Soul Hackers 2 for PS5, PS4, Xbox, & PC Gets New Trailer Focusing on Breaking Mart Convenience Store

Atlus released another of its daily trailers of the upcoming JRPG Soul Hackers 2, showcasing an element that will appear in the game.

This time around, we take a look at a location of the game, the Breaking Mart convenience store which is a parody of the FamilyMart that you’ll find basically at every street corner in Japan.

Apparently, you can buy servings of spaghetti, which is quite usual at Japanese convenience stores, where you can find plenty of ready-to-microwave meals. Various kinds of spaghetti dishes are very common.

As usual, the trailer also includes the daily horoscope with a ranking of signs from the luckiest to the unluckiest. Taurus is at the top, while Libra is at the bottom of the fortune ranking.

Soul Hackers 2 releases for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC (Steam and Windows Store) on August 26, just one day after the Japanese launch on August 25.

Tower of Fantasy Is Less “Genshin Killer,” More “Genshin Alternative”

My fascination and interest in gacha games surged with the release of 2020’s Genshin Impact, which pretty much raised the bar for what gacha games could potentially become. MiHoYo’s excellent open-world RPG weaved its gacha elements into its story in an unobtrusive manner and you could engage with that as much or as little you want; the real focus was on exploration. Enter Tower of Fantasy, another gacha game whose aesthetic looks remarkably similar to that of Genshin Impact’s.

It’s clear that Level Infinite wanted to compete with MiHoYo’s monster game. After spending about 20 hours in the closed beta test, I’ve come to realize that Tower of Fantasy isn’t so much of a Genshin Impact killer than it is a Genshin Impact alternative that may falter in some areas, but excels in the ones where Genshin falls short.

Let’s talk about some of the obvious similarities: Tower of Fantasy begins with you choosing a male or female avatar (though this quickly becomes irrelevant), the combat has some elemental synergies you can make use of, it features a large open-world for you to explore and farm resources in, and it also has an annoying mascot character that’ll get old real fast. Oh, and it’s also a gacha game. And that’s pretty much where the similarities end.

Following the reveal of Valorant’s new agent Fade and the end of the grand finals of the Masters tournament in Reykjavík, Riot Games has released a new gameplay trailer.

This time around, we shift away from the cinematics and we take a look at Fade’s abilities and tactics in action. Albeit brief, the trailer provides a chance to observe what will be on our own PC screens soon.

Fade’s role as an initiator agent means that she’ll likely be at the forefront of each assault, punching through enemy defenses. Looking at the trailer, she certainly appears capable.

Incidentally, she will be released in the game next week, when update 4.08 launches on April 27. It’ll also include a relevant nerf for Jett, and much more.

If you want a more detailed breakdown of Fade’s abilities, you can check out our dedicated article from earlier today.

It’ll be interesting to see what Fade will be able to do when she’s thrown into the fray next week, but for now, you can watch the trailer below.

New Valorant RGX-11z Pro 2 Skin Bundle Includes Sweet Butterfly Knife

The RGX-11z Pro skin bundle has proved to be one of Valorant’s most popular, so it’s no surprise to see Riot Games double down with a second version of the same design. The new RGX-11z Pro 2 bundle includes five different weapons, including a Phantom, Operator, and a cool butterfly knife melee weapon. There’s no doubt in my mind it’s going to be a hot seller when it becomes available alongside the launch of Valorant’s Act III of Episode 4 next week, April 27.

Valorant art lead Kerwin Atienza explained the design philosophy behind the new skin bundle in a press release sent to Twinfinite:

There is a gamer in every VALORANT player. Our aim is to unleash that gamer within and for them to express themselves through this skinline. We don’t want them to just go out there in style but to actually feel empowered to perform, get some kills, and show off as they wield an RGX weapon.

We wanted to capture that same feeling the first time they got their hands to play in that glorious power packed custom PC rig with the latest video card and gaming peripherals! That same feeling of prestige and bragging rights knowing you have the best in class right at your fingertips. To do that, we know that every detail would count and custom features needed to be at its core.

From the shuffling LED lights that you can customize, to the unique moving mechanisms that you see through from the transparent case, the kill counter that constantly pushes you to perform, all the way to the aimbot vibes of the custom audio—everything was designed to offer the players that ultimate gamer experience and vibe.

Here’s a breakdown of key RGX-11z Pro 2 facts:

Valorant New Agent Fade Full Reveal Showcases Her Awesome Abilities

There’s nothing quite like a new Valorant Agent reveal, and the game’s latest addition to the roster is among the coolest yet. Fade, a Turkish initiator with a spooky belt of utility, looks set to impact the meta in a big way when she launches next week, and today we’ve got a first look at how her abilities work.

If you’ve been keeping up with Twinfinite’s coverage of Fade so far, previously codenamed ‘Bounty Hunter,’ then you might have seen the leak of her abilities from a couple of weeks ago, first shared over on Reddit. As it turns out, that leak was absolutely spot on. Although, we should note that the ability names aren’t official as yet since the press release sent to us did not use the same terminology as that of the leak. We’ll update this article once we know more.

Below we’re going to break down each ability, but this time we’ll include footage of each, which has been provided to Twinfinite by Riot Games:

Root Letter Visual Novel Series Has Sold Over 500,000 Units

Kadokawa Games has announced that its mystery visual novel series Root Letter has passed 500,000 units sold.

This includes shipments to retailers and digital sales worldwide, and according to the wording of the announcement, it appears to count only the original Root Letter (released in 2016) and its improved version Root Letter: Last Answer released in 2018.

On the other hand, the announcement does not mention Root Film, the second “Kadokawa Games Mystery” visual novel that was then released in 2021.

If you’re unfamiliar with Root Letter, it’s an intriguing mystery story that includes an interesting narrative with investigation elements that may remind you of the Ace Attorney series.

On top of that, its character design has been handled by popular illustrator Taro Minoboshi, whom you may know for the Love+ series and God Wars: Future Past.

One of its most charming aspects is the setting in Japan’s Shimane prefecture, which is a less-traveled area of the country with plenty of local charm.

The developers have gone to great lengths to reproduce not only the places but also many local people, who have been turned into characters for the game.

At the moment, we don’t know how or when the series will continue, but the fact that Kadokawa Games still releases news about it is certainly encouraging.

If you want to try it for yourself, Root Letter: Last Answer is available for PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.

Final Fantasy VI Masterline Terra Figure About to Open Pre-orders, but Her Crazy Price Might Shock You

Today Square Enix revealed that the previously announced Final Fantasy VI Masterline figure portraying Terra on the Magitek armor will be available for pre-order tomorrow.

To be precise, you’ll be able to pre-order it at 11:00 am Japan time on April 25 (4:00 am CEST, 3:00 am BST, 10:00 pm on the 24th EDT, and 7:00 PM on PDT), but you may have a limited window as only 600 units will be made available worldwide. That being said, we don’t yet know if pre-orders for other regions will open at the same time.

Yet, if you’re considering the purchase, you may want to hear the price first. For Japan, it’s going to be 1,485,000 yen, which translates into approximately $11,550.

Yes. That’s not a typo.

Perhaps the shock may be mitigated by the notion that the figure is absolutely massive, created in 1/6 scale by Prime1Studio, which is known for super-premium productions.

The previous figures they produced for Square Enix, dedicated to NieR automata, were priced at $3,399, which is still a far cry from the price of this one,

Those who will purchase this super-luxurious item will have it shipped on July 28, 2023.

If you want to see what the figure looks like, you can check out the video below, which includes a mini-interview about it with Yoshitaka Amano himself.

Watch an Xbox Series X Development Kit Disassembled in New Video

Popular tech YouTube channel Gamers Nexus released a new video showcasing the rather interesting teardown of an Xbox Series X development unit.

The unit was purchased via an online auction and can’t be used for regular gaming or testing since Microsoft already banned it from its systems.

With that, host Steve Burke took his tools to it and decided to show off the secretive guts of the unit that is usually supposed to be available only to developers.

Burke disassembles the unit all the way to the bare motherboard, showing off interesting elements like the fairly monstrous RAM setup, the cooling solution, and the internal layout, which are definitely very different from your usual Xbox Series X that can be purchased at retail.

Said differences are also interesting because they illustrate the specific needs of game development, which require solutions that retail units definitely don’t need even beyond the increased RAM.

Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One Arrives on PS4 this April, Xbox One Version Cancelled

With Frogwares’ Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One already playable on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S since November last year, players awaiting the version of the action-adventure mystery on last-generation consoles have been left waiting. Now, Frogwares has announced that the PS4 version will be launching on April 28, but the Xbox One version is no more.

With Frogwares being a Ukrainian developer, the current war has certainly not been helping. As such, the team chose to focus on optimizing the PS4 version of the game, while the Xbox One version is on hiatus indefinitely. Anyone who still has an Xbox One pre-order waiting will be able to get a full refund.

“As some of you have pointed out on our socials, we’ve been rather quiet on the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Sherlock Holmes Chapter One. The good news is that we will be releasing Sherlock Holmes Chapter One on PS4 on the 28th of April 2022,” part of the statement reads. “The bad news is that unfortunately, we had to make a tough decision on the Xbox One version of the game. Due to circumstances way outside of our control, the Xbox One version of Chapter One has been postponed indefinitely.

“To say that the war made an impact on us is probably the understatement of the decade. Keeping our personal and mental situation out of this, the war impacted us from a production point of view heavily. From where we stand now, with the resources and manpower that we have, we can release the PS4 version of Chapter One on April 28th. However, we have to postpone the Xbox One version.”

Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One will release on April 28 for the PS4. The game is already available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Halo Infinite Provides a Sneak Peek of Season 2 Game Modes

With Halo Infinite getting ready for Season 2 this coming May 3, fans are certainly hungry for more information. Following an early look at the new maps, 343 Industries has given us a better look at the game modes with a new blog post.

King of the Hill is a popular mode for many players, and it will be returning in a slightly different fashion this time around. Instead of being a timed affair, a neutral hill will spawn on the map and two teams battle it out to control the hill and earn points. Once a hill is captured, a new hill will spawn elsewhere. Teams will have to battle it out to fill their capture bars to come out victorious.

The second mode is Land Grab, which sees three neutral zones up for grabs between the teams. The aim is to get to 11 points, and every capture rewards a team one point. Once a set of three zones are captured, an intermission will take place before three more neutral zones are spawned.

Larian Studios Officially Confirms 2023 Release for Baldur’s Gate 3

It hasn’t been too long since Larian Studios expressed their wish to carry on the development of Baldur’s Gate 3 for an extended period of time. While it was still an idea just a few months ago, things have now been made official. In a new video released during the Dungeons and Dragons Direct event, Larian has stated that Baldur’s Gate will be fully launching in 2023.

In the video, we get a recap of the major happenings and milestones thus far in the Early Access journey of the game. From the graphics to the gameplay elements, it is clear that big changes have been implemented along the way. Yet, this is not the end.

“By the Nine Hell, we’ve added a lot of great stuff already,” the narrator said. “And there’s more where that came from. So join us in early access on our journey to Baldur’s Gate 3, or come along in 2023 when the game releases.”

While a 2023 release is definitely going to be disappointing to some, the track record of the studio would suggest that it is a good move, as the game will be improved even further in the coming year.

Paradox Launches Unbound Publishing Initiative for Everyone To Make Vampire: The Masquerade Games

With the flurry of various Vampire: The Masquerade games coming out, such as Swansong and Bloodhunt, it is clear that the bloodsuckers are back in full force. However, for players who feel that the games are not exactly what they want, Paradox Interactive is giving you the chance to make that right. The launch of the new indie publishing program Unbound will open the gates for developers to create games set in the Vampire: The Masquerade universe.

Obviously, the license going free in this manner comes with some caveats. Games created under the Unbound label will only be made available on Itch.io, and while developers can retain up to 67% of monetized projects, funds cannot be raised via crowdfunding or personal outreach. Funding through methods like Patreon, YouTube, and Twitch are still allowed under the Dark Pack agreement.

On the lore side of things, games will have to be set in the Vampire: The Masquerade 5th edition story world, and titles are not allowed to have the terms Vampire: The Masquerade or World of Darkness in them, making them not part of the canon. The setting can be historical or contemporary, but ultimately takes place in the real world, so no crazy sci-fi vampires running about.

While the 33% cut taken by Paradox might seem high, the free license alleviates that somewhat. Plus, developers are able to keep all game assets that do not utilize World of Dark property, which can then be turned into other revenue streams.

ITORAH Review – On the Chopping Block

ITORAH on PC

ITORAH is a Metroidvania that doesn’t do much to stand out among the pack outside of its stellar art direction. Otherwise, the game is quite average when compared to other options in the genre in regards to level design, enemy encounters, and overall challenge.

ITORAH drops players into a Mesoamerican-inspired world where a plague is spreading across the land of Nahucan. So, of course, it’s your job to figure out what’s going on and how to stop an evil plague while playing as the titular main character and only human left, Itorah. She’s joined by a talking axe named Koda who brings plenty of humorous dialogue and personality when placed next to our mostly-silent protagonist.

The story moves quickly to get you from one new biome to the next and it isn’t exactly the main focus here. It’s easy to forget why you’re doing what you’re doing even though several characters usually fill you in on what’s happening after every major boss encounter or zone completion. The thought of being able to see the next new area is what drove me forward, personally — not the plot.

Destiny 2’s Glaives are About to Get Buffed, While Airborne Gunplay Becomes a Little More Complex

Bungie has just published their weekly This Week at Bungie blog post, going over some of the major gameplay changes that players can expect in Destiny 2 going into season 17. There’s no news on any major new content, but for those who are invested in the game’s little tweaks and balances, there’s quite a bit to take in here.

The big headliner here is that the new Glaive weapon type is getting a buff in season 17. Most notably, Glaives will soon benefit from melee buffs, and will activate perks that are based off of melee damage or kills. Here are some of the major Glaive changes:

  • We’re pushing Glaives deeper into their roles of hard-hitting melee damage and near-complete protection when shielded, as well as increasing projectile speed to make them more reliable at range.
    • Note: the Glaive shield grants 97.5% damage resistance in PvE, 75% in PvP.
    • Increased melee damage vs PvE enemies (except for bosses and vehicles) by 25%.
    • Reduced energy drain speed while shielded by 30%.
    • Increased projectile speed dependent on the range stat:
      • At 0 stat: increased from 30 to 60 m/s.
      • At 100 stat: increased from 80 to 100 m/s.

In addition to that, Bungie is also looking to tweak some of the weapons and mods to make it so that airborne gunplay doesn’t provide a significant advantage against grounded players.

“Destiny has extremely fluid and expressive airborne movement, but that movement must be balanced against grounded players lest it become oppressive. We want players who enjoy that play style to be able to build into it, but they’ll have to make tough choices about what they leave behind to do so. Successfully engaging in the air will no longer be as simple as “put an Icarus Grip mod on it,” but the upside for heavily investing in it will be higher.”

Today Arc System Works released new screenshots of the “Another Story” DLC coming with the season pass of the fighting game Guilty Gear -Strive-.

The DLC will come on April 29 and will depict the story from a different perspective, showcasing many characters that did not appear in the original story.

There she finds a girl who closely resembles Bedman, who once worked with the Universal Will against mankind.”

Incidentally, we also get the reveal of Delilah, who has been mentioned in the story but has not been fully shown thus far. She’s described as follows:

She’s lived within a dream since her birth due to a unique condition caused by her brain’s inability to withstand her exceptional intellect and abilities.

Rocket League Gets Its Own Free-for-All Battle Royale Mode Next Week

Rocket League will be receiving a new limited-time mode next week where the battle-cars will be combating each other directly instead of playing soccer, developer Psyonix announced today.

The new mode is called Knockout and features up to eight players with no teams involved. Each player will receive three lives and knock others out of the “Safezone” translucent dome for 10 seconds or into various hazards below the platform, such as spikes or lasers, for an instant death. The Safezone will continually shrink throughout the match, and will enter Sudden KO rules with increased power after six minutes.

The battle-cars themselves will receive a few new tricks besides boosting into other cars with grab and block buttons. Dodging into an opponent will grab them and dodging again will throw, while the block will reflect oncoming attacks if timed properly. Players will also have other abilities not found in the regular, such as locking on or stunning other players and triple jumping.

The new mode is part of the limited-time Knockout bash event starting April 27 until May 10. Players will be able to earn spring-themed items and Golden Gift Baskets that reward with Victory, Accelerator, and Turbo items by completing in-game challenges.

Tales From the Borderlands Sequel Announced & Releasing This Year

Randy Pitchford gave a surprise (and early) announcement at the Gearbox Software PAX panel that a new Tales From the Borderlands is being worked on and will be out later this year. The first game was released in Nov. 2014 and was developed by Telltale Games.

This time, however, the game has been developed entirely in-house by Gearbox Software. This new Tales From the Borderlands installment will have “all new characters and stories set in the Borderlands universe.” Randy Pitchford mentioned this project has been developed “secretly, for many many years” so a bigger game than the original Tales From the Borderlands might be expected.

You can find when Randy Pitchford begins to discus the new Tales From the Borderlands here and below:

There’s still not much detail to it, however. This was kind of an announcement of an announcement as Randy mentioned showing it off this summer.

The original Tales From the Borderlands was a five episode interactive story that Steam summarizes as:
