What Does Valorant Mean? Definition Explained

1 year 7 months ago

First-person shooters are as popular as ever, and if buying new video games feels like a strain on your wallet, free games like Valorant are a great option. The game has plenty of weapons for whatever combat style you prefer. Here’s everything you need to know on what Valorant means.

Valorant Definition Explained

Valorant may sound like a word, but it’s simply the name of the Riot Games tactical 5v5 title. All you need is a decent computer to download the game and jump in. VALORANT is a colorful game with realistic graphics. The game is broken into 13 rounds, and you only have one chance to succeed each round. There are a variety of maps to play on, so you’ll need to stay sharp to avoid unpleasant surprises.

That being said, it’s probable that the title VALORANT was derived from the English word “valor”, which means to be brave or courageous. That does kinda fall in line with the characteristics of various characters in the game, and Riot simply put a unique spin on it to come up with a new game title.

The game has agents who have special abilities that fit into a few different roles defined by the game: Duelists are the primary attackers for a team, Initiators disrupt the opposing team, Sentinels hang back and defend captured turf, and Controllers sneak around to set up plans for your team’s victory. There’s plenty of opportunities to be inventive and surprise your opponents.

Overwatch 2 Kiriko Guide: Strategies, Abilities, Synergies & More

1 year 7 months ago

Kiriko is the latest support hero added to Overwatch 2, and she’s definitely proven to be a refreshing change of pace. She’s not exactly the easiest character to play, however, and that’s where we come in. Here’s a full guide for Kiriko in Overwatch 2, including a rundown of her abilities, her role in the game compared to other supports, and how to actually play her.

Overwatch 2 Kiriko Abilities

First off, let’s go over her kit. Unlike most other supports in the game, Kiriko is way more mobile and also a little more damage-oriented.

  • L-Shift: Swift Step – Teleport directly to an ally, even through walls.
  • E: Protection Suzu – Upon impact, allies in the area become briefly invulnerable and are cleansed of most negative effects.
  • Ultimate: Kitsune Rush – Summon a fox spirit that rushes forward, accelerating the movement, attack speed, and cooldowns of allies that follow its path.

Her basic left-click ability lets her throw out her Healing Ofuda, which will channel a burst of healing talismans that seek out targeted allies. Her right-click lets her throw out kunais, that deal increased critical damage. Finally, Kiriko also has the passive wall climb ability, which allows her to jump at walls and scale them, just like Hanzo and Genji.

Before we move on, it’s also worth noting that her Protection Suzu will cleanse the following abilities:

  • Biotic Grenade
  • Sleep Dart
  • Rampage
  • Blizzard
  • Earthshatter
  • Hack
  • Dynamite

All of these abilities are pretty high impact and can stun players for a good while, so being able to time your Protection Suzu is quickly cleanse your teammates to get them back on their feet is critical.

Demon Slayer Anime Set to Get Special Announcement During Machi Asobi Event

1 year 7 months ago

The next installment of the Demon Slayer anime is still a ways off, but fans can look forward to some fresh news during the Japanese Machi Asobi event next week.

In a post to the official Demon Slayer website made on Oct. 6, it was revealed that there would be 3 special events tied to the Demon Slayer series during the Machi Asobi Vol. 25 event being held on Oct. 15. The first two events will have some form of information related to the anime, while the final one is a special screening of the Demon Slayer Movie.

The first of the two events with new information is a talk helmed by Natsuki Hanae and Katsuyuki Konishi, the voice actors for Kamado Tanjiro and Uzui Tengen respectively. The talk will dig into the events of the latest season, with both voice actors offering input on what transpired and what will come next for their characters and the wider story.

Directly after this event will be something tied specifically to a new announcement regarding the series. Nothing else is known about what this event will entail though, and no information will be revealed about it until the day of the event.

The announcement marks the first opportunity for new information tied to the series’ next arc since a Swordsmith Village arc teaser trailer was released earlier this year. No firm release date was given for the season at that time, though it was confirmed that the show would once again be streamed through Crunchyroll.

Reprised Raids In Destiny 2 Could Receive New Legendary And Exotic Weapons, With A Catch

1 year 7 months ago

In the last year, Bungie has brought back two Raids from Destiny 1 into Destiny 2, The Vault of Glass and King’s Fall. Both of them have made significant marks overall in the game. Although, both Raids brought back the same weapons and other rewards, which was fine for the most part.

However, in a TWAB released today, Bungie has stated the possibility of future reprised Raids getting new Legendary or Exotic weapons.

What are the criteria for reprising Destiny 1 weapons in Destiny 2?

For raids, we’ll always reprise an Exotic weapon associated with a raid when we bring that into Destiny 2. We’ll select the six most popular Legendary weapons and reprise those, as well. One other thing, and this hasn’t come up yet, but in the event that a raid didn’t have an Exotic (or that Exotic has already come back), or there were fewer than five Legendaries, we get to make new weapons to match the raid.

This has two ways to interpret it. The primary example would be Outbreak Perfected, the previous Raid Exotic for the Wrath of the Machine Raid from Destiny 1. In Destiny 1, it was known before as Outbreak Prime and was only obtainable via an Exotic quest from the Raid. However, it was brought back in year 1 of Destiny 2 as a normal quest from no Raid. So in this case, if Wrath of the Machine were to be brought back into Destiny 2, which in all likelihood it will sometime next year, the Raid would receive a brand new Exotic weapon instead.

Is Need for Speed: Unbound Cross-Platform & Cross Save? Answered

1 year 7 months ago

From Criterion, the creators of Need for Speed: Most Wanted, comes yet another fantastic game in the Need for Speed series. As one of the most popular racing video game franchises, it’s essential to know how the game will work across different consoles and PC. Let us help you answer the question: is Need for Speed: Unbound cross-platform and does it have cross saves?

Is Need for Speed Unbound Cross Platform & Cross Save? Answered

First up, it’s important to mention that Need for Speed: Unbound is only available for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC. If you already know that, then it’s time to find out if you can play with friends on other systems and if you can carry saves across your multiple devices.

Is Need for Speed: Unbound Cross Platform

The good news is that Need for Speed: Unbound has cross-platform play between PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S. This means that if one person in a friend group owns an Xbox and there’s another one who prefers PC gaming, then the third person can still join the online fun with them even while playing the game on a PS5.

Does Need for Speed: Unbound Have Cross Saves

Along with the good news above comes some bad news. There is no cross-save option in Need for Speed: Unbound. If you were planning on getting the game for both consoles or console and PC, then it looks like you’ll just have to play through the game on each device.

Destiny 2 The Gaze Amaze Challenge Guide

To complete the challenge, the Gaze Holders must stand in a pool of light when Golgoroth’s Gaze is taken from them. It’s a very straight-forward requirement that doesn’t take a lot of effort to complete. The only difficulty lies in Golgoroth’s poison darts, which will be much more deadly the closer you are to him. Long Live The Pupa! Solar Opposites Renewed for Season 5

1 year 7 months ago

The Solar Opposites are coming back for a fifth season. During the show’s panel at New York Comic Con, it was revealed that Hulu renewed the series for an additional season, meaning that everyone’s favorite band of misfit aliens aren’t going anywhere for the foreseeable future. The news comes just a few days after the series premiered its recent Halloween episode, A Sinister Halloween Scary Opposites Solar Special.

Season 4, which was announced back in 2021, will air 12 episodes sometime in 2023. Solar Opposites is the brainchild of Justin Roiland, co-creator of Rick and Morty, and fellow writer Mike McMahan, co-creator of Star Trek: Lower Decks.

It follows the wacky adventures of a family alien unit from the Planet Shlorp and consists of scientist Korvo(Portrayed by Roiland), his eccentric partner-in-crime Terry (Thomas Middleditch), adolescents Yumyulack and Jesse (Sean Giambrone and Mary Mack, respectively), and The Pupa as they try to adjust to life on Earth.

Released in 2020, Solar Opposites received critical acclaim, with critics comparing it favorably to Rick and Morty. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hulu (which doesn’t release viewership numbers) claims that the beloved series was the most-watched comedy program on the service.

The streaming giant isn’t slowing down with adult animated programs, as it will soon release The Paloni Show! Halloween Special! (also created by Roiland), The Koala Man from Smiling Friends Co-Creator Michael Cusack and a revival of the beloved sci-fi series Futurama.

Chaos;Head Noah Steam Release to Proceed as First Planned

1 year 7 months ago

Chaos;Head Noah Steam

Spike Chunsoft announced that the Chaos;Head Noah Steam release, thought cancelled will proceed as planned on October 7, 2022. The game was initially rejected from the storefront due to conflicts with Steam's guidelines. The game will be available as is, without any changes to the original content. Additionally, Spike Chunsoft thanked fans for their vocal support.

Last week, Spike Chunsoft revealed that Chaos;Head Noah would not be able to release on Steam due to "guideline-required changes". While it was unclear which guidelines Chaos;Head Noah violated, Spike Chunsoft stated that the required changes would not allow the game to be released to its standards. As such, the company was looking into releasing the game on alternative storefronts. The announcement led to outcry from fans on social media. Fans of visual novels and similar games (as well as some individuals connected to developers and publishers) have in recent years complained about perceived bias in Valve's review process, with excessive scrutiny directed at games with an "anime" aesthetic or featuring school settings, or decisions and reasoning that seems dependent on the attitudes of individual reviewers at Valve rather than a clear set of guidelines.

Is a Steam Deck Worth It? Opinion

1 year 7 months ago

The Steam Deck is Valve’s latest hardware venture that puts your entire steam library into the palm of your hands. This portable console is aimed at bringing PC gaming everywhere but with power that surpasses what is possible with other handhelds on the market like the Nintendo Switch. This idea sounds promising and incredibly appealing but is a Steam Deck worth it?

The Pros and Cons of a Steam Deck

Since Valve announced that Steam Decks are now available without a reservation, many people are likely considering jumping in and grabbing one while they can. As with any purchase, there are plenty of pros and cons to weigh when deciding whether to get a Steam Deck. Let’s look at the reasons you may or may not want to get one.

Pro: Steam Deck has Games

Without question, the biggest pro for the Steam Deck is the games and the ability to take your entire Steam library on the go. But the access to games goes even further when you start to dive into emulation and expanding your library well beyond Steam and even other online stores.

Pro: Play Next Gen Games

Another pro you cannot ignore is the power that the Steam Deck brings to handheld gaming. Its specs far surpass the Switch and in a world with next-gen consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series, the Switch is really starting to show its age. The hardware will give you the power to run games like Elden Ring which you just can’t expect to ever come to the Switch.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 DLC Also Adds Playable Gamma 1 From Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero

1 year 7 months ago

Today Bandai Namco announced that the upcoming DLC for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 will include Gamma 1 as a playable character.

This was pretty much inevitable as the DLC titled “Hero of Justice Pack 1” focuses on characters from the new movie Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero and also includes Gamma 2.

We still don’t have a release date for the DLC besides a generic “this fall” but as the name suggests, it won’t be the last, another DLC is coming down the line.

You can watch Gamma 1 in action below.

If you think the release of new DLC is quite bonkers since the game was released in October 2016, I certainly won’t blame you, but Dragon Ball has been around for a long time, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Bandai Namco is basing the apparently immortal DLC support to Xenoverse 2 on the longevity of the anime.

It isn’t all that surprising that new DLCs are continuing to chug along of you think that the game has sold over 8 million copies.

That being said, I can’t help but giggle at the fact that the official Steam description of the game still quotes “post launch support for one year.” That’s one really long year, Bandai Namco.

Chaos;Head Noah for Steam Uncanceled as Valve Changes Process that Led to Rejection

1 year 7 months ago

Today Spike Chunsoft announced with a press release that the previous cancellation of the PC Steam version of the Science Adventure visual novel Chaos;Head Noah has been reversed.

The game will regularly launch on Valve’s digital distribution platform on Oct. 7, 2022, as originally planned.

Perhaps even more importantly, Valve itself sent a statement to the publisher, mentioning that the process that caused the rejection to begin with has been changed.

“Valve’s content review team, the group that made the original decision, has re-examined CHAOS;HEAD NOAH and decided to reverse course and allow the game to ship on Steam, as is. We’ve also examined the process that led to the previous decision about CHAOS;HEAD NOAH, and made some changes to avoid situations like this in the future.”

Spike Chunsoft also conveyed its own comment, thanking the fans for their unwavering support, which is identified as the cause behind Steam’s decision to reverse course.

“We believe this decision is the result of the unwavering support from fans of the Science Adventure Series as well as all of the players who are eagerly awaiting the release of this title. Your voices have been heard. We sincerely appreciate your commitment. We look forward to your continued support of Spike Chunsoft and the Science Adventure Series.”

At the moment, we don’t know whether this reversal will have far-reaching consequences for other games that have been on receiving end of Valve’s Content Review Team’s negative attention.

As usual, we’ll have to wait and see.

Chaos;Head Noah will also release on Nintendo Switch at the same time as the Steam release.

The Midnight Club Review – Sinister Stories to Tell in the Dark

1 year 7 months ago

The Midnight Club, the latest series by acclaimed horror creative Mike Flanagan, offers viewers an emotional yet fascinating look at what it’s like to face one’s own mortality and what that means for a person’s beliefs. Yet, does this mean that this is a show worthy of your time? Let’s explore so that you can make that decision for yourself.

The Midnight Club, a series based on author Christopher Pike’s novel by the same name, is about a group of eight young adults who are all terminally ill and living at a hospice. Every night, the residents meet at midnight to look for signs of what awaits them after death, along with telling each other sinister yet deeply personal stories.

First of all, when I say that this series is emotional, I mean it. While there are feel-good scenes in The Midnight Club, this is by no means a happy show. The whole series is incredibly tragic, as it is about eight young adults with so much life and promise who know they are going to die soon rather than later. I want to make it clear that you must be in the right headspace if you are going to check this series out.

Who Is Jack Russell in Werewolf by Night?

1 year 7 months ago

Werewolf by Night is currently streaming on Disney+ just in time for the Halloween season, introducing MCU fans to some of the darkest and most sinister corners of the universe. There are many characters who are introduced in the special, with the lead protagonist being the character of Jack Russell. So, who is Jack Russell in Marvel Studios’ Special Presentation: Werewolf by Night? Well, Twinfinite has the answer for you right here.

Warning: Spoilers below for the Halloween special Werewolf by Night.

Who Is Jack Russell in Werewolf by Night?

Jack Russell, who is also the titular character of Werewolf by Night, is seemingly one of the monster hunters invited to the hunt in honor of Ulysses Bloodstone. Like the other hunters, we are led to believe at first that Russell is there to obtain the bloodstone. It is, however, revealed partly through the special that this is, in fact, a ruse and that Russell is actually there to rescue his buddy Ted, who is also known as Man-Thing. Jack is found out and captured by the hunters, but thanks to a bond he creates with Ulysses’ daughter Elsa, Jack is able to escape and reunite with Ted.

Despite the special being named after his character, Werewolf by Night is, in actuality, a character that we learn very little about during the events of the MCU installment. So, it is up to the character’s history in the comics to help fill in some gaps until Jack Russell makes another appearance in the MCU.

Who Is Man-Thing in Werewolf by Night?

1 year 7 months ago

Werewolf by Night is a Halloween special that has just started streaming on Disney+, in which a few notable comic book characters are introduced, one such character being Man-Thing. So who exactly is this character and what do they have to do with the special presentation? Well, Twinfinite has the answer for you as this is who exactly Ted, aka Man-Thing, is in Werewolf by Night.

Warning: Spoilers for Werewolf by Night will follow.

Who Is Ted, aka Man-Thing, in Werewolf by Night?

Werewolf by Night features a group of monster hunters who are sent off to hunt Man-Thing in a garden maze in order to become the new owner of the bloodstone. However, luckily for Man-Thing, or Ted as his friends call him, Jack Russell, aka Werewolf by Night, has infiltrated the group with the intent to free the creature, a feat that he is able to accomplish with the help of Elsa Bloodstone. After escaping, Ted returns to help rescue Jack from the hunters, and we last see him sitting in the forest with the werewolf.

Unfortunately, we know almost nothing about the Man-Thing of the MCU besides the fact that he has a history with Werewolf by Night and also has some kind of supernatural powers. So really, the only other stuff we have to go off of has to do with the character’s history in the comics.

Boston Dynamics Promises Black Mirror’s Metalhead Won’t Become a Reality

1 year 7 months ago

We’ve all seen Black Mirror, right? Remember that one episode from season 3 that was shot entirely in black and white? The post-apocalyptic episode where humans were on the run from literal death robots that could gun them down within seconds. Well, Boston Dynamics has recently published an open letter pledging that they will not weaponize their general purpose robots. So hopefully, we’ll never have to deal with a Metalhead situation.

The open letter wasn’t just a pledge from the company, it was also a plea to the rest of their peers and competitors in the industry:

“We believe that adding weapons to robots that are remotely or autonomously operated, widely available to the public, and capable of navigating to previously inaccessible locations where people live and work, raises new risks of harm and serious ethical issues.”

In addition to the pledge, the company has also stated a commitment to reviewing customer plans before selling their products, so as to ensure that they’re not being sold to individuals with plans to weaponize them. This isn’t a foolproof plan, of course, as there are undoubtedly ways around such a policy if a buyer was committed enough.

Still, the company believes that commercial general purpose robots still have a ways to go before becoming broadly accepted in society, and so, such policies surrounding their weaponization need to be implemented.

A post on the Lodestone blog advises on precautions for guarding against unauthorised account access, including resetting your Square Enix password.

"We are currently experiencing an attack by a third party that is attempting to gain access to the Square Enix Account Management System by using a combination of email addresses and passwords that appear to have been obtained from other online services of other companies," reads the post.

Batman's dead in Gotham Knights, but are you really playing as Batman in Arkham Asylum?

1 year 7 months ago

I don't know if you've read much about the new Batman game, Gotham Knights. I'll call it a Batman game for simplicity's sake. The truth is - as far as we've been told - this is actually a Batman game in which you don't play as Batman. Batman's dead, so instead you play as four members of the wider Bat family. In fact, this is probably what you've been reading about if you have been reading about the game.

This is all super interesting, I think. Gotham Knights is already a Batman game not made by Rocksteady, and now it doesn't have the main character either - as far as we've been told. I'm intrigued to see the results, but the whole discussion has also made me think about the first Batman game in this series, Arkham Asylum, and how you definitely play as Batman in that - except when it comes to my very favourite moment in the game, which is also the point at which the relationship between player and onscreen avatar becomes a little more complicated.

Firstly, yes, a lot of games complicate this relationship. You control the characters in GTA, for example, but when you're driving to a mission they're talking, and they're saying stuff that is probably a surprise to you, the player, so there's that gap there to ponder. You are the people on the screen, and you must be, because you tell them when to duck, when to reload. But they have a sliver of life that you will never quite get control of, because if you did, the game's narrative wouldn't work.

Say bonjour to Bowser and co in Mario movie trailer in different languages

1 year 7 months ago

Last night, we got our first look at Chris Pratt's Mario and Jack Black's Bowser in the new teaser for the Super Mario Bros. Movie from Illumination.

But this trailer was not only shared in English (the version you can see below). Universal has also been uploading this trailer to its many YouTube channels, meaning we can hear just how Toad, Kamek and the rest of those in the Mushroom Kingdom (that we have seen so far at least) sound in Spanish, Italian and more.

First up, as this one has been garnering a lot of attention on Twitter, here is the French version of Mario making his way to the Mushroom Kingdom. Or, in this case, the Royaume Champignon.

Fortnite: Does it Have Cross-Play?

1 year 7 months ago

Fortnite Battle Royale is now available on pretty much every major platform, offering up some free-to-play action that’s very similar to that seen in PUBG. Players must grab all of the gear they can carry and be the lone survivor at the end of the action. Of course, with this being a free-to-play multiplayer title, many players will be hoping that it has cross-play functionality.

Is There Cross-Play in Fortnite Battle Royale?

The good news is that yes, Fortnite Battle Royale is cross-play and can be enjoyed with your friends regardless of what platform you’re all playing on. That means that if you’re playing on Xbox Series X, you can play with your friend who’s on PS5, and another who’s on PC, and a Switch player to round out your Squad.

Even mobile players can get in on the cross-play fun, too. Essentially, whatever platform you’re playing Fortnite on, you’ll be able to play with your friends on whatever platform they’re on.

You do need to consider that Fortnite will automatically matchmake you into lobbies with people who are on the same platform as the person running the ‘best version’ of the game, so to speak.

For example, if you’re playing on PS5, someone else is playing on mobile, and another friend is playing on PC, Fortnite will automatically put you in lobbies against other PC players, as it wouldn’t be fair for you all to be playing against mobile players who have a lower resolution and more finnicky controls.

A Grisly Sequel to an Iconic Horror Franchise Is Killing It on Streaming

1 year 7 months ago

Of all the villains out there, Michael Myers remains one of the most fiendishly magnetic thanks to his cold and calculated demeanour combined with the simplicity of his motive: he just really loves killing stuff. Few living things manage to evade his shiny kitchen knife, though he does draw the line at children, which does reflect some semblance of integrity… well, for a horror film villain, anyway.

With Halloween Ends poised to drop in theaters on Oct. 15, it seems that folks are lapping up its immediate predecessor likely in a bid to brush up on their knowledge of the slasher series before pulling the trigger on tickets to its sequel. That’s right, 2021’s Halloween Kills is currently killing it right now on streaming. Not only has it nabbed a sixth spot on HBO’s Top 10 most-watched movies charts in the US, but it’s also managed to wangle a sixth spot on Hulu’s as well, according to FlixPatrol.

PUBG Mobile: Is It Cross Platform?

1 year 7 months ago

PUBG Mobile is the battle royale experience you know and love, but on your mobile phone. It’s a great version of the game, managing to capture the core game’s sense of tension and skill-based combat. And while the game is generally pretty similar on mobile devices, there are some subtle differences. There’s auto-looting, auto-sprinting, map indicators for gunshots and footsteps, and an overall pivot to more action-packed gameplay. It’s currently free to download, with in-app purchases making up the bulk of the game’s revenue, and can be downloaded on both Android and iOS devices. The game supports a range of devices, allowing players to tweak framerate and graphics settings to run it smoothly.

Is PUBG Mobile Cross Platform?

It’s possible to team up with friends in PUBG Mobile, in either Duo or Squad mode. Thankfully, the game is indeed cross-platform between mobile devices. This means that if you’re an Android user, you can buddy up with your friend on iOS.

This is easily achieved by adding people you want to play with through Facebook. After they’re added, all you need to do is send invites and build out your team. While there is cross-platform play between mobile devices, it does not extend to other versions of the game.

This means that PC and mobile players cannot jump into matches together, with the same also true for games between Xbox One and Mobile players.

Probably for the best though, as someone playing on a tiny touchscreen would likely get absolutely destroyed by someone playing on a larger screen with a mouse and keyboard. Mobile players can still play together though, with lots of in-game bonuses associated with doing so.
