Ryan Reynolds will also be a part of the promotion by voicing his movie character Guy in Fortnite, where he delivers the classic line from the film saying, “Don’t Have a good day, have a great day!” Guy will be offering instructions to players on how to complete these quests. Life Is Strange: True Colors Switch Version Delayed to Later This Year

2 years 8 months ago

The official Life is Strange Twitter account has just stated that Life is Strange: True Colors will be delayed on Nintendo Switch. This announcement comes just a day after the news of the Remastered Collection being delayed as well.

According to today’s tweet, the Switch version of True Colors will still be coming later this year, but it won’t be launching on Sept. 10 with the PC, Xbox, and PlayStation versions. However, a new release date for the Switch version will be confirmed soon.

In the previous delay message, the Life is Strange team explained that having so many release dates set for September would be a bit too much to handle for the developers, especially while working in a pandemic, as True Colors, its Wavelengths DLC, and the Remastered Collection were all set to drop that same month.

PUBG’s Latest 13.1 Update Is Now Live For Consoles

2 years 8 months ago

If you’ve been waiting patiently for PUBG‘s new update, then we may have some good news for you. Yes, the popular battle royale has just received its 13.1 update and it’s available to download right now for PS4 and Xbox One. It’s worth noting, however, that the 13.1 update has been available to PC players since last week.

Specifically, the new update brings a lot of new features to the table including Emergency Landings at the start of some matches, a few small tweaks to the Taego map, a new ranked season, adjustments to the Sanhok map, and much more.

Of course, the biggest addition are those aforementioned Emergency Landings that can occasionally occur while players are waiting to drop into the map at the beginning of a match. That’s right, when players are in the plane, there’ll be times when the engine will explode, which will force the pilot to to make an emergency landing. If players decide to not jump before the plane lands, they’ll start the match with only 50 per cent HP. Sounds pretty risky, right?

For more information, here’s a rundown of PUBG’s 13.1 console-specific patch notes, as well as a video outlining the new tweaks and additions added in the latest update:

5 Reasons Stardew Valley Fans Should Keep an Eye on Lightyear Frontier

2 years 8 months ago

It Isn’t Full-On Farming Simulator-Style Realism

Within the farming sim genre, there exists a variety of games that have you “farming” but don’t all play similarly to each other. Stardew Valley very much falls into the old-school camp of top-down, grid-based farming sims that were popularized by Harvest Moon and then taken to a new level in recent years by Stardew Valley itself. Lightyear Frontier doesn’t fall into that camp exactly but isn’t trying to be something radically different either.

An interview that was released by IGN alongside the announcement of Lightyear Frontier shed a lot of light on what developers Frame Break and Amplifier Game Invest are looking to accomplish with their game.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: The Siege of Paris Review – Subverting Expectations

2 years 8 months ago

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: The Siege of Paris on PS5

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is easily one of my favorite games in the entire series. My review last year spent a great deal of time highlighting my love of its beautiful open world and the fascinating clash of different cultures who inhabit it. The improvements Ubisoft made to combat, stealth, and progression mechanics over Odyssey were also top-notch. But it’s far from perfect, and if there was one area in particular that bothered me throughout my playthrough it was the overly predictable nature of its gameplay loop.

Travel to a region to forge an alliance; sort out someone else’s problem, and help them siege a castle. Rinse and repeat. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla feels like a series of huge side quests loosely connected by a rather vague overarching narrative. In principle, I don’t actually dislike that structure –I enjoyed many of those stories and the character who brought them alive–, but it did go on, and on, and on. And I almost always knew the exact beat each quest would follow.

All with the exception of one storyline, however: The London missions, which dispensed with the siege mechanic for once and put the focus back on stealth and assassinations. More importantly, it all took place entirely within the confines of a large urban environment. Put simply, it felt like classic Assassin’s Creed, and I loved the change of pace.

The Suicide Squad’s Ratcatcher 2 Must Be Protected at All Costs

2 years 8 months ago

***The following article contains heavy spoilers for James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. If you haven’t seen it yet, come back after watching the film.***

It’ll never fail to be impressive just how good James Gunn is at taking obscure characters and turning them into stars. First, he made the Guardians of the Galaxy into household names, and now he’s making D-Grade DC villains in The Suicide Squad into lovable psychopaths.

Bloodsport is a better version of Deadshot; Peacemaker is an ironic foil to Bloodsport and is hilariously dark; Polkadot man can disintegrate people with polka dots by imagining they are his mother. Heck, even Joel Kinnaman’s Rick Flag character was a star in this one despite how terrible his character was in the 2016 version.

And yet, while I love just about everyone in The Suicide Squad, it was actually another character that stole my heart: Ratcatcher 2. Yes, the daughter of a no-named low-tier DC villain that controls rats was my favorite character.

Now, trust me, I know what your thinking, “Rats? No, thank you.” Outside of Ratatouille, I’ve never been too keen on rats either. Much like Bloodsport, the idea of interacting with or seeing one of these creatures simply makes me think of A Plague Tale: Innocence and the sheer terror of being overwhelmed by a horde of them.

Ironically enough, that does end up happening near the end of the film. Thanks to the way Ratcatcher 2 and her rag-tag group of buddies are developed throughout the film, though, seeing this happen actually wasn’t as terrifying as it sounds.

3 Reasons Loop Hero Is Another ‘Perfect Switch Game (TM)’

2 years 8 months ago

Announced during Nintendo’s Indie Showcase this week, Loop Hero is finally making its way to the Nintendo Switch. It was originally released for PC at the start of the year, and quickly garnered tons of praise and critical acclaim as one of the best indie games we’ve seen in 2021 so far. Now that it’s been confirmed for the Switch, here are three reasons why we think it’d be a great fit for Nintendo’s hybrid console.

Loops Are Around the Length of a Commute

loop hero

When the game first released, there was no way to save and quit in the middle of an expedition. However, the developers have since pushed out an update that allows you to suspend the game during an expedition, making it a great pick up and play experience.

Sure, you could always just put the Switch to sleep, but the suspend feature is great if you need to quit out of the game entirely.

This task is hard enough! Without further ado, let’s break down our picks for the best HBO shows of all time starting with something a bit more modern.

Which Aliens Character Are You? Take This Personality Quiz To Find Out

2 years 8 months ago

James Cameron’s 1986 sci-fi hit Aliens is easily one of the best Hollywood sequels to have ever graced the silver screen. Not only is it a terrific action-horror popcorn flick, but it also boasts an amazing ensemble cast of top-tier actors.

From the likes of Sigourney Weaver, Michael Biehn, and Lance Henriksen to Bill Paxton, Paul Reiser, and Jenette Goldstein; it’s fair to say that Cameron’s sophomore effort is filled to the brim with acting talent that would go on to become familiar faces within the entertainment industry.

And that’s all without mentioning the biggest star at the heart of the franchise: the Xenomorph. Yes, H.R. Giger’s nightmarish creation is arguably the headline act of the franchise, and it’s easy to see why.

Literally, everything about the iconic sci-fi monster is meticulously designed to scare the bejesus out of you, to the point where it’s hard to not appreciate a certain beauty about the Swiss sculptor’s “Perfect Organism.” (Or maybe that’s just me!)

With all that in mind, and with Aliens: Fireteam releasing in just a couple of weeks, we thought that now would be a great time to find out which Aliens character you are. All you need to do is answer these ten simple questions and, voila, we’ll be able to identify the specific character you secretly are.

So, without further ado, come join us as we journey back to the mysterious moon of LV-426 in our latest quiz. Let’s get into it!

New Trailer Released for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: The Siege of Paris

2 years 8 months ago

Earlier today on YouTube, Ubisoft released a brand-new trailer for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed expansion, The Siege of Paris. The new trailer features a short overview of the story along with plenty of incredible action shots.

The trailer begins with a short combat sequence and then dives into the story of The Siege of Paris. Charles III (referred to in this trailer as Charles the Fat) is on a rampage throughout Francia ruthlessly killing everyone in the nearby Norse villages.

To avoid facing the wrath of Charles on your own shores, Eivor must travel to the land of Francia in order to stop the slaughter of their kind. From there you have to infiltrate Paris and hopefully topple the mad king that sits on the throne.

But it appears that the story in The Siege of Paris will also show the point of view from a handful on the side of the Francs. There are a few story clips that feature an opposition soldier saying that, “Your army will never take Paris and you will never have peace.”

We also see and hear a religious figure talking about how the devil has a hold of the Vikings and that they must, “Choose this day whom you will serve, for judgement is coming.” It’s all very fire and brimstone, but with a very Christian king like Charles III, that is to be expected.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: The Siege of Paris launches tomorrow, Aug. 12 on all platforms where the game is available.

Splitgate’s Queues Are Still Worth the Wait

2 years 8 months ago

Every once in a while, a new game seemingly comes out of nowhere and takes the world by storm. In 2017, it was Fortnite, last year Among Us went from being an obscure title to the smash-hit social savior in the pandemic, and in 2021 it’s Splitgate’s time to shine. Having been in beta on PC for over two years, the game’s only risen to prominence now thanks to its beta release on PlayStation and Xbox consoles in the past few weeks.

Its release on consoles has catapulted the game into the mainstream conversation. Its blend of Halo’s multiplayer combat and the Portal series’… well… portals, has caught the eyes of many and bolstered player numbers significantly.

But therein lies the current problem so many potential Splitgate players are suffering from right now. The servers simply do not have the capacity to accommodate this influx of new console players eager to see what all the fuss is about.

As a result, the game has been plagued with server issues, to the point that developer 1047 Games has had to introduce a queue system to control the flow of traffic to the Splitgate servers.

Loop Hero Announced for Nintendo Switch, Coming 2021

2 years 8 months ago

Earlier today during Nintendo’s Indie World Showcase, it was announced that Loop Hero will be coming to Nintendo Switch later this year. Loop Hero is a roguelike card strategy game that focuses more on improving your ability to change the game world as opposed to slowly upgrading your hero.

The trailer features a custom animation that fairly accurately conveys exactly what the game looks like. However, it’s one of those games that plays much better than it shows in a trailer.

In the trailer, we see a handful of the basic actions of the game like battling enemies, playing cards to modify the game world, and even a short battle against the Lich boss.

Then the hero and the Lich have a short humourous exchange about infinite emptinesses enveloping other infinite emptinesses. And then the Lich exclaims that their feeling of existential dread is because, “Loop Hero is coming to Nintendo Switch!”

There is currently no set release date for the Switch version of Loop Hero, but it was confirmed that the game will come out later this year. As of right now, no other supported platforms for this game have been announced. If you want to learn more about Loop Hero, just check out our review right here.

Following the release of version 2.0 of Genshin Impact and its new region, Inazuma, MiHoYo launched a new trailer introducing one of the new characters recently made available.

We get a new look at Sayu. This time around, we get a detailed intro to her gameplay, unlike her first trailer.

Incidentally, dear MiHoYo, a “claymore” definitely isn’t what you think it is.

Weapons aside, you can check her out below.

Here’s how she’s briefly described officially.

“Eating high-carb foods and doing work that uses the least energy is the principle that little ninja Sayu lives by.

Sayu thinks it would be great if this could actually help her grow taller.”

2 years 8 months ago

As part of the ID@Xbox indie showcase that took place today, it was announced that the popular farming sim game Stardew Valley would be joining the Xbox Game Pass lineup this year.

There’s no set release date for it just yet, but they did confirm that it would be coming in the fall, which isn’t too far off at all. Developed by Eric Barone and published by Chuckle Fish, Stardew Valley was an indie farming sim that quickly made its way to the top of the Steam charts.

It has since been ported to PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch, and has received a ton of free updates that add a lot of new content to the game, along with some quality-of-life improvements. The modding scene continues to thrive as well, as there’s a lot of fan-made content out there to help extend its longevity even more.

Stardew Valley is now available on PC and consoles.

Blizzard Shares Dates, Details on Upcoming Diablo 2: Resurrected Open Beta; Druid & Paladin Playable

2 years 8 months ago

The upcoming open beta for Diablo 2: Resurrected received some key details today from Blizzard. For starters, the exact dates and times are now known.

For players on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC that pre-ordered they will be able to enter the early access weekend starting on Aug. 13 at 10:00am PDT.

The public open beta for everyone that wants to give it a try will begin on Aug. 20 for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC at the same time, 10:00am PDT.

Both phases of the open beta will include two additional classes that players can give a whirl in addition to the ones that were playable in the last test. The Druid and the Paladin will both be playable this time around. The Druid is a shape-shifter that can harness the powers of animals and nature, while the Paladin is a holy knight that utilizes skills centered around that theme.

The open beta will include the first two acts of the game, and will not have a level cap. There will not be an open beta for the Switch, but the Switch version is still on track to release on Sept. 23, alongside the full versions of all the other platforms.

For more details on the open beta, check out the official post from Blizzard right here, or check out our most recent impressions from the last test.

Idris Elba Will Be the Voice of Knuckles in the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Movie

2 years 8 months ago

The Sonic the Hedgehog movie franchise is the gift that keeps on giving. Just like Sonic’s Twitter persona over the years, the movie itself is part serious and equal parts memes. So it makes total sense, then, that Knuckles in the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie would be played by acclaimed and beloved actor Idris Elba.

Just in case that isn’t enough proof for you, Deadline confirmed the tease.

The first Sonic movie was destined to be a disaster. The over-dramatic and corny stories of the recent 3D Sonic games set the stage for the entire planet to not take anything Sonic-related seriously. And, on top of that, the original look of Sonic was absolutely horrific. At best, people were just pulling for it to be “so bad, it’s good” and give us some new memes.
