, as each was a staple of the generation’s tween and teen years of adolescents. Still, who could have guessed that we’d one day get a video of Zelda and Link lip singing the rock band’s well-known track, “Bring Me to Life.”

As you can see in the video below, Zelda and Link can be seen singing the aptly appropriate song in a duo thanks to the Wombo AI app. The post is simultaneously hilarious, adorable, and a little creepy, especially when it comes to seeing Link’s lips moving.

Regardless of how you feel about it, you’ve got to admit that Mediocre_Metal_7174’s post to the Breath of the Wild subreddit is pretty appropriate. Evanescence’s “Bring Me to Life” pretty much describes the opening of the game perfectly, as Link is brought to life and woken up after Zelda puts him in stasis for his safety.

Got any other songs you think would fit perfectly to describe a video game? Be sure to let us know in the comments section below so we can all have a good laugh.

Nippon Ichi Software’s Mysterious New Game Will Reveal Its Title Tomorrow

2 years 8 months ago

Following yesterday’s tease, Nippon Ichi Software launched another video about its upcoming and mysterious new game.

The trailer showcases the same scene as the previous one, but ends mentioning “Game Title” and a date, August 5, 2021. That’s in less than 24 hours, considering Japan’s timezone.

This appears to indicate that we’ll know the title of the new game tomorrow. Incidentally, that also marks the release of the new issue of Famitsu, so the reveal of the game might happen on the popular magazine (this isn’t officially confirmed, mind you. It’s just my speculation).

You can watch the video below.

Of course, you can expect to read it here as soon as the full reveal is made, but for now, your guess is as good as mine.

We do know that it’s a console game because it’s in the “consumer” area of Nippon Ichi’s website, and that’s how Japan categorizes consoles.

Microsoft Flight Simulator Great Britain Central Review (Orbx)

2 years 8 months ago

Orbx just released its Great Britain Central add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator on PC, with an Xbox release expected to follow soon.

This add-on is the first major release of its kind (at least to my knowledge) as it doesn’t just focus on adding detail and landmarks to a single city or a small area, but to an entire region, the whole central part of England.

It’s available on Orbx Direct for $13.45, which means it can benefit from the publisher’s own Orbx Central client for installation and updates. It’ll also come to the official marketplace, at which point it’ll be available for Xbox Series X|S as well.

The concept for this add-on is inherited from previous simulators, which require extensive and expensive add-ons for their landscape to look even close to decent by today’s industry standards.

Microsoft Flight Simulator – Aviat Husky A-1C DLC Released by Microsoft; Price Revealed

2 years 8 months ago

Usually, releasing new aircraft for Microsoft Flight Simulator is left to third-party developers, but Microsoft is occasionally launching its own DLC.

This is the case with the Aviat Husky A-1C that has just been launched today, similarly to the Top Rudder Solo 103 ultralight.

The pricing has also been revealed, and it’s $14.99 or €14.99 depending on where you live. The package doesn’t include just the aircraft (in four versions, standard, tundra wheels, floats, and skis), but also ten colorful liveries.

This reproduces the most powerful version of the Husky, certified in 2007 and equipped with a 200 hp engine that makes it the ideal aircraft for exploration.

Since this is released directly by Microsoft, it’s available both for PC and Xbox Series X|S.

Below you can see what it looks like in a trailer. I added a few screenshots of the cockpit since the trailer doesn’t show it.

It’s worth mentioning that we already know that Microsoft will also release a Junkers Ju 52 soon (it was announced for this month) and an ATR 42/72 next year.

Fortnite 17.30 Update Adds Burst Pulse Rifle, Grab-Itron, New Cosmetics, LTMs & More

2 years 8 months ago

The Fortnite 17.30 update has just arrived, adding a new Burst Pulse Rifle weapon, a slew of new cosmetics and LTMs, and given Human Bill a fresh new look.

The news comes via popular dataminers iFireMonkey and HYPEX over on Twitter. Most interesting of the additions that have been uncovered so far is the Burst Pulse Rifle. This, as the name suggests is a pulse rifle that’s been modified for burst firing. Aiming down sights allows you to fire off slower and more accurate shots, or you can spray from the hip.

That’s not the only new weapon to arrive in this update. The Grab-itron has also arrived, allowing players to grab items and send them flying in another direction. The short trailer for the weapon below best highlights how the weapon can be used.

Tribes of Midgard Surpasses the 250K Player Mark With 40K Giants Defeated Within its First Week

2 years 8 months ago

Tribes of Midgard is probably one of the best co-op multiplayer games we’ve seen in 2021 so far. Players can either play solo, or get in groups of 10 to explore a gorgeous world while scavenging for resources and protecting their village from incoming Helthing invasions. The game’s seen quite a bit of success since its launch last week, as it’s now surpassed 250,000 players.

According to Norsfell, more than 250,000 players have jumped into the game in an attempt to hold off the Jotunns, and more than 40,000 Giants have already been slain since its launch. That’s a pretty impressive number, especially when you consider how threatening the Giants can seem during a first playthrough.

NieR: Automata and Undertale to Get Added to PS Now Lineup this Week

2 years 8 months ago

The PlayStation Now subscription service might have had a rocky launch, but it’s gotten steadily better as Sony’s improved its offerings over the course of the past couple years. Announced via the PlayStation Blog today, the PS Now lineup is about to get even better with three new games getting added on Aug. 3.

The three games getting added this week are NieR: Automata, Undertale, and Ghostrunner. Ghostrunner is a very frenetic, fast-paced action game where you must make your way up a tower while slicing through foes with a stylish-looking katana. You can take down enemies pretty easily, but you’re also fairly fragile yourself.

NieR: Automata was released back in 2017 to critical acclaim, and is widely regarded as one of the very best games released that year. It follows the story of an android named 2B, whose job is to rid the Earth of machine lifeforms so that humans can return to Earth from the moon. There are, of course, twists and turns in the narrative, supplemented by a fun combat system from Platinum Games.

And finally, Undertale needs no introduction at this point. It’s developed a very hardcore fan following since its release a few years back, and is constantly praised for its sense of humor, excellent soundtrack, and incredibly heartwarming story and unique narrative techniques.

All three games will be made available via PS Now on Aug. 3.

Strategy JRPG Relayer for PS5 & PS4 Introduces Venus, Dark Walker, Mecha Viewer, & More

2 years 8 months ago

Kadokawa Games had more images, videos, and details to share about its upcoming strategy simulation JRPG Relayer.

First of all, we get the introduction of two characters, Venus and Dark Walker.

Venus is part of the Asterism’s maintenance team. She’s actually a Star Child, but her aptitude for GY Particles is low, so she’s not a pilot and helps out as a mechanic instead. She appears to be frustrated because she cannot fight.

Dark Walker is one of the Pillars among the Master Relayer. While she attacks humanity and the Asterism, she appears to be acting with different values compared to the other Relayer. Her words and actions may prove to be particularly interesting.

Both characters are played by Arisa Noto, who also played Wakako Shiba in Root Film, Cui in Fairy Fencer F, and Nem in Omega Labyrinth Life. We get to see her introduction in one of the videos below.

The second video will be rather exciting for mecha fans, as it shows the mecha viewer that you can access in the game. It allows you to take a look at all the Stella Gear and Dark Gear that make an appearance and at all their animations in 3D.

The last screenshot showcases the Stella Gear customization menu. You can select weapons, armor, shields, and custom chips.

Charybdis Revealed To Be the Newest Smite Playable Character

2 years 8 months ago

Charybdis, the ancient Greek mythological monster, has just been revealed to be a new Smite God in its already giant roster of playable characters.

For those who aren’t in the know, Charybdis is a giant sea creature that is often alongside the sea monster Scylla (who is also a playable character) and has been featured in several epic battles between legendary Greek heroes.

It looks like Titan Forge Games took creative liberties when designing Charybdis. She is shown as not a giant worm-like creature which is her usual depiction but leans more towards a human personification of the beast. They’ve even gone so far as to give her armor and heterochromia. They did manage to keep some of her mythos intact by showing her attacking wandering ships and Roman soldiers in her trailer.

Charybdis’ reveal trailer can be found here:

If you’re interested in learning about which SMITE Gods could give you the upper hand, check out our list where we rank some of the best Smite gods you can find in game. Charybdis herself will be playable in SMITE somewhere around August.

2K Games Will Announce “Exciting” New Franchise This Month; It Will Debut by March 2022

2 years 8 months ago

During Take-Two Interactive Software’s financial conference call for investors and analysts, the company’s executives teased a new announcement coming soon.

According to present Karl Slatoff, the company’s brand 2K Games will announce this month an “exciting” new franchise that will debut during the current fiscal year.

This means that the game will launch by March 2022.

Interestingly, Chief Financial Officer Lainie Goldstein also added later in the call that games not yet announced are expected to be among the biggest contributors for this fiscal year’s revenue along with the usual big games like NBA 2K, Grand Theft Auto Online, Grand Theft Auto V, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Red Dead Online.

This appears to indicate that take-two expects its unannounced games for this fiscal year to be rather big, and the new franchise to be revealed this month may be among those.

No further information has been provided about this new game, and we’ll have to wait and see what it is when the announcement is made later this month.

It’s worth mentioning that the company expects to release four “core releases” by March 2022, two of which have been shifted to later in the fiscal year earlier today.

Ryan Reynolds Reaches Next Level as ‘Dude’ in This Free Guy Clip

2 years 8 months ago

Ryan Reynolds’ upcoming video game movie, Free Guy, is almost here, leading to a slew of promotions coming from the actor’s official YouTube page to help everyone get hyped. You can see the most recent clip down below, which features a brand new antagonist named Dude.

In the trailer, we get a first look at the character Taika Waititi’s Antwan created as a means of opposing Ryan Reynolds’ character, Guy. At first glance, this blonde-haired, muscular, blue t-shirt tattoo-repping animal looks oddly familiar…really familiar, in fact.

Yes, that is right, Ryan Reynolds is not only going to be the protagonist of Free Guy, he is also going to be one of its primary villains. Alongside some small bits from the movie, the Next Level Reynolds video also gives us some added commentary from Reynolds playing Dude.

The video is definitely worth the watch as a result of this, as there are parts of it that won’t appear in the movie and were shot solely so the actor could ham it up as this character. Free Guy will be available in theaters later this month, Aug. 13.

The Lord of the Rings Amazon Prime TV Show Set to Begin Sept. 2022

2 years 8 months ago

Earlier today, the LOTRonPrime Twitter account — the official Twitter account for the Amazon Prime version of The Lord of The Rings — revealed a brand-new teaser photo along with the planned release date for episode one of this new adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s most well-known work.

Thanks to this post we know that the Lord of the Rings will begin on Sept. 2, 2022 on Amazon Prime. And despite only a single image accompanies the post, there is much to see.

The brightest spot in the image is almost certainly Laurelin, The Gold Tree. And if you look very closely, you’ll also spot Telperion, The Silver Tree, right next to it. The foliage, dew, and fruit of these massive trees brought light to Valar before the Sun and Moon were created from the two as they died.

Since both gigantic trees are shining simultaneously in the image, it could be inferred that this image is either during dawn or dusk.

But that’s where things start to get interesting. As of right now, there has been no official indication about what part of Tolkien’s mythology this show will take place within. The Trees of Valinor existed well before the story of Frodo’s journey, so that could mean any number of things.

It could be that this show focuses on a time in this world that we’ve never seen put to film yet or it could simply be a flashback. There’s no way to tell for sure at this point in time.

12 Things You Didn’t Know About Animal Crossing

2 years 8 months ago

The First Game Was on the Nintendo 64

Dobutsu no Mori (Animal Forest)

If you thought the first Animal Crossing game was on the GameCube, you’d be mistaken. The very first release was actually on the Nintendo 64. It was called Dobutsu no Mori (Animal Forest) and was exclusive to Japan at the very beginning of 2001. In fact, it was one of the very last games released for the N64 at the end of its life cycle.

This was an experimental title that ended up being re-released later on the GameCube due to its wild success. Since the N64 had no internal clock, the real-time clock had to be set manually, and it used an internal device within the cartridge to keep time ticking.

Take-Two Announces Financial Results Above Expectations: Delays 2 Core Games to Later in Fiscal Year

2 years 8 months ago

Today Take-Two Interactive Software announced its financial results for the first quarter of the fiscal year 2022, which ended on June 30, 2021.

Below you can check out a summary of the company’s performance.

  • GAAP net revenue was $813 million
  • GAAP net income per diluted share increased to $1.30
  • GAAP net cash provided by operating activities for the three-months ended June 30, 2021 was $148 million
  • Adjusted Unrestricted Operating Cash Flow (Non-GAAP) for the three-months ended June 30, 2021 was $29 million
  • Net Bookings were $711 million, above guidance
  • Company reiterates outlook for fiscal year 2022

That the results are defined above expectations, and while net revenue dropped slightly (2%) year-on-year, net income increased 72% year-on-year.

The press release also included a comment from Chief Executive Officer Strauss Zelnick, who boasted about the results above expectations.

He mentions that two of the company’s core games will ship later in the fiscal year (wich means they’re still coming by March 2022 at the latest) than previously expected.

For reference, in last quarter’s report, Take-Two announced that it would release four “core releases” of which two from new franchises by March 2022. This means that the number remains the same, but two of them will release a few months later than predicted.

“We began fiscal 2022 with positive momentum, which was reflected in our ability to deliver first quarter operating results which were above our expectations. During the period, we continued to invest in our future, including growing our creative teams and expanding our mobile business and expertise further.

Rainbow Six Siege ‘Containment’ Event Revealed; Features New Game Mode

2 years 8 months ago

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Extraction might have been delayed, but if you’re still in the mood for some alien-slaying mixed into your Siege then Ubisoft has just the event for you. Called Containment, the event is inspired by Extraction, sending players to a reworked version of the Consulate map overruled by the Chimera Parasite in a new game mode called Nest Destruction.

In Nest Destruction, players fight for control over an alien nest. Attackers will be given a two-tiered objective scenario: destroy the nest to open the final objective and win the round. On the other hand, to be the victorious ones, defenders will have to rely on melee attacks and Oryx’s Ramah Dash to stop their opponents.

The event will begin tomorrow, Aug. 3, and run for three weeks until Aug. 24. Midway through the event, Rainbow Six Siege will also be free between Aug. 13 and 15, in which time players can earn twice as many bonus Battle Pass points.

A press release sent to Twinfinite tees up the event’s story premise:

This event offers a tease into the world of Extraction in Rainbow Six Siege, where a team of REACT agents (attackers) will intervene to destroy Nests and will face a team of Proteans, a deadly Archæan variant that can adopt the form of REACT operators (defenders) and attempt to mimic their behavior with maximum speed and with melee attacks only. Defenders will be provided with additional Health, Aruni’s Punch, and Oryx’s special abilities, but will be weaponless for the whole game. Attackers will have a standard loadout without modifiers and only have access to a reduced Operators selection.

Apex Legends Interview: Respawn Talks Seer, World’s Edge, & Emergence Updates

2 years 8 months ago

Apex Legends Emergence is just a day away, and this Season 10 update is bringing plenty of big changes that’ll shake the game up in significant ways.

Twinfinite participated in a roundtable interview alongside a few other publications in order to find out more about what’s to come in this new season. Several members of the team at Respawn answered questions about Seer, World’s Edge map changes, the new Rampage LMG, and more.

Ethan: How did you decide which POIs to change in World’s Edge for this update? Because there are a lot of pretty significant changes to larger areas like Sorting Factory and Refinery.

Garret Metcalf (Senior Level Designer): So for the northern region, you found through data and just from playing the game a lot since Season 3 when World’s Edge dropped, that Refinery…people wouldn’t land there much. So we wanted to just kind of mix up the northern region and try and bring some more incentive for players to land there by creating a bigger POI and providing a lot more loot for squads to fight over.

And then, just overall, like for Sorting Factory, we just wanted to bring a fresh new gameplay experience like that kind of breaks away and brings something new from the preexisting POIs in World’s Edge. So Sorting has been there since day one and we thought it’d be nice to kind of change up one of the more popular, central POIs just to bring something new that stands out from everything else in the map.

Nippon Ichi Software Teases Mysterious (and Creepy) New Game

Today prolific Japanese developer Nippon Ichi Software opened a teaser website for a new game.

The tease is accompanied by two videos showing what appears to be a girl and a murder scene in a warehouse.

You can watch them below.

Nippon Ichi Software has provided no further information at the moment, and we don’t know when the full release will come. The company definitely loves teases like this, and they do it for basically every game they announce.

This one appears to be a horror or thriller game, and when I interviewed the developer’s president Sohei Niikawa a while ago, he did tell me that summer is pretty much the season of horror.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage is looking promising in its second trailer today, which puts the spotlight on the film’s titular villain, played by Woody Harrelson; in particular, the origins of his transformation from deranged psychopath to killer symbiote

As you’ll see, Cletus Kasady, who we were first introduced to at the very end of the first film, is very definitely a dangerous individual long before he gets a taste of Eddie Brock’s blood, but as Carnage he’s a whole different animal. Quite literally.

Check it out below.

For those not up to speed with Venom: Let There Be Carnage, here’s the film’s official synopsis:

“One year after the events of Venom , investigative journalist Eddie Brock struggles to adjust to life as the host of the alien symbiote Venom, which grants him super-human abilities in order to be a lethal vigilante.

Brock attempts to reignite his career by interviewing serial killer Cletus Kasady, who becomes the host of the symbiote Carnage and escapes prison after a failed execution.”

Fortnite’s Rift Tour Is Another Step Towards Its Metaverse Future

2 years 8 months ago

Last week, Epic Games announced the Fortnite Rift Tour, a new in-game event to help mark the beginning of the end of the current in-game season, featuring Ariana Grande as the headline (and possibly only) act. Much like last year’s Travis Scott experience, the event will feature an iconic pop star, some exclusive in-game items, and a bunch of quests for players to complete before, during, and after the event actually takes place.

If Scott’s Astronomical event from last year is any indication, Ariana Grande’s Rift Tour will feature plenty of trippy in-game effects and visuals to really emphasize just how cool and unique these digital experiences can be. R

Even I was rather impressed by the Astronomical event last year. As someone who doesn’t identify as a ‘fan’ of Scott’s music, Epic Games managed to craft an experience that was enjoyable regardless of whether you like the bone-rattling bass-y beats of the rapper, or the bars that he spits over the top of them, or not. It was psychedelic, unique, and a stark reminder of Epic’s ambitions and vision for the future of its live-service title.

You’ll notice I purposefully avoided referring to Fortnite as a Battle Royale title in that last sentence. Or maybe you didn’t, but I did! That’s because it’s becoming increasingly clear that Epic Games envisions Fortnite’s future as far more than a last-man-standing battle to the death. It’s slowly but surely edging ever closer to becoming a full-fledged Metaverse… even if it is in its very early stages.

Comiket 99 Organizers Aim to Bring Back in-Person Event This Winter

2 years 8 months ago

Today the Comic Market Committee announced on its website that preparations are ongoing with the aim to bring back Tokyo’s popular Comiket as an in-person event this year.

Comiket 99 should be held at the traditional Tokyo Big Sight venue in Odaiba, Tokyo on Dec. 30 and Dec. 31, 2021.

The latest edition of the event was its 97th, held in December 2019 and drawing 750,000 Fans of Games, Anime, Manga, Doujinshi, and Cosplay in a massive celebration of all things Otaku. It was just before the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic

The 98th edition in May 2020 was canceled, and since then there has been no Comiket in Tokyo.

This year, after consulting with the authorities and with the hope that the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine will make things safer, the organizers have decided to organize the event with the aim to bring it back to the physical world.

Of course, regulations to prevent infection will still be in place and attendance will be limited, and the organizers admit that the decision was taken based on the expectation of a slowdown of the virus. if the pandemic situation doesn’t actually improve, they may postpone the event again.

However, the decision to hold Comiket 99 was taken considering the situation of the world of doujinshi as a whole. The organizers believe that if they don’t start moving, the “place” called Comiket will never open again.

At the moment, we don’t know whether we’ll be able to be on the show floor like we were in 2019 to bring you a report, but we’ll certainly do our best.

The Gamerscore System Is Busted and Microsoft Needs to Fix It

2 years 8 months ago

In 2005, Microsoft’s Gamerscore system launched alongside the release of the Xbox 360, birthing a new community of gamers that would continue to thrive even 16 years down the line. These achievement enthusiasts would dedicate their gaming hours to driving up their Gamerscores by trying to unlock as many achievements as possible, across as many games as possible. Retail releases would have 1,000G worth of achievements to unlock, while Xbox Live Arcade titles would have 200G. In these 16 years, a lot has changed, some for the better, but mostly for the worst, and if Microsoft doesn’t step in to do some damage control, the achievement hunting hobby is doomed to die out.

In the formative years of Gamerscore, the rules for writing achievement lists were a lot more strict. A retail release could have 1,000 Gamerscore, and an arcade title could have 200G, and DLC/title update achievements could be added, but could not be of any value. Officially the first Xbox 360 title to be released, Kameo: Elements of Power has 24 0G achievements that were released with DLC packs, and the second Xbox 360 title, Quake 4, released with a bonus disk featuring Quake II, that had nine achievements worth 0G. Even though it was a different title entirely, it came with Quake 4 and thus couldn’t bring their total over 1,000G. That’s how strict the rules were.

Valorant Esports Saw Comeback Kids Steal Glory in NA & EU During Challengers 2

2 years 8 months ago

TSM fans have been waiting a long time for their Valorant team to find a spell of good form. After a blistering start to kick off the game’s esports scene in 2020, which saw them finish as runners up at First Strike and place well at several smaller competitions, it’s been one disappointment after another.

2021 has, quite simply, been a nightmare, with the team consistently failing to make it out of the qualifying stages of every VCT tournament over the first half of the year. For an esports franchise as big as TSM, funded by huge amounts of money and boasting some of the most popular personalities in the entire North American Valorant scene, their run of form was, quite honestly, disastrous for the organization.

Finally, though, they have something to cheer about. For the first time all year, TSM qualified for a VCT tournament. Not only that, but over the past weekend, they put together a brilliant string of dominant performances that saw them win the entire thing. Along the road to victory, they beat out some of North America’s best teams, including the likes of GenG, T1, and FaZe — teams that have competed at the very highest level of regional VCT tournaments throughout 2021.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, TSM once again looks like one of America’s best, potentially capable of challenging teams like Sentinels, 100T, and Envy for a spot at Masters 3 in Berlin later this year.

Only Diehard Fans Can Name These Iconic Horror Movies

2 years 8 months ago

Even though the scariest thing of all is growing up and having to deal with life’s numerous challenges, the next best thing is watching a good ol’ horror flick from the comfort and safety of your own living room. Yes, watching scary movies rules, and if you’re not a fan of those things that go bump in the night, then you’d best skedaddle — you’re in the wrong place!

Still here? Excellent. *rubs hands*

Welcome one and all to Twinfinite’s latest film quiz. Much like our recent creepy quizzes about horror movie icons and video game villains, we’ve decided to set our sights on the most iconic horror movies of all time. Instead of naming specific characters, though, we’re going to focus on naming the actual films instead.

That’s right, it’s time to have some fun trying to identify these horror movies with just a single image to go on. However, because we’re also really nice folks, we may give you a clue as to the year the film was released, and maybe even a hint as to what the sub-genre of said movie is.

If you think it’s going to be too easy, well, hold onto your zombified horses! Indeed, we may start off easy-breezy, but we’ll make sure to ramp things up and give all you hardcore gore-hounds an appropriate challenge by the time we wrap things up.

So, without further ado, grab your crucifixes and holy water, and come join us as we venture back into the shadowy recesses of one of the best genres in the world. Good luck!
