Steins;Gate Getting Makise Kurisu Bunny Figure by FREEing

2 years 1 month ago

The popularity of the Steins;Gate series of visual novels is still quite strong, and FREEing made another figure available for pre-order.

The figure portrays beloved heroine Makise Kurisu and if you’re familiar with the FREEing brand, you probably know what to expect, a massive 1/4 scale bunny girl figure.

She’s available for pre-order on Good Smile Company’s Japanese store and on the American one, priced respectively at 27,500 yen and $249.99.

The price shouldn’t surprise considering that she’s really tall, standing at approximately 420mm due to the large scale.

Incidentally, this is a variation on another figure released a while ago, lacking the stockings and with a white costume instead of black.

You can check out what she looks like in the gallery below.

I Had to Watch This Wrex-Shepard Romance Scene, so Now You Have to Too

2 years 1 month ago

The Mass Effect series is known for having a pretty wide arrange of romance options, especially once you get to the third game and same-sex options become available. Even inter-species alien love is on the table across all three games. Shepard (and Ryder too in Andromeda) is able to get freaky with just about every major alien faction in the game

However, the forbidden fruit, the final frontier if you will, has always been getting it on with Krogans. For whatever reason, the powers that be in BioWare have decided for the rest of us that Krograns, like our old pal Wrex, are off-limits. Through the power of modding and the skill of a talented animator, though, we no longer have to use our imagination. We have the technology to make Wrex-Shepard a thing. Whether it’s a thing you want to see, well, be careful what you wish for.

The video was shared by a Reddit user by the name of GrowlitheDog to the /rmasseffect subreddit with the title: “If Shepard could romance Wrex (fan-made animation; mildly NSFW).” It’s unclear if this person is the original creator of the animation, or just passing along this work of art. If it’s old, apologies in advance, but the first time I’m seeing it, so now I’m making sure all of you have seen it as well. Enjoy:

Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters Puts a More Aggressive Spin on the XCOM Formula (Hands-On Preview)

2 years 1 month ago

Over a month after my first look at Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters, I was able to finally get my hands on a demo of the game.

I was able to play a few missions including what basically amounts to a boss battle, and the initial impressions included in my previous preview are pretty much confirmed. For a basic overview of the game, I encourage you to read it because everything you’ll find there still stood against the impact of gameplay.

The game does indeed feel a lot like XCOM translated into the Warhammer 40,000 universe, but there are a few key differences.

Classic squad-based tactical RPGs like the XCOM series usually tend to encourage extremely methodical, extremely prudent gameplay.

Persona 3 Getting Adorable Hero Nendoroid Figure

2 years 1 month ago

While Persona 3 and Persona 3 Portable have been released a long time ago, they still hold a special place in the heart of many fans, so it’s not surprising that dedicated figures are still produced.

You can find the figure on Good Smile’s Japanese and American stores, priced respectively at 6,100 yen or $55.99.

The prototype is by Shichibee, while the size is the usual 100 mm common to most Nendoroid.

Halo Infinite’s Problems Don’t Need a Battle Royale Band-Aid

2 years 1 month ago

Halo Infinite isn’t in a great place right now. Following the early launch of its well-received free-to-play multiplayer mode and the subsequent resounding critical reception of its single-player campaign, all the fanfare and hype has firmly subsided as the truths of what can only be described as lackluster post-launch support have been laid bare. Now, 343 Industries seems intent on a last-ditch effort to save Xbox’s flagship IP with a Battle Royale mode that feels like a rushed and poorly considered bandaid over a much bigger problem.

First, though, let’s recap the situation. The co-op campaign that was supposed to launch on May 5 with the beginning of Season 2 has been pushed back to sometime later in Season 2, and the Forge mode has also been delayed to Season 3… and goodness knows when that will be given Season 1 will have run for nearly six months by the time it ends. It could be another six months for Season 2, pushing us to the very end of the year. That would make it almost an entire year since Halo Infinite launched before we get one of the series’ flagship modes.

And that’s just the major modes that are missing that we knew about from launch. Dive into Halo Infinite’s multiplayer scene and you’ll find even more of a mess. A severe lack of game modes and maps — particularly noticeable in its Competitive mode where fewer modes and maps are deemed viable for ranked matches — and a frankly awful cosmetics and Battle Pass system has led to fans growing increasingly impatient with 343 Studios.

Samurai Bringer Delivers Roguelite Action in Retro Style

2 years 1 month ago

When it comes to roguelites, players have been quite blessed over the years. There is the excellent Hades, while Dead Cells is also a great way to spend some quality time. An upcoming release is hoping to join those ranks, and judging by its looks, the upcoming Samurai Bringer is impressing already on the visual front.

Coming to the PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch via developers ALPHAWING and publisher Playism, Samurai Bringer puts players in the role of Susanoo, an ancient deity from Japanese mythology. Unfortunately, his powers have been stripped away and the threat of Yamata-no-Orochi, the legendary eight-headed dragon, needs to be dealt with.

MLB The Show 22 Review – Fair or Foul?

2 years 1 month ago

MLB The Show 22 on PS5

Baseball is back. MLB The Show 22 is here and as with every year, it’s promised to be the biggest one yet. With two or three-player online co-op, a new commentary team, improvements to franchise mode, and more, it’s certainly impressive on paper. But every baseball fan knows that a good team on paper still needs to prove its worth on the field.

Right off the bat, MLB The Show 22 passes the eye test. The 4K resolution, 60 FPS framerate, and HDR all make the game look incredible. This is nothing new for the franchise on the current-gen consoles, but it’s still an impressive showing considering how few games are able to boast the same.

On top of the fantastic graphics and smooth framerate, the overall presentation keeps on getting better every year. Smash a mammoth homer or gun a runner out at first from across the diamond and there’ll be a replay with the same Google Cloud Statcast breakdown of launch angle or throwing speed you would see during a real MLB broadcast.

And what brings the whole in-game presentation together is the brand new commentary team. Jon “Boog” Sciambi and Chris Singleton are replacing the old trio of Matt Vasgersian, Mark DeRosa and Dan Plesac. Sciambi and Singleton have been calling MLB games together for over 10 years and parts of their real commentary has been captured and brought into MLB The Show 22.

Combine Pokemon and Beauty With These Creative Nail Polish Colors

2 years 1 month ago

Fashionistas will fall in love with this series of nail polish inspired by Pokemon that the Uka company in Japan is launching next month. The beauty company has created six different nail polishes that each feature a different Pokemon and the color associated with it.

This special line of polish has three meant for adults and three meant for children, though of course, any age can wear any of the colors. Each bottle has the silhouette of the Pokemon that the color represents.

The adults’ nail polishes feature Meowth, Eevee, and Piplup, which are designed with softer, more professional colors: beige, brown, and smoky blue, respectively.

The children’s polishes feature Pikachu, Jigglypuff, and Scorbunny with fun, brighter colors: yellow, pink, and orange, respectively.

Uka boasts that these polish colors are perfect for busy adults and children who enjoy cute colors; they say that their polishes are quick-drying and moisturize the nails. These nail polishes even use a vegan formula with 60% of its ingredients being plant-based, which is great if that’s important to you.

Each of the Pokemon-inspired nail polishes comes in 10mL bottles and costs 2,750 yen (approximately $22 USD) each. If you want all six in a special set called the Six Stars Collection, it can be preordered online between May 6 and May 11 for 18,260 yen (approximately $145 USD).

It may come at a high price, but how could you resist knowing that the colors match your favorite Pokemon?

Today third-party developers released plenty of new assets related to upcoming add-ons for Microsoft Flight Simulator, and released a new airport.

First of all, we take another extensive look and a development update from Just Flight at the Boeing 757-200/300 in the works at Bluebird Simulations.

“Here’s our very first Development Update covering the 757 200/300 since the initial announcement a while back.

It’s been almost two months since that initial announcement about this exciting project so we thought it was about time we provided an update. We’ve been steadily progressing on the model/systems and flight dynamics. The VC has gone through some extensive improvements since our last update with sharper textures and more detailed parts now included.

The exterior model is around 50-60% complete including textures. Systems and flight dynamics are progressing nicely but it’ll be several months before we can give more details on those aspects of the project.

Our aim is to provide updates for you on a regular basis, around every 4 to 6 weeks hopefully. In the meantime here are a set of Work In Progress screenshots for you to enjoy. Click on each shot to enlarge and view as a gallery.”

Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Next Gen Versions Delayed

2 years 1 month ago

Got some bad news here, sorry to say. It has been announced that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Xbox Series X|S and PS5 versions have been delayed, presumably out of the Q2 window they were in.

The official Witcher game Twitter account had this to say:

We have decided to have our in-house development team conduct the remaining work on the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. We are currently evaluating the scope of work to be done and thus have to postpone Q2 release until further notice. We’ll update you as soon as we can. Thank you for your understanding.

The “in-house development team” mentioned is important as previously, the next gen work on Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was being handled in part by “a trusted partner in collaboration with CD Projekt.” It seems that now CD Projekt Red will be assuming the remainder of development.

GrimGrimoire Once More by Vanillaware Announced on Famitsu With First Screenshots & Details

2 years 1 month ago

If you’re a fan of Japanese developer Vanillaware, you may know GrimGrimoire, originally released in 2007 for PlayStation 2.

As announced in today’s issue of Weekly Famitsu, Nippon Ichi Software is bringing it back for PS4 and Nintendo Switch, with a planned release in Japan on July 28.

The real-time strategy JRPG will get a higher pixel count, widescreen aspect ratio, and a bunch of improvements and new features.

Among those, there will be a fast-forward feature, expanded ability to save your game (during battles), and an adjusted “Hard” difficulty level.,

Four new types of “Great Magic” have been added, including “Mana Burst” or “Resurrection” that can revive allies. They also have newly drawn cut-in illustrations.

During gameplay, you can earn coins and spend them in a brand new skill tree to improve your magic and familiars.

Last, but certainly not least considering that this is a Vanillaware game, a gallery feature has been added, including over 90 illustrations created both for the game itself and its promotion.

If you’re not familiar with Vanillaware, it’s a niche but extremely respected developer well-known for its beautiful 2D art. Their most recent game is 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim.

You can check the first screenshots and plenty of art below. At the moment, NIS America (which also published the original game in North America) hasn’t announced a western release, so we’ll have to wait and see whether this game is brought over, but I would be surprised if it isn’t.

Muv-Luv Alternative Total Eclipse Getting Plastic Model Kit Reprint of Tarisa’s Shiranui Second

2 years 1 month ago

Japanese manufacturer Kotobukiya is continuing its quest to bring back the old but gold Muv-Luv plastic model kits.

This time around, the manufacturer announced the 1.5 version of Tarisa Manandal’s Type-04 Shiranui Second Phase 2.

It can currently be pre-ordered for 6,930 yen (which translates approximately to $55) and it will be released in September 2022.

If you’re not familiar with the 1.5 version plastic model kits, they’re higher-quality non-scale models with lots of options that tend to be a bit more expensive than the 1/144-scale models, but will definitely look better on your shelf.

This specific model appeared in the visual novel Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse (which is supposed to be released soon on Steam, albeit it’s a few months overdue now) and in the corresponding anime series.

As mentioned above, this is a reprint of a model kit that was released several years ago and has been out of print for a long time.

QuakeCon Will Be a Fully-Digital Event Once Again This Year

2 years 1 month ago

It’s just been announced that QuakeCon will still be an all-digital event in 2022. The reasoning behind this choice is that an event of this magnitude requires plenty of planning and decision-making that just isn’t currently possible with so much uncertainty in the air.

This is exactly the same fate that befell last year’s QuakeCon, as it was also a fully-digital event due to uncertainties in the face of COVID-19 and all of the health and safety concerns that could have caused issues for planners and attendees.

This year’s digital event will take place from Aug. 18-20, instead of being held in Dallas. There are hopes that the in-person event will return in 2023 with the usual contests, new games, hardware that attendees can try out, an in-person BYOC, custom PC creations, and other attractions.

Currently, the QuakeCon team is already working on virtual BROC events, charity opportunities, online meetups, giveaways, and more.

Those are all of the details we’ve been given so far, but it’s also been stated that more info regarding this year’s event will be coming in June. We’ll be sure to keep you in the loop, so check back in with us as the QuakeCon 2022 date approaches.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Trailer Offers Brief Delight

2 years 1 month ago

A new trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness dropped today. Don’t get your hopes up for too much, as there doesn’t seem to be that much new imagery to absorb. Plus, the trailer sits at exactly 30 seconds, so you are only getting a brief look at the perils facing the MCU’s Sorcerer Supreme.

Marvel Studios gave the trailer the title of “Reckoning” and the trailer definitely gives you the sense that Doctor Steven Strange is in some big trouble for the recent multiverse issues ever since Spider-Man: No Way Home.

A presumed alternate reality Baron Mordo (played by Chiwetel Ejiofor once again) gives the title for this trailer, saying “Steven Strange, your reckoning is long overdue.” In the massive muddle of voices calling out to Doctor Stranger in the trailer, the Ancient One (played by Tilda Swinton) can clearly be heard among them.

You can see the trailer for yourself to pick through all the new hints (nothing as massive as Professor X) being given.

Prepare To Fix Spaceships With Friends in Fueled Up

2 years 1 month ago

Announced today from indie studio Fireline Games (Intensive Exposure) is a game called Fueled Up.

Fueled Up is described on Steam as:

A chaotic couch co-op spaceship recovery game for up to four players. You and your crewmates must fuel, fix and rescue damaged spaceships before the evil space octopus gets its tentacles on them!

Return the spaceships to safety while dealing with unexpected dangers like wormholes, asteroid showers, and space squids. Keep the engines fueled up, fix hull breaches, and extinguish fires or risk the ship blowing up! There are no boring days in the life of a spaceship recovery engineer!

Fans of the Overcooked games will certainly find the aesthetic of Fueled Up very familiar. This means while you are three friends might indeed fix a few spaceships you might easily end up completely destroying your mutual friendship. There’s no doubt going off the trailer that players are in for a hectic challenge. There will be online co-op as well as local, so you can easily destroy your relationships from a distance as well!

You can see the trailer for yourself here and below:

The only release date given is that you can expect Fueled Up sometime in 2022. As for platforms, Fueled Up will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Vampire Survivors Patch Adds Major New Relic, Quality of Life Fixes, & More

2 years 1 month ago

Today, indie developer Poncle posted the official notes for the Vampire Survivors 0.5 patch, detailing the important tweaks and bugfixes it will enact, as well as some major gameplay features that are inbound. Included in those changes are a new weapon, a major new relic, and much more.

You can check out a note from the developer and a list of tweaks right down below:

Because of the way I’ve originally tested the game mechanics in Vampire Survivors, most of what we’ve seen so far has somewhat always been from the realm of the expected.

With Arcanas that’s going to change a little.

This new layer of game mechanics will be largely untested due to the large amount of interactions it could have, so there might be major changes to them as we move forward in patches.

Please keep this in mind when discussing Arcanas, there will inevitably be talks about what’s trash and what’s op, but my concern is about people fighting over this kind of stuff and forgetting the main point of the game: having fun.

So I hope you have fun finding new ways to break the game and reach 1fps again, and fingers crossed there won’t be need for nerfs, only buffs 🙂

It’s important to note that players will need to progress to the top of Stage 4 in order to unlock Arcanas as a game mechanic – and that is only the beginning to the fun. For more info, check out the official blog post here.

Vampire Survivors is available via early access on Steam, currently for the low price of $2.69.

Newly Discovered Metal Gear Solid 3 Glitch Let’s You Skip *That* Ladder Scene

2 years 1 month ago

The speedrunning video game scene never ceases to uncover all sorts of unusual glitches, and this latest one is particularly interesting: a recent discovery from Metal Gear Solid 3 speedrunner apel allows one to skip the iconic ladder scene. By equipping a few items and standing in a certain location, Snake ascends the ladder in seconds with his arms spread like an angel’s wings.

If you’re familiar with the ladder scene, you’ll appreciate the irony, because, at least for those who have already played the game, having the option to save yourself climbing what, at times, feels like a never-ending ladder is a real godsend.

In what has now become a signature of the cinematography that Hideo Kojima loves inserting into his games, the ladder scene appears right after Snake takes down a legendary sniper named The End and continues his way to the top of the Krasnogorje mountains. Initially, it presents itself as just another run-of-the-mill segway from one area to the next but then continues to go on and on and on until, as the Snake Eater theme begins to play, you realize the scene has been designed to convey a poignant moment of reflection for the gruff hero.

It’s pretty cool, actually, and certainly worth experiencing once, but for returning players it is otherwise a bit of a bore. For speedrunners, of course, the discovery is a huge boon, saving them minutes of precious time as they attempt to make faster and faster runs of the game. The most recent record, by the way, was 1 hour and 16 minutes, according to speedrun.com — but that was set over a year ago. New records are sure to start flooding in soon, then!

Here’s a video of the ladder glitch from apel’s YouTube channel:

Elden Ring PSA: Summoning Latenna the Albinauric Near a Dire Wolf Can Have Amazing Results

2 years 1 month ago

With the dust finally beginning to settle following its launch a couple of months ago, Elden Ring still manages to consistently surprise us with all the mind-blowing secrets that FromSoftware smuggled into its epic fantasy action-RPG. From invisible walls that take 50 hits to open up to creepy gatekeepers who secretly steal your souls when you’re not looking, the world of the Lands Between is brimming with super cool discoveries.

And today we bring you a new one that we’ve only just uncovered (H/T, Rasukuclaver and Reddit). Specifically, if you summon Latenna the Albinauric when you’re in close proximity to a dire wolf, she’ll actually mount the dire wolf and begin laying waste to your enemies with a new Freezing Mist attack. Pretty nuts, right?

Go ahead and check out a taster of the recently discovered footage down below:
