JETT: The Far Shore Gets October Release Date for PS5 & PS4

2 years 8 months ago

During Gamescom Opening Night Live, it was revealed that JETT: The Far Shore will be coming to PS4 and PS5 on October 5 this year.

The release date was revealed as part of a new trailer, showcasing more of the vast alien planet, its many NPCs, and some on-foot exploration as the protagonist uncovered new species of alien lifeforms and examined their findings.

The planet isn’t just the same old story all the way around, though. The release date trailer (included below) showcases some massive volcanoes in one biome, and endless stretches of icy terrain and meadows in others. You won’t just be stuck to exploring the planet in your ship, either, with the latest trailer showing off some on-foot exploration, too.

Your mission in JETT: The Far Shore is to simply chart the ocean planet, as you search for a mysterious ‘hymnwave’ that will help your species thrive and avoid extinction.

JETT: The Far Shore will release in October on PS4 and PS5 along the likes of Far Cry 6, Back 4 Blood and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. It may not be as large scale as these titles, but it’s certainly got a unique premise which is sure to help garner some appeal.

Death Stranding: Director’s Cut Adds a Good Dose of Tactical Espionage Action

2 years 8 months ago

If you had been longing for more Metal Gear Solid and less walking simulator in your Death Stranding experience, then it appears as though Hideo Kojima has you covered with the upcoming Director’s Cut edition. Beyond simply upgrading the graphics and adding one or two new delivery methods to aid Sam’s plight to reconnect America, there’s a whole stack of new stealth/combat-focused content that is very reminiscent of the iconic Konami franchise Kojima was once at the helm of.

As you’ll see in the trailer below, there are new “facilities” that feature firing ranges, which give players a chance to hone their stealth and combat skills. They seem to play out similarly to Metal Gear Solid’s VR training missions, encouraging players to train and compete to achieve the highest scores along the way via a new online ranking system. You can even replay boss encounters.

There are also new combat-driven story missions that take Sam into a mysterious cave, where he seems to be sneaking about knocking out enemy guards and gathering intel like it’s Shadow Moses all over again. Sign us up!

You can check out the footage for yourself below, which also details new delivery methods for Sam and some cool new songs to listen to along the way.

CrossfireX Finally Reappears at Gamescom 2021 Showing Off Maps, Game Modes, Characters, & More

2 years 8 months ago

It’s been quite a while since we last heard from CrossfireX. Aside from a brief beta, information about the upcoming joint venture between Remedy Entertainment and Smilegate has been sparse. That changed today at Gamescom 2021 as CrossfireX made an appearance to show players a bit of the game’s multiplayer mode.

The multiplayer is being developed by Smilegate, the original developers of Crossfire. CrossfireX will include a classic multiplayer option that fans of the original should feel comfortable with, along with two other currently confirmed game modes known as Spectre and Modern.

Classic Mode, for those unaware, is similar to Counter-Strike/Valorant objective-based gameplay and is the core mode that most players are familiar with. Modern, as the name implies, is more akin to a “Control” mode seen in many recently popular FPS games like Call of Duty and Battlefield. The trailer below gives a brief feel for these modes and the maps that will be making an appearance in CrossfireX.

New World Launches New Trailer at Gamescom Ahead of Rapidly Approaching Final Beta & Full Release This September

2 years 8 months ago

New World surprised many a few weeks ago when it ran its closed beta. It was mostly shocking because it was actually pretty damn good. It’s not a knock on the devs, but more about the fact that Amazon has had a terrible track record when it comes to producing games, but it seems like they might finally have a successful game on their hands with New World.

Ahead of the game’s final open beta, which will run from Sept. 9 to Sept. 12 and the game’s full release scheduled at the end of the month on Sept. 28, the developers have released another trailer giving players a feel for the world and plot of New World.

New World takes place in, well, a new world where pirates, marauders, and evil creatures lurk. It’ll be up to you to side with one of the three factions (Marauders, Syndicate, or Covenant) and try and carve out a successful and fruitful life, whatever that means for you.

Credit the developers for doing something a little off the beaten path as far as its setting goes. It’s hard for an MMORPG to stand out these days with titans like Final Fantasy XIV and World of Warcraft looming over them, but New World appears to be in as good a shape as one can reasonably expect heading into launch.

Riders Republic’s Beta is Live Now Through Aug. 28; New Trailer Shows Off Massive 50-Player Races & Rocket Wingsuiting

2 years 8 months ago

Riders Republic, the latest game from the developers that brought you Steep (Ubisoft Annecy), is approaching its Oct. 28 release and is engaging in a bit of beta testing. Announced today during the Gamescom: Opening Night Live, the beta for Riders Republic is open now on consoles and PCs through Aug. 28.

The trailer released alongside this announcement gives players a little taste of what to expect of they decide to jump in. Unlike Steep which was focused entirely on winter sports, Riders Republic still features a bit of that like snowboarding & skiing, but also mixes in bike racing, wingsuit flying, and rocket wingsuiting (sadly not a real sport). The races will be quite large and presumably chaotic, featuring up to 50 players at once.

We enjoyed Steep when it released way back in 2016, but felt it took itself a little bit too seriously. It had a good foundation, but it was overly complicated when it didn’t need to be. But we absolutely loved the exploration and chill vibes it gave off. Hopefully Riders Republic improves on Steep’s shortcomings and expands on what it got right when it releases on Oct. 28 for PlayStation, Xbox and PCs.

Splitgate Season 0 Revealed With a New Trailer During Gamescom 2021 ONL

2 years 8 months ago

Following the release of its updated beta to multiple platforms, Splitgate has fast become not just one of the arena shooter genre’s biggest hits but one of multiplayer gaming’s biggest new hits, period. 10 million players are now enjoying the awesome free-to-play shooter, which deftly combines Halo-like shooting with portal-esque traversal mechanics, and now a new season of content is dropping.

Called Season 0, it adds a brand new map, Karmen Station 3, as well as a new Infection gameplay mode, it’s set to keep the game’s momentum snowballing. Here’s the official word from 1047 Games via a press release:

Infection mode: a single-player, only equipped with a melee weapon, must infect as many opponents as possible by killing them. These return to play as infected, and must in turn infect other players to score points. The round ends when all players are infected. “Healthy” players are equipped with a shotgun and can earn points by eliminating as many infected as possible: there is always a way to score in this new adrenaline-filled mode!

A new map, Karman Station, also makes its appearance and is added to the big twenty maps already available. It transports players to the far reaches of space, in an open galactic universe as magnificent as it is dangerous. Sprawling and exposed, the center of the map crystallizes many issues, when the control tower is the ideal location for snipers. Watch out for corridors and other entanglements of rooms, which add variety and complexity to an environment generally geared towards team play.

It’s worth noting that servers have been offline for a while in preparation for the update.

Saints Row Releases This February; Will Reboot the Franchise

2 years 8 months ago

Today, Saints Row revealed a brand new trailer that showed what fans can expect from the next installment in the franchise. Instead of a sequel, the video below revealed that the franchise is actually getting rebooted.

After the trailer, there was a lot more information showed off, including the fact that the main character will no longer be custom created. Instead, The Boss will be played by Bryce Charles, with the goal of creating a criminal empire with her delinquent gang of friends.

The reboot will focus on similar elements, including plenty of chaos, but seems to be backing off from the cartoony, over-the-top antics the series became know for. From what has been displayed so far, it looks far more like the traditional Grand Theft Auto gang warfare style story and gameplay the first title in Saints Row featured.

‘Nine To Five’ Tactical Shooter Gets a New Gameplay Teaser During ONL Pre Show

2 years 8 months ago

Fans of the tactical shooter genre don’t often get treated to new games to look forward to, but there’s one on the way from developer Red Hill Games is readying one that should probably be on your radar. It’s called Nine to Five, and it’s just received a new trailer during Gamescom 2021’s Opening Night Live Pre Show.

If you aren’t up to speed with Nine to Five, it’s particularly interesting for its unique 3v3v3 round design. Here’s how the developer describes it:

Nine to Five is a new 3v3v3 team-tactics first-person shooter. Set in a future where corporations rule and being a mercenary for them is just another job, collaboration and smart teamplay is what gets the job done around here – not just pure reflexes.

In each intense shift, three teams of three battle against each other to complete their client’s objectives. How each phase ends influences how the next one starts – so you always need to be ready to adapt your approach.

Customize your rig to suit the task at hand. Play to your strengths. Or choose to support your team. Even if you have only 15 minutes to spare, Nine to Five gives you a chance to find your role in the team. The idea is to have fun – or die trying. Either way, there’s never a dull day at the office.

You can check out a glimpse of the action in the new trailer below.
