Upscaled Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Map Offers Closer Look at Paldea Region

1 year 8 months ago

During today's Pokemon Presents presentation, the Pokemon team revealed a full map of Paldea, the region where Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet are set. While the official map is slightly blurry, a fanmade upscaled version is now giving us a clearer look at the Paldea region.

Today, IGN's own Ryan Quintal created an upscaled version of the map, revealing notable details of the region in a Twitter thread.

Quintal pointed out how diverse the map is, making note of several desert regions, seaside towns, smaller, grassy towns, and mountainous cliffside locations. Find all the details of Quintal's map below:

The Pokemon Company also revealed further details about Paldea on its website, stating that it's filled with "a variety of locations, ranging from a farming village with bountiful harvests to a port town with a bustling marketplace."

Pokemon will also occupy every nook and cranny of Paldea's diverse terrain, living in "treetops, rivers, and all sorts of other locations in the wilderness."

Once Again, the Pokémon Community Is Memeing the Heck out of the Last Pokémon Presents

1 year 8 months ago

In today's Pokémon Presents, we got an extended look at Pokémon Scarlet and Violet which included new Pokémon, features, characters, and more. And, as it usually does when we see new Pokémon footage lately, social media immediately erupted with a flurry of incredible memes.

First, let's get the thing you're really here to see out of the way: Fidough. A new Pokémon named Fidough was revealed today which is, deliciously, a dog made out of bread dough whose breath is apparently a very effective yeast.

The internet has gone to town on this little guy, with reactions ranging from expressing deep love for the pure-bread pup to, disturbingly, wanting to cook and eat him.

First MultiVersus Season 1 Battle Pass Details Revealed

1 year 8 months ago

As MultiVersus enters its second week of open beta, its first official Season is on its way. Though we're just under a week away from Season 1's launch, fans still have plenty of questions regarding the Season 1 Battle Pass.

Today, MultiVersus director Tony Huynh responded to a fan's Tweet with some details about the game's Season 1 Battle Pass. According to Huynh, the pass will cost 950 Gleamium — the game's paid currency — and offer 50 tiers.

1000 Gleamium is equivalent to roughly $9.99, meaning the Season 1 Battle Pass will cost a bit less than $10.

Currently, the Preseason Battle Pass is running until August 8. It's much cheaper than the Season 1 Battle Pass at only 300 Gleamium, but it only has 15 tiers of character skins, profile icons, XP, coins, and cosmetics.

While we don't know much else about the Season 1 Battle Pass, we do know that Season 1, which launches on August 9, will introduce Rick and Morty's Morty.

Microsoft Flight Simulator Fokker F28, C-17, & Newark Airport Get New Screenshots & Dev Updates; Kagoshima Released & Pristina Announced

1 year 8 months ago

Third-party developers continue to work hard on add-ons for Microsoft Flight Simulator, and new reveals and a release have been shared today.

We start with Just Flight, which provided a development update and new screenshots of its upcoming Fokker F28 Fellowship vintage regional airliner.

“As mentioned in our last development update, the F28 team have been very busy working on extensive upgrades to the cockpit, and here some of the results!

Between the four variants of the F28, and the many operators over its decades of services, no two cockpits are guaranteed to be alike in the real-world. Therefore we have reconfigured the cockpit to match the real aircraft that we visited at the Fokker Technical College, for the most authentic environment possible. Our artists have upgraded the visual fidelity of every area of the cockpit and are now working on even higher texture resolution for pin-sharp clarity, whilst our testing team, which includes F28 flight, engineering and training crew, have been hard at work checking over every inch of the cockpit as development work progresses.

We’ve included some screenshots showing the stunning cockpit lighting. The F28 has a very different look to other airliners, including the hundreds of large and brightly-coloured annunciator and warning lights, adding to the unique and immersive feel of the aircraft.”

Is Bakugo Dead in My Hero Academia? Answered (Updated)

1 year 8 months ago

Going into the final arc of My Hero Academia, it was clear that some characters wouldn’t make it out alive. The stakes are too high, the enemies are too fierce, and it wouldn’t be a proper Shonen story without a heroic death or two. Some deaths were bound to hit harder than others though, and if you’ve heard the news or seen the relevant chapter, you’re probably wondering: Is Bakugo dead in My Hero Academia? Well, whether we like it or not, we’ve got the answer you’re looking for.

*Warning: Massive My Hero Academia Manga Spoilers Ahead. If you are behind on the comic or only watch the anime, turn back now*

Does Bakugo Die in My Hero Academia? Answered

Based on what occurs in My Hero Academia’s manga chapter 362, Bakugo does in fact die and is currently dead.

This comes at the hands of the All for One-controlled Shigaraki, who he had been facing down in an attempt to buy time until Deku could arrive and take on the big bad in their climactic confrontation. Though he had the support of UA’s Big Three, a slew of Pro Heroes and several of his classmates, All for One proved too strong thanks to the implanting of his many gathered quirks into the younger and less worn Shigaraki’s body.

Likewise, All for One was dead set on killing Bakugo for a couple of reasons. One was to wound Izuku as deeply as possible, potentially putting him into a frenzied enough state so that he couldn’t use One for All properly. The other is that Bakugo posed a serious threat to All for One, wielding his Explosion quirk with enough skill that he may have stood a chance against him under different circumstances.

Joaquin Phoenix Will Return in 2024 for Joker: Folie à Deux

1 year 8 months ago

Back in June this year, director Todd Phillips shared the good news that Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck AKA the Joker, will be returning for a sequel titled Joker: Folie à Deux. While that was certainly welcome news, not many other details were shared about the movie. Now, thanks to a report by Variety, we know that Joker: Folie à Deux will be set to debut on the big screen on October 4, 2024.

If you have been counting, that means the sequel is coming out five years exactly after the first film, which is poetic in its own right. While the release date is one to look forward to, it remains to be seen just what shape and form the film will take, with earlier reports suggesting that it will be a musical that will involve Lady Gaga joining the cast.

Director Todd Phillips, whose work on the first film saw 11 Academy Award nominations in total, will be returning to direct the sequel, while also co-writing the screenplay with Scott Silver. Having generated more than $1 billion globally, it will be a tough act to follow, but that is exactly what Warner Bros. is hoping to replicate or surpass.

Does Dead by Daylight Have Cross-Progression?

1 year 8 months ago

Since its release back in 2016, Behaviour Interactive’s survival horror asymmetric multiplayer experience, Dead by Daylight, has massively grown. Numerous events have introduced new killers and survivors from anime like Attack on Titan or survival horror experiences like Resident Evil. With so much content to indulge in, it’d only be fair for there to be a hot feature such as cross-progression in the game in order to bring the content anywhere and everywhere. Here’s what you need to know on whether or not Dead by Daylight has cross-progression.

Does Dead by Daylight Have Cross-Progression? – Answered

Technically speaking, Dead by Daylight does not have cross progression on standard consoles and PC. However, it does have cross progression between the Google Stadia and Steam.

Behavior Interactive has been pretty coy when it comes to implementing cross-progression in Dead by Daylight. The developer has given the response that it’s being worked on but no timetable or update has been given. However, if you own a Google Stadia and have a Steam account you can transfer over your data between both platforms.

The process of linking both Stadia and Steam for cross-progression is pretty straightforward. Sign in to or create a Behaviour Interactive account, and from there the option to link accounts will be present. Once that is complete, your progress and your inventory, which include DLCs, purchases, and skins, will be synchronized. Only one account can be linked per platform, and if you decide to unlink your account, you’ll lose your progress and be reset back to where you were before linking accounts.

1 year 8 months ago

Following the reveal for unspecified consoles a few weeks ago, 3goo announced the platforms and more details about the 2D fighting game The Rumble Fish 2.

The game will release worldwide this Winter for PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. A specific release date has not been shared so far.

The Rumble Fish 2, was released in Japanese arcades in 2005 and it never made it officially to consoles, until now. It has since gained a cult following among fighting game lovers.

Known for their smooth anime-style animation thanks to the S.M.A. (Smooth Model Animation) tech, the series is fairly well known in Japan, but pretty obscure in the west, since it never was officially released in the arcades in Europe or North America.

This new port will include several adjustments and new features to bring it up to speed with the times, including 16:9 aspect ratio, online gameplay, a new training mode, and rollback netcode.

In training mode you can customize the AI behavior to learn your characters, and there is also a gallery mode that will let you enjoy the artwork, music, behind-the-scenes information, and more.

Halo 2 $20.000 LASO No-Death Challenge Beaten by Twitch Streamer JerValiN

1 year 8 months ago

The world of video games is already full of challenges, but sometimes, players just like to take things up a notch to prove their mastery of certain titles or genres. For Halo players, that has always been the case when it comes to completing a LASO campaign, meaning a full run on the hardest difficulty of Legendary with all gameplay modifiers, or Skulls, turned on. If that wasn’t enough to scare you off, how about the challenge of completing a full LASO run with zero deaths?

That was the gauntlet thrown down by content creator Charlie ‘Cr1tikal’ White to the Halo community at large. It is important to stress that other than not turning on the Envy Skull, which turns Master Chief invisible, every other Skull is working against the player. The first player to finish a Halo 2 Anniversary LASO run without dying even once will walk away with a $20,000 prize. The initial challenge with a $5,000 prize saw no takers, or perhaps, no one that competent to try, which led to Cr1tikal quadrupling his offer.

Enter Twitch streamer and Halo 2 speedrunner JerValiN, who not only took on the challenge, but crushed it in six hours, 29 minutes, and 44.17 seconds. This historic run involved not just careful and strategic gameplay, but also made use of certain skips and glitches to make life a little bit easier.

Earlier today MultiVersus director Tony Huynh outlined a few details on his own Twitter account about the now delayed Season 1 Battle Pass. The news follows last week’s confirmation that the game would not see progress reset for players now that the game is in open beta.

Tactics Ogre: Reborn Officially Announced by Square Enix for PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, & PC

1 year 8 months ago

Following the leak a couple of months ago, Square Enix has finally officially announced Tactics Ogre: Reborn.

It’ll release on November 11 with physical and digital Standard Editions on PS5, PS4 and Nintendo Switch, with a digital-only Standard Edition available on PC via Steam.

A Digital Premium Edition will also be available for all platforms.

Japan is also getting a Collector’s Edition which has not been confirmed for the west and for which I wouldn’t hold my breath.

The game is based on the 2010 PSP remake of the original Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together, but it doesn’t just improve the graphics and sound. The gameplay has also been evolved to create a new Tactics Ogre in line with the times.

Square Enix plans to provide veterans with an experience that surpasses their memories, while new players will enjoy an “unprecedented” experience.

The UI has been overhauled to enhance the quality of life, cutscenes will be fully voiced, sound effects have been redone, and the background music has been re-recorded.

The battles have been redesigned including the AI and character progression.

Characters and backgrounds have been redesigned in higher resolution, but the pixel art style has been preserved.

The redesign of the UI aims to make it easier to find information and simpler to complete tasks.

The new audio includes both English and Japanese voice-overs, and you can switch at any time.

The re-recorded music was produced by the original composer Hitoshi Sakimoto using a live orchestra. He also wrote new songs to integrate the soundtrack.

Does Gaara Die in Naruto Shippuden?

1 year 8 months ago

Death is a popular topic to talk about in the Naruto franchise. Some characters live while others die. Some characters are immortal. And some, and eventually A LOT of characters are simultaneously brought back to life in the series. But today we answer the question, does Gaara die in Naruto Shippuden?

Does Gaara Die in Naruto Shippuden?

If you’re okay with spoilers and looking for the short and sweet answer, then yes at some point in the series Gaara does in fact die. However, he only remains dead for a small period of time and is eventually brought back to life. For more details on how and why, the information is all right below here!

Who is Gaara in Naruto?

Naruto is one of the most well-known and beloved anime/manga franchises of all time, and has introduced many beloved characters into the franchise over the many years. Gaara is one of those beloved characters, but he did not start out beloved by everyone. Gaara was first introduced in the anime Naruto in Season 1 Episode 21 “Identify Yourself: Powerful New Rivals” and chapter 35 of the manga, where he was actually introduced as an upcoming antagonist of the Chunin Exams Arc.

It wasn’t until later on until episode 48 where we finally saw this come to fruition where he fought against another beloved character, Rock Lee, and almost killed him.

Gaara would then later go on to fight Naruto in episode 77 where the two clashed for multiple episodes until eventually, Naruto won. After this fight, he would then go through a substantial change in his personality, where in his last few appearances in Naruto, he would begin to make amends with those he had wronged in the past and began making some friends, starting with Naruto.

Red Dead Online - an untamed playground to make your own fun

1 year 8 months ago

Have you ever met a cheater in Red Dead Online? I have - a few times, in fact. The latest encounter came at the worst possible moment, after I had spent an hour painstakingly hunting animals to fill up my wagon with pelts. I had set off on a trader mission across the map, opting for a risky long-haul voyage that left me open to attack.

A potential shootout with a player was a risk I could accept: combating an invisible god-like assailant, however, was something I really hadn't signed up for. Out of nowhere, I was transformed into a flying saucer. It didn't take long for me to realise what was happening - Red Dead Online is notorious for its cheaters, and one of them had decided to spend their evening targeting me.

It turns out that driving a wagon as a spaceship is quite difficult. The ship was so vast that it obscured my view, and the glow from its lights made navigating the pitch-black desert almost impossible. Using my mini-map to steer, I somehow made my way to my destination, but my ordeal wasn't over quite yet. I had some bandits to deal with.

Rare talks captaincy, personalisation, and waterfalls ahead of Sea of Thieves' big new update

1 year 8 months ago

For those who've been with Sea of Thieves since its release back in 2018, the captaincy update is a thing of legend; originally intended to be the multiplayer pirate adventure's very first post-launch update, it would give players the opportunity to acquire their own persistent vessel on the seas, and - in a proposition that still excites the pirate in me to this day - start their sessions in a gloriously dramatic fashion, bursting through the Legendary Hideout's massive waterfall out into the world. But then Sea of Thieves' slightly wobbly launch happened, and Rare shifted its focus to fleshing out the game's sandbox following criticism of its limited core. With that, the captaincy update was set aside, but never quite forgotten by the player base, gradually becoming the stuff of legend with the passing of time.

But then, earlier this year, it returned. As announced during Microsoft's June showcase, captaincy and boat ownership were, after all this time, back on the cards. Now, the wait is finally over, with Sea of Thieves' near-five-years-in-the-making captaincy update launching later today. It promises to deliver an elaborate new framework for adventures to come - minus any waterfall-busting ship shenanigans, unfortunately - and ahead of its arrival Eurogamer had the opportunity to chat with Rare about what it hopes captaincy will bring to the Sea of Thieves.

Dead By Daylight Resident Evil Crossover Adds Killer Albert Wesker

1 year 8 months ago

Dead By Daylight Resident Evil Wesker

Behaviour Interactive officially revealed that Albert Wesker will be the new killer appearing as part of the Dead By Daylight x Resident Evil crossover event. The event, Project W, will also feature Ada Wong and Rebecca Chambers as the two new survivor characters. Behaviour Interactive has not yet announced a release date for the upcoming chapter.

Project W is the 25th chapter of the asymmetrical horror game Dead By Daylight, and is the second chapter featuring characters and enemies from the Resident Evil franchise. Behaviour Interactive previously teased the crossover with a short clip back in May 2022, though the characters did not appear. Alongside the latest announcement, the company also released a short trailer featuring Wesker, Ada, and Rebecca.

Notably, the trailer reveals that Albert Wesker will be based on the character's appearance from Resident Evil 5, complete with his full black duster getup. This Wesker also has control over the prototype T-Virus and Uroboros Virus, possessing the ability to use tentacle-like appendages. Ada Wong appears to be wearing her iconic red dress, while Rebecca is wearing her rescue outfit. As the name of the chapter suggests, the Uroboros Project and Project W will likely be the key themes of the crossover.

The Guard’s Valorant LCQ Hype Trailers Look Clean Enough to Pass as Official Lore

1 year 8 months ago

It’s crunch time for The Guard’s Valorant roster as they prepare to showdown with seven other of North America’s best teams in the Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) tournament tonight. The team’s successes over the next few months are hugely consequential for The Guard, with not only prize money and glory on the line but also chances of securing a franchising partnership with Riot Games for 2023.

With so much at stake, The Guard has put together cinematic trailers to hype up the occasion and, hopefully, help cheer their team across the line. But these are no mere run-of-the-mill montages. Instead, they’re full-on cinematic trailers with exceptionally crafted CGI, and they look so good I thought I was at first watching official lore cinematics for the game.

Made by @dovanivan, the cinematic is part of a series The Guard has been running over the past week or so introducing their players ahead of LCQ. You can check out an example below for Trent.

A Super Fun Tom Holland Action Blockbuster Sets Its Sights on Streaming Domination

1 year 8 months ago

If you were to ask me whether or not the filmic adaptation of Nathan Drake’s video game escapades would be a hit or a miss, I would’ve probably wagered that’d it be a bust. My thought process behind that fact is largely because the Uncharted movie project had ostensibly been in development hell for many years before it finally reached theaters, which is usually a red flag for movies like this.

Nevertheless, despite my ambivalence for an Uncharted film (FYI, I absolutely love the video game series the source material is based upon), I still went to the cinema and checked it out for myself. My thoughts on the pic? Well, it’s a surprisingly entertaining popcorn flick with the beloved Spider-Man actor charming audiences with his doe-eyed charisma.

Today, however, it seems that the Uncharted movie has made a resurgence on streaming platforms. According to FlixPatrol, Uncharted has climbed its way to the number 5 spot on HBO’s bespoke streaming platform, meaning it’s one of the most watched films on there right now.

Boasting an impressive box office haul of $401.7 million off a budget of $120 million, it’s fair to say that the pic was a box office success. Further, the Uncharted film released at the tail-end of the pandemic, which likely impacted bums on seats due to ongoing restrictions around the globe.

Twitch streamer beats "impossible" $20k Halo 2 challenge

1 year 8 months ago

A Twitch streamer has achieved the impossible by completing the $20,000 (£16,400) Halo 2 challenge.

The challenge, set earlier this year by streamer Charlie "Cr1tikal" White, was that someone had to complete the entirety of the Halo 2 Anniversary campaign without dying on Legendary difficulty, with all "Skull" modifiers on.

The effect of the modifiers range from increasing the health of enemies to all enemies being permanently cloaked. The only modifier that must be kept off is "Envy" skull, which replaces Master Chief's torch with an active camouflage system (because that would make things too easy).
