Is Lady Sif Dead? Answered

1 year 10 months ago

Thor’s companions and family members have met their demise in countless films of the franchise. However, out of all the characters, Lady Sif’s fate remains a mystery since Loki banished her in Thor: Ragnarok. Due to the character’s absence, fans have wondered, did she somehow die offscreen? Here’s everything you need to know about Lady Sif.

Is Lady Sif Dead?

During the premiere of Thor: Love and Thunder, Jamie Alexander states that she will be in the latest film, which presumably confirms that Lady Sif is not dead. When asked about her training regimen for this role, the actress says, “I didn’t have to train, and you’ll see why.” So, this could hint at the character’s possible fate in this upcoming movie, and it might not end well for her.

The 25 Best PC Games to Play Right Now

The PC gaming landscape has shifted in recent years, both in terms of technological advancements in graphics cards and gaming monitors and in the makeup of IGN's PC gaming staff and contributors. As a result, outside of some real stalwarts, our list of the best modern PC games is substantially different compared to years past.

To be clear, this list does not attempt to pick out the “best” or “most influential” PC games ever made. It’s also not a list of the most popular games out there, or a list that seeks to represent the top games of every genre. No, this is a list of 25 games that we, the IGN editors and contributors, collectively recommend the most, based on our tastes, and all from within the past 10 years.

Most recent game updates were made on July 6, 2022.

God of War Ragnarok FINALLY Has a Release Date - Beyond 757

1 year 10 months ago

On this week's episode of IGN's PlayStation show, Podcast Beyond!, host Jonathon Dornbush is joined by Brian Altano and Mark Medina to discuss all the latest and greatest in the world of PS4 and PS5 games. And of course, we jump right into the fact that God of War Ragnarok finally has a release date, and it's hitting on November 9. PlayStation also revealed the collector's editions for God of War Ragnarok, and we dig into what players can expect from the special editions for PS4 and PS5 players. We discuss God of War's release date and how it fits into the rest of PlayStation's year, what we expect we'll get from God of War Ragnarok ahead of its launch, such as trailers or a God of War-focused State of Play, and why it was so frustrating and disappointing to see God of War devs face abuse ahead of the release date reveal.

God of War Ragnarok's release date isn't the only big calendar change for the rest of 2022's PlayStation games lineup we discuss, though, as we also talk about Forspoken's delay into 2023. We dig into the unique phrasing Square Enix uses for Forspoken's release date delay, but how it may be a good thing for the game's chances at success. We also discuss why it makes sense for PlayStation and Square Enix to want to move Forspoken out of the fall, what PlayStation's end-of-year 2022 lineup will look like, and more. Plus, we discuss a bit of the other news of the week, including Sucker Punch confirming there are no Infamous or Sly Cooper games in the works, the alleged reports that Rockstar is reportedly not working on GTA 4 and Red Dead Redemption remasters, and dig into a Final Fantasy demo-focused Memory Card.

The Matrix Awakens Demo Is Leaving Soon So Get It While It Lasts

1 year 10 months ago

The Matrix Awakens, an impressive display of Unreal Engine 5's capabilities, was a demo released in December for PlayStation and Xbox consoles. However, the demo is leaving stores on July 9th so grab it while it's still available. Once you have the demo, you will be able to redownload it at your leisure.

The original release of the demo roughly coincided with the release of The Matrix Resurrections. Both Neo (Keanu Reeves) and Trinity (Carrie Anne Moss) appear in the demo and show off just how photorealistic Unreal Engine 5 can be. Though astute gamers will probably notice the difference between real and fake, in true Matrix fashion it was intended to blur the line between reality and gaming.

The demo itself is a technical marvel, showing off detailed models, heavy crowd density, and ray tracing. It includes cinematics and an on-rails section where you can shoot it out with agents during a thrilling car chase (naturally). You're also able to explore the open world sandbox and tinker around.

Speaking of tinkering around, many intrepid people have modified the game to add popular superheroes to the game. Most notably, Spider-Man and a Superman were added by modders to allow players to experience what it's like to move around the city as those characters. The Superman clone in particular makes one pine for another Superman game done right.

1 year 10 months ago

IGN received an unexpected supply drop today from Wizards of the Coast in the form of two upcoming Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair drops, both of which feature Fortnite crossover cards. While this crossover was previously announced, getting this box in the mail is the first we've seen of the specific cards in the drops, which you can take a look at in the gallery below:

The two drops are titled "Secret Lair x Fortnite" and "Secret Lair x Fortnite: Landmarks and Locations," the latter of which is a set of five full-art basic lands (one of each type). The main drop features the following seven cards reskinned with Fortnite art and names:

  • Shrinking Storm (Wrath of God)
  • Dance Battle (Dance of Many)
  • Supply Llama (Etherium Sculptor)
  • Crack the Vault (Grim Tutor)
  • Battle Royale (Triumph of the Hordes)
  • Battle Bus (Smuggler's Copter)
  • The Cube (Planar Bridge)

Both sets also have a secret card that WOTC has asked us not to spoil quite yet. (Who doesn't love a surprise?) We don't have all the details on these drops just yet, but both will go on sale starting July 21 at 9am PT on the Secret Lair website. One thing we can assume is that the fancy box they arrived in is not standard.

Where Is the Lost and Found In Stardew Valley? Answered

1 year 10 months ago

Wondering where the Lost and Found is located in Stardew Valley? Here’s what you need to know.

Stardew Valley, the sleepy simulation role-playing game by developer Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone, has led to plenty of players enjoying an open-ended country lifestyle of their dreams since 2016. Even with over half a decade under its belt, new players still can go into the game with zero knowledge and eventually learn the ropes. Before long, they’ll need to use the Lost and Found box, which new players definitely won’t know how to find in the beginning hours.

Like the name says, the Lost and Found box is where players can retrieve left behind and missing items. Usually, players will use the Lost and Found box to pick up special orders, lost tools, hats from children, and other event items. It’s an essential tool in the game that keeps you covered through your day-to-day activities. The only catch is finding it. Here’s where to find the Lost and Found in Stardew Valley.

Stardew Valley Lost and Found Box Location

You can find the Lost and Found box within Mayor Lewis’ house. After heading into town from the direction of your farm, head down the town square and pass The Stardrop Saloon. Once you reach the three benches nestled between bushes below the Saloon, Mayor Lewis’ wooden-fenced house will be off to the right. Inside his home rests the Lost and Found box with a question mark above it, sitting next to a pair of colored books in the top-left corner.

When Does One Piece Animation Get Good? Answered

1 year 10 months ago

Wondering when the One Piece animation really starts to get good? As with any anime that has been around a long time, this is a question that many are bound to have about Oda’s iconic series. If this is a really big deal for you, then don’t stress, as we’ve got everything you need to know about when things really start to kick off.

When Does One Piece Animation Get Good? Answered

While the answer may vary depending on who you ask, as diehards will likely tell you the animation has always been good, the majority of people tend to agree that things increase gradually as the series goes on. This makes complete sense, as animation improved year by year since One Piece debuted in 1999.

If you want an actual numbered episode to go by, Water 7 Arc, which starts at episode 229, is where you’ll start to notice a lot more quality in the animation for One Piece. Alternatively, a lot of other people will also say that One Piece reaches its prime animation around episode 600, as the quality reaches the peak animation standards that we have today, especially when it comes to some of the sakuga devoted to Luffy’s fights.

It is also important to note that when it comes to visual quality, episode 44 is a common benchmark that many note where the visual quality isn’t an actual deterrent.

That is everything you need to know about when the One Piece animation really starts to get good. For more on the series, check out our in-depth article discussing when the plot starts to get good.

Final Fantasy 14 - an MMO at its zenith

1 year 10 months ago

Final Fantasy 14 has had an absolute stonker of a year. 2021 saw the release of its latest Expansion, Endwalker, and an extraordinary increase in players, making it the most profitable game in the Final Fantasy series' history. It's quietened down a little (and only a little), but with over eight-years worth of updates and millions of players to its name, FF14 is now, unsurprisingly, one of the biggest games on the planet.

It's a position the game rightfully deserves, with each of its expansions praised by critics for an epic storyline that's gone from confronting evil empires to quelling thousand-year wars or hopping dimensions and facing a universe-destroying embodiment of despair, all while deftly navigating the threads that tie it all together.

As an MMO full of references to other games in the series, FF14 is often called a 'Final Fantasy theme park' - but there's far more to it than that. Its storyline rivals any of the single-player FF games - yes, even FFVII - while the daddy of Final Fantasy and its original creator, Hironobu Sakaguchi, plays it for fun. He's so into it he started his own in-game fashion brand, in fact, and frequently tweets his adventures. Its blend of epic, player-central storyline and huge array of casual extras continues to surprise me even now, and despite approaching it with some scepticism after the original failed release in 2010, FF14's managed to keep its hooks in me consistently for over eight years, in a way no other game has.

God of War: Ragnarok Release Date Confirmed, Deluxe Packs Shown

1 year 10 months ago

God of War Ragnarok

God of War: Ragnarok now has a definite release date. The sequel to 2018's God of War is set for a November 9, 2022 launch date, according to Sony. This confirms earlier rumors published in Bloomberg. God of War: Ragnarok would have launched originally in 2021. Santa Monica Studio chose to delay the game due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a post on the PlayStation Blog, developer Santa Monica Studio promoted the impending release with a new cinematic trailer, titled Father and Son.

Check it out below.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dIQGI36BxDE

The brief "Father and Son" cinematic trailer shows off God of War star Kratos fighting alongside his son Atreus. Atreus is now a young man, indicating some time has passed since the pair's previous outing. During a fight, Kratos falls into a snowy valley, and fends off enemies with his shield. After Atreus catches up, the pair gets ready to face a giant, mountain-sized wolf. The wolf is likely Fenrir, in keeping with the series' recent Norse inspiration.

Alongside the news of the release date, Santa Monica Studio unveiled deluxe editions and preorder bonuses for God of War: Ragnarok.

Animal Crossing New Horizons: How to Save Your Game

1 year 10 months ago

Wondering how to save in Animal Crossing: New Horizons? Well, this guide will talk you through everything you need to know.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the latest entry in the series, exclusive to the Nintendo Switch. With a whole host of new activities, villagers, and features to dive into on this island getaway, you can bet your bottom bell that we’re going to be spending plenty of time toiling away on our town.

Of course, as much as we’d like to, we can’t live within our Animal Crossing town forever. Here’s how to save in Animal Crossing New Horizons.

Saving Your Game in Animal Crossing New Horizons

To save your game, press the ‘-‘ button on your Nintendo Switch’s right Joy-Con. Doing so will result in the game asking you whether you want to ‘Save and Continue’ or ‘Save and End.’

If you want to take a break from the game entirely, you’ll want to choose the ‘Save and End’ option as it’ll boot you out of your town once the saving process is complete.

But if you’re simply wanting to make sure all that time you’ve just spent patiently arranging flowers doesn’t go to waste if your Switch battery ran out, you can choose the ‘Save and Continue’ option to carry on playing.

Is There Auto-Save?

It turns out that yes, Animal Crossing: New Horizons does have an auto-save system.

This kicks in fairly regularly, and will cause a small blue ring to appear in the top right-hand corner of the screen.

However, be warned that you shouldn’t turn off your Switch while the blue ring is visible on the screen. If you do, you could corrupt your save file, or at the very least, the auto-save won’t have completed.

Tour De Jeux: Knights And Bikes and the joy of personalising your ride

1 year 10 months ago

After starting my Tour De Jeux with the official Tour De France game, stage 2 takes me to Knights And Bikes. Foam Sword's 2019 game evokes childhood joys of zooming around with your pal and tricking out your bicycle with reflectors and Spokey Dokeys. That might seem far from the Tour De France but grown-up cyclists are just as keen on customising their bikes for coolness, and even some Tour bikes are rocking garish decoration this year.

After 10 hours I think I'm nearing the end of Xenoblade Chronicles 3's tutorial

1 year 10 months ago

I'm a bit baffled by Xenoblade Chronicles 3. What's set to be a climax for a trilogy that started off so spectacularly with the 2010 original - and following on from the stuttering start of creator Tetsuya Takahashi's infamously stunted Xenosaga series - this JRPG epic has an awfully slow start all of its own. The dozen hour mark is fast creeping up and the training wheels remain firmly in place, while perhaps more frustratingly so too are embargo restrictions that mean I can't tell you much about the really interesting stuff.

Still, I can tell you some of the pertinent stuff. If you're a returning fan, know this: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 takes the best bits of the preceding games, folding in a fascinating evolution of Xenoblade Chronicles 2's broad and brilliant combat, the more defined fantasy of the original (and ditching some of the more embarrassing anime excesses) and some of the more open-ended elements of Xenoblade Chronicles X (though sadly I can't really go into any detail on them just yet).

Perhaps most importantly, it's technically far more impressive than the clearly compromised Xenoblade Chronicles 2. That was a launch year title for the Switch way back at the tail-end of 2017, of course, and in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 you can feel the five years of progress and familiarity that Monolith Soft have built up with the hardware - this looks simply sublime playing either handheld or docked, with the impossible vistas of the world of Aionios stretching to the distance (it bodes well for Breath of the Wild 2, too, with Monolith Soft's epic topography so key to the success of Zelda's open world outings). It's seriously impressive stuff, and Digital Foundry will have a deeper dive on the details closer to launch.
