Borderlands 3 Is Adding Full Crossplay for PS4 & PS5 This Spring

The PAX East Gearbox event has just ended, but right before the closing remarks, it was announced that Borderlands 3 will be adding crossplay functionality for PlayStation users. This means that PS4 and PS5 players will finally be able to join those who play on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Stadia. There’s no set date just yet, but the update will be coming later this spring.

Gearbox added crossplay for other platforms back in 2020 alongside other additions like new skill trees, but PlayStation was left off of that list at the time.

Gearbox Software Announces New Partnerships & Tabletop Game

During the Gearbox Software panel at PAX, a partnership between Gearbox Software and Dark Horse Comics was announced by Licensing Director Erica Stead.

This collaboration will take the form of a Borderlands lore book that covers all the background story in the Borderlands series. Any fans out there know there is plenty of lore to cover, and Dark Horse Comics makes sense to help produce it.

You can find the video of the panel to see all this for yourself here and below:

Also briefly announced is a new Borderlands comic book series coming from comic writer Amy Chu. Amy Chu has written on series of beloved comic book characters such as Red Sonja, Poison Ivy, and Green Hornet. Not much was said on when the comic book might be out and it is unclear if it will also be produced through the partnership with Dark Horse Comics.

This isn’t the Borderlands series’ first foray into comic books. Borderlands: Origins was written by Borderlands 1 writer and Creative Director Mikey Neuman. The comic was published by comics giant IDW and told the story of Borderlands 1’s Vault Hunters over the course of four issues in 2013.

Eyes in the Dark Announced During PAX East GearBox Conference, Confirmed PC Exclusive

Earlier today at PAX East, Gearbox announced a brand-new atmospheric platformer titled Eyes in the Dark. The black and white visuals look very similar to older titles like Closure and Inside. However, the art is a bit more detailed and playful than those relatively dark and somber games. Eyes in the Dark

This trailer for Eyes in the Dark showed off some gameplay featuring a young character taking on enemies with a flashlight. The light given off appears to be the main way that you deal damage to monsters.

The flashlight also appears to have another use besides just damaging enemies. The hero of the game is shown exploring dark corners of the mansion that become lit as soon as the flashlight comes in contact with the dark areas, almost like a fog of war mechanic.

And your little light can even be upgraded at certain points in the game. In the trailer, we see the player checking out the “Globe Bulb” upgrade which lets you fire globes of light that explode into smaller light orbs. We then see the character firing balls of light at jellyfish-looking enemies.

There will also clearly be some kind of mechanic where the mansion that you explore in this game will be ever-changing. However, it’s currently unclear if that means it’ll have roguelike properties or if certain actions you perform in the mansion will change the overall layout of the world.

Finally, we also got a tiny bit of information about the story. Near the end of the trailer, there’s a splash screen with the text “save your family” which indicates the reason why this character is exploring the dark mansion in the first place.

The trailer is brief (a mere 15 seconds) but it’s the very first look at gameplay that we’re given to see.

You can take a look below.

Alice Gear Aegis CS: Concerto of Simulatrix will be released in Japan on September 8 for PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. An upgrade from PS4 to PS5 will be provided at no additional cost.

Long-Running Fantasy MMO Tera to Shut Down Servers in June

When it comes to the massively multiplayer online genre, there are certainly many choices for players. You might be in the World of Warcraft camp, or more into modern hits like Lost Ark, no matter your choice, it seems like these games are going to be there for you forever. Unfortunately, for players of long-running fantasy MMO Tera, that will no longer be the case, with developers Bluehole making the decision to end support.

The news comes via publishers Gameforge. In a new update, the team shared that the game will come to an end after close to a decade of adventuring.

“Tera’s developers, Bluehole, have decided to cease work on Tera. After much consideration, the team in South Korea have come to the conclusion that they are no longer able to offer you the exciting and satisfying content you deserve. As the last remaining publisher of Tera, it is with a heavy heart that we must respect Bluehole’s decision, and will also have to shut down the game,” Gameforge shared.

Players will have until June 30, 4 AM ET/1 AM PT to enjoy Tera before the servers go offline. In the meantime, Gameforge will be running some permanent events to send off the game with a bang.

Blizzard Details Doomfist and Orisa Reworks for Overwatch 2

While the Overwatch 2 beta will soon be upon us, there is much we still do not know about the sequel. In a bid to give players a clearer idea, Blizzard’s latest blog post touches upon the reworking of both Doomfist and Orisa for Overwatch 2. This follows a closer look at the new hero Sojourn, who will be joining in the sequel as well.

With the new 5v5 nature of Overwatch 2, there was a need to change up certain aspects of how tanks will approach team fights. This meant making them brawlier while maintaining their defensive capabilities.

Doomfist Rework for Overwatch 2

For Doomfist, the transition from damage hero to the tank role will see reduced verticality with the removal of Rising Uppercut. Rocket Punch is also less lethal, but he has some new tools to play with. Power Block will be at the core of any strategy with Doomfist, a defensive stance that reduces all damage from the front by 90%.

Block enough damage, and Doomfist’s gauntlets get charged up for increased damage, knockback radius, travel speed, and distance for the next Rocket Punch. Knock your opponents against a wall, and they will be stunned for good measure.

New Horizon Forbidden West Patch Delivers Fixes Aplenty and Ends Loot Raves

Not even heroes are immune from getting stuck in virtual bathrooms and celebrating a little too much when collecting rewards from victorious hunts. The latest Horizon Forbidden West patch 1.12 has now arrived, and among the many fixes for the core components of the game are several interesting tweaks as well.

Players can expect to see fewer quests bugging out or objectives not updating, but more hilariously, bathrooms and loot will become less of a problem thanks to the new update.

Now you will be able to venture into the bathroom in the home base of Aloy and the gang without the fear of getting stuck, which is a problem that not many would have expected in the first place. Furthermore, looting fallen machines and enemies will no longer result in Aloy engaging in “celebratory loot raves” that can last up to 10 seconds. Players who have experienced the heroine bouncing up and down previously might be glad to see the back of this issue, although it remains a fun occurrence.

As for the less fun parts, Guerrilla Games has included fixes for quests, world activities, the machines, humans, and other parts of the game to make Horizon Forbidden West a better experience following the patch.

You can read the full patch notes below:

Deathverse: Let It Die First Developer Diary Provides a Quirky Look Behind the Scenes

The free-to-play action RPG that was Let It Die was an interesting release back in 2016 before moving to the PC space in 2018, and while it had some success, a sequel of sorts was certainly not something expected. Fast forward to 2021, and Deathverse: Let It Die was announced as a PlayStation exclusive coming in 2022. With details still scarce, publisher GungHo Online Entertainment and developer Supertrick Games have shared the first developer diary for Deathverse: Let It Die.

Featuring Uncle Death, the mascot from the first game, the skateboarding enthusiast takes us on a short tour of the studio space, including the development server and a selection of snacks in the pantry area. More importantly, there is a discussion with director Shin Hideyuki about the studio itself, and why Deathverse: Let It Die became a reality.

A new studio made up of many members of Grasshopper Manufacture, which made the original Let It Die, Supertrick Games was created to continue supporting the game while starting the development of Deathverse: Let It Die.

As for the game itself, it has been an idea long in the making, and with development now in full swing, fans would be happy to know that the Let It Die world will be part of the sequel. At the end of the day, it is going to be about players all over the world fighting it out to be the last one standing.

This will be the first of more developer diaries to come, so if you are interested in Deathverse: Let It Die, be sure to keep your eyes trained on Twinfinite.

Lost Ark Gets New Ark Pass Reward System, Express Missions & More in New April Update

Lost Ark is getting a pretty hefty update this week, which adds a whole new continent for players to explore, as well as the new Glaivier advanced class. Players who have been following the story and keeping up with current content will find even more activities to enjoy in this new update.

In addition to the new content, the game is also getting a few other tweaks such as the inclusion of the Ark Pass, which seems to function similarly to battle passes we’ve seen in games like Fortnite and Destiny 2. There’s a free tier that rewards players with various resources and items just by playing, while the paid tier will offer even more attractive rewards like gems and selection chests.

The April update will also add Express Missions, which are targeted towards newer players to help them catch up to their friends who are further ahead. It’ll also help veterans with leveling up newer characters.

You can check out the full patch notes here.

Lost Ark is now available on PC, and the April update will be released on April 21, after a scheduled 8-hour maintenance period.

Among Us in VR Looks Way More Intense than It Has Any Right to Be

Announced at the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase today, Among Us is coming to the Quest 2 this holiday season, and we got a glimpse of it through a teaser trailer. You can check out the trailer for yourself down below:

Among Us is typically played from a 2D top-down perspective, which gives you a pretty decent view of your surroundings. So it’s definitely a little jarring to see the game played out in a 3D environment, with a first-person camera no less. It works, though, as the footage shown from the trailer makes the game look way more intense than it’s ever been.

Encountering another crewmate while rounding a corner seems genuinely tense, and it should be fun to experience this game in a whole new way when it comes to VR.

Among Us is now available on PC and consoles, and the VR version will be released in holiday 2022.

Saints Row Customization Trailer Shows off Prosthetic Limbs, Crazy Cars, & Much More

You can check out the full Saints Row customization trailer in full right down below.

As you can see, Saints Row will still be as wacky as ever, featuring a lot of the same chaos and weirdness the series has been known for. Some of the most notable differences in the trailer are that players will have a lot more choices regarding things they can add to their character, cars, and guns.

Character customization lets you add items like elf ears and grills, even going as far as to let your character’s skin color be something as crazy as monochrome. The brand new asymmetrical design option will also result in a lot of crazy creations, as players can make two different characters on the left and right sides of one body if they want.

Saints Row Reboot Takes the Series to New Levels of Weird (Preview)

When the Saints Row reboot news was announced back in September 2021, many were concerned that the series was abandoning its cartoony, over-the-top antics. From that brief first trailer, it seemed like the franchise was course-correcting back to the vibe of the first game in the series, favoring a more serious, traditional Grand Theft Auto gang warfare style story and gameplay.

Thankfully, a preview event for the upcoming newest installment in the Saints Row series proves that is not the case. In fact, it honestly looks like things will be even wilder in the reboot, as the “weird west” of Santo Ileso is set to feature a boatload of crazy customization options.

Moss: Book II Is Coming to Quest 2 this Summer

Moss: Book II was announced as a bit of a surprise this year, and quickly made its way to the PSVR soon after that. The game was generally pretty well-received, and served as a nice continuation to Quill’s story. For VR fans who don’t have a PSVR, however, Polyarc announced during the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase today that the game would be coming to Quest 2 later this year.

The game has already been listed on the Oculus website, and players can start adding it to their wishlists.

Here’s a quick overview of what to expect, via the press release:

“Quest 2 players will find a deeper sense of immersion and physical connection to the world when leveraging the two-controller setup. Playing with two controllers provides a natural feeling, allowing players to express themselves more freely in the world when reaching in to manipulate the environment, interact with Quill, or engage the weapon inventory system during battle. Overall, Moss: Book II pushes the limits of the current hardware generation, transporting players to a captivating world of breathtaking environments, rich storytelling, and elevated level and combat design that all together build upon the experience of the original Moss.”

Moss: Book II is now available on PSVR. There’s no set release date for Quest 2 just yet.

Fortnite Lantern Trials Offer Prizes for Completing Challenges

It looks like these might start being a nearly weekly thing. Just a little over a week ago, Fortnite players were tasked with going through the Zero Build Trials that required they play specifically in the battle royale’s new Zero Build playlists.

Unlike usual Fortnite challenges, these must be started from your browser and that is where you will be able to track them. You have to take yourself to the Lantern Trials website and sign into the Epic Games account tied to your Fortnite profile.

Each day, over the course of five days, players will have to visit the site to see what challenge they must do. They only need to follow and complete the challenge once to earn a single point and unlock that day’s emoticon reward. However, each day also includes a higher point total “stretch goal” that will lead to unlocking the better rewards.

Reaching one stretch goal will rewards players with the Leadlight cosmetic wrap to customize your weapons. Reaching the stretch goal for two challenges will earn players the Dream Lantern cosmetic back bling.

These must be done before the fifth day. On the fifth day the stretch goals will no longer be possible, but you will be able to collect any missed emoticons from the previous days’ challenges. After the event ends the rewards sink into the ether and it is unclear if they will ever enter the shop’s future pool of items.

Microsoft Flight Simulator West Virginia International Yeager Airport Review (Orbx)

Third-party developer Orbx just released West Virginia International Yeager Airport (KCRW) for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

This airport is definitely interesting, considering that it’s built on top of a large hill. With its runway length of 6,715 feet and elevation of over 900 feet, it’s one of these commonly defined “aircraft carrier-style.”

On top of that, it’s a regular destination for CRJ-700s of multiple airlines, so if you enjoy flying Aerosoft’s regional airliner and seek some scenic and challenging approaches, this is a very good candidate. Yeager Airport is basically a CRJ heaven.

It’s currently available on Orbx Direct for $16.81, which means that it benefits from the handy Orbx Central client for installation and updates. An Xbox version has not been confirmed officially at the time of writing, but Orbx is quite good at porting its scenery to consoles.

Jett Will Finally Be Nerfed in Valorant’s Next Update, Patch 4.08

The long-expected nerf to Jett is finally here as Riot Games has unveiled Patch 4.08, which will introduces big changes to her overpowered dash ability, Tailwind, when it launches next week alongside Act III of Episode 4.

Moving forward, Jett’s dash will operate via a double button press system; the first opens a 12-second window, while the second initiates the dash itself. The change is designed to make her ability less oppressive to play against, which up until now has acted as a get-out-of-jail-free card throughout each round.

Here’s the full overview from Riot:

  • Tailwind
    • On pressing the ability key, after a short delay, Jett activates a 12-second window where she is empowered to immediately dash on next button press.
    • Her Tailwind charge is lost whether she Dash’s or the window expires, but can still be regained with two kills.

Riot has explained that “Jett’s new dash will require an adjustment for players but we feel this is the best solution to balance maintaining Jett’s identity while increasing game health.”

You can see a video of the new Tailwind system in action:

Here’s a breakdown of the reasoning Riot has stated for Jett’s nerf:
