Film Director Seemingly Confirms New Silent Hill Game From Team Silent

1 year 7 months ago

Please know that while all of this information comes from past and future Silent Hill film director Christophe Gans, he isn’t technically part of Konami and therefore might not have the most complete information. While this sounds fantastic, all of this should be treated as merely possible and thus unconfirmed information for the time being until we get something more concrete from either Konami or a member of Team Silent.

When it comes to pretty great film adaptations for video games, there is a shockingly low number you could come up with. Though, it is a guarantee you’d agree that the first Silent Hill film belongs on that list. Christophe Gans, the director of the first Silent Hill film (only the first) sat down with French YouTube channel MaG – Movie and Game for a quick interview about his 2001 film Brotherhood of the Wolf premiering an extended 4K restoration.

In this interview, Christophe Gans talked about his upcoming Return to Silent Hill film and revealed plenty of alleged information about the future of the Silent Hill games.

In a quote translated by Resetera user Angie, Gans says:

1 year 7 months ago

Some of these nuggets are not quite as apparent as others, specifically the mention of pepper trees. What is a pepper tree in Star Wars? Here’s what you need to know about pepper trees and where they have appeared.

Star Wars Andor Pepper Tree Explained

During a heart-to-heart scene in Episode 5 of Star Wars: Andor, the rebel Skeen, tells Cassian his motivation for joining the “cause.” The Empire destroyed a farm owned by his brother, and shortly after, he took his own life. When Cassian asked, “What kind of farm?” Skeen replied with pepper trees.

When Does FUT Champs Start in FIFA 23? Answered

1 year 7 months ago

FUT Champs graces Ultimate Team once again, giving players yet another opportunity to compete for even more special rewards over the course of several matches. So with the weekend upon us, here’s everything you need to know about when FUT Champs starts in FIFA 23.

FIFA 23 FUT Champs Start Time

FUT Champs kicked off at Midnight PST on Friday, Oct. 7, 2022, and runs for 72 hours until Monday, Oct. 10, 2022. Players can expect that same schedule every week for the foreseeable future from here on out.

How Do Players Qualify for FUT Champs?

In order to qualify for FUT Champs in FIFA 23, players need to earn a certain amount of qualification points through Division Rivals. To qualify, you’ll need to bank 1,250 points. However, players do not need to get them all in one week to qualify, as points do roll over.

That said, once you do have enough points to enter the competition, you’ll still have to qualify for the FUT Champs Finals. In order to do this, players must earn 20 points over 10 qualification matches—which translates to five wins—in order to move on to the next round.

FUT Champs Rewards

As is always the case, these game modes do ramp up the rewards depending on how well you do. This is arguably FIFA’s most competitive game mode, after all. Here’s the ranking breakdown:

Who Is Elsa Bloodstone & What Is the Bloodstone in Werewolf by Night?

1 year 7 months ago

Werewolf by Night, a Halloween special currently streaming on Disney+, further expands upon the horror corner of the MCU. In doing so, there are multiple new characters and terms that could be quite important going forward, with one character, in particular, being Elsa Bloodstone and her Bloodstone. So, who exactly is Elsa Bloodstone and what is the Bloodstone? Well, Twinfinite has the answer for you.

***Warning: Spoilers for Werewolf by Night are below.***

Who Is Elsa Bloodstone in Werewolf by Night?

Ulysses Bloodstone’s daughter Elsa is one of the hunters trying to become the successor of the Bloodstone by hunting Man-Thing, which is the setup of Werewolf by Night. This is because, for mostly unknown reasons, Elsa had become estranged from her father, though it is hinted that her stepmother Verussa was at least partly responsible for them being estranged. In the comics, their strained relationship is largely because Ulysses was uber strict and basically tortuous in the challenges he put his daughter through with her training.

During the events of the Halloween special, Elsa befriends Jack Russell, who ends up killing the Bloodstone estate’s guards. Then in the special’s climax, Man-Thing ends up murdering Verussa, which allows Elsa to take over her father’s estate, with her claiming the Bloodstone in the final moments of the special.

The new EA app replacing Origin is still a launcher you'll only ever use when forced to

1 year 7 months ago

Electronic Arts have formally launched their new store client doodad after a long open beta, replacing the much-maligned Origin with something they refer to as "the EA app" (its actual name is only "EA"). They say it's faster and better. I think maybe it is? But it doesn't really matter, as long as it's not a disaster, because it's not like you're using it unless you have to anyway. Just like Origin before it, the new EA app is an inconvenience you must accept to play the EA games which require it, and beyond that it is useless. It does an okay job of that.

Nilou in Genshin Impact Will Have Stance-Based Skill

1 year 7 months ago

genshin impact nilou

HoYoVerse has released some information on Nilou, who will debut as a playable unit in Genshin Impact Version 3.1 Phase II. She will be a 5-star Hydro Sword user, and is a familiar face for those who played the Sumeru Archon Quest. She can work as both a main DPS or a sub DPS, and will benefit the most from having a Dendro character in your party. This is because her Golden Chalice's Bounty Talent is essentially a buff for the Bloom reaction.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhvEIQj92w0

Nilou will only have three Normal Attacks in her combo chain. Her Elemental Skill is Dance of Haftkarsvar, which is a stance system similar to Tartaglia’s. Nilou will enter the Pirouette state, and all of her attacks will convert to Hydro DMG (scales with HP). If you use her Normal Attack in this state, she enters the Sword Dance stance; if you use her Elemental Skill, she enters the Whirling Steps stance. Completing the third step will end her Pirouette state and deal an effect depending on what stance she is in.

Das Keyboard MacTigr review: a brilliant typing experience

1 year 7 months ago

Specifically designed mechanical boards for Macs have long been neglected, apart from little-known Matias keyboards or Apple's own Mac keyboards in the 80s. Enter Das Keyboard to redress the balance with the amusingly named MacTigr. This keyboard offers a full Mac layout, mechanical switches, a volume knob and plenty of creature comforts - but is it worth its exorbitant $219 asking price?

First, my credientials: as someone that splits their time between Windows and MacOS, I've long been agitating for a proper dedicated MacOS keyboard to swap to. For too long Mac users have been lumbered with the runts of the litter when it comes to keyboards - the current selection is generally awash with non-mechanical options with mushier keys and less consistent key action - and even Apple's own Magic Keyboards aren't all that magic. So, the MacTigr has the potential to deliver a considerable upgrade, with the functionality that Mac users rely on and the mechanical switches they don't know they're missing.

The MacTigr is a board that offers the traditional Mac layout, odd function keys and all, in a clean and sharp-looking package. The outer casing is comprised almost entirely of metal with a steel top plate and aluminium casing, which means the MacTigr features plenty of heft - it weighs in at 2.4lbs, or just over a kilo for metric users. It's remarkably well made, with no signs of deck flex in the case, even under intense typing load, and feels excellent. Despite that heft though, the MacTigr is especially slim and modern looking, especially thanks to its use of MX Low Profile switches, which I'll talk about in a moment.

No Man's Sky's big 4.0 update is out now with some very lengthy patch notes

1 year 7 months ago

No Man's Sky's big new 4.0 update - now officially titled Waypoint - is finally out in the wild. But while developer Hello Games broke from tradition for this latest releases, revealing some of its additions ahead of launch, the studio has now shared some extremely lengthy patch notes, discussing its contents in considerably more granular detail.

The top-level stuff we already knew about; as Hello Games boss Sean Murray told Eurogamer earlier this week, Waypoint - which arrives alongside a new Switch port for No Man's Sky - is less about big new additions and more about major quality of life improvements.

To that end, Hello Games had previously teased a bunch of rejigging and streamlining intended to turn No Man's Sky's last six years of updates "into a more cohesive whole", as well as a new, less grindy Relaxed mode, a Survival mode revamp, plus extensive options for custom games.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare II PC Trailer Is a Thing of Beauty

1 year 7 months ago

Earlier today on YouTube, a brand-new trailer for the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II was dropped on the official Call of Duty channel. However, no console gameplay was shown off. Rather, this trailer focused on the game’s pristine and stunning visuals that are still only possible on the highest-end PCs.

Most of the trailer is an unabashed feast for the eyes. It’s all about putting out the most realistic visuals that the current top-end hardware allows. At the same time, it mentioned a handful of PC-specific features that may interest gamers who don’t play on consoles.

First off, it looks like Modern Warfare II will be available for purchase on two different storefronts digitally. PC players can purchase and download the game via Blizzard’s Battle.net or Valve’s Steam.

Next up the trailer mentioned that this new Call of Duty title will support a couple of types of PC displays that are common among PC gamers. The game will playable in 4K as has been a standard resolution on the platform for many years. On top of that, Modern Warfare II on PC will also support ultrawide displays. Yet, they didn’t mention exactly what aspect ratios will be supported.

The Ricochet Anti-Cheat system will also be making a return for online play. Community discussion about this system goes back and forth, but for the most part, it seems like it works well enough for it to keep coming back.

Horizon Forbidden West’s Thunderjaw Will Have a Moderoid Model Kit

1 year 7 months ago

Horizon Forbidden West Thunderjaw Moderoid

Thunderjaw, the dinosaur-like machine from the Horizon series, will have a plastic model kit. Good Smile Company revealed a painted prototype of the Thunderjaw Moderoid kit at New York Comic Con 2022.

Moderoid is a series of plastic model kits from Good Smile Company, which is best known for its Nendoroid and Figma action figures. The company has previously worked on Moderoids of the three Magic Knights from Magic Knight Rayearth and the Divine Knight Valimar from The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel.

Since the Thunderjaw will appear as a plastic model kit, people can expect to reproduce the machine by assembling parts from the package's runners. They can also opt to customize the kit further by repainting it or adding weathering effects. However, Good Smile Company has yet to announce a release window for the Thunderjaw Moderoid as of this writing.

While the company listed Horizon Forbidden West as the title where Thunderjaw comes from, the machine made its debut in the series' first entry, Horizon Zero Dawn. The Thunderjaw was also the large enemy that series protagonist Aloy had to fight in Zero Dawn's reveal trailer in E3 2015.

1 year 7 months ago

As the nights start drawing in and the spectre of Halloween looms on the horizon, Planet Zoo is getting just a little bit spooky with the announcement of its new nocturnal-themed Twilight Pack DLC, launching on 18th October.

The big draw of Planet Zoo's DLC is always its creature addtions, and the Twilight Pack brings five new nocturnal species: the Racoon, Red Fox, Common Wombat, Striped Skunk, and Egyptian Fruit Bat. The first four of those are free-roaming, meaning you can plop them wherever you please, while the Egyptian Fruit Bat is restricted to a walkthrough exhibit.

Players looking to infuse their zoos with a touch of gothic flair for Halloween can make use of the Twilight Pack's 200 new scenery items, ranging from castle-themed building parts - including gargoyles and an imposing portcullis - to glowing pumpkins and cauldrons. Splatoon 3's Next Splatfest Is a Pokémon Collab

1 year 7 months ago

Splatoon 3's next Splatfest will be themed after Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, asking players to choose which type of Starter Pokémon they go for.

Taking place the weekend ahead of Scarlet and Violet's November 18 release date, running from November 11 to 13, the Splatfest will grant players Pokémon themed shirts depending on which type they choose, Grass, Fire, or Water.

The green grass shirt features a silhouette of new starter Pokémon Sprigatito on the back, the orange fire shirt features Fuecoco, and the blue water shirt has Quaxly.

Nintendo has also promised that the Splatsville hub area will be decorated in celebration of the event, encouraging anyone playing Splatoon 3 that weekend to participate.

Having only launched in September, Splatoon 3 hasn't had many Splatfests so far, but its first one asked players to join teams based on what they'd bring to a deserted island: gear, grub, or fun. There will likely be many more, however, as Splatoon 2's Splatfests ran for years after the game was released, with Nintendo rewarding players who stuck around with bonuses in Splatoon 3.

She-Hulk Episode 8 Confirms This Massive MCU Worldbuilding Detail

1 year 7 months ago

In the latest episode of She-Hulk Attorney At Law, an absolute bombshell of a reveal was dropped as an almost throwaway line. During the scene where Matt Murdock is defending Luke Jacobson, he is talking about superhero anonymity and quickly mentions that the Sokovia Accords had been repealed like it was common knowledge.

As far as the end of this massive international legal document goes, that was the first mention of the Sokovia Accords no longer existing in the MCU. The implications for this are also massive since it allows powered people around the world to again live in anonymity without having to submit any DNA or fingerprint data to the UN.

Even bigger yet, it’s also a marker of the end of the catalyst that broke up the Avengers. One of the main reasons why they split up in the first place was their disagreement over the Sokovia Accords. This opens the opportunity for a new team of Avengers to form leading up to The Kang Dynasty in 2025.

Additionally, this also will allow for the team known as the Thunderbolts to join together under the leadership of Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. Then again this team filled with anti-heroes probably wouldn’t have worried too much about international law in the first place. Still, this will allow the team to go wherever they please instead of being confined to their native borders.

The final episode of She-Hulk is set to start streaming next week on Thursday, October 13 exclusively on Disney+. Episodes one through eight are currently available to stream on the service.

Game Director Confirms Deathloop & Dishonored Have One Massive Thing in Common

1 year 7 months ago

In the most recent Xbox Podcast, Arkane Studios game director Dinga Bakaba revealed that Deathloop and Dishonored two share one pretty massive thing in common: they take place in the same universe. Albeit, Deathloop is certainly the future end of the universe.

In the later segment with Dinga Bakaba and Arkane Studios creative director Harvey Smith, host Jeff Rubenstein mentions that after beating the game he took to the internet and found that the consensus seems to be that most believe based on “sound hints” and other things that Deathloop and Dishonored share a wider universe.

Dinga Bakaba responds by celebrating the game’s scattered puzzles and hints and mentions that not everyone will have seen all the hints due to the explorative nature of the game. Because of that, he says it was nice to see the community band together and piece the undercurrent narrative together.

He sums it up by saying “Yes, we did. We envision Deathloop to be happening in the future after Death of the Outsider”. While they did want Deathloop to be its own thing, Bakaba does mention the team’s desire to put in lots of little hints to Dishonored. He also says that Arkane has a sort of timeline between the games, so it’s possible we will see more games in the universe, but that’s just a guess.

Below you can find the Xbox Podcast set to just about the exact moment that Dinga Bakaba officially reveals the connection between Deathloop and Dishonored.

But, the real kicker was a potential tease of an upcoming game, as the label sticker also had the message, “Hungry for more? Try our new Wompa Pizza for $12.08.” The “price” just so happens to match the day when The 2022 Game Awards is set to air (12/08), hinting that we might want to watch it to get some news about what’s next for our favorite orange Marsupial.

Crash Bandicoot has had a big resurgence in the gaming industry for the past five years. A remastered collection of the first three games, Crash Bandicoot: The N-Sane Trilogy, was released in 2017 on PS4 before arriving on other platforms a year later.

Get Ready to be Healed Anime Fans; The Great Cleric Adaptation Revealed

1 year 7 months ago

Yesterday, it was officially revealed that The Great Cleric anime will be adapted from the light novels by Broccoli Lion and the manga by Hiiro Akikaze. This comes according to the Japanese news website Comic Natalie, which posted about the news, as well as an illustrated original key visual done by creator Akikaze.

Dating all the way back to 2015, Broccoli Lion’s light novels were the basis of the 2017 manga, which is now the current storyline of the series. The 10th volume was released this past January, proving that this series is continuing to please fans.

The story revolves around a salaryman named Luciel who’s been reincarnated into a magical world named Galdardia after being fatally shot. In his previous life, he was known for being a nice guy, having a good heart, and being a hard worker.

Now that he’s Galdardia, he’s decided to pursue the study of healing in order to help others and prolong his life. The problem is he needs to learn how to heal, and finding training is not as easy as he thought. In order to get by, he has to start from scratch to learn about the magic of his new world and survive all of the dangerous threats in the process.

Being an isekai anime, fans of fantasy, RPGs, and other worlds will gravitate towards this series for its setting and familiar tropes. However, this is not a typical action-oriented anime by any means and takes its time to focus on Luciel’s training as he struggles to make ends meet.

Chainsaw Man Is Going to Rip Its Way Into the Annals of Anime History (Episode 1 Preview)

1 year 7 months ago

Hype can be a dangerous thing, especially when it comes to anime. Many a show has been propelled into the public eye thanks to a stellar trailer and good word of mouth from fans of the manga source material, only for the final product to not live up to their expectations. Such could have easily been the fate of Chainsaw Man, which garnered astronomical levels of attention after its promotional art and trailers hinted at a show with next level animation and art direction but could still fall flat if not handled properly.

Having watched the first episode of the upcoming anime, I can safely say it’s handily avoiding being a fatal flop. Instead, Chainsaw Man is set to be everything it appeared to be and more, with the designation of being a modern anime classic lying firmly within its grasp.

Most of this is thanks to the fact that the show is just as much the artistic marvel that its trailers made it out to be. Every frame is so painstakingly crafted by the show’s animation studio MAPPA that they could all be mistaken for works of art. Something as simple as the series’ protagonist Denji walking down the street or going to bed while cuddling with his pet Pochita is bursting with detail and a distinctness that makes it feel like something fresh, lively and passionate.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns Explores the History of Blade With New Video

1 year 7 months ago

2K Games and Firaxis Games revealed a new video for the turn-based tactical game Marvel’s Midnight Suns, dedicated to one of its playable superheroes.

We get to learn more about the Daywalker, also known as Blade, and we actually learn that he wasn’t always the Daywalker.

Unlike the previous brief introduction trailer, this time around we hear about the story of Blade, from his mortal beginnings to his more recent nature as half-vampire. Considering the nature of the game and the supernatural setting, it certainly fits Blade like a glove, or perhaps his omnipresent shades.

Given the pattern of previous videos, we can expect a much more extensive video explaining Blade’s card deck and battlefield role in detail.

In the meanwhile, you can check this one out below.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns releases on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC on Dec. 2, with PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One versions to be shared at a later date.

Overwatch 2 Chat Bug Is Randomly Buying Skins From The Shop

1 year 7 months ago

Though Overwatch 2’s wait times have seemingly improved after maintenance on the game’s servers last night, you still might want to wait a bit if you’re looking for an entirely bug-free experience—especially if you don’t like bugs that might be spending premium currency on hero skins without your consent while using…

If you're hankering after Bayonetta 3, Valkyrie Elysium might be a good substitute

1 year 7 months ago

I keep forgetting Valkyrie Elysium's PC release date is later than its console one. The action platformer came out on PlayStation late last week, but it's not coming to Steam until November 11th. So far, reviews have been quite middling, which isn't wholly surprising in some sense, but having played the public demo the other week, I'm not ashamed to say that I had a pretty all right time with it! Based on two hours of play time, I'd say it's very much in the same kind of vein as your Bayonettas and Nier: Automatas, and I'm 100% down for that.
