5 Things I Still Hate About The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD

2 years 8 months ago

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD was released earlier this month, and as far as remasters go, it’s a great effort.

Several big changes were made to the game, including an entirely new control scheme to allow for button controls instead of mandatory motion controls. In addition to enhanced visuals and audio, there are also plenty of quality-of-life improvements that weren’t present in the original game.

Although Skyward Sword HD is a standout game with more positives than negatives, there are still several things that annoyed me while playing it. Some of these could have been straightforward changes, while others would have taken a lot more time and effort to fix.

In any case, here are five things I still hate about Skyward Sword HD that I wish could have been different.

Kate Bishop Enters the MCU in Hawkeye, Coming to Disney+ Nov. 24

2 years 8 months ago

Earlier today Entertainment Weekly (Christian Holub) published an exclusive first look at the upcoming Disney+ program, Hawkeye. The article talked about the introduction of Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) to the MCU and featured a couple of informational tidbits via Jeremy Renner.

But first here’s a quick rundown for the uninitiated in the world of the MCU. Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) aka Hawkeye is one of the founding members of the Avengers, a group of superheroes that protect the Earth from certain destruction.

Fast forward to today, and a few members of the old band have moved on or been killed off like Black Widow (Scarlett Johannson), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), and Captain America (Chris Evans). These former members of the Earth’s mightiest heroes are now passing the torch to the next generation, and it looks like a new sharpshooter is stepping into the ring.

But first, Hawkeye will need to impart all of the knowledge he has to Kate Bishop. Apparently, Bishop is just a massive fan of Hawkeye, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they always get along. As Renner puts it, “She has a wonderfully annoying and equally charming manner about her, because she’s such a fangirl of Hawkeye.”

Despite Bishop’s fangirling over the Avenger’s best (and only) archer, Renner explains that surface-level characterization grows deeper as the series goes on. He also mentions that, “…the biggest problem for Clint is Kate Bishop and the onslaught of problems that she brings into his life.” It’s currently unclear exactly what Renner is referencing, but it will likely become apparent as the story unfolds.

Ninja Explains Why the UFOs are Ruining Fortnite

2 years 8 months ago

In his latest YouTube video, Ninja explains why he feels the UFOs introduced in Chapter 2 Season 7 have been ruining the Fortnite experience.

After being abducted into one of the Abductor UFOs that fly overhead a few named locations on the map each match, Ninja talks about how the Vault Orbs that players need to collect in the time limit are making it far too easier to have an incredibly powerful loadout.

After a rather disappointing performance in the mothership mini-game with his teammate CouRageJD where the pair only managed to get ‘Uncommon Vault Tier Access,’ Ninja talks about the problem with the minigame and the rewards you get.

“You don’t have to do it, but like dude, if we got the gold bro, we would have had a full gold loadout and it’s disgusting.”

While Ninja makes a valid point regarding just how many legendary rarity containers players get access to if they’re able to get all five Vault Orbs in the mini-game, this only happens once per match, and it can be difficult to obtain all five of orbs when competing with other teams.

Jodie Whittaker Stepping Down From Lead Role in Doctor Who; Showrunner Chris Chibnall Also Leaving

2 years 8 months ago

For fans of iconic British sci-fi TV series, Doctor Who, we may have some bad news for you. According to a new report from The Hollywood Reporter, Jodie Whittaker – the 13th Doctor, and the first ever female to play the titular Time Lord – is set to step down from her lead role. In addition to this news, long-time showrunner Chris Chibnall is also bowing out from the popular time-bending franchise.

Thankfully, there’s still a six-part series which will air later this year, as well as a trio of Doctor Who specials scheduled to drop in autumn 2022. In other words, at least both Whittaker and Chibnall will be able to give fans a final swansong before they officially leave the show.

Interestingly, Jodie Whittaker made a statement to THR looking back at her experience acting in Doctor Who, saying:

My heart is so full of love for this show, for the team who make it, for the fans who watch it and for what it has brought to my life. And I cannot thank Chris enough for entrusting me with his incredible stories. We knew that we wanted to ride this wave side by side, and pass on the baton together. So here we are, weeks away from wrapping on the best job I have ever had. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to express what this role has given me. I will carry the Doctor and the lessons I’ve learnt forever.

I know change can be scary and none of us know what’s out there. That’s why we keep looking. Travel hopefully. The universe will surprise you. Constantly.

Clearly, Whittaker sounds like she had a blast playing the eponymous Time Lord, and looks back fondly on her time-travelling TARDIS days.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Teaser Reveals Megumi Ogata Is Voicing Yuta Otobone

2 years 8 months ago

Earlier today, a brand new teaser for the upcoming anime film Jujutsu Kaisen 0 gave fans a glimpse into what they can expect from the feature, including a reveal that Megumi Ogata is voicing Yuta Otobone. You can check out the trailer below.

While brief, the video does give us some insight into the relationship between the characters on screen, as well as what can be expected for the tone of JuJutsu Kaisen 0. This news came directly from the official website, featuring input from the original author, Gege Akutami, as well.

When talking about Yuta Otoko’s voice, Akutami said “It is neutral, soft, and kind, and there is also a large range of emotional fluctuations and heads.” He also mentioned that he felt Megumi Ogata was the ideal example of who should play the character when thinking of who should play the character.

Like the show, the film will derive its source material straight from the manga, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, which was released earlier this year. Viz Media provided the following description of its story:

Crimson Desert Has Been Delayed Indefinitely

2 years 8 months ago

Between its awesome cinematic reveal and a very compelling gameplay trailer last year, South Korean developer Pearl Abyss’s Crimson Desert looks like one of the most promising upcoming MMORPGs in years. Unfortunately, though, we’re going to have to wait a little longer for its release. The studio has explained in a Tweet today that Crimson Desert has been delayed until further notice; no new launch date or window was specified.

The reason for its delay is simply explained as the team deciding it needs to “dedicate more time to adding new ideas for an even deeper, more enriching game.” It states that a new launch date will be disclosed at some point in the future. You can read the full message below.

While it isn’t likely to take much of the edge off today’s disappointing news, check out the beautiful screenshots of Crimson Desert that were revealed following its gameplay trailer back at The Game Awards last year if you haven’t already. There were also two videos released subsequently that include developer commentary and provide a decent overview of the game, which you can watch here.

Free Content Update Coming to New Pokemon Snap, Adds New Areas and Pokemon

2 years 8 months ago

The official Pokemon YouTube channel has released a trailer showcasing a free content update that will soon be making its way to New Pokemon Snap. This update will add new three new areas to the game as well as a bunch of extra Pokemon to take photos of.

In the first half of the trailer, we get a montage of all of the greatest moments that are currently in the game, and the Pokemon Company thanks us for all of the memories we’ve created. Then, the trailer transitions to the upcoming content, and we get to see a glimpse of the new courses and Pokemon we can expect to encounter.

One of the new areas is the lush Mightywide River with both day and night cycles with Pokemon such as Tropius, Feraligatr, and Gyarados. Another new area within the nature park takes you through Secret Side Path and shrinks down your NEO-ONE vehicle to become incredibly tiny, so Pokemon like Shroomish seem huge in comparison.

The final new area seems like a canyon-type course called the Barren Badlands, where there are geysers and gas-spewing swamps. We see Pokemon like Swallot here.

We also spotted some additional popular Pokemon in the trailer such as Psyduck, Rockruff, and Snorlax in these new areas. It seems like there will be at least 20 new Pokemon added in total for us to take photographs of.

This content update for New Pokemon Snap will release in just a few days on August 3. It will be available to download for free. New Pokemon Snap is available for the Nintendo Switch right now, and you can read our review of the game right here.

You can watch the free content update trailer in its entirety below; see how many new Pokemon you can spot.

The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles Is a Fun Twist on the Sherlock Holmes Myth

2 years 8 months ago

Set in late 19th century Japan and Britain, The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles is so far removed from the main series in terms of time period that you’d be forgiven for excluding it from the series’ canon entirely. Along with introducing players to a whole new cast of characters, setting the games in a different time period also gives Capcom the creative leeway to experiment with new ideas and mechanics. And this is where Sherlock Holmes comes in. I mean, Herlock Sholmes.

While he is just a supporting character as Ryunosuke and Susato take the main stage, Herlock Sholmes plays an important part in all of your investigations throughout the course of Great Ace Attorney Chronicles. We often see him portrayed as a master of deduction in various other games and media, and that’s no different here. Except, while he may appear as an infallible galaxy brain-style thinker in other mediums, he’s been knocked down a peg or two in the Ace Attorney universe.

Whenever Herlock and Ryunosuke encounter a witness who’s clearly hiding something, the former immediately launches into a segment he calls the Logic and Reasoning Spectacular. During this comical segment, he flips his cap and snaps his fingers while presenting his theories and observations about said character, and draws conclusions from there.

The Ascent Review – Falling Short

2 years 8 months ago

The Ascent on PC

December 2020 brought with it one of the biggest disappointments in recent video game history. CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 promised us a futuristic, cyberpunk universe, teeming with things to see and do. Performance problems aside, it somewhat delivered on this vision, but it still left many with a bitter taste in their mouths. Seven months later and the dust has settled, and now it’s the turn of Neon Giant’s The Ascent to try its hand at satiating our cyberpunk cravings.

I’ll note now that, for the vast majority of my time with The Ascent, I played in single-player. The game does allow for co-op multiplayer both with friends and strangers online, but due to low player numbers during the review period, playing online multiplayer proved to be incredibly difficult. As such, the opinions and criticisms shared in this review are largely based on my time exploring Veles solo.

Taking place in the cyberpunk world of Veles, you’re an ‘indentured’ citizen. Essentially a slave to a corporation with little to no rights, you live your life down on the lower levels of this towering, layered world. The more affluent and ‘free’ people live at the top, and both your affluency and social standing are lower the further down you are. Corporations battle it out for control of technological assets across Veles, and it just so happens ‘The Ascent Group’ has recently shutdown for unknown reasons, putting the survival of your district at risk. With your (and many others’) life on the line, you embark on a new mission to find out what caused this sudden downfall.

Capcom Announced Record Financial Results Driven by Resident Evil Village & Monster Hunter Rise

2 years 8 months ago

Today Capcom announced its financial results for the first quarter of the fiscal year 2021, which is related to the period that ended on June 30, 2021.

You can find the overall results for the company below, with net sales growing 104.1% year-on-year and operating income growing 120.4% year-on-year.

This marks a new record on both fronts for the company in a first quarter of the fiscal year.

The digital contents segment, which includes games, took the lion’s share of the company’s results, with 43,918 million yen in sales (+104.5 YoY) and 24,455 million yen in operating income (+107.2%).

Among the driving factor for the excellent results this quarter, Capcom cites the release of Resident Evil Village, which “performed well,” passing 4.5 million shipments.

Monster Hunter Rise is also cited, despite the fact that it was released during the previous fiscal quarter. According to Capcom, it “continued to see growth in sales volume thanks to its enduring popularity.”

Digimon Survive 2022 Release Window Hinted At in Financial Report

2 years 8 months ago

Digimon Survive seems to have had its release window moved to 2022, according to TOEI Animation’s most recent financial report, as spotted by Gematsu. The game was planned for a 2021 release and publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment has not announced any changes yet, but according to TOEI’s report it’s now planned for Fiscal Year 2022 on Q3 and beyond, which covers between October 2022 to March 2023.

The game, developed by Witchcraft studio, was originally planned for 2019 and has been moving its release window year by year since then. The main factor mentioned by producer Kazumasa Habu in the official Twitter account @digimon_games in 2020 was how the pandemic affected development on Digimon Survive. It also promised new information in Spring 2021, but the account has been silent since October 2020.

When Digimon Survive does come out, it’s planned to release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch. In Japan, there’ll only be PS4 and Switch versions.

Lost Judgment Gets Tons of Screenshots Showing Minigames, Play Spots, Features, & a Good Boi

2 years 8 months ago

Today Sega released a massive gallery of screenshots of the upcoming action game Lost Judgment, sequel of the popular Yakuza spin-off Judgment.

We start with more clubs within the School Drama part of the game, and specifically with the Boxing Club, which Yagami will join in order to investigate one of the students. There he will also experience an unexpected reunion. Boxing is similar to normal fighting, but has different rules.

Next is the Bosozoku community, which I guess could be translated with “motorcycle gang.” It’s a Japanese subculture focused on custom motorcycles and often associated with delinquency.

Of course, this involves a racing minigame. You can select among four different bikes with different performance and appearance and each can be modified.

Yagami will also find out that a student goes to a girls’ bar while lying about his age. Obviously, he’ll follow suit. At the bar, you can enjoy interacting with the girls and talking with them. By choosing the right answers during the conversations, the friendship with the girls will be enhanced. Ordering cocktails and playing darts with them also has a similar effect.

As you become more intimate with each girl, you’ll learn about their true selves and their worries, aiming to become a regular at the bar.

Another community Yagami will join is dedicated to skateboarding, where he will be able to showcase his skills.

He will also have to investigate a secret casino, the eSports club, and the photo club.

More images showcase the gadgets Yagami can use during his investigations. The Buzz Researcher lets you hack into someone’s social media and find out about problems to solve, improving your reputation as a detective.

The Sound Collector lets you detect far-away sounds that can lead to more relevant events in town.

Cris Tales Review – If I Could Turn Back Time

2 years 8 months ago

Cris Tales on PC

Cris Tales is one of the most colorful and charming games to release in recent memory. It’s no surprise that in a short burst, such as a preview, Cris Tales is highly capable of impressing. Sitting down for the actual full experience, though, is a different story.

While Cris Tales never ceases to be cute and is a feast for the eyes, questionable decisions in the gameplay do rear their ugly head and detract from what could have been a very unique and fun-to-play RPG.

Editor’s note: It’s worth noting that the Xbox version of Cris Tales is suffering from a very frustrating bug that requires the player to constantly turn their controller on and off to solve. You can read more about this here. While it’s a known issue that the developers are working to resolve, we recommend avoiding the Xbox version of Cris Tales entirely until the bug is fixed. This review will instead cover the other functioning versions of Cris Tales.

Cris Tales follows the story of Crisabell, an orphaned girl with a cheerful demeanor despite living in a fragile world that is threatened not only by dangerous monsters but also greedy humans that are capable really screwing up the planet and creating a negative future.

Fortunately, Crisabel learns early on in the story that she is a fabled time mage, a person with the ability to see both into the past and future and, armed with this knowledge, can do things in the present to change the future for the better.

Early on in the trailer, they reiterate how important the ten rings are to Shang-Chi’s family. You can hear Shang-Chi’s father (Wenwu) talking about how they give them power while the video shows Wenwu going to town on whole armies with thanks to the ten rings.

Throughout the rest of the trailer, there are numerous intense action shots feating Shang-Chi taking on goons while the voiceover focuses on the internal struggle of the hero. That being the fact that Wenwu is a bit of an antognistic force in the world. Despite the immense pressure from his father, Shang-Chi doesn’t want to follow in his footsteps down the same path of evil.

Near the end of the trailer when Shang-Chi is facing down Wenwu, you can see a few rings around the hero while his father still appears to have all ten rings. It’s unclear what these extra rings are something different or if it’s just a bit of trailer editing showing multiple different shots out of order.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings releases in theaters only on Sept. 3. The movie will also come to Disney+ at least 45 days after that. However, there’s currently no set release date for the movie on Disney’s streaming service. You can check out the latest trailer for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings down below.

Amazing Metal Gear Solid Snake Figure Created Based on Famous Yoji Shinkawa PS1 Design

2 years 9 months ago

Over the years, Metal Gear Solid and its characters have been responsible for a lot of pretty awesome designs. From Quiet to Revolver Ocelot, just about every person in the series has a unique and interesting look to them. Despite all this time, though, no look will ever be as iconic as Yoji Shinkawa’s depiction of Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid back on the PS1.

The green and white camoed image of Solid Snake has become synonymous with the series all these years later, as new and old fans alike have likely seen the artwork. To commemorate Shinkawa’s amazing work, one Twitter artist went out of their way to create an equally stunning action figure of the renowned image.

Get Packed Devs Talk Fully Loaded’s Development Ahead Of Tomorrow’s Launch

2 years 9 months ago

The couch co-operative party game genre has enjoyed a welcome boon over the past five or so years, and UK publisher Coatsink has been right at the heart of its resurgence. From the whimsical combat of Gang Beasts to the family-friendly fun of PHOGS! and Cake Bash, it’s found tremendous success in supporting light-hearted, accessible multiplayer experiences. And with the launch of Get Packed: Fully Loaded from developer Moonshine Studios tomorrow, there’s yet another on the way.

Of course, Get Packed has already been out for over a year; the game launched as a Google Stadia exclusive back in April of 2020, but tomorrow sees the release of a new, enhanced version that includes a whole stack of new content. Better yet, it’s coming to PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms in addition to Stadia.

Following on from Twinfinite’s coverage of the original game last year, we thought it would be a grand idea to catch up with the team at Moonshine once again and hear about how they’ve been getting on over the past 18 months, and what we can expect from Fully Loaded later this week. Moonshine Studios co-founders Marcus Gardner and Jamie King joined me in in a Zoom call earlier this month.

“…when we launched on Stadia last year, it was right in the middle of the pandemic, so we had a remote launch that was much trickier than if we were in the office together,” Gardner explained to me in a Zoom call earlier this month.

“But the launch went very well,” he continued. “The Stadia community is fantastic. It was really nice to see a lot of the community get together and play online together. Since then, we’ve been working hard on getting the content that we promised out there.”

PlayStation 5 Sales Hit 10 Million as Console Becomes Fastest-Selling in SIE History

2 years 9 months ago

It’s no secret that Sony’s PlayStation 5 console has proven a huge commercial success, but today the publisher has confirmed a new sales milestone that really puts its popularity in perspective: the PS5 has now hit 10 million units sold, cementing its status as the fastest-selling console in the history of SIE

The news comes by way of an official article from Sony itself, written by senior vice president and global head of SIE business operation Veronica Rogers. There isn’t too much disclosed beyond touting the impressive tally itself, though Rogers does mention that PlayStation Studios has “accelerated the momentum of incredibly successful titles that showcase the capabilities of PS5.

That should come as music to the ears of fans who don’t have all too much to look forward to in terms of first-party exclusives until the launch of Horizon Forbidden West next year.

Again, today’s news of PS5’s success isn’t all too surprising given that the company had earlier this year declared that demand for the PS5 had been “Insatiable” with stock selling in seconds. That was during Sony’s Investor Relation Day in which CEO Jim Ryan also predicted fiscal year 2021 to be its strongest ever year, and 2022 to be even stronger.

The post PlayStation 5 Sales Hit 10 Million as Console Becomes Fastest-Selling in SIE History appeared first on Twinfinite.
