Speedrunner Beats Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice While Blindfolded

2 years 8 months ago

The Soulsborne community will never cease to impress, and if you thought you were good at FromSoftware’s Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, wait till you see what speedrunner Mitchriz has just accomplished.

After 100 hours of practicing and troubleshooting the run itself, he’s finally managed to clear the game while completely blindfolded. You can check out the run for yourself down below:

Relying purely on instinct, sound cues, and memory and knowledge of the game, Mitchriz was able to beat the game without needing to see anything. Of course, he also went for the Shura ending, which is the shortest ending in the game and also allows players to bypass some of the toughest players.

It’s an impressive feat nonetheless, as a run like this requires the player to have a good knowledge of the game in order to beat it completely blind.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is now available on PC and consoles.

2 years 8 months ago

Today Atlus released a large gallery of screenshots and artwork of the upcoming JRPG Shin Megami Tensei V.

Doggone Is a Cute Game About a Lost Dog Trying To Get Back Home

2 years 8 months ago

Doggone is a new indie game in development for PC by Raconteur Games, based on the story of a lost dog trying to find its way back home to its family. The developers made a post in their Twitter account announcing that the game can now be wishlisted on Steam. There’s no planned release date for now, as it’s listed in the store as “Releasing: When it’s ready”.

The game itself is a 2.5D platformer where the player gets into the role of said lost dog, solving puzzles and progressing through the world. The canine in Doggone has a special “smell-o-vision” ability that allows it to sniff out points of interest. He can also dig to reveal items and hidden collectibles. There are also just regular dog actions like barking and rolling around.

According to its developers, the game offers an adventure that takes some pages from classic movies like Disney’s Homeward Bound and an art style inspired by artist Eyvind Earle, known for Sleeping Beauty. The gameplay takes a bit from games like “Inside” with light platforming and puzzles, but it’s not as sad.

One thing that is made clear by Raconteur is that Doggone is a feel-good type of game. There’ll be an emotional roller coaster through the story, but there’s no violence against the dog and no sad ending. There’s even a small joke from a casual talk between the developers and Xbox’s Phil Spencer, where they guarantee it’s not going to be like “Old Yeller”.

Microsoft Flight Simulator F-35, F-104, Airbus H145, & Pilatus Porter Get New Screenshots & Videos; Great Britain Central & Jackson Hole Released

2 years 8 months ago

Third-party developers have released new assets and content for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

We start with IndiaFoxtEcho that provide a new look at the F-35 Lightning II alongside a development update.

“Still VERY preliminary… as the F-35B model is clearly not finished in these pics, but we thought they were too cool not to share them. … so here are the images of the first F-35B sea trials in MSFS!

The USS America is based on the ship we published for P3D in the past, and will either be included in the F-35B package or released as freeware. Currently, it is a static landable scenery object – at the moment it is placed not too far from NAS Point Mugu, but we think to place it in multiple locations around the globe in different configurations (should you have suggestions on where to place the ship let us know!!!)…

As for the F-35 itself, it is moving forward at a steady pace… F-35A external model is now finished (except the emergency tailhook), F-35 is 80% finished (cockpit and weapon bay doors missing) and while we have just started the conversion/improvement of the F-35C model.

The virtual cockpit is experiencing some delays…as we had to remodel a number of parts to achieve the level of detail we wanted. We cannot show it yet, but we are very happy with it.”

We get to see the new skits in 3D the let you discover different sides of the personality of each character. Not only they will portray any costume and accessories worn by your characters, but we also see how they showcase the time and pace when and where they happen.

Cutscenes are both in-engine and anime-style. The anime cutscenes underline the most important moments of the story.

Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker Sage Job Icon Changed To Avoid Triggering Trypophobia

2 years 8 months ago

Today Square Enix announced that the previously-showcased job icon for the new Sage job in the upcoming Final Fantasy XIV expansion Endwalker has been changed.

Apparently, the old design (which you can find here, at your own risk in cause you’re affected) was found disturbing by users affected by Trypophobia, which is the aversion to the sight of irregular patterns or clusters of small holes or bumps.

Today we learn directly from producer and director Naoki Yoshida that the design has been changed to what you can see above.

Below you can read the full message:

Regarding the Sage Job Icon

Now then, I’d like to share some news regarding the icon for the new sage job, which was recently revealed on the Endwalker special site.

When we released new details for sage and reaper on the special site, we also included their icons, not thinking that they were particularly big reveals. However, we soon received feedback from players all over the world, who told us that the sage icon made them uncomfortable or fearful.

This aversion is known as trypophobia, and those who have it feel disgust and fear when they see clusters of small holes or bumps. The severity of the reaction varies between people, and what triggers it in some may not do so in others.

NES, SNES or Game Boy Color – Can You Identify the Console From These Screenshots?

2 years 8 months ago

The Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), and Game Boy Color (GBC) were three of Nintendo’s earliest and most popular gaming consoles. Though they’re now considered to be retro gaming systems, they each helped pave the way to the consoles we know and love today.

In fact, it’s easy to forget how far gaming has truly come until we look back at these older consoles. Unless you grew up with these older games, it can even be difficult to tell which belonged to each system. If you know the differences between each of the consoles’ graphic capabilities, you may have an easier time correctly identifying which system a game released on, even if you don’t recognize the game itself.

Think you’re truly a Nintendo retro gaming expert? See if you can ace this trivia quiz. We’re going to show you a screenshot from a video game, but we won’t tell you the name of the game or what year it released. You have to take a look at the image and decide if each game shown here was released on the NES, SNES, or GBC just from the screenshot alone. Can you correctly identify them all? Good luck!

A Mortal Kombat Trivia Quiz to Truly Test Your Might

2 years 8 months ago

Few video game franchises boast such a storied history as the iconic Mortal Kombat. From arcade domination and its role in kickstarting the ESRB regulatory board to conquering Hollywood’s big-screen not once but twice after reascending to the top of the video game charts with its most recent game, Mortal Kombat is as recognizable as Mario and Sonic — all without the mascot gimmick.

It’s no surprise, then, that Mortal Kombat’s enormous fanbase spans both the old and young generations. It’s the sort of game you can imagine a dad playing in his man cave, just as you can a group of teens playing in their college dorm rooms until the early hours of the morning.

But does age truly mean wisdom when it comes to testing your might? Here we’ve compiled a Mortal Kombat trivia quiz to settle the score — one that should challenge experts young and old, from the most skilled of the new generation to the seasoned veterans who have been locked in since the 1990s. Ready? Fight!

Tribes of Midgard Review – Only Got 4 Minutes to Save the World

2 years 8 months ago

Tribes of Midgard on PC

After coming down from my month-long Valheim high, Tribes of Midgard seemed the perfect excuse to get lost in the incredible world of vikings once again, just from a slightly different perspective this time around.

Going into it, I wasn’t sure what to expect aside from a top-down, Diablo-like action game where I scavenge for resources, upgrade my gear, and fight cool bosses with friends. The game even starts you off at a stone circle spawn point when you load up the world. Just like Valheim, right? Except for one key difference: every second you spend in this world is crucial. Failure to understand that results in one of the most intense time crunches you’ll experience in a video game.

The mandatory tutorial that starts up when you boot up the game helps with introducing the basic mechanics, and it should all feel like familiar ground right from the get-go. You start with nothing on your person, and you can pick up flint and branches to craft axes, which then allow you to chop trees for wood and mine for ores like iron and silver. Gather enough of those, and you can start to craft weapons. And with weapons, you can fight enemies and animals for more materials to craft armor and other useful tools. You get the idea.

The path of progression is simple and straightforward enough, but Tribes of Midgard quickly throws a wrench into your well-laid plans by having Helthings invade your village every night. See, in the center of your village is the Seed of Yggdrasil, a legendary tree that you have to protect at all costs. Each night, a horde of Helthings will spawn outside your village and slowly make their way inside to try to attack it.

Mecha Strategy JRPG Relayer for PS5 & PS4 Introduces Akeboshi; More Progression Details Shared

2 years 8 months ago

Today Kadokawa Games had more assets, and information to share about its upcoming strategy simulation JRPG Relayer.

First of all, we meet Genjiro Akeboshi, nicknamed the “Meisei Maintenance Manager” due to his old-fashioned ways. He’s responsible of the maintenance of the Stella Gear mecha on the Asterism. His skills are top-notch but he can be either quite harsh or kind with his team and his granddaughter venus.

We also get a video featuring his voice actor, Hideki Kojima, as he introduces himself to the fan.

On top of that, we get more information about progression. By unlocking stars on the starboard, which is basically a skill tree based on a character’s job, you can actually unlock not only skills but also passive perks like “HP+10.”

That being said, a perk that grants additional job points won’t be implemented. It was a point of contention in the developers’ previous game God Wars, as many players pretty much felt compelled to have it, limiting options.

Tales of Arise Gets New English Videos Showing Skits & More And Tons of Costumes Screenshots

2 years 8 months ago

Today, during a livestream hosted by the vTuber Takanashi Kiara, Bandai Namco introduced a few videos of Tales of Arise in English.

We get to see an example of a skit and camping, also hinting to fishing and farming. The second video shows cooking and its results.

The third video showcases Kisara as she talks about her favorite activity, fishing. The fourth video focuses on dialogue between Alphen and Rinwell.

Incidentally, those are similar to the videos showcased earlier today, but in English instead of Japanese, so you can see both versions.

Last, but not least, we take a look at a lot more screenshots of the costumes coming with the limited editions. Interestingly, we also see how most of the costumes have three color variations.

Sullying Tom Clancy’s Name Might Not be XDefiant’s Only Issue

2 years 8 months ago

Ubisoft is in the midst of a major transition. Once a bastion of content-rich single-player games across multiple different genres, from Ghost Recon to Assassin’s Creed, the company’s portfolio is fast becoming almost exclusively a selection of “live-service” multiplayer experiences — a change in strategy likely sparked by the immense commercial success of Rainbow Six: Siege and The Division. And earlier this month, Ubisoft announced the impending arrival of yet another of the same ilk: Tom Clancy’s XDefiant.

Hardcore fans of Tom Clancy video games, which have traditionally been grounded in gritty military realism and tactical gameplay, already seem upset by XDefiant. Its debut trailer, which hasn’t enjoyed a positive reception based on its like/dislike ratio, showcases a fast-paced, arcadey shooter complete with Overwatch-like abilities and colored by a similarly bombastic line-up of hero personalities. These are all in vogue and, honestly, predictable design choices for a contemporary shooter, but none that represent the hallmarks of Tom Clancy in any way, shape, or form.

When you consider the celebrated lineage of Tom Clancy games, which were original stories but still felt authentic and genuinely connected to the author’s beloved universe, it’s not difficult to understand why some perceive XDefiant as a betrayal of everything that it means for a game to be affiliated with the Tom Clancy brand.
