Megalovania Appears in Gitadora With a New Rock Arrangement

1 year 9 months ago

Undertale Megalovania Sans in Gitadora High-Voltage

The popular Undertale track "Megalovania" has appeared in Konami's Gitadora High-Voltage. It has received a new arrangement that befits the rock music-oriented arcade game. Players can also obtain in-game content featuring Sans by playing the game within two months of the crossover's launch.

Yvya, one of the Bemani Sound Team members, made the rock arrangement for "Megalovania." The new arrangement makes the high-paced track playable on the arcade game that features guitar- and drum-inspired controllers to emulate a rock music session.

The crossover also adds in-game content featuring Undertale's Sans that players can unlock by increasing their level. Level 15 will unlock new Shutters with an illustration of the character. At level 30, Sans himself will appear on the screen and interact with the player. These Undertale features are available to unlock until October 10, 2022.

Total War: Warhammer 3 Champions of Chaos DLC Gameplay Lets You Witness Valkia’s Bloodlust

1 year 9 months ago

Following the reveal of the legendary lord Valkia the Bloody for Total War: Warhammer 3’s DLC Champions of Chaos, today Creative Assembly has released a video portraying her gameplay.

The video is fairly extensive, and while a bit of time is wasted on dad jokes and cinematics that we’ve already seen, it provides a look at how Valkia plays… which appears to be “very, very aggressively.”

She’s a demon princess of Khorne after all, so it would be weird if she wasn’t at least a little violent.

You can check out the video below.

Total War: Warhammer 3 is currently available exclusively for PC.

August Additions to PlayStation Plus Extra & Premium Catalogue Announced

1 year 9 months ago

While the addition of the Yakuza games is no big secret, there are a few other surprises among the games hitting PlayStation Plus for the Extra & Premium tiers that have been announced today.

These will all go live Aug. 16, so you have a few days to clear your schedules as the Yakuza games are by no means quick adventures.

Your August 2022 PlayStation Plus & Extra catalogue additions are:

Yakuza 0

The glitz, glamour, and unbridled decadence of the 80s are back in Yakuza 0. Fight like hell through Tokyo and Osaka with protagonist Kazuma Kiryu and series regular Goro Majima. Play as the former to discover how he finds himself in a world of trouble when a simple debt collection goes wrong. Then, step into the silver-toed shoes of Goro Majima and explore his “normal” life as the proprietor of a cabaret club.

Yakuza Kiwami

The first Yakuza title debuted in 2005 on PS2. This PS4 remake rebuilds that experience from scratch. Follow the early days of Kazuma Kiryu as he returns to the streets of Japan after serving a decade-long prison sentence for a crime he didn’t commit to save his best friend.

Is Tower of Fantasy Region Locked? Answered

1 year 9 months ago

The latest F2P MMORPG has many excited for its compelling multiplayer gameplay, but is Tower of Fantasy region locked? Here’s what you need to know about the game’s servers and which is best to choose.

Is Tower of Fantasy Region Locked? Answered

No, Tower of Fantasy is not region locked. You are able to play on any server from any region you like. Of course, choosing a server from a region that is not where you’re located isn’t necessarily a good plan. Because the server’s geographical distance is far away from you’re own, you will experience a high amount of latency that is definitely going to impact your experience.

That being said, MMORPGs aren’t as difficult to play with high latency as something like an FPS game, given the control inputs don’t typically need to be as precise. You can, therefore, get away with playing on a distant server if you’re doing so to play with friends from other regions.

For those who are playing mostly solo, however, and want the best experience possible, we recommend sticking with a server that is at least somewhat local.

If you’re wondering what the Tower of Fantasy unlock times are for each region, here’s a handy list:

Wolverine Bares His Claws in New Marvel’s Midnight Suns Trailer

1 year 9 months ago

2K Games and Firaxis Games revealed another trailer about the turn-based tactical game Marvel’s Midnight Suns, dedicated to one of its playable superheroes.

This time around we get the introduction of Logan, A.K.A. classic clawed mutant Wolverine.

While the video is short, we can still glimpse Wolverine’s nature in the game. It’s obvious (and likely expected) that he’s going to deal a lot of damage.

Given the pattern of previous videos, we can expect a much more extensive video explaining Wolverine’s card deck and battlefield role in detail on top of another on the history behind the hero himself across the next few days.

In the meanwhile, you can check this one out below.

This follows the trailer that showcased the gameplay of Steve Rogers A.K.A. Captain America, and another that delved into his history.

Madden 23 Gameplay First Shows How FieldSENSE Feels More User-Friendly

1 year 9 months ago

Today, EA Sports showed off an exclusive first look at Madden 23 via their Madden Championship Series, which featured notable competitors TDBarrett and Cleff facing off in one-on-one action, featuring additional commentary from one of the game designers, K.Spade. In the video, we see the players experience all the changes that the FieldSENSE gameplay system is set to implement.

Some of those changes we get to see in the matchup include free-form passing, new X-Factor abilities, and considerable playbook adjustments, just to name a few. Check it out for yourself in the video below.

When asked what the biggest changes were after playing for about 15 minutes, TDBarrett and Cleff both noted they loved the free-form passing, as it forced them to use pocket passing much more than scrabbling. More than anything, they noted how the game feels completely user-controlled and how there’s just much more control when it comes to stuff like passing than in past iterations of the franchise.

I Recreated My Dad’s Real-Life Company in Construction Simulator 2022

1 year 9 months ago

Before I wrote about video games from the comfort of a computer screen, I worked for my father at his real-life construction company, so playing the upcoming Construction Simulator 2022 was something of a surreal experience. Just when I thought I’d left the yellow hard hat and demanding physical labor in the tractor’s rearview, it all came flooding back to me in this beautifully detailed and incredibly fun simulation game that had me giddy with nostalgia before I was done with the tutorial. It’s not too often that one gets the opportunity to walk the path not taken, but strapping that toolbelt back on as I drove painstakingly detailed roller machines and excavators, completed repair jobs, and pushed around dirt felt like peering through a window into what could have been, and that’s just about the highest compliment I could give a game that prides itself on a realistic depiction of the trade.

Given my personal connection to the construction industry, I decided to put Construction Simulator 2022 through its paces by seeing how accurately I could recreate my father’s actual company. After creating an avatar that looked shockingly close to my actual dad, naming my company after the family business, and choosing one of Construction Simulator’s two open-world locales , I was ready to begin resharpening my skills as a builder. I started out with simple jobs at first, like replacing a broken pipe and compacting some gravel in a parking lot. You might not expect these straightforward chores to be particularly fun, but you’d be mistaken – like many good simulation games, it’s oddly satisfying to see the fruits of your virtual labor.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 - Cancelled Campaign Details Leak, Four Years Later

1 year 9 months ago

Details of the cancelled campaign from Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 – the only game in the franchise without a dedicated single-player mode – have been leaked after four years.

As reported by Eurogamer, Reddit user Purpletoaster20 posted a detailed explanation of what was going to be a "co-operative live service" campaign that connected to Black Ops 4's multiplayer modes and specialists. The report arrived following months of research and discussions with those familiar with the cancelled campaign, the post said, and also included more than 400 images of concept art, storyboards, early mission planning, and more, lending credence to the leak.

The campaign was reportedly set in 2070 during "the year of chaos" and followed on from the events of Black Ops III. A global pandemic and several climate disasters reduced the world order to two main factions - the World United Nations (WUN) and the Free People's Army (FPA) - and the player would choose which to fight for.

Though also playable solo, the game would revolve around a 2 vs. 2 "race to the finish" mechanic with the world-state changing depending on which teams accomplished their goals first, essentially producing a number of different campaign experiences depending on performance and faction.

Cult of the Lamb Review

1 year 9 months ago

When I started Cult of the Lamb, I wasn’t expecting to be shoveling so much poop. This is a true wolf of a base-management game in the sheepish clothing of an action-roguelite, but it balances that unexpected mix of genres with grace. Its adorable art style and surprising amount of side activities fill its relatively linear structure up with personality – and while its combat sections aren’t deep enough to keep me coming back after the credits rolled, this is a dark ritual I’m very glad to have completed.

Cult of the Lamb puts you in the fluffy hooves of a cult leader newly resurrected by an imprisoned deity called The One Who Waits. Now it’s up to you to free your master by recruiting new followers to the flock, building a base for them to live in, and going on bloody crusades against the otherworldly entities that trapped him. That loop of gathering supplies, tending to your worshipers, upgrading both your character and your homestead, and then going out to do it again is extremely satisfying, with a charming art style and expressive animations that bring a bit of joy to every ruthless corner of it.

Everything We Learned About Splatoon 3 From the Nintendo Direct

1 year 9 months ago

The Splatoon 3 Nintendo Direct just concluded, and boy was that show dense. We received almost 30 minutes of detail on what the third entry in the squid-kid shooter would entail, and it came in such a veritable ink torando that it's understandable if you missed some details.

To help you catch up on all the latest news from Splatsville, here's a recap of all the biggest, freshest tidbits from the Splatoon 3 Direct:

Octolings are playable again

Though it seemed fairly obvious based on the footage we've seen so far, Nintendo confirmed that Octolings are indeed playable, and they appear to be available alongside Inklings from the start of the game. Both characters have all the same features and can wear the same fashions - from what we can tell, the main difference is purely a visual one in terms of their hairstyles and a few other small visual differences.

Splatoon 3 Will Get a Splatfest-Only Demo This Month

1 year 9 months ago

With Splatoon 3 just on the horizon, Nintendo has announced that a pre-release version of the game will arrive on August 27. It will let players take part in a brand new format for Splatfest, the series' battle-based public voting events.

As part of a Splatoon-themed Nintendo Direct, the company announced that the Splatfest World Premiere will take place on August 27. In the US, it will take place from 9am-9pm Pacific (so 12pm-12am Eastern). In the UK, it will take place from 9am-9pm BST.

The theme will be Rock, Paper, Scissors, which you might notice is different from Splatfest’s usual X vs. Y themes. That’s because Splatfest will now feature three teams instead of two.

The first half of Splatfest will follow the Turf War format, where players will be divided into teams and must splat the arena to advance. The second half will become something called Tricolor Turf War where the leading team with four members will face two other teams of two.

The leading team will start at the center of a large arena, while the other two teams will start on either side and work together to stop the leader.

As usual, Splatfest will be a hosted event, with this new format MC’d by characters Frye, Shiver, and Big Man, the members of an in-game band called Deep Cut. Frye will be the Paper supporter, Shiver backs Rock, and Big Man supports Scissors.

Splatoon 3 Will Have 'Large-Scale Paid DLC' and at Least Two Years of Free Updates

1 year 9 months ago

If you're liking the look of Splatoon 3 based on today's Splatoon-focused Nintendo Direct: good news. we're about to get a lot of it for a long time. Nintendo has confirmed it will support Splatoon 3 with free updates for at least two years, and will also have "large-scale paid DLC" available at some point in the future.

While we don't know what the paid DLC will consist of, we can confirm at least what some of the free updates will be. From today's Direct, we learned about the new "catalog" feature, which is effectively a seasonal rotation of customization items that will change every three months. The items include new titles, backgrounds, badges, and emotes that players can display to opponents at the start and end of matches.

Additionally, new weapons will be added to the game regularly, at roughly the same time as the catalog updates, and it seems safe to assume new outfits might accompany them at some point as well.

We also know that two game modes, X Battle and League Battle, are planned for Splatoon 3 but will not be available at launch. They're both planned for release in future updates.

And of course, there are the Splatfests. We've already got one Splatfest on the way as a pre-release event on August 27, so it stands to reason there will be plenty more Splatfests to come down the line. Splatfests now include three teams instead of just two, and take place over two halves: the usual Turf War, followed by a Tricolor Turf War where the current leading team must fend off the two challenging teams working together to topple them.

Why Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered PC devs want players to “feel like we're honouring the platform”

1 year 9 months ago

Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered is the latest ex-PlayStation exclusive to rock up on PC, following a collaborative effort between original developers Insomniac Games and porting specialists Nixxes. It’s also a skyscape-swinging, baddie-decking good time, so says Alice Bee’s review, and one that comes with plenty of special features just for the Windows version. I’ll be posting a more performance-and-hardware-focused guide to it later this week, but in the meantime I called up Jurjen Katsman, founder and senior director of development at Nixxes, and Mike Fitzgerald, core technology director at Insomniac, for a chat about how Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered makes the jump to PC.

Spider-Man Remastered runs great on Steam Deck, with very few caveats

1 year 9 months ago

When Sony revealed that Spider-Man Remastered was headed to PC earlier this year, I became fixated with the idea that the game would potentially work on the Steam Deck. I mean, it worked on a base PS4, right? By my understanding the Steam Deck is basically just a PS4 with a screen slapped on it, so surely portable Spider-Manning wasn't an unrealistic thing to expect?

After spending a few days testing out the game on the Deck I'm thrilled to confirm that Spider-Man Remastered plays great on Valve's handheld with only a few very minor caveats. Hooray! I can finally punch a Vulture in my back garden without getting shouted at by local bird protection services. What a time to be alive.

Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered review: a fun hero epic that takes the wall-crawler to new heights

1 year 9 months ago

I've played a lot of Spider-Man games. To this day I nurture the belief that all tutorials should be narrated by Bruce Campbell. I even played Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, which had four different web-dudes and later inspired the Spider-Verse storyline in the comics. Point is, I'm standing on pretty solid ground to judge Spider-Man games. Marvel's Spider-Man, originally released onto Sonyboxes in 2018, is finally coming to PC in a Remastered form, and let me tell you: it is a great Spidey game.

You know Spider-Man. He's a dude named Peter Parker who was bitten by a radioactive spider and can now climb up walls and punch criminals really well. Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered lets you roleplay being Spidey against the backdrop of a big, living New York city. It is, if you'll excuse the pun, amazing. Now, is it the best Spidey game? Nah. I reckon that's its spin-off/sequel Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, but that's not on PC yet. This means Marvel's Spider-Man gets to be the best wall-crawler game on PC for another few months, which isn't a bad consolation prize.

Cult Of The Lamb review: an adorably twisted cult management game

1 year 9 months ago

A bright sun heralds the start of day 37 for CultPaperShotgun. Katharine wakes up and immediately sets to work cleaning up the mountains of poop and vomit puddles left over from the previous night's revelries. As she works, she spies her good friend Alice B harvesting cauliflowers from the cult's garden, trying to keep as far as possible away from the (now slightly rotting) corpse of Graham that lays nearby. A cluster of other followers are busy dancing around a shrine in the centre of the village, but they all stop to witness a fight between the two oldest members of the cult - Alice0 and Liam. Ritual combat of the elderly is a staple of CultPaperShotgun, and as Alice0 delivers the final blow to an ailing Liam, cries of euphoria reverberate about the camp as his spirit (and chunks of flesh) are donated to the cause.

Where am I in all this, you ask? I, the Lamb, the glorious leader of our cult, the holy vessel of Death itself, and the sworn enemy of the Bishops of the Old Faith that are destined soon to die by my blade? I'm kicking back at a nearby camp, enjoying a spot of fishing and a friendly game of Knucklebones.

This, friends, is Cult Of The Lamb. And it is excellent.

Norwood Suite dev's surreal dice-chucker Betrayal At Club Low out in September

1 year 9 months ago

Betrayal At Club Low - the latest jazz-infused odyssey from The Norwood Suite developer Cosmo D - finally has a release date, and will be swinging open its murderous doors for some woozily surreal adventure on 9th September.

Folding into the broader narrative of Cosmo D's interconnected Off-Peak City games (so far consisting of 2015's Off-Peak, 2017's The Norwood Suite, and its 2020 follow-up Tales from Off-Peak City Vol. 1), Betrayal At Club Low sees players going undercover to attempt a rescue mission of sorts by infiltrating a "deceptively dangerous" nightclub/former coffin factory/"haven for wild-limbed dancing, mind-altering music and shady characters".

While previous games in the series were largely focussed on relaxed roaming and light puzzling as players soaked up their deliciously off-kilter sensibilities, Betrayal at Club Low does things a little differently, drawing inspiration from "short, punchy, independent zine RPGs" in order to evoke the feel of a one-off tabletop session.

Blue Archive Begins New Year Event in August

1 year 9 months ago

Blue Archive New Year

Nexon is ready to bid the past year goodbye and celebrate the ringing in of the New Year in Blue Archive. There's one catch to that sentiment, though: It's still August.

Nevertheless, celebrations will proceed, as the Blue Archive New Year event is live now in the English-language edition of the game. Titled "New Year's Rhapsody No. 68", the event brings two new limited-rarity characters to the fore. It also brings up a new story steeped in New Year's traditions, as reflected in the game world of Kivotos.

Check out an animated promo for the event below.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-jmmGkSgb-8

The Blue Archive New Year event stars Problem Solver 68, a school club made up of several Gehenna Academy students. Aru, Mutsuki, Kayoko, and Haruka are looking to take their budding criminal organization to the next level by dressing to impress for their New Year's shrine visit. Hijinks, naturally, will ensue. The event adds Aru and Mutsuki in New Year's kimono outfits. Aru (New Year) and Mutsuki (New Year) are both Striker units. Aru's sniper rifle now does Piercing damage, and her EX skill chains its damage to enemies caught in its arc. Mutsuki's machine gun spreads its damage out in an unusual arch-shaped pattern to light up foes with Mystic damage.

How to Rescue & Gain Followers in Cult of the Lamb

1 year 9 months ago

There are many different tasks you must do to upkeep your base in Cult of the Lamb. One, in particular, is establishing your camp by rescuing and gaining followers throughout the game. So, if you want to know how to do this feature, here’s a guide to help explain the various methods that can increase your follower count.

How to Rescue & Gain Followers in Cult of the Lamb

A cult leader wouldn’t be anything without their followers, so it is essential to rally up members for your society. At the beginning of Cult of the Lamb, you’ll start out alone, and one of your main priorities is to rescue and gain as many worshippers as possible by going on crusades, walking on pathways, and other random events.

Before doing anything else, you’ll need to unlock the follower’s component in the game by going on a crusade. Then, once the game mechanic is available to you, you can go on quests to defeat mini-bosses at the end of every subsection. After you successfully win the battle, this mini-boss will become your follower and dedicate their life to your cause.

Is The Sandman DC or Marvel? Answered

1 year 9 months ago

There’s a new goth on the block with Netflix’s adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s cult classic series, The Sandman.

The dark fantasy series has dominated the streaming service and has won a legion of new fans but many are wondering where Dream’s story first began and where The Sandman fits into the growing number of tv shows based on comic books. Here’s everything we know about whether The Sandman is DC or Marvel.

Is The Sandman DC or Marvel?

The Sandman is indeed a DC property however, many fans view it as an entirely separate entity. This is because The Sandman is part of DC’s Vertigo imprint. Vertigo was introduced in 1993 by Karen Berger, who was, at the time, an editor for DC. The goal of Vertigo was to attract a more mature audience to DC comics by telling darker and more adult-orientated stories in their pages.

Vertigo comics featured cursing, graphic violence, and drug use, all of which were a no go for mainline comics in DC. It also allowed DC to explore the darker and more mystical side of its universe without having to worry about the overall continuity. Authors writing for Vertigo were allowed total creative freedom.

The Sandman, while initially, part of DC’s mainline of comics, eventually found a home at Vertigo which was designed to attract British writers like Neil Gaiman. Berger found the point of view of UK writers to be unique and edgier, making them a perfect fit for the brand. While The Sandman is technically part of the DC canon, it exists in its own corner of that universe, and it’s very rare to see Dream cross paths with other DC heroes.

Is Fall Guys Down? How To Check Fall Guys Server Status

1 year 9 months ago

An occasional curse to multiplayer-only games is that you have to deal with servers dying out of nowhere. It’s a hassle, but it’s always a relief when a game is dealing with problems that you don’t have to try and figure out yourself. However, it is always a good idea to be aware of server outages. Here’s how to check the Fall Guys server status to see if the game is down.

Checking Fall Guys Server Status

One of the best ways to check on any Fall Guys server issues currently happening is to head on over to the official Fall Guys Twitter account. This is the best place to see if there is something wrong and keep on top of how long any fix might take.

Your second-best location to check on any server issues would be Down Detector. The nicest thing about Down Detector is that it relies on player reports, so there’s no way for any official acknowledgment of issues to know a problem is widespread.

Is Fall Guys Down?

According to Down Detector, in the last hour there have been a high of 530 reports of people having issues, though it has now dropped down to under 200. The Fall Guys Twitter account also put this out recently:

District 9 Director's New Game Will Be Anchored By an NFT Platform Called 'GunZ'

1 year 9 months ago

Gunzilla's upcoming multiplayer battle royale shooter title, Off The Grid (OTG), will incorporate an NFT platform called GunZ.

GunZ will utilize blockchain technology for in-game item trading, where players can buy new in-game items from other players. However, Gunzilla clarifies that trading is completely optional and that the studio will not hide progression or any features behind a paywall. Furthermore, Gunzilla says that it will never sell NFTs directly to players.

Gunzilla’s insistence on the GunZ platform revolves around the fact that in today’s free-to-play games, players don’t get to actually keep the in-game items they earned or paid for. For example, when a game shuts off permanently, whatever time or money the player invested goes down with it.

“You do not, and cannot, own anything. Anyone can read the EULA of any game to verify this. If you’re banned, for example, any item can be taken away from you, even if your ban is accidental. When you stop playing any free-to-play game, the money you’ve put in also disappears, “ explains Gunzilla CEO Vlad Korolev in a statement.

“We are re-inventing the system, putting the power back in the hands of gamers, and are using blockchain technology to make this happen. With OTG and GunZ, we are creating a universe that will set a new standard for the industry.”

EA and the NFL Renew Their Madden Esports Deal For Multiple Years

1 year 9 months ago

EA and the NFL have announced a multi-year renewal of their partnership that guarantees the continuation of their Esports league, the Madden NFL Championship Series (MCS).

The companies didn't specify exactly how long the partnership had been renewed for but they did announce that the previous year's MCS season proved immensely successful as it saw a four times increase for its average minute audience year over year.

The MCS will be aligned with the actual NFL season as a result of the continued partnership, meaning the Esports championship, the Ultimate Madden NFL 23 Bowl, will take place during the week of Super Bowl LVII. The finals include a prize pool of $1 million in addition to another $700,000 available throughout the season.

"Madden NFL esports continues to deepen the love of the game with fans, players, and viewers. It’s teaching viewers how to improve at the game, while deepening engagement with Madden’s most loyal fanbase," said VP of EA Esports Brent Koning. "Since the MCS started five years ago, it has helped showcase the game by elevating the greatest players in the world, while giving every single Madden NFL player the chance to go from couch to champion."

Ed Kiang, vice president of video gaming at the NFL, also added: "Extending our partnership with EA is another avenue for the league to grow fandom off the field and enhance the EA Sports Madden NFL Championship Series by aligning Madden competitive gaming with NFL moments."
