Blizzard Details Upcoming Rise of the Naga Season for Hearthstone Battlegrounds

1 year 11 months ago

For those that like their card games with a healthy dash of magical splendor, then the new Hearthstone Battlegrounds season should be right up your alley. Starting on May 10, players will welcome the Rise of the Naga, which brings a new hero into the mix, a reset of all player ratings, and a new minion type in the form of the magic-wielding naga.

Naga are spell-thirsty minions that are drawn to magic, and can give players spells or get more powerful when spells are played around them. Certain Naga also possesses the Spellcraft keyword, which grants a temporary spell each turn, which can be used to buff them until the start of the next Recruit phase.

As for the new hero, Queen Azshara will arrive in Hearthstone Battlegrounds, ready to lead her people to victory. Her passive, Azshara’s Ambition, allows her to begin her Naga Conquest when the player’s warband reaches 30 total attack, this, in turn, allows her to spend one mana to discover a Naga each turn.

If you need some help mastering the Naga, here are some tips from Blizzard:

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Sets Record as Top-Grossing Video Game Movie Adaptation of All Time

1 year 11 months ago

The blue blur that is Sonic the Hedgehog is definitely making waves in the entertainment scene, with both a recent movie sequel, a new remastered collection, and even a Netflix series in the works. The big screen is where Sonic has definitely made the biggest impression, as the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie is now officially the most successful video game movie adaptation of all time, raking in $331.64 million at the global box office.

Based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega, the amount surpasses the first film’s $319.71 million box office take, smashing the record. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 debuted at No. 1 in 47 markets, including the U.K., France, Australia, and other countries, and also saw strong sales in Mexico and Brazil.

Of the $331.64 million box office take, the U.S. portion stands at $162.74 million, with the international box office sales at  $168.9 million. Needless to say, this is excellent news for Sega as well as their partners at Paramount Pictures.

It remains to be seen if that box office success can be replicated for the other projects under the Sonic the Hedgehog umbrella, which includes the aforementioned animated show, future movies, music, and merchandise. Fans can look forward to the third movie in the trilogy most likely in 2024, with confirmation coming even before the second movie was released.

Microsoft Flight Simulator Getting a Patch Soon; Canberra Airport Announced; Tokushima & Eppley Get Screenshots & Video

1 year 11 months ago

Today Microsoft and third-party developers had news to share about Microsoft Flight Simulator and its upcoming add-ons.

First of all, Microsoft announced that a new patch is in the works to address some issues that cropped up with Sim Update 9. More details and patch notes will be shared “soon.”

In the weekly development update, we also hear that SimWorks Studios’ Van’s Aircraft RV-14 (portrayed above), Captainsim’s C-130 Hercules (not recommended since it’s just the external model, unless that’s what you want), and IndiaFoxtEcho’s Sukhoi Su-31 have been released on the official marketplace, but only for PC for the moment.

We also get a new reveal from Impulse Simulations, which has encountered issues with the development of Darwin International Airport (YPDN) but isn’t staying idle and is working on another relevant scenery in Australia, Canberra Airport (YSPD), serving the country’s often mistaken capital city.

Star Citizen Reveals Invictus Launch Week 2952 & Free Play Event; New Trailer & Video Released

1 year 11 months ago

Today Cloud Imperium Games had a couple of reveals to make about its growing space simulator Star Citizen.

First of all, the Invictus Launch Week for this year has been announced, and it will happen between May 20 and May 31.

To temper expectations for those unfamiliar with the event, it has nothing to do with the “launch” of the game. It’s an in-lore holiday celebrating the military fleet.

This year it’s labeled “2952” because that’s the current year in the in-game calendar. The location will also change to Crusader.

Perhaps the most exciting part is that for the whole duration of the event, the game will be free to download and play, and a rotation of ships will be made available to enjoy without the requirement of any purchase.

It’s the perfect occasion to test the current full build of the game (alpha 3.17) for yourself if you’re on the fence, or confused by conflicting reports.

The visit to the Javelin destroyer will return this year, but we don’t know whether it’ll be expanded in any way compared to what we saw last year.

Below you can see a teaser trailer and the calendar of flyable ships. Incidentally, the teaser provides a peek at the X-Wing-like RSI Scorpius, which could indicate a flyable debut.

A second video also showcases the tools created for developers to continue to work on the game more and more efficiently.

The 2022 Roadmap for Total War: Warhammer 3 Is as Grim as its Setting

1 year 11 months ago

Total War: Warhammer 3 is the definition of an ambitious video game. The third title in a sprawling trilogy taking place in the grim-dark Warhammer universe, the setting is the perfect accompaniment to the grand scale strategy that is synonymous with the Total War franchise.

Released back in February to critical acclaim, Warhammer 3 mostly bore the weight of its lofty expectations. Learning lessons from recent historical titles like A Total War Saga: Troy and the excellent Three Kingdoms, developer Creative Assembly has brought forth a raft of gameplay improvements and innovations from newer titles to the aging Warhammer platform.

The main campaign in Warhammer 3, called the Realm of Chaos, lets players take command of one of the eight playable factions and attempt to stop, or support, the spread of the Chaos gods and their incursion into the mortal realms, in a scenario that is more story-driven than previous entries.

Since its launch, almost three months ago, there has been a substantial balancing patch in the form of Patch 1.1, and various minor adjustments and hotfixes here and there, but little else besides.

Trek to Yomi Review – Ambling Artistry

1 year 11 months ago

Trek to Yomi on PC

Trek to Yomi brought me moments of sheer joy and deep-seated frustration, all wrapped up in its cinematic art style inspired by the Japanese movies of the 50s and 60s. After playing through the game for about 7-8 hours and having completed two playthroughs, I was left with one word to sum up my experience — inconsistency.

Developers Leonard Menchiari and Flying Wild Hog’s artistic samurai tale follows the story of Hiroki as he embarks on a quest for vengeance after bandit-turned-warlord Kagerou and his band of not-so-merry men invades his hometown, butchering the citizens and burning the place to the ground. With his master killed and beloved Aiko nowhere to be seen, Hiroki embarks on an adventure to hunt down Kagerou and prevent him from unleashing chaos on another unsuspecting town ever again.

This narrative lends itself well to the flow of taking you through many beautiful landscapes, and at times, Hiroki’s adventure was visually stunning. I still remember clambering my way to the top of a building and looking out over a bay soaked in the glow of the full moon hanging in the sky. The beauty of Trek to Yomi’s environments are often juxtaposed by the sheer brutality of the combat taking place in the foreground, as Hiroki hacks and slashes his way through countless bandits, each swing of his samurai punctuated by the spray of blood or the final cries and whimpers of the felled enemy.

What isn’t so great, however, is how throwaway this narrative can feel. Trek to Yomi feels like a game aiming for a minimalist approach in order to elevate the often excellent elements that are there. As someone who admittedly doesn’t know a whole lot about Japanese culture and folklore, some of the plot points and locales I found myself traversing with Hiroki went over my head, because the game doesn’t do a great job of explaining it until after the fact.

1 year 11 months ago

When it comes to user creations that can actually function as gameplay mechanics and even actual experiences themselves, Media Molecule’s Dreams is one of the best at it. Whether you are looking for fresh ideas to test out or create one of your own using its toolset, the game has some robust tools to aid in that endeavor. If that is not enough, the latest 2.44 update for Dreams is putting even more power in players’ hands for Create Mode, improving an already great toolset from previous updates.

The tweaks and additions are obviously going to be more technical owing to the nature of the game, but it is still fun to see the flexibility that the new stuff will bring to the right creators. There is the new Time & Date gadget that can detect the real-life time and date, and when paired with the improved Sun & Sky gadget, you can ensure that the creations line up with whenever an player is enjoying the experience.

The Calculator gadget has also been improved, with a wider version that can have up to 10 inputs for values, while new trigonometric and vector operations are now possible for the foundational gadget. Animations can also be made smoother thanks to the new IK/FK conversion mechanic, while textures on sculpts can be adjusted if you prefer less of a textured look. War of the Visions Finally Sees the Release of Hyped Up Water UR Unit Astrius

1 year 11 months ago

Developed by Gumi in conjunction with Square Enix, War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius is a tactical RPG that’s currently available on mobile devices. It also features a gacha system where players can spend a premium currency to pull for highly sought after characters. This week’s patch saw the continuation of the Persona 5 Royal collaboration event and the release of the P5-themed Vision Card, as well as the release of a new water unit named Astrius.

It’s worth noting that Astrius has been hyped up in the War of the Visions community for months. The game’s water element has been languishing a little bit, but has since seen a resurgence with the release of Celes during the FFVI collab, and with Astrius, the meta will likely get a big shakeup.

Here’s a quick rundown of Astrius’s kit:

Echoes of Mana’s Lucre Training Quests Now Give Out More Rewards than Before

1 year 11 months ago

Echoes of Mana is the latest mobile gacha game from Wright Flyer Studios and Square Enix, and it features characters from across the popular Mana JRPG series. While reception to the game seems to be largely positive so far, it hasn’t been without its little bugs and issues. The energy system still needs some tweaking, and players had noticed that the game’s daily Lucre quests weren’t quite as lucrative as they probably should be.

In fact, eagle-eyed players quickly noticed that they could earn way more Lucre by doing other daily training quests and selling the rewards they got from those.

In response to player feedback and this observation in particular, WFS and Square Enix have since pushed out a new update to the game to fix the Lucre training quest:

“Due to player feedback, we have adjusted the amount of Lucre obtainable from ‘Daily Training Quest: Lucre’ to be increased, and players can now receive more Lucre than before.”

This is a pretty important change; even though Lucre is the most common form of currency you can get in the game, it still serves as a major bottleneck for a lot of upgrade systems.

Echoes of Mana is now available on mobile devices. If you’re looking to get into the game yourself, be sure to check out our reroll guide and character tier list as well.

Dragon Quest Gets its Own Ice Cream in Japan Thanks to Baskin Robbins Collaboration

1 year 11 months ago

The ice cream chain Baskin Robbins is super-popular in Japan, and it’s going to be even more popular thanks to a Dragon Quest collaboration.

The collaboration, which is already active and will continue until May 31, is associated with the smartphone game Dragon Quest Keshi Keshi! and is centered around an ice cream flavor inspired by the iconic slimes.

The flavor is cute even in its name (“Punitto Slime Hoimi Flavor,” which meals “Gummy Slime Heal Flavor”) and comes with vanilla and apple sorbet with soda-flavored gummies that (according to the press release) will make you want to say “Hoimi!” (the Heal spell in the Dragon Quest series) when you bite it.

A regular-size ice cream with a single flavor costs 390 yen, which translates roughly ino $3.

A second product is the Dragon Quest Keshi Keshi! Variety Box that includes 8 ice cream cups with flavors of your choice to take out in a special Dragon Quest box accompanied by 8 original coasters.

It’s priced 2,160 yen (approximately $17) for small-size scoops and 2,930 yen (approximately $23) for regular-size scoops.

The collaboration will also appear in the game, with a set of Dorakeshi (erasers) inspired by Baskin Robbins and its ice cream.

Microsoft Flight Simulator Cessna 310, A32NX Airbus A320 8.0 Stable, Barranquilla, & McCall Airports Released; Great Britain North Announced

1 year 11 months ago

Today third-party developers released several add-ons for Microsoft Flight Simulator and revealed another.

Milviz finally released its Cessna 310 R, which is now available on the developer’s own store for $39.99.

It’s worth mentioning that the developer announced that the aircraft will absolutely be released on Xbox down the line, but that requires Microsoft to fix the handling of WASM gauges on the platform, which has not been done yet. Milviz has no visibility on when that will happen.

You can take a look at the aircraft in the trailer below.

Another relevant release comes from FlyByWire, which released the 8.0 Stable version of its freeware A32NX Airbus A320 Neo add-on.

This is definitely a rather important milestone for the developer, as it brings to the stable version a lot of important features like the custom LNAV, TCAS, the MCDU web interface, and much more.

You can find the full patch notes here.

Apex Legends Saviors Ranked Reloaded Adds Demotions & New Tier

1 year 11 months ago

Apex Legends Season 13: Saviors is right around the corner and, as usual, Respawn has released info on specific changes that players can expect to see when the new season goes live on May 10. More specifically, we’ve finally been given details on the Ranked Reloaded tagline that’s been used in some of the SAviors promo, including the gameplay trailer.

The game’s Twitter account just sent out a tweet that outlined everything and provided a link and a brief outline of the changes. The biggest changes have to do with the addition of the new Rookie tier underneath Bronze along with demotions and the removal of Kill RP caps.

According to the Apex team, these ranked changes have been made to promote team play and make sure that RP more accurately reflects a player’s skill. With that in mind, all teammates will receive RP (50% of the normal amount) when one squadmate gets a kill.
