Rumours suggest new Iron Man game coming from EA

1 year 8 months ago

Rumours suggest EA is currently working on a new Iron Man video game.

Earlier this year, Jeff Grubb reported that a Black Panther game was in the works with EA. Now, the loose-lipped journalist has shared that another Marvel project is also underway with the company.

Chatting as part of Giant Bomb's Game Mess Mornings stream, Grubb stated: "[EA is] making that Black Panther game we spoke about... and [it's] making another Marvel game that's single player". This comment was said in a rather throw away manner, but, of course, it was quickly picked up by the internet.

genshin impact reminiscent regimen

The Reminiscent Regimen event is now live in the Golden Apple Archipelago in Genshin Impact. It will remain open until August 15, 2022. Players will need to be over Adventure Rank 32, as well as complete the “Summertime Odyssey: I” quest, in order to participate. There will be three different types of challenges, with a new one unlocking every day for the first six days.

The three types of challenges in the Reminiscent Regimen Genshin Impact event are Descent, Raid, and Convoy. You can play the event, which is co-op only, with a custom co-op group or match with random players. Descent challenges are ones where you float down from the sky and fight opponents on floating platforms.

Raid challenges place you in a Waverider and you have to reach the goal within the time limit. You also need to board platforms to defeat the enemies on them. Finally, Convoy challenges have you protect a Driftstone Raft. It needs to reach a designated spot without the enemies destroying it.

Aside from Reminiscent Regimen, there are still other ongoing events available in Genshin Impact. For example, there is Hidden Strife, which presents various battles as challenges. The next event, Evermotion Mechanical Painting, will start on August 12 and end on August 22, 2022.

Mega Man Battle & Fighters Appears on Nintendo Switch

1 year 8 months ago

Mega Man Battle & Fighters on Nintendo Switch

SNK has released Mega Man: Battle & Fighters on the Nintendo Switch. Even though Mega Man is Capcom's franchise IP, the Nintendo Store entry lists SNK as the publisher. This game is part of the latter's initiative to bring ports of NeoGeo Pocket Color games to the Switch.

This compilation consists of two NeoGeo Pocket Color games — Mega Man: The Power Battle and Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters. While Capcom had included the arcade versions of both games in Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium (now available on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch), the NeoGeo Pocket Color versions feature 8-bit pixel graphics. The compilation still includes bosses from the first to seventh Mega Man games. Bass and Mega Man 8's Duo also join Mega Man and Proto Man in the playable character roster.

Meanwhile, Capcom is preparing another project to revitalize the Mega Man franchise. In late June 2022, the company revealed Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection. The newest compilation in the Legacy Collection series for the Mega Man franchise will contain all six mainline Battle Network iterations from the Game Boy Advance, including the two different versions for the later titles. Capcom will release it for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC in 2023.

Nintendo Won’t Be Unveiling Any New Hardware This Fiscal Year

Switch Pro

Like Xbox and PlayStation, Nintendo also suffers from supply issues and component shortages. This might explain why a recent Nikkei report – relayed by Bloomberg's game and tech writer, Takashi Mochizuki (see below) – stated that there wouldn't be new hardware releases this fiscal year.

Mochizuki's tweet reads, "There will be no new Nintendo hardware this fiscal year, which ends in March 2023. Not immediately clear whether that part of the article is from Nikkei's own reporting or what Nintendo President, who Nikkei interviewed for the story, said."

Stylish Horror Game Saturnalia Gets a New Gameplay Trailer Teasing Its Roguelite Elements, Monsters, & More

1 year 8 months ago

Today, developers Santa Ragione and Big Trouble pulled back the curtain on their upcoming survival horror title, Saturnalia. The stylish third-person spook-’em-up is heading to PC later in 2022.

Feel free to check out the new video down below in all its stylised glory:

As you can see in the footage above, Saturnalia boasts an incredibly eye-catching visual style: the art comprises of a hand-drawn sketch-like technique replete with a bold, vivid color palette. Further, the playable characters are rendered in 12FPS, while the creepy environments surrounding them are rendered at 60FPS, giving the entire experience a “kaleidoscopic” effect.

The video delves into what kind of gameplay players can expect. From environmental puzzle-solving to roguelite progression to investigative elements to even a monster that hunts you and your team, Saturnalia is full to the brim with intriguing ideas.

From what we can gather, it appears that the fictional town of Gravoi, which is the locale that you explore in the game, will be a major “character.” You see, when you die in Saturnalia, the actual town’s layout changes and evolves to help keep players on their toes and make them feel lost. Pretty neat idea, right?

Everything You Need To Know About Angeal and Genesis Ahead of Crisis Core Final Fantasy 7 Reunion

1 year 8 months ago

It’s safe to say that die-hard fans of Final Fantasy 7 were just a little bit excited when it was revealed in June that the cult classic prequel Crisis Core would be getting a very shiny and polished remaster. Crisis Core was first released back in 2008 on PSP and is widely regarded by fans to be one of – if not the best – entries in the compilation of Final Fantasy 7.

The plot of Crisis Core sets up the events of the original Final Fantasy 7 and follows Zack Fair on his dream to become a hero as he rises through the ranks of the Shinra military to become SOLDIER 1st Class. Along the way, Zack encounters series protagonist Cloud Strife with whom he forms a brotherly bond and takes under his wing.

Crisis Core tells Zack’s heroic and ultimately tragic story while also serving as an origin of sorts for Cloud and his arch-nemesis, Sephiroth. Throughout the game, Zack encounters familiar faces and fan-favourite characters like Tseng and Aerith, but Crisis Core adds two new characters that would become crucial to the lore of the series.

As seen in the trailer, Crisis Core throws two new SOLDIERs into the mix, but who are they and just why are they so important to the world of Final Fantasy 7?

Life Is Strange Developers 'Can't Imagine' Going Back to an Episodic Release Model

1 year 8 months ago

Life is Strange: True Colors was the first game in the series to be released as a full package – sidestepping the episodic release that the franchise was built on. Now, the developers can’t imagine going back.

During an interview with Rock Paper Shotgun, senior narrative designer Philip Lawrence explained why the team wanted to try something new with the Life is Strange sequel, which was still separated into distinct chapters, but released as a single package.

“I can't imagine we'd go back to the episodic model,” said Lawrence. “The reaction has been very positive. I think we were careful to keep that episodic structure, because that does seem to appeal to players. That's all part of the DNA of Life is Strange. As you can imagine, it was a decision that was talked about and agonised over quite a bit, but I think on reflection it was the right decision.”

Life is Strange: True Colors was released in 2021, telling the story of Alex Chen – a girl who develops a supernatural ability for empathy. It was the first full Life Is Strange game from developer Deck Nine, who took on development duties from series creator Dontnod (after creating spin-off Life Is Strange: Before the Storm).

Although the game stepped away from episodic releases, it nevertheless retains the nature of TV storytelling, unveiling the plot in a structured way:

Hogwarts Legacy: Character Customization and New Cutscene Footage Revealed

1 year 8 months ago

New footage from the Hogwarts Legacy, the prequel game set in the wizarding world of Harry Potter has been unveiled.

Revealed during a tech talk at the Autodesk Vision Series, the footage shows off a new section of cutscene work, as well as a glimpse at the game’s character customization. The new cutscene footage sees two Hogwarts students secretly watching while a trio of dark wizards attack and restrain a hippogriff:

The scene ends with the students splitting up, presumably to tackle the dark wizards while they’re occupied, with the player character tasked with reaching higher ground. An aerial attack, perhaps? It’s an extended version of a scene we saw during the recent State of Play back in March, which sees the player-character and friend, Natsai running through a huge gate.

Two Point Campus review - university was never this fun

1 year 8 months ago

Long ago, I was a muso. At school I was the kid who never had a lunchtime or afterschool spare between choirs, orchestras, and jazz bands. At university I spent as much time with the musical theatre society as I did studying for my actual music degree. And with Two Point Campus, this gives me one ultimate objective: to create the ultimate fantasy music school.

Before that though, the basics. To those who've played spiritual predecessor Two Point Hospital, Two Point Campus will be very familiar. The two games are near-identical in their approach: take something typically mundane and make a game of it, adding a healthy dose of oddball British humour. The controls are reassuringly familiar, the art style bright, detailed and easily readable, and university life is accompanied by an appropriately 80s soundtrack for all the gossipy, John Hughes drama.

The game's campaign is essentially an extended tutorial, each new level providing fresh challenges to explain core mechanics and systems, and serving as preparation for the endless customisable sandbox mode. Each campus begins as a blank slate of buildings ready to be filled with lecture halls, classrooms, dormitories, bathrooms, private tuition rooms, libraries, and more. Staff need to be hired to teach, clean up, and keep students happy. Students have their own needs which pop up in the form of mission requests: I need a party! I need a bookcase to study! I need a love bench! (More on that later).

Preview: Soul Hackers 2 Balances Challenge and Story

1 year 8 months ago

soul hackers 2 preview header

From my time with its early hours, Soul Hackers 2 feels like the logical accumulation of the many lessons that Atlus learned with its recent SMT-related games. The majority of the game still consists of dungeon crawling. However, having three human party members with their own goals and distinct personalities hooks players hoping for a substantial story. Meanwhile, the difficulty and general structure of the game’s progression can endear it to fans of classic SMT games.

The gist of the story is that Ringo and Figue are artificial humans that AION created. AION is essentially a super-computer that has predicted the end of the world. To stop it, it creates Ringo and Figue and sends them to the human world. Once there, Ringo uses Soul Hack to revive Arrow, Milady, and Saizo. All three of them are Devil Summoners that Ringo believes are instrumental in stopping the apocalypse.

[gallery link="file" ids="933131,933132,933133"]

In combat and gameplay, the three humans also help to keep players engaged. I am not a fan of aimless dungeon crawling. However, as the Soul Matrix unlocked more information on the pasts of my enigmatic allies, it became less a chore and more an extension of the main story, a new way to get to know my people. All four members often talk to each other in battle. The exchanges range in tone, from encouraging and rebuking tones. While it can get old hearing the same lines over and over, it was still an engaging form of background noise. Milady and Arrow’s occasional cat-and-dog spats over enemy weaknesses were also amusing.

Two Point Campus Review – Making The Grade

two point campus review

Reviewed on: PC

Publisher: SEGA Europe
Developer: Two Point Studios

As a kid who grew up with little money, I’ve always loved the fantasy tycoon games realize: the possibility of cashing in on whimsical business schemes like theme parks, restaurants, and aquariums. It’s always been satisfying to start with an empty plot of land and then build the foundation of a business atop it, customizing small details like paint colors, furniture layouts, and walking paths along the way.

But the genre’s bubble gum aesthetics often mask a darker side – one prioritizing profit over people. More recent big-budget entries forego subtlety altogether, cashing in on oppressive industries like prisons, drug manufacturing, and even cartel operations. I’m sure those games are fun in their own right, but I’m not interested in engaging in the fantasy of generating capital from those systems.

This is why Two Point Campus, the follow-up to the popular business management sim Two Point Hospital, feels so refreshing. You aim to invest in massive universities and specialized colleges to attract students worldwide, but you have to put people first if you want to turn a profit.

Valorant Red Bull Homeground 2022 Will Feature North American Teams & Live Audience

1 year 8 months ago

Red Bull’s unique Homeground Valorant tournament is back again for 2022, and this time it won’t just be the EMEA region teams involved. A press release sent to Twinfinite today highlights that North American teams are joining the action for the first time, and there will also be a live crowd in attendance.

The event is taking place in October and forms one of the major non-VCT tournaments being held during a period that Riot Games had earmarked for third-party competitions during its overview of competitive Valorant earlier this year. Red Bull Homeground is being held at the Victoria Warehouse in Manchester, United Kingdom.

Matches take place:

  • Friday 7 October Evening – Swiss Stage
  • Saturday 8 October Daytime – Swiss Stage + Elimination Stage
  • Sunday 9 October Daytime – Elimination Stage

If you’re unfamiliar with the format, Homeground games have a unique structure. Each team picks a favorite map, which is considered their “home ground.” Series are best of three, but they become best of five if an opposing team beats the other on their home ground.

G2 Esports and Team Liquid were the 2020 and 2021 champions of Red Bull Homeground in previous years. 2022 might very well see the first North American team crowned as champion, and in front of a live audience too.

The Last of Us Part 1 Shows Impressive Visual Improvements in New 4K Video Clip

1 year 8 months ago

Today Naughty Dog shared a new video clip of its upcoming The Last of Us remake The Last of Us Part 1.

The video is brief, but it’s plenty to show a scene with a completely different atmosphere. Unfortunately, Twitter’s compression doesn’t particularly help, but the improved lighting is really impressive and changes the mood of the scene radically.

Textures and models also appear to be very much improved, bringing the old game close to on par with The Last of Us Part II.

If you were doubting the idea that this was more than a remaster, I’d say now you can rest easy, considering what the video showcases.

You can check it out and judge for yourself below.

Update 8/11/2022: Naughty Dog published the video on YouTube in 4K, so we updated the article, since now you can see the improvement much, much better.

The Last of Us Part 1 will release for PS5 on September 2, with a PC version following soon after.

If you’re unfamiliar with the game, it’s a remake “built for the ground up” for PS5 according to the developers, bringing the beloved 2013 classic to today’s standards.

Today, it was revealed that the adventures of Kafka Hibino are coming to life, as Kaiju No. 8 is going to be getting its very own anime adaptation. The news came by way of a trailer earlier today, which you can see for yourself down below.

“Kafka wants to clean up kaiju, but not literally! Will a sudden metamorphosis stand in the way of his dream?

For anyone that’s never heard of Kaiju No. 8, it’s a story about a young boy’s battle to try and eliminate the giants that are terrorizing his world. But in order to accomplish this goal, Kafka Hibino must become a monster himself, literally, as he turns himself into a kaiju to put an end to this threat once and for all.

It’s a fascinating tale of growth, as we see Kafka evolve from a corpse clean-up man who’s always wanted to join the Japanese Defense Force to someone capable of making a few kaiju corpses of his own. While info is still a bit brief on the adaptation of Naoya Matsumoto’s hit manga series, we do know that Toho Studios will be in charge of producing it.

1 year 8 months ago

Respawn has now given Apex Legends players the full rundown on what abilities they can expect from upcoming season 14 character Vantage. If you’re already big on sniping, prepare to truly up your game.

Her abilities are (as given by a press release because the official site isn’t as detailed):

  • Spotter’s Lens (Passive): Using her Spotter’s Lens to read tactical information on enemy squads at a distance, Vantage always has the upper hand with critical intel like Legend name, Shield rarity, team size and range.
  • Echo Relocation (Tactical): Vantage’s companion Echo is at the ready to help her reposition herself in a fight. Using her modified jetpack and targeting system, Vantage can launch herself towards Echo’s position and take the high ground.
  • Sniper’s Mark (Ultimate): There’s nowhere to hide from Vantage’s custom sniper rifle, which reveals enemies with its scope and with its ammunition: a successful hit highlights opposing squads for 10 seconds accompanied by a diamond marker, and damage scales up with each hit.

There is also a shiny new characters trailer that lets you see these abilities in action.

Bethesda Reveals Full Quakecon Schedule With Redfall Panel, but Starfield Isn’t Listed

1 year 8 months ago

Today Bethesda revealed the full schedule of its upcoming Quakecon event that will be aired between August 18 and August 20.

As announced a while ago, the event will still be fully online with no in-presence portion, but it still promises plenty of fun to be had.

There will be content about released games like Ghostwire Tokyo, The Elder Scrolls Online, and Fallout 76, and upcoming games, like Arkane’s Redfall.

That being said, it appears that there isn’t any scheduled content dedicated to Starfield in the calendar.

There’s still a possibility that something may be said or shown during the welcome segment, which will be hosted by id Software’s Marty Stratton.

Below you can check out the schedule of the first day, with a full one available online.

Interestingly, Bethesda is going to provide a lot of localized streams from its regional offices, and you can also expect the Quake Pro League tournament to bring together the best competitors within the scene of the venerable first-person shooter.

A variety of activities like quizzes, PC building panels, and a cosplay competition complete the scenario.

Of course, you can expect coverage of all relevant news here on Twinfinite. It’ll be interesting to see if Starfield will indeed be completely missing or there will be surprise along the way.

MultiVersus Season 1 & Morty Release Delayed, Preseason Extended

1 year 8 months ago

The official MultiVersus Twitter account announced today that the upcoming season one release has now been delayed. Seeing as Morty Smith was also supposed to be releasing with the new season, his introduction to the game will also be delayed.

There has not been a new date announced for the start of season one at time of writing.

The actual Tweets read:

We want to let everyone know that we are delaying the start of Season 1 & the release of Morty to a later date. We know this might be disappointing for some and want to assure our Community that we are dedicated to delivering new and exciting content that delights players. We’ll let you know the timing as soon as we can. We appreciate your patience & enthusiasm and look forward to unveiling Season 1 very soon!

Just yesterday, players were finally given a look at the MultiVersus season one battle pass. The current pre-season battle pass was supposed to end on the Aug. 8, but it seems that might be extended. Seeing as MultiVersus has been trucking along as far as player count goes, a slight delay will likely not hit the game too hard.

We’ve given our own ideas as to what iconic characters could be joining the MultiVersus roster in the future, such as Jon Snow and Jesse Pinkman.
