Marvel’s Midnight Suns Gets Launch Trailer & Gameplay Showing the Hulk & More in Action

1 year 5 months ago

Today 2K Games and Firaxis Games released a new trailer and showcased plenty of gameplay of the tactical RPG Marvel’s Midnight Suns.

This time around, the first video is of the Launch Trailer kind, since we’re just a few days before release. It actually is a cinematic trailer showcasing what happens just before the game’s story, with the destruction of the Sanctum Sanctorum.

Even more interesting is the gameplay showcased during a livestream accompanied by plenty of developer commentary.

First of all, we get to take a look at the Hulk in action, which is great since we haven’t seen much of him just yet. On top of that, another segment of gameplay shows off an extremely high-level and super-challenging mission that players will be able to enjoy when they reach the endgame.

These missions are so hard that you really can’t afford to make any mistakes according to the developers.

Speaking of the endgame, that’s when you unlock Hulk, as he becomes available just before the end of the story and then you can play with him post-ending.

We also learn that all DLC characters are fully featured, they have their own story, you can hang out with them at the Abbey, and they unlock really early in the game so you can play with them nearly immediately in a playthrough.

You can check out the videos below.

Here’s Proof That Pokemon Is in Dire Need of Voice Acting

1 year 5 months ago

Throughout the years, the Pokemon franchise has introduced us to vast worlds full of uniquely-designed creatures and thrilling challenges. But, when it comes to voice acting in cutscenes, it’s a void of silence.

It may be surprising to hear that one of the best-selling games of all time has never included this feature, despite its cast of many beloved characters. Fortunately, a new video from the YouTuber Dr. Bonehead shows proof of why this much-needed aspect should be in the Pokemon franchise, where you’ll be able to see a comparison between the normal cutscenes and voice-acting versions of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Here is a snippet of the video from Dr. Bonehead’s Twitter account:

One of the Best Action Films of 2022 Is Briefly Returning to Theaters This Week

1 year 5 months ago

The sequel to the famous Tom Cruise movie Top Gun was a smashing success over the summer after a Memorial Day release, flying its way up to Paramount’s top-grossing film of all time. To celebrate earning $716 million domestically at the box office, Top Gun: Maverick is returning to theaters from Dec. 2, 2022-Dec. 15, 2022.

According to President of Domestic Distribution Chris Aronson (via The Hollywood Reporter), “This feels like the perfect time to bring Top Gun: Maverick back to theaters so audiences everywhere can once again experience how special this film is.”

Director Joseph Kosinski managed to capture the magic of the original Top Gun while not relying on nostalgia alone to keep viewers interested. Tom Cruise, of course, reprises his role as Pete Mitchell, but with a new crew and an exciting adventure.

If you want to rewatch the original Top Gun before going to see Maverick, it’s streaming on Paramount+. Top Gun: Maverick has a 99% audience score and a 96% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, so if you can’t decide on a movie to go see, this is a strong contender.

On Dec. 22, 2022, the film is available to watch on Paramount+, and you can watch it as much as you want after that. While you’re here, be sure to check out the rest of Twinfinite for more content on new movies and TV shows, including plenty of fun quizzes to take and guides to read.

Gundam Witch From Mercury Nika Nanaura Voice Actress Changed

1 year 5 months ago

Gundam Witch From Mercury Nika Nanaura

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury will see one of its voice actresses replaced. Haruka Shirashi will replace Yume Miyamoto as Nika Nanaura in the Japanese dub of the series. The reason for the change is a result of Miyamoto's poor health. Shirashi will debut as Nika Nanaura in Episode 10 of Mobile Suit: Gundam The Witch from Mercury on December 11, 2022. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

An official announcement regarding the change also appeared through the official The Witch from Mercury Twitter account. It is fairly straightforward, just highlighting that there will be a change in voice actress for Nika Nanuara going forward. There is no indication that Miyamoto will return to voice Nanuara going forward if her condition improves.

1 year 5 months ago

Here’s a Second The Super Mario Bros Movie Trailer

Nintendo promised a The Super Mario Bros Movie Direct on November 29, 2022 with a second trailer. As expected, it delivered a detailed look at more characters and scenes from the film. Most notably, it showed how Princess Peach, Donkey Kong, and Luigi would look in The Super Mario Bros Movie. Immediately after the Nintendo Direct, Illumination uploaded it to YouTube.

Here's new The Super Mario Bros Movie Direct, showing Princess Peach, Donkey Kong, and Luigi in trailer 2. Before the presentation of it began, the voice actors for Princess Peach and Donkey Kong, Anya Taylor-Joy and Seth Rogan spoke about their roles.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ohJrpHUoZ10&ab_channel=NintendoofAmerica

The first trailer didn't feature as many characters. It started with a detailed look at Bowser invading a penguin kingdom with his minions. After that, Mario ended up in the Mushroom Kingdom after coming down a pipe. He then met Toad, and the two headed off to the "city" proper. This also provided the first opportunity to hear Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Chris Pratt as Mario.

Latest Super Mario Bros. Movie Trailer Showcases Peach And Donkey Kong

1 year 5 months ago

Nintendo and animation studio Illumination shared the latest trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie today. Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto was on hand to introduce the new trailer; Anya Taylor-Joy (who is playing Princess Peach) and Seth Rogan (who voices Donkey Kong) also shared selfie videos of themselves sharing their contractually obligated excitement about participating in the film.

The trailer showed more of the Mushroom Kingdom and primarily focused on Donkey Kong and Princess Peach. We also heard more from Chris Pratt's Mario, Charlie Day's Luigi, and Jack Black's Bowser (who explicitly refers to Mario as being a human). The trailer shows Mario training, fighting Donkey Kong, driving a kart on a rainbow road, traveling with Peach, and there was also one quick moment where we saw the human world.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie arrives in theaters on April 7, 2023. You can see our live reaction to the trailer below.

New Mario movie trailer debuts Peach, Donkey Kong, and a glorious Rainbow Road

1 year 5 months ago

After a solid first showing for the long-awaited Super Mario Bros. Movie in October, Nintendo has returned with a second action-packed trailer, this time giving us a first proper look at Peach, Donkey Kong, and a delightful karting cameo for Rainbow Road.

In fact, it's a bit of a treat for Mario fans all-round, casting its net wide to introduce a host of familiar faces, places, and power-ups, all given a vibrant movie makeover. It's the first time we get to hear Anya Taylor-Joy's no-nonsense Princess Peach, for instance, as well as Charlie Day as Luigi, and Seth Rogan as Donkey Kong, even though the latter's debut was mainly just a grunt.

Elsewhere, the trailer delivers a breakneck tour of the movie's beautifully reimagined Mushroom Kingdom, giving us a stroll across a bridge amid of flurry of Cheep Cheeps, a glimpse inside Peach's castle, and, of course, the crowd-pleasing addition of karts hurtling across Rainbow Road.

Colt Canyon and Bladed Fury are December's Xbox Games with Gold

1 year 5 months ago

Xbox Games with Gold still trundles on, and Microsoft has now confirmed December's titles for Xbox Live members as Colt Canyon and Bladed Fury

Colt Canyon is described as an "atmospheric and punchy" rogue-like shooter set in a pixel-art Wild West, where players can root and toot their way toward saving their kidnapped partner from ruthless bandits. "Take your gun and TNT," explains developer Retrific, "and shoot your way through a hostile canyon full of hidden treasures, weapons, obstacles and all kinds of bloodthirsty scum."

Eurogamer hasn't scanned a critical eye over Colt Canyon, but with a Very Positive rating over on Steam, the masses appear to think this one is pretty good!

Pokemon GO Tour 2023 Will Feature In-Person & Global Gameplay

1 year 5 months ago

After the reveal yesterday of Pokemon GO Season 9: Mythical Wishes, Niantic released a massive amount of information for the upcoming GO Tour 2023 event. Like the past two years, this event will feature a global component. However, this is the first year there will also be an in-person event similar to the GO Fest events held annually during the Summer.

The first in-person GO Tour will take place in Las Vegas one week before the global version of the Hoenn-themed event. Players who live in the area or would like to travel there will be able to join in on the fun from 10 AM to 6 PM on Feb. 18 and 19. The global version of Pokemon GO Tour: Hoenn will take place at the same time of day as the in-person event on Feb. 25 and 26.

Typically, the ticket for the live event will cost $30, but players who purchase it before Dec. 31 will receive an early bird discount of $5. It’s worth noting that each ticket only entitles players to access a single day of the event. Anyone who wants to enjoy the bonuses and features on both days must purchase the extra day add-on for $25. Unlike the regular ticket, no add-ons are discounted for purchasing them early. As of right now, the cost of the global event ticket has not been released.

Besides the extra day add-on, players can also pick up Raid Lover and Egg Egg-thusiast add-ons for $15 each.

Raid Lover gives players up to 18 free raid passes by spinning gym photo discs, a 5000 XP bonus for completing raids, six extra Candy for catching Pokemon in five-star raids, and three extra Candy XL for catching Pokemon in five-star raids.

The Egg-thusiast add-on gives players a 1/4 hatch distance bonus, triple hatch XP, triple hatch Candy, triple hatch Stardust, and an increased chance of getting 10km eggs from Gyms and PokeStops. The 1/4 hatch distance bonus does not stack with other similar bonuses.

Major Marvel Snap Update Fixes the Pool 3 Climb, Adds Multiple New Cards

1 year 5 months ago

A new Marvel Snap update has added a bunch of new cards plus a new way to earn them.

The update, called The Power Cosmic, will add a number of new cards including Thanos, She-Hulk, and Galactus… and perhaps most importantly, introduces Collector’s Tokens.

“We're planning to patch at 3 PM Pacific today!” said Marvel Snap creator Ben Brode. “Once you log into the new patch the game will look at your Collection Level and grant your Collector's Tokens. Have fun! Can't wait to see what new decks everyone will build!”

Collector’s Tokens are a brand-new mechanic which should make acquiring those last finishing touches to your latest deck a little bit easier.

The idea is simple – players are awarded Collector’s Tokens by increasing their Collector’s Level, and these can be spent in the Store to purchase new cards. Essentially, it’s a new kind of currency that’s a neat way of picking up one or two cards to finish off your latest deck.

The number of Collector’s Tokens you get is based on your Collector Level:

  • 500-999: 3000 Tokens
  • 1000-2999: 6000 Tokens
  • Over 3000: 12,000 Tokens

You can then spend those tokens on any cards that appear in the new Token shop. Pool 3 cards will cost 1000 tokens, Pool 4 cards cost 3000 tokens, and Pool 5 cards cost 6000 tokens.

The best part? It should make the Pool 3 climb that little bit easier.

Check out the game's launch trailer below.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUI66uvo3SI

The Eminence in Shadow Master of Garden is based on the anime and novel series created by author Daisuke Aizawa. The story begins with a young man living in modern-day Japan having an ambition to become as strong as possible. His desire for strength comes not from wanting attention, but to be a power that blends in with the crowd and operates from the shadows. Those ambitions are cut short when he's run over by a truck. Fortunately, though, he is reincarnated into a magical world as Cid Kagenou, scion of a noble family. From there he takes on a pseudonym, "Shadow," and lives out his fantasies by founding Shadow Garden, a group dedicated to fighting a sinister cult that he also thought up himself. Or so he thought. The cult he thought was a mere roleplay gambit turns out to be real, and before long, Cid must become a true shadowy mastermind and fight back against the darkness of a new world.

The Core i5 12400F is a surprisingly excellent gaming CPU, offering the power of Intel's new Alder Lake architecture in a simple six-core twelve-thread configuration. The CPU supports PCIe 5.0 and DDR5, but it also works with cheaper DDR4- and PCIe 4.0-based hardware.

It's normally £200, but it's down to £167 on AWD-IT which is a pretty decent deal if you want to build a powerful gaming PC on a budget.

Super Mario Movie trailer breakdown: long-lost Kong cameos spotted

1 year 5 months ago

Nintendo has now released its second trailer for the Super Mario Bros. Movie, giving us our best look yet at the upcoming animated film from Minions maker Illumination.

The trailer showcases a good look at the film's version of Princess Peach (voiced by Anya Tayor-Joy) while Chris Pratt's Mario only gets a couple of lines of dialogue. Overall, it's a fun glimpse at some familiar Mario locales and characters, translated for the big screen.

If you're a Nintendo nerd like me, you've probably rewatched the trailer more than once to spot everything going on in the background. And there's some cool Easter eggs - particularly if you like the extended Donkey Kong family. Let's give it one more watch and dive in.

Legendary Pokémon and item duplication glitches discovered in Scarlet and Violet

1 year 5 months ago

More glitches have been discovered in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet (who would have thunk it) which allow players to duplicate items, and even their legendary Pokémon.

Plenty of bugs and exploits have already been found, whether it's creating body horror or duplicating shiny Pokémon, but this is on a different level. In the game, you're supposed to only have one of the legendaries, whether that's Koraidon or Miraidon, but now you can fill up your boxes with them.

These new-found glitches have been widely discussed in the Pokémon community, and they're not that difficult to pull off. One has been tested by yours truly, and I can confirm it works. The other requires you to have beaten the end-game, which I've not reached yet so I can't confirm at the moment whether it works or not. Beware some spoilers ahead!

Marvel's Midnight Suns review - crush evil, DM the Avengers, and find that perfect bedside table

1 year 5 months ago

One night last week I went to a book club with Blade. It was Blade's idea, actually. Captain America and Captain Marvel were there, so we were pretty much knee deep in captains. Blade had arranged the whole thing to spend time with Captain Marvel, but then the other captain overheard and wanted in too, and Blade was too shy to say no. We read The Art of War. It was Blade's pick. We talked about the strategies and wisdom in the text, and someone mentioned how funny it was that Blade's favourite book was written by someone named "Sun". Funny because Blade is a vampire, right? After the book club was done I went foraging for mushrooms with Iron Man. Incredibly, these are not the ramblings of someone who's just banged their head on a shelf.

This is Marvel's Midnight Suns, a game to be excited about because it's also Firaxis' Marvel's Midnight Suns. It's a tactics game in which you pick Marvel heroes and engage in turn-based, card-heavy battles against Hydra and whoever. But it's also a game about cementing the friendships of a bunch of disparate, bickering super-people, who have been brought together by the threat of ancient evil and forced to live outside of time and space in a mysterious abbey. It's XCOM and Fire Emblem. It's a blockbuster about the apocalypse, but it's also the story of a particularly taxing house share.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla's final story chapter includes a surprising link to Mirage

1 year 5 months ago

Well, this is a nice surprise. Not only is the final content update for Assassin's Creed Valhalla now live on all platforms - a week earlier than planned! - but it includes a surprise tie-in to next year's Bagdhad-based Assassin's Creed Mirage.

We were expecting this last chapter of Eivor's story to arrive next week, on 6th December. Announcing its early release last night, Ubisoft blamed "an unforeseen glitch in the Animus".

As expected, this final dollop of Valhalla storyline sees Eivor wrap up her time in England and head off to North America one last time - where the game's opening shows she is buried. There's time for a few final goodbyes with some noteworthy people from Valhalla's long campaign, and then it's off to find out more about what Odin has been up to.

Chainsaw Man Opening Theme Song “Kick Back” is #1 on Oricon Weekly Chart

yonezu kenshi chainsaw man kick back

Kenshi Yonezu’s “Kick Back,” which serves as the first opening theme song for Chainsaw Man, placed first on the Oricon Weekly Chart. It also sold 310,000 copies in its first week. This is the third song from Yonezu to reach number one on the Oricon Rankings. [Thanks, Oricon!]

According to Oricon Music, “Kick Back” is the first single to reach number one on top of selling over 300,000 copies in its first week since Reiwa began in 2019. It is not the only song to have a strong first week. However, the other song (“Uma to Shika”) that accomplished this is one that Yonezu sang. In fact, the Top 5 First Week Sales list has four Yonezu songs on it. The only song on the list that isn’t Yonezu’s is “Night Diver,” which released posthumously after Haruma Miura’s death in July 2020.

Sony Launches PlayStation Tournaments on PS5

1 year 5 months ago

PlayStation Tournaments

Sony launched a new community feature for PS5 owners: PlayStation Tournaments. These officially sanctioned online tournaments will also award prizes to their winners. The details were revealed in a post on the PlayStation Blog. The first set of tourneys will involve Guilty Gear Strive, NBA 2K23, and FIFA 23.

Sony held what it calls "on-console" tournaments since 2016, but 2022 marks the day PlayStation Tournaments launch officially for the PS5. The official launch comes following three months of beta testing.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NFvKg_iaMQ8

The first PlayStation Tournaments for PS5 will be open to the "global PS5 community," and benefit from some new features. The new experience is "streamlined" from the PS4 era, with shorter tournament times, easy sign-up from the PS5 itself, and a new UI. Tournaments will also be easier to find, and have real-time updates. Sony also launched a Discord-based community hub for tournaments, accessible at this link.

Sony will celebrate the launch of PlayStation Tournaments on PS5 with what it's calling the "Win-a-Thon" promotional event, too. From December 1, 2022 to January 31, 2023, players on both PS4 and PS5 can compete for leaderboard positions in tournaments, with prizes like cash, PS5 consoles, and controllers up for grabs.

Marvel's Midnight Suns Review

1 year 5 months ago

One of my favorite things about watching superheroes duke it out is when someone gets smacked so hard they fly backwards and crash through solid walls, explode tanker trucks, or slam into their friends. It’s an awesome demonstration of just how strong these godlike characters are supposed to be, and it’s always a disappointment when a superhero game doesn’t quite capture that feeling. With Marvel’s Midnight Suns, however, Firaxis has built a deep and innovative turn-based tactical combat system around the joy of having Iron Man, Dr. Strange, Blade, and more knock enemies around like toys they're trying to break – and that hasn’t gotten old in the roughly 75 hours of its surprisingly expansive RPG campaign. A lot of that time isn’t spent in battles, though, and while it’s certainly appealing to get up close and personal with this cast of more than a dozen popular and lesser-known Marvel heroes, it does tend to go a bit overboard with convincing Earth’s mightiest heroes to all be your BFFs.

Score an Xbox Series S for Just $220 Right Now (Limited Time Only)

1 year 5 months ago

If $240 wasn't low enough for you over the Black Friday sales, then how about $220? They're practically giving them away, but we're not going to complain, as this is an incredible deal on the Xbox Series S. Woot (owned by Amazon), has currently got the Xbox Series S down to just $219.99. This is $80 off the list price, and probably one of the best deals of the year.

Yes, before you ask, Woot is very trustworthy and this is a completely legit deal. Woot is owned by Amazon, so just think of it as buying from the retail giant instead. If you are going to jump on this deal, I'd do it quickly, as it will only remain available while stock lasts, or until the end of the day on November 30.

Xbox Series S Drops to Just $219.99 (Save $80)

We did see a $40 gift card deal at Amazon (+just $240 for the console) over Black Friday, but since that's expired, this is the next best thing, and well worth considering.

The Xbox Series S is normally priced at $200 less than the Xbox Series X but can still play all of the same games. It doesn't have the power of the Series X, so games are displayed at 1440p resolution instead of 4K in order to maintain the consistent 60fps-120fps graphics you'd expect.

But, it does retain all the other next-gen Xbox features such as Game Pass, Quick Resume and ultra-fast load times. If you don't have a 4K TV or feel like the $280 could be better spent elsewhere, then the Xbox Series S might be a smarter purchase.

Tales of Symphonia Remastered Shows its Legendary Story With New Trailer

1 year 5 months ago

Today Bandai Namco released a new trailer of the upcoming JRPG Tales of Symphonia Remastered.

The trailer focuses on the game’s story, which is loved by many fans of the genre and will finally be brought back for those who have never played it. We get to meet the cast and take a look at the narration.

Tales of Symphonia is one of the most classic and beloved chapters of Bandai Namco’s Tales series, originally released in 2003 for GameCube and then ported to PS2 in 2004.

In 2013 it was also ported to PS3, and then the same version made its way to PC in 2016.

It tells the story of Genis Sage and Colette Brune, who start a journey to replenish their world with Mana alongside Raine Sage and Kratos Aurion. They meet Sheena Fujibayashi who comes from a parallel world and together they discover that the fate of both worlds hangs in the balance as they compete for Mana.

As a result, they set out to save both worlds, within an epic story that has been appreciated by JRPG fans around the world across multiple console generations.

The trailer provides a glimpse of that, and you can watch it below.

Tales of Symphonia Remaster will arrive on PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch on Feb. 17 in both North America and Europe.

Interview: Jen Cohn Talks Overwatch 2 Voice Acting, Love of the Gaming Community, & More

1 year 5 months ago

Arguably one of the most popular first-person shooters is Overwatch; the more concisely dubbed “hero shooter” was released by Blizzard Entertainment in 2016 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows, in October 2019 for the Nintendo Switch, and just this month the massively overhauled “sequel” Overwatch 2 was released for free on all major platforms.

The game divides players into two teams of six, with each player choosing from a large roster of characters with unique abilities. These teams work together to complete map-specific objectives in a short amount of time. But one of the things that makes the game unique and has attributed to its popularity is the astounding cast of voice actors that give life to the large cast of characters.

Of these characters, one of the most iconic is that of Pharah, a highly decorated soldier who soars through the air in a Raptora combat suit armed with a launcher that fires high-explosive rockets. Actress Jen Cohn has been the voice of Pharah since the game’s release in 2016 and, along with her co-stars, has been a darling of the Con scene ever since. Jen was gracious enough to join me in a conversation about her career, her love of the gaming community, and her upcoming new projects.

Entertainment Writer G.A. Lungaro: Jen Cohn seems to be the title. Do they actually call you Jen or is it just Jen Cohn?
