Microsoft Flight Simulator World Update 6 (Germany, Switzerland & Austria) Delayed to September 7

2 years 8 months ago

Today Microsoft and Asobo Studio announced with a development update that the upcoming World Update 6 for Microsoft Flight Simulator, which was scheduled for late August, has been delayed.

The delay (decided to ensure a “high level of quality”) won’t be long, as the update will launch on September 7, improving Germany, Switzerland, and Austria.

On top of that, a lot of improvements and fixes will also be included. Among those, we can expect the following. It’s worth mentioning that this isn’t the full patch notes, and more is coming.

STABILITY
-Several crashes have been fixed across the title

NAVIGATION
-Fixed ATC radar altitude so the ATC no longer asks you to change your altitude when it is not applicable -The VFR Map now displays information for latitudes beyond 75 degrees -New AIRAC cycle 2108 is now available

ACTIVITY
-Fixed crash in autosave in bushtrip missions when the user has a non-ASCII name

PLANES
-SR22 performance and fuel consumption has been modified to better match POH -Gyro Drift is now correctly set when Aircraft Systems assistance preset is set to Easy / Medium / Hard

WORLD
-“Offscreen terrain pre caching” graphics settings has been added (Low, Medium, High and Ultra). If set to Ultra, all the offscreen terrain will be cached at full quality which will reduce FPS drops and LOD popping when panning the camera but may impact overall performance -Maximum photogrammetry draw distance has been further increased. As a result, photogrammetry of downtown building areas will be visible from farther away -Cities at night are now more visible on the World map

Call of Duty Vanguard Revealed in Warzone, Coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, & More Nov. 5

2 years 8 months ago

Just as it was confirmed three days ago, the next title in the Call of Duty franchise was revealed live in their battle royale title, Warzone. But that wasn’t all of the news revealed about this new title. Call of Duty Vanguard will be set during WWII and feature four different playable characters in the campaign mode.

First, the reveal trailer for Vanguard went live in Warzone. The video shows off impressive graphics in the brief gameplay clips, but arguably the biggest news is that this game will take place across four different fronts of WWII with six different belligerent nations.

In Call of Duty Vanguard, players will be able to do battle in North Africa, Eastern Europe, Western Europe, and the Pacific. And the six different nations represented in this trailer are the Soviet Union, Nazi Germany, United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, and the United States.

Then shortly after the official reveal went live, the Call of Duty Twitter account posted the Vanguard reveal trailer along with more details about the upcoming game in the replies. This is where it was revealed that not only will Vanguard take place on four different fronts of WWII, but that there will also be a different playable character for each one.

The names of these characters are Sargeant Arthur Kingsley (United Kingdom), Lieutenant Polina Petrova (Soviet Union), Captain Wade Jackson (United States), Second Lieutenant Lucas Riggs (Australia). The Tweet revealing their names also teased the release of another campaign trailer next week.

Ghost of Tsushima Iki Island Review – Facing the Past

2 years 8 months ago

Ghost of Tsushima Iki Island on PS5

After a whirlwind launch last year that has seen it fondly remembered as one of the PS4’s best ever games, Ghost of Tsushima has become a gift that continues to give. First, the unexpected launch of a multiplayer mode called Legends, and now a meaty single-player expansion called Iki Island that releases as part of a fully-fledged Director’s Cut edition for both PS4 and PS5.

As one of the many who utterly adored the original game for its beautiful artistry and tactile gameplay, I couldn’t wait to see what the team at Sucker Punch had created with this second bite at the apple. What I found was the addition of a brief but engaging new story that weaves a few welcome new layers to the overall experience, though ultimately is a package that doesn’t stray far from the blueprint of the base game.

Iki Island sees Jin Sakai once again on the hunt for Mongols, this time over the sea to an island hostile to samurai for reasons beyond its invasion by a foreign army. It is an island inhabited by raiders, raiders who Jin’s father attempted to pacify many years before with his own ill-fated invasion, one that earned him the nickname ‘Butcher of Iki Island’ and ended in his untimely death at the hands of the criminals he sought to bring under control. All under the traumatized gaze of his son, who watched helplessly as his father was slain.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Video Is All About Music, Including Licensed Tracks & “Star-Lord” Album

2 years 8 months ago

Today Square Enix reached out via press release to share a new video of its upcoming Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy game.

Music has always been an important aspect of Guardians of the Galaxy, and it appears that the game is no exception.

The game includes an orchestral score, an all-star mixtape of licensed ‘80s tracks, and an original rock album. The orchestral score is composed by BAFTA-nominated composer Richard Jacques and recorded at London’s Abbey Road Studio.

The licensed tracks include some from Iron Maiden, KISS, New Kids On The Block, Rick Astley, and Hot Chocolate, with more that will be revealed down the line.

Last, but not least, we’ll finally get to hear the band that inspired the “Star-Lord” name in action, recreated specifically for the game.

In the video, we get commentary from Steve Szczepkowski, Senior Audio Director at Eidos-Montréal. The press release included an additional comment:

“Music is intrinsic to the Guardians’ franchise, and we wanted to make it focal to the gameplay experience. The soundtrack is infused in the DNA of the game, and our use of it goes far beyond usual expectations. Whether it’s powering up combat in the Huddle or bringing Star-Lord’s favourite band to life, every element was carefully woven into the lore to enhance the story of this rock and roll band of misfits.”

Goodbye Volcano High Gets Pushed Back to 2022

2 years 8 months ago

Originally revealed during the PS5 showcase event, Goodbye Volcano High gave us serious Life Is Strange vibes especially with the way the color palette looked. It was kinda Blackwell-esque, but with teen dinosaurs. We didn’t see all that much of the game, but it definitely looked interesting, and we’re always down for some teen spirit and angst.

Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the team’s decision to reboot the narrative, the game has been pushed back from a 2021 release to a 2022 one instead.

“In addition to Global Events™️, 2020 saw us rebooting the narrative of our game (you can read more about that below). Those two factors have delayed our release timeline. So we are making what we’re sure is by now an expected announcement: Goodbye Volcano High will be a 2022 title, not a 2021 one.
It’s been a really hard year for many reasons, and the mental and physical health of the team has to come first. We don’t want to crunch, and we don’t want to put ourselves in stressful situations to finish the game by 2021 when we can take a little more time.”

KO_OP

Considering that we haven’t really gotten that many details about the game since its announcement, the delay doesn’t feel too painful. Still, hopefully we’ll get to see even more of it in 2022 before its release.

Among Us Devs Speak Out Against Fortnite’s New Impostors Mode

2 years 8 months ago

Just this week, Epic released a new game mode for Fortnite titled Impostors, which was very clearly inspired by InnerSloth’s hit party game, Among Us, which in turn was taking cues from live party games like Mafia and Werewolf. With Among Us, however, InnerSloth put their own spin on it with the tasks system, which ensured that crewmates all had their own goals to work towards while the impostors work on sabotaging the ship.

In Fortnite’s new mode, it’s clear that they’ve taken many cues from Among Us; agents have assignments to tend to, while the impostors attempt to sabotage the facility and take them out as well. It certainly feels like a direct life of Among Us’ main gameplay loop, and the developers feel the same way.

Lost Judgment Gets New Screenshots & Details About Girlfriend, Sega Mega Drive Games, & Cases

2 years 8 months ago

Today Sega released another sizable batch of screenshots and details about the upcoming action game Lost Judgment.

First of all, we get to see the “side cases” that are requests that our hero Takayuki Yagami can take on besides the main story.

Among those we see one in which he has to keep a look on a boy on his “Hajimete no otsukai” (“First errand,” basically when a Japanese kid is sent shopping by themselves for the first time).

In another case, he has to take care of an apparently kind teacher who has a dark past and anger management issues.

There are also cases that can be found simply by exploring the city. One of those prompts Yagami to investigate the theft of Kappa statues destined to be an attraction for the town.

Another case that can be found with the “Buzz Researcher” gadget features someone who is impersonating Yagami himself to commit fraud and blackmail, prompting our detective to find the culprit to defend his own honor.

Other cases are triggered by meetings, like one that lets Yagami meet again with Iyama from the first game and learn how to make herbal medicines.

We also get to see our hero’s offices (one in Kamurocho and one in Isezaki Ijincho) where we can perform a variety of activities. You can receive investigation requests on the bulletin boards (once more, one per locations). You can play records that can be obtained by progressing in the story or clearing missions.

You can decorate the offices with items won at the UFO catchers or gacha machines. You can also check the delivery box where you will receive items from DLC.

Last, but certainly not least, you can play retro games on Yagami’s SEGA Master System and 14-inch CRT TV. Here’s a list:

Microsoft Flight Simulator F-35, Tutor T1, London Gatwick, Amami, Munich, Prague, St. Mary Airports, & Alaska Mesh Get New Screenshots & Trailers

2 years 8 months ago

Third-party developers have provided new assets showcasing plenty of new content coming for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

We get new screenshots and a development update from IndiaFoxtEcho about the the F-35 Lightning II.

“F-35B External model is now complete (apart from the usual minor fixes)… and we are quite happy with it.

As for the F-35A, this is basically a total rebuild of our P3D model: we have remastered the main texture to 8K, added a number of details, redone all the secondary textures with Substance and fixed some (minor) dimensional errors.

There is still a lot of work to do in the cockpit, avionics and flight dynamics departments… but so far it seems a decent product.

As flight dynamics, we have been able to reuse most of the code done by Rob Barendregt for the P3D version – STOVL works quite well at the moment and you can perform both vertical and rolling landings.

We have also swapped the model of the USS America with professionally made meshes, and went probably a little too far with the deck details (but performance is still good as we are in the middle of the Ocean). Needless to say, we’d like to include HMS Queen Elizabeth and Cavour – we will see if that will be possible. At the moment we are including USS Tripoli, placed as static object off the coast of San Diego, and USS America, not too far from NAS Iwakuni.

Catlateral Damage: Remeowstered Provides More Furballs Next Month

2 years 8 months ago

Today, it was a brand new trailer was revealed for Catlateral Damage: Remeowstered, revealing all of the new visuals and improved graphics we can expect alongside the original game. For anyone who has never played it, the game puts you in the paws of an annoying cat that loves to drop things on the floor, scratch curtains, and ride robot vacuums.

The game is a kind of physics sandbox in which players have to drop objects to cause damage, the way a cat would. Occasionally, you may need to drop certain types of objects to succeed or get power-ups to do more damage.

This new version of Catlateral Damage features visuals remeostered as the title suggests, a new interface, new animations, new modes, revamped soundtrack, and a complete progression redesign. You have Goals Mode, where you progress through the game to unlock new levels and modes, Litter Box Mode, which is basically a sandbox mode to relax with no time limit, and Procedural Mode, where stages are procedurally generated to always have a refreshing experience.

Twelve Minutes Review – Elegant in its Simplicity

2 years 8 months ago

Twelve Minutes on PC

The man comes home from work. He opens the door to his apartment, his wife emerges from the bathroom and greets him, saying she didn’t hear him come in. She says she’s prepared dessert for that night, the man tells her he’ll let her know when he’s ready to eat. He spies a knife on the kitchen counter and briefly contemplates stabbing his wife. There’s no coming back from this, he thinks to himself. If he does this, he’s a murderer. He puts the knife away, but then picks it back up again and stabs her. Slightly surprised at what he’s done, he calls emergency services with his wife’s cell phone. A few minutes later, a cop shows up to subdue him, and the man takes a punch to the face.

Then, he comes home from work.

Twelve Minutes is made up of a series of time loops with various events that will always occur in a set order. The evening always starts with the man coming home from work, there’s always dessert, there’s always a storm, and there’s always that damn cop who shows up at your door whether you like it or not. Those are constants that can’t be changed, but you can change how you react to them.

During my very first loop, I was curious to see just how much freedom the game was willing to give me, and I ended up stabbing the wife during that same run. Without any context for the story whatsoever –no setup, no introduction to the time loop or its characters, nothing– it was clear that the game was content in letting me shape the man’s evenings in any way I wanted.

New Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl Trailer Details New and Returning Features

2 years 8 months ago

Earlier today during the Pokemon Presents livestream, there was a massive trailer showcasing the upcoming fourth-gen remakes, Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Most of the content appeared to be the same as the DS games, but there were a few new features sprinkled in here and there.

The first trailer essentially just shows off everything from the original games that set them apart from the past and future generations. But a keen eye of a seasoned Diamond and Pearl fan may immediately notice something behind the player character.

It was essentially glossed over in this trailer, but the partner Pokemon feature will be returning in Briliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Another pair of DS games — Heart Gold and Soul Silver — brought this feature back years ago and it has shown up in random titles since then as well. It’s a feature that Pokemon fans often ask for when it’s not present in a game.

Another returning feature in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl is the Great Underground. Just like in the original games, the Sinnoh region has a massive underground cave system to explore where you can excavate items and build your own Secret Base. However, there’s a new wrinkle in this feature that wasn’t present in the original titles.

Pokemon Hideaways are hidden areas underground where you can encounter wild Pokemon. The creatures that appear in these areas directly correspond with the statues that you have in your Secret Base. And it was confirmed that certain Pokemon can only be found in these Hideaways. As of right now, there’s no indication which ‘mons will be only found in the Hideaways.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus Trailer Reveals In-Depth Look at Gameplay and Features

2 years 8 months ago

Pokemon Legends: Arceus received a brand new in-depth trailer during the Pokemon Presente event today. We saw a huge breakdown of information about the game and what we can expect as far as gameplay and features.

The game will take place in the Hisui Region, which is the ancient land that would one day turn into the Sinnoh Region. It’s a time when the lives of humans and Pokemon were still separate.

The goal of Pokemon Legends: Arceus is to work with the Survey Corps that resides in Jubilife Village in order to research Pokemon in the region and learn how they live by observing and capturing them.

We’ll start the game in Jubilife Village, the base area in the game that we can return to between adventures into the wild areas. You can start with either Cyndaquil, Rowlet, or Oshawott on your adventure.

Outside of Jubilife Village, the land of Hisui is untamed with roaming, hostile Pokemon. We see a pretty large variety of ecosystems in the region, and it is completely open for us to explore.

You’ll be able to sneak up on Pokemon to capture them with a Pokeball. If they are too difficult to catch, you can engage in battle with them by throwing a Pokeball with one of your own Pokemon.

Since the region in Legends: Arceus seems to be quite large, there will be other methods of travel besides walking, and two of these include new Pokemon.

First, you can jump off of a ledge to fly, similar to Breath of the Wild’s parasail or Skyward Sword’s Loftwings, by calling for a Braviary.

You can also swim through waters with Basculegion, a brand new Pokemon evolved from Basculin. Finally, you can ride on a Wyrdeer, which is an evolved form of Stantler. Growlithe also gets a cute new regional form (Hisuian Growlithe) with long fur growing over his eyes.

Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut Launch Trailer Builds the Hype

2 years 8 months ago

Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima was one of last year’s best games, and the developer has continued to build on its success since launch. First, with a brilliant (and unexpected) multiplayer add-on called Legends, and soon, a Director’s Cut and story-driven expansion called Iki Island will complete the package. Today, a launch trailer for the new edition builds the excitement ahead of its launch on Friday.

As you’ll see below, the trailer recaps a bunch of scenes that will be familiar to those who have played the original. But there’s also a glimpse at scenes from the Iki Island expansion, and it also alludes to new features and changes coming to Legends over the coming days. For a full rundown of everything coming in both the Director’s Cut and Legends, you can check out our recent report here.

In the meantime, here’s today’s launch trailer:

Twinfinite reviewed Ghost of Tsushima’s original release last year and absolutely loved it, scoring the game 4.5/5 and concluding:

New Dialga & Palkia Switch Lite Edition Coming in November

Today’s Pokemon Presents event has new franchise announcements coming thick and fast, and those excited about the release of the Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl remakes on Switch can look forward to special Dialga and Palkia Switch Lite editions. Both will launch on Nov. 5. There’s no information yet on the price.

As you can see in the image above, both are decorated with the art of the two legendary Pokemon. The design is a nod of the hat to the Nintendo DS Lite edition that was released in tandem with the original versions of Diamon & Pearl way back in 2006.

Biomutant Sales Hit 1 Million; All Dev, Marketing & Studio Purchase Costs Recouped Within First Week

2 years 8 months ago

The Embracer Group’s latest financial report has revealed that Biomutant, the post-apocalyptic open-world RPG that launched back in May, has now sold over 1 million units. Its success was such that the “full investment into development and marketing as well as the acquisition cost for Experiment 101 and the IP, was recouped within a week after launch.”

The game’s performance was cited as a key contributor to a stable quarter for The Embracer Group that has seen “organic year-on-year growth.”

Elsewhere, the company also announced that Iron Gate’s hugely popular survival game, Valheim, sold another 1.1m units between April and June, bringing its tally to over 8m copies since launch.

“Valheim has now sold over 8 million copies since its release and 1.1 million copies during the quarter which is in line with management expectations. Iron Gate, the small studio behind Valheim, has since the launch grown their team to a total of eight members and now work on a long term plan to further support and develop the IP.”

And it wouldn’t be Embracer without the acquisition of new studios; namely, Demiurge Studios, Fractured Byte, and SmartPhone Labs (via Saber Interactive). Demiurge is best known for its recent mobile games, but it also had a hand in the unreleased Wii U version of Gearbox’s notoriously bad Aliens: Colonial Marines.

You can read the full Embracer Group financial results for the quarter here. For Twinfinite’s review of Biomutant, it’s here.
