What's better: nude mods, or going into guts and meat?

1 year 9 months ago

Last time, you decided that cameras which actually take pictures are better than running into a wall so fast you hurt yourself. Immersive sims shudder in revulsion from this outcome (but sadly don't take damage from their vibration). Cameras won by only eight votes, so you'd better join in if you feel strongly about this week's face-off. And this one might involve taking a face... off. What's better: nude mods, or going into guts and meat?

Kenshi And Sub-Zero Unite In Mortal Kombat Legends: Snow Blind Trailer

1 year 9 months ago

Snow Blind, the next installment in the Mortal Kombat Legends animated film series, got its first trailer today ahead of its October release. The new movie tells the origin story of Kenshi, who tags up with Sub-Zero to kombat Outworld's usual suspects and keep the peace (or as peaceful as this universe can get).

The film explores how Kenshi loses his eyesight and trains to become the master swordfighter that fans have loved since his debut in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance. Kenshi’s goal: take down a fully cybernetic Kano and his Black Dragon clan. Kenshi has another ace up his sleeve in the form of a powerful ally (?) in Sub-Zero. Some of the characters that appear include Shang Tsung and Kabal and even lesser seen faces like Tremor and Kira.

Snow Blind is the third Mortal Kombat Legends film following 2021’s Battle of the Realms and 2020’s Scorpion’s Revenge. It will be available on digital storefronts on October 9 and on Blu-ray October 11. Personally, I'm excited to see where it winds up landing on my ranking of every Mortal Kombat on-screen adaptation

SplatNet 3 will appear inside the Nintendo Switch Online mobile app. Users with an active paid subscription will be able to access the Splatoon 3 hub, where they can check their battle records or purchase special gear. The site also has a special area that features specific content, such as a room containing commentary from the card illustrators and another one dedicated to the winners of the 2022 illustration contest.

Anyone can visit the online exhibition website, but those who want to get actual viewing access to the illustrations must register new accounts on the site. The organizer only allows users to publish the site's content on social media by using its official sharing feature. It strictly prohibits any other publication methods, such as manual screenshots.

1 year 9 months ago

The release of Atlus’s newest game Soul Hackers 2 is just around the corner, and today they announced a slew of DLC that will be available upon the game’s launch, including a full bonus story, in a new trailer.

Atlus games are known for their costume packs that pull inspiration from their previous games, and Soul Hackers 2 is no different. Players can deck their party members out in outfits from Persona 4, Persona 5, Shin Megami Tensei IV, or, in true Atlus fashion, fashionable swimsuits.

There will also be battle music from the aforementioned games included as well

In an even more exciting turn, the day one DLC will feature a bonus story arc called The Lost Numbers. This arc includes Nana, a freelance Devil Summoner in search of her dad. Nana's arc will come complete with a full side story, a new dungeon, and a boss.

If you want to supplement your gameplay, there will also be access to eight demons to include in battle plus a whole host of booster items. These include items that grant experience points and items that increase the frequency of items dropped after a battle ends.

Elden Ring on Xbox Game Pass Was a Bug, Microsoft Says

1 year 9 months ago

Nope, Elden Ring definitely isn’t on Xbox Game Pass.

Microsoft has confirmed that, while some users saw Elden Ring appear on Xbox Cloud Gaming as part of Xbox Game Pass, it was just a bug that has now been fixed.

“If you’ve seen Elden Ring and other games appear as if they might be playable on Xbox Cloud Gaming or Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft says this is a bug and it has rolled out a fix,” said The Verge editor Tom Warren via Twitter.

Several games including Elden Ring, GTA V, and Soul Hackers 2 appeared on store pages and an ad promoting Xbox Cloud Gaming earlier today. But while many speculated that this meant an Xbox Game Pass debut for the titles, it looks as though it was all an unintended mistake.

“We're aware of a bug that incorrectly displayed some titles as available with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate,” a Microsoft spokesperson told Eurogamer. “We rolled out a fix and this is now updated.”

The Best '90s Board Games

1 year 9 months ago

While many will remember the 90s as the decade of Furbies, Friends, and furiously loud grunge music, it was also an extraordinary decade for great board games. Two things happened that changed the face of gaming forever: the advent of collectable card games and the import of wholly fresh design ideas from Germany. We’ve covered those two things in the first two items of this list of iconic games from the 1990s, but keep reading and you’ll find there were a whole lot more revolutionary ideas in the offing.

Magic: the Gathering

Where else to start than with the game that started the collectable card craze and revolutionized games and game stores in the nineties? There was a time when almost every role-playing and board gaming club switched to playing Magic: the Gathering. And it’s easy to see why with the lure of finding powerful rare cards in hidden packs, planning a deck to construct around them and thrilling to the mix of random draw and strategic combinations during play. It’s a recipe that’s still almost as intoxicating today and the game remains in good health. With high prize money tournaments, online play, and regular expansions to collect there’s never been a better time to get involved.

The 10 Best Fighting Games

1 year 9 months ago

Fighting games have a special place in both the past and present of gaming. It’s a genre that requires quick thinking, twitch reflexes, and vast amounts of knowledge of both yourself and your opponent’s options to play at a high level. It can often seem intimidating. But some of the most recognizable series in pop culture, such as Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, belong to that same genre.

So for our deliberations in assembling this list, we’ve laid out some special criteria: we’ve excluded platform fighters such as the Smash Bros series as that’s important enough to be a list on its own; we only have one game representing each series, and while legacy can play a big part, they must offer robust mechanics and still be fun to play today. Here’s our list of the top 10 fighting games.

10. Mortal Kombat (2011)

Mortal Kombat 9 marked a turning point in the history of MK. It was a reboot – not just of its story, but of everything that defined Mortal Kombat over the years. Puzzle Kombat, Motor Kombat, and weird Create-a-Fatalities were all gone in lieu of a back-to-basics approach that focused on the actual kombat above all else. It turned out to be the best possible decision for the series, because Mortal Kombat 9 brought the legendary fighting series back from the brink, thanks to its excellent story mode, copious amounts of fanservice, and redone mechanics that laid the foundation for subsequent games to follow.

Microsoft claims Sony pays developers "blocking rights" to keep games off Xbox Game Pass

1 year 9 months ago

In a lengthy document submitted to the Brazilian government as part of its investigation into Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard, Microsoft has claimed Sony pays developers "blocking rights" to prevent games from appearing on Xbox Game Pass.

The accusation appears in a 27-page rebuttal of Sony's recent objections to Microsoft's Activision Blizzard buyout, made to Brazil's Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) as part of its investigation. Much of Sony's argument had focused on Call of Duty - which it claimed had "no rival" and was "so popular that it influences users' choice of console" - with the PlayStation maker suggesting, among other things, that the inclusion of Call of Duty on Microsoft's Game Pass service would hamper its ability to compete.

Microsoft's response is as wide-ranging as Sony's initial objections, touching on everything from the fact it has previously managed to grow Game Pass without Activision Blizzard's titles - suggesting Call of Duty mightn't be quite as "essential" as Sony claims - to a reiteration of its assurances that it won't be making Call of Duty an Xbox console exclusive.

Splatoon 2 Players Will Receive Bonuses in Splatoon 3

1 year 9 months ago

Splatoon 2 save data will unlock Splatoon 3 bonuses

People who have played Splatoon 2 will receive many bonuses in Splatoon 3 when they carry over their save data to the new game. Nintendo made the announcement with a new post on the game's official website shortly after holding the Splatoon 3 Direct presentation stream.

When a player boots Splatoon 3 with an account that has Splatoon 2 save data, they will be given instant access to Anarchy Battles and, depending on their rank in the older game, start the newer game with a higher rank. The game will match them with other former Splatoon 2 players with a similar skill level. It will also reward them with three Gold Sheldon Licenses, which they can use to obtain any available main weapons.

Additionally, Nintendo also revealed some details about Splatoon 3's save data. The game will save the Story Mode progression data internally in the console, although players can also upload it to the Nintendo Switch Online's cloud backup. Data related to online matches, such as player ranks and gear collections, will be linked to the player's account and placed on an online server. If the player has multiple Switch units with the same account registered, they will be able to play Splatoon 3 on any of them with the same save data.

Splatoon 2 is available worldwide on Nintendo Switch. Splatoon 3 will come to the same platform on September 9, 2022.

7 Cult of the Lamb Tips & Tricks for Beginners

1 year 9 months ago

Cult of the Lamb is like the demonic love child of Hades and Stardew Valley, to put things crudely. It can also be a rather tricky game to get into, so here are a few beginner tips to help you get started.

Destroy Everything on Crusades

In the early goings of Cult of the Lamb, resources will be a little scarce, especially if you’ve got a handful of mouths to feed and a lot of stuff to still build at your Cult. As such, you’ll want to take full advantage of what the Darkwood has to offer by smashing everything you see.

In doing so, you’ll get a lot of helpful resources, like bones, grass, and meat. These items can be used to cook food to prevent your followers from dying of starvation or to practice Rituals like Funerals and Marriage later in the game.

New Apex Legends Bugs Found Only One Day Into New Season

1 year 9 months ago

No one has ever accused Apex Legends of being the most polished game around. Even still, seeing as we’re only a day into the new season and two new bugs have already crept up, it’s not the best look. They are two vastly different bugs with the potential to entirely ruin your day, though, so that’s fun.

First up we have something not entirely character specific. There’s a bug when it comes to, according to Respawn, choosing a character other than your featured character when starting a game. What this bug does is create a combo character. You read that right. In a video uploaded to Reddit by user JomzYT, a Newcastle is seen visually, but underneath it’s all Gibraltar.

According to Respawn’s Apex Legends Trello board, this bug is being investigated and they describe it as:

When selecting a different Legend on the “LEGEND SELECTION SCREEN” from the featured Legend, it can causes issues with Legend abilities in a match.

Fairy Fencer F: Refrain Chord Introduces Glace the Diva in New Trailer

1 year 9 months ago

Today Compile Hear revealed a brand new trailer of its upcoming JRPG Fairy Fencer F: Refrain Chord.

This time around, we get the introduction of one of the two divas included in the game, Glace.

Divas are at the center of some of the most relevant new mechanics, so Glace (and the other diva Fleur) certainly plays an important role in the game.

She’s voiced by Yoko Hikasa, whom you may remember as Kyoko Kirigiri in Danganronpa.

You can watch her in action below.

Fairy Fencer F: Refrain Chord will release in Japan for PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch on September 15, 2022.

One of the most interesting key concepts of the game is the presence on tactical RPG battlefield of “divas” that perform songs that buff friends and debuff enemies in a certain area.

Where opposing songs overlap, they create a “Dramatic Resonance” area, a positional element in which both the buffs created by the friendly diva and the debuffs created by the enemy diva are doubled in effect. Basically, you can step into that area for some high-risk, high-reward plays and you can check out more of how it sounds in previous videos.

Forspoken Trailer Getting Memed: Elaborate Parody Versions for Bloodborne and More

1 year 9 months ago

The internet can't get enough of the latest promo video for Forspoken, the upcoming action RPG from Square Enix and Luminous Productions. However, it's not the most positive reception, as people are poking fun at the new trailer by making parodies of it.

It all started when the official Forspoken Twitter account posted a new ad for the game. The promo shows snippets of gameplay, featuring a voiceover from the protagonist, Frey. Many people on the internet are finding the dialogue incredibly campy, with the most-liked reply to Forspoken's original post saying, "This game looks beautiful and the gameplay looks crazy but boy do I bet that the story/dialogue will get on my nerves."

Here's what the ad has the main character saying:

"So let me get this straight. I'm somewhere that's not what I would call Earth… I'm seeing freaking dragons… And… Oh yeah, I'm talking to a cuff. Yeah okay, that is something I do now. I do magic, kill jacked-up beasts, I'll probably fly next."

The cheapest ultra-wide on Amazon is this 25-in 2560x1080 model for £110

1 year 9 months ago

How much gaming monitor can you get for £100? Not much, it turns out - but I did spot something unexpected for £10 more: a genuine ultra-wide monitor. Now, it's not a stunner as far as looks go, and it's not got the latest specs either. But what it has got is an expansive 25-inch span, a 2560x1080 resolution and a blistering refresh rate of... 75Hz. OK, so it's far from the best gaming monitor on the planet, but getting an IPS monitor of this size is honestly not bad going - especially as it's been reduced from a UK RRP of £170.

The DioField Chronicle does have a PC demo after all, and you can play it right now

The move coincides with pre-orders also going live, but the good news is that your save data, progress and character levels from the demo will all transfer over to the final game should you decide to take the plunge in full when the game comes out on September 22nd. MultiVersus Review - Packing A Punch

1 year 9 months ago

MultiVersus

Reviewed on: PlayStation 5
Platform: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC
Publisher: Warner Bros. Games
Developer: Player First Games
Release:
Rating: Teen

Warner Bros. has given new studio Player First Games some of its most popular characters to carve out space in the Smash Bros.-dominated IP-crossover-fighter genre. MultiVersus succeeds where others have failed, but it still has some growing to do.

Though LeBron James appears on the roster thanks to his starring role in Space Jam: A New Legacy, the WB roster in MultiVersus doesn’t feel as icky as the roster of that film. Each character is treated with reverence, creating a world where you eventually don’t bat an eye at the fact that Arya Stark from Game of Thrones is stabbing Bugs Bunny.

The tight, Smash-like controls deftly convey the powerful and heavy Iron Giant just as well as the swift and silly Finn from Adventure Time. Just when I thought I had found my main, I started up another character and was always surprised by how unique and interesting they were to learn.

How to Change Username in Tower of Fantasy

1 year 9 months ago

Tower of Fantasy gives you the ability to change your username, which is always a nice option to have. Especially when you eventually realize you’ve outgrown your original username and you don’t want to throw away your entire account just because you stand it anymore. Anyway, let’s get into it.

Tower of Fantasy is a free-to-play gacha game from Hotta Studio, and it features a large shared open-world with multiplayer dungeons and raids to get into. There’s a lot of content to look forward to here, but your first step starts with picking the right username for yourself.

At the very start of the game, you’ll be prompted to select your player character model as well as your username in Tower of Fantasy. The good news is that if you end up regretting your username choice, you can still change it later on.

All you have to do is tap on the Shop icon in the top right corner of the screen, or hold Alt and left-click on it if you’re on PC. From here, select the HOT tab, then purchase the Identity Update Card.

Tower of Fantasy Gacha Summon System & Currencies Explained

1 year 9 months ago

If you’re new to gacha games in general and you’re planning on checking out Tower of Fantasy, some of its summoning systems might feel a tad overwhelming. That’s where we come in. Here’s a complete breakdown of Tower of Fantasy’s gacha summoning system and its various currencies.

Tower of Fantasy Gacha Summon System Explained

Like any other gacha game on the market, Tower of Fantasy features banners that you can pull on to obtain items and weapons. The most coveted weapons are, of course, the SSR rarity ones, as they’re usually the very best weapons you can use in the game.

However, the SSR rates are much lower than their SR and R counterparts, which means that you’ll need to spend a considerable amount of currency to keep pulling on these banners until you get the weapons you want. Before we get into the nitty gritty, here are the three different banners you’ll encounter in the game:

  • Weapons Galore
  • Prosperity of Ida
  • Limited banners

The first banner, called the Weapons Galore, is the regular banner in Tower of Fantasy that you’ll likely spend most of your currency on. The SSR rate on Weapons Galore is 0.75%, which sounds extremely low, but the good news is that there’s a built-in pity system that guarantees that you’ll get an SSR weapon at 80 pulls.

The second banner is called Prosperity of Ida, and this banner mostly rewards you with items and resources, as well as the odd weapon here and there. There’s no pity system on this banner, but you do still have a reduced chance of getting an SSR drop.

How to Fix Tower of Fantasy Data Verification Failed Error 7813201

1 year 9 months ago

So it’s the global launch of Tower of Fantasy and you’re excited to download the game and start playing. Except, you’re immediately hit with the Data Verification Failed Error 7813201. It’s annoying, but we’re here to explain exactly what this error is and what you can do to get around it.

Tower of Fantasy Data Verification Failed Error 7813201 Explained

The Tower of Fantasy Data Verification Failed Error will usually pop up while you’re in the middle of downloading the game. You might notice that the game would be downloading normally, but then suddenly gets stuck in the middle, and this error pops up.

This means that the game ran into an issue while trying to download the relevant files, and at the time of writing, there’s no way to actually “fix” or get around this problem without just waiting it out. As the game has just launched globally, it’s likely that many users are encountering this error because the servers are struggling to keep up with all the downloads, and you might have to wait for them to ease up a little before trying again.

How to Fix the Data Verification Failed Error

While there isn’t a reliable fix for this issue, you could try a couple of things. Namely, resetting your internet connection may help, or you can also reinstall the game and try your luck again.

There are no guarantees here, however, and your best bet is to just wait a while before resuming the download process.

Harem Camp Manga Is Getting a Plot and Culture-Filled Anime Adaptation

1 year 9 months ago

Culture-minded anime fans rejoice: The Harem Camp manga is getting an anime adaptation, and it’s set to stream sooner rather than later.

On Aug. 10, an official website went live revealing the anime is in development and set to release via the Japanese streaming site AnimeFesta and via Japanese television on Oct. 2. A censored version of the series will be shown on broadcast television via Tokyo MX and BS11, while both the censored version and an uncensored version will be available for streaming on AnimeFesta. It is unknown if or when the series will be made available in North America.

The website also came with a reveal of its cast, which has been translated and made available via the Japanese news site Ota-Suke. The full list can be found down below.

  • Miu Yuzuhara as Haruki Toma
  • Aoi Hyuga as Ai Minami
  • Mashiro Fuuka as Touko Saionji
  • Ren Sagami as Natsuki Kitamura
  • Masahito plays the role of Kensuke Yamamichi.

The Harem Camp anime is based off of the manga of the same name. In it, a teacher and veteran camper named Kensuke forms a camping group made up of himself and four girls. What follows is an entirely wholesome adventure full of engaging storytelling that is not at all filled with explicit interactions or the usual perverted antics found in most any other Harem anime.

In all seriousness though, this is sure to be one of the more adult anime of the Fall season. Viewers should bear this in mind if they’re intent on checking the show out, and seek out the censored or uncensored versions as necessary to their tastes.

Tower of Fantasy is a shared open-world RPG with a big focus on multiplayer elements. Players will be able to take on dungeons together while engaging in fast-paced action combat that’s centered around switching between three different weapons.

Tower of Fantasy is now available on PC and mobile devices.

Nacho Varga is one of the key players in Better Call Saul, and his role is significant in shaping the cartel landscape into what it is when we reach the Breaking Bad timeline. And if you’re wondering if Nacho Varga was ever featured in Breaking Bad, here’s what you need to know.

Was Nacho Varga in Breaking Bad?

Nacho Varga, played by Michael Mando, did not appear in Breaking Bad. However, he is mentioned by name very briefly in season 2, episode 8, titled “Better Call Saul”.

In this episode, Walt and Jesse kidnap Saul and bring him out into the desert, where they try to threaten him and force him into helping Badger avoid going to prison. Saul panics as he doesn’t know what’s happening, and when he finally gets a chance to speak, he exclaims: “It wasn’t me, it was Ignacio!” And he also asks if Lalo sent them.

This throwaway line in Breaking Bad becomes the bedrock for a series of important events that occur in Better Call Saul, where Jimmy becomes acquainted with Ignacio “Nacho” Varga, as well as Eduardo Salamanca, AKA Lalo. So yes, while Nacho is referenced in this one random line in Breaking Bad, he doesn’t actually make a physical appearance in this series.

That’s all you need to know about Nacho Varga’s role in Breaking Bad. Be sure to search for Twinfinite for more Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul coverage, including a macabre rundown of everyone who dies in BCS, and whether Walt and Jesse show up in the prequel series.

Are the Guardians of the Galaxy in I Am Groot? Answered

1 year 9 months ago

I Am Groot has just dropped in Disney+, and for folks wondering if the iconic Guardians of the Galaxy are featured in the series of shorts, here’s what you need to know.

Are the Guardians of the Galaxy in I Am Groot?

No, aside from Groot himself, the Guardians of the Galaxy are not featured in I Am Groot. However, in the episode Magnum Opus, we do get a Rocket cameo, as well as a very brief glimpse of Drax in the shower.

In this episode, we get to see Rocket make a quick appearance at the end, and he even gets a few lines of dialogue voiced by Bradley Cooper himself. Aside from that, however, the mini-series is entirely focused on Groot himself and his adventures in space.

While most of the series does take place on the Quadrant, there are surprisingly few references to the Guardians, as this series is meant to just be cute one-shots focusing on Groot doing Groot things. We’ll probably have to wait till the next official Guardians movie to catch up with the rest of them.

I Am Groot is still well worth watching, though, as each episode is only about three minutes long. And considering that there are only five episodes in total, you’ll be able to knock them all out in less than 30 minutes.

That’s all you need to know about the Guardians of the Galaxy appearing in I Am Groot. Be sure to check out the rest of our MCU-related coverage, including our take on which actors should play Wolverine in the MCU, and a quick explainer on how Jennifer Walters becomes She-Hulk.
