A group of more than 1,400 singers have come together to sing Final Fantasy 14's iconic Close in the Distance track, with video game cover artist Alex Moukala at the helm of the project.

Shared on his Twitter, the song's arrangement is also by Moukala alongside fellow cover artist Husky by the Geek, while the singers include a number of special guests including Final Fantasy vocal artists Susan Calloway, Amanda Achen, and Paolo Andrea di Pietro.

YouTubers (and musicians) Studio Nicktendo, Enochian Tori, and Lollia Rose also take part, alongside a handful of others. The truly impressive part comes towards the end of the song, however, as 1,400 more members of the Final Fantasy 14 community appear on screen, all singing along too.

"I can't stress enough how much of a difference you all made here," Moukala said In follow-up tweets. "The 1,000 of you who sent us beautiful submissions and the superb soloists who lent us their voices for this love letter."

Upon thanking each other contributor, Moukala added: "It's safe to say this game has changed so many lives. It wouldn't have been possible without you all.

Square Enix Explains How Final Fantasy: Crisis Core Remaster Will Differ from the Original

1 year 9 months ago

Final Fantasy 7 fans have been clamoring for more details after last month’s announcement of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion, a remaster of 2007’s Crisis Core, and today Square Enix’s Twitter gave us a tiny taste of what we can expect to see in the full game.

According to Square, the Zack Fair-centric game will differ from the original in several ways including an improved camera and character models.

In last month’s trailer, we got a glimpse at the fast and frantic combat as well as the much-improved character models. The game is using the new designs for Aerith and Zack from Final Fantasy 7 Remake as well as improving other character models.

Players will also get an optimized UI as well as a new menu-based battle system. While details on the battle system haven’t been revealed yet, the glimpses we’ve gotten of the battle system don't appear to be too far off from the original and still include the slot-machine-like DMW system.

The Final Fantasy 7 compilation has always included some great music, and the Crisis Core remaster will include new background music arrangements by Takeharu Ishimoto. The remaster will also feature voiceovers in scenes that were previously text only.

How to Get Iridium in Stardew Valley

1 year 9 months ago

Iridium is among the most valuable resources in Stardew Valley and if you are wondering how to get it, then we have your back. Stardew Valley is all about farming and mining for items and there are many things that can be crafted using the skills, knowledge, and materials that players collect along the way.

Iridium is a valuable metal that can be used to fully upgrade crafted items to their highest level and also create the Iridium Energy Shirt. Here’s how to get Iridium in Stardew Valley.

How to Get Iridium in Stardew Valley

The best and possibly the easiest way you can find Iridium in Stardew Valley is by heading over to Skull Cavern. In this area, you’re going to find a lot of Iridium Nodes. Not only that, but the amount you find increases with each checkpoint (10 floors) you unlock. That means that the higher you go, the more you’ll end up digging up.

Another great source of Iridium is via Magma and Omni Geodes on lower mine levels. These can be obtained repeatedly by mining all rocks on mine levels 115-119. To further improve the amount of geode you get, select the Geologist Profession at mining level 5 and the Excavator Profession at mining level 10.

How to Get Scute in Minecraft

1 year 9 months ago

Considering all of the content updates and changes there have been to Minecraft over the years, it’s not as easy to keep track of raw materials as it once was. If you’re trying to make your way through certain biomes and interact with animals, you’ll probably want to get your hands on Scute, and here’s how. We’ll also cover what crafting recipes require Scute.

Where to Find Scute in Minecraft

You will first want to get yourself to a beach biome, as it is where sea turtles spawn. You’ll need to find baby sea turtles as they will drop Scute when they mature into adults. This is the only guaranteed source of Scute. However, it is hard to farm Scute as each baby sea turtle only drops a single Scute when they mature.

Studio MDHR’s Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course expansion is finally here, and while it errs a wee bit on the shorter side, it’s still an absolute blast that offers some of the most inventive and creative bosses in the entire game. With that in mind, then, we thought that we’d rank all the bosses from hard to controller out the window.

While there are six core bosses in the DLC, there’s also an additional secret boss which we thought we’d include in here as well. So, without further ado, let’s get started, shall we?

Skull And Bones Returns This Thursday In A New Ubisoft Forward

Skull and Bones, Ubisoft's long-delayed pirate multiplayer game, rises from the depths of the sea on Thursday during a livestream presentation. Announced by Ubisoft today, this show kicks off at 11 a.m. PT and will hopefully provide a substantial look at the open-world multiplayer ship battles and progress made since the delay. Skull and Bones showed promise when it was first announced during an E3 press conference in 2017. Slated to release in the following year, it was indefinitely delayed, even thought to be canceled given the lack of updates from Ubisoft. With fresh wind behind its sails, we will now see what it looks like on current-gen platforms. Come Thursday, you can view the Ubisoft Forward livestream right here.

Final Fantasy XIV Update 6.18 Brings Data Center Travel and it’s Already Down Due to Massive Demand

1 year 9 months ago

Today Square Enix implemented update 6.18 on its popular MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV, bringing forth Data Center Travel.

The feature has been highly anticipated by the game’s community, as allows all players in a region to travel among data centers and meet and play together regardless of the data center they have chosen, effectively bringing down most of the barriers between worlds.

Yet, the feature has received demand so massive that the servers have not been able to cope. According to a notice from Square Enix, the system has received 15,000 visit requests per minute while it was active.

I say “was” because the system has been brought down temporarily until further notice. It will be gradually reopened as the developers assess the situation.

Yet, this is a rather sizable issue for the many who have managed to travel to another data center, as they’re now stuck there, lacking some of the features that don’t work across servers.

We’ll have to see how this develops and we’ll update you when we receive new information.

The update also included tweaks to PvP actions, new worlds for the European data centers, and more.

You can read the full patch notes here.

Final Fantasy XIV Night Club Advertises With Real-Life Billboards Drawing Ire from Part of the Community

1 year 9 months ago

Final Fantasy XIV has become extremely popular over the past few years, and you may happen to see some peculiarly related billboards.

As a growing, diverse community, Square Enix’s MMORPG has given birth to several sub-communities and scenes, and the clubbing one is among the most active.

If you walk the streets of Ul’dah and Limsa Lominsa, especially on a weekend evening, you’ll most probably see several players advertising said clubs in “Shout” chat.

Those ads will usually lead you to a brightly decorated house in one of the game’s housing wards, where you’ll be able to socialize, dance, and more, often prompted to listen to a live DJ on a Twitch stream.

At times, these venues will offer additional services for a fee to be paid in gil (the in-game currency of Final Fantasy XIV)

One of said Night Clubs, named “Rain” on the Crystal Datacenter (you can find its website here, with the warning that it includes content that can be considered mildly NSFW) has decided to kick the advertisement up a notch or ten for its “Summer Bash” party on July 7, allegedly renting four billboards in different locations of Texas and California.

Companies Should Release More Classic Game Collections

1 year 9 months ago

Capcom recently announced a 10-game Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection, bundling together the six Game Boy Advance Battle Network titles and the various versions that were originally released. I’m excited by the news because I was worried these excellent spin-offs would never receive a revival like the platforming Mega Man series did a few years back. Many Battle Network games are currently only available on the Game Boy Advance or the now-dying Wii U virtual console, while others remain locked away on the Nintendo DS. However, a large chunk of the series will now be available to anyone who owns a PlayStation 4, Switch, or a PC running Steam. It’s great to see these classic games on modern platforms, and I hope other companies take note of the preservation strategy Capcom has taken in recent years.

Metal Gear Rising Speedrun Removed After Runner Played Pre-Recorded Video for SGDQ

1 year 9 months ago

Videos of a world-record speedrun of the Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance DLC has been taken down by GDQ after it was revealed the speedrunner misrepresented their run.

Summer Games Done Quick is an annual video game speedrunning event where participants speedrun through games while raising money for charity. One game showcased was the DLC for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.

Speedrunner Mekarazium set a new world record for the Blade Wolf DLC during the event. However, a video replay of the run was later removed from the official GDQ YouTube channel and it was confirmed that it was due to forgery.

“Yesterday, we were made aware that Mekarzarium played a segmented video for his DLC run at Summer Games Done Quick 2022. Mekazarium has since admitted to this, both to some members of the community as well as directly to GDQ staff.”

Typically SGDQ is an in-person event hosted in Minneapolis. However, since the COVID-19 pandemic, the event switched to a remote format. This year there was a hybrid format where the event returned in-person, but still played remote runs from players who were not able to fly out.

Mekazarium was one such runner who participated remotely. But while runners are expected to perform live, Mekazarium instead ran a pre-recorded gameplay video of Metal Gear Rising and pretended to play the game during his stream as if it were in real-time.

Watch Over 1,000 Final Fantasy XIV Community Members Sing “Close in the Distance” in New Video

1 year 9 months ago

The Final Fantasy XIV community often sparks some amazing feats of creativity, and today we see a brand new one.

Music producer, composer, and YouTuber Alex Moukala released a video that includes about 1,400 community members as they perform the theme song from the Endwalker expansion, “Close in the Distance.” Additional special guests including musicians and YouTubers (including Susan Calloway and Amanda Achen, who are definitely familiar among the FFXIV community) also join in performing the song arranged by Moukala himself alongside Husky by the Geek.

This glorious crescendo of musical goodness is the result of several months of work since the announcement Moukala posted on social media in February.

He dedicated the song to the developers of the game and those who work on it, on top of the community itself. He also promised, to honor composer Masayoshi Soken and his courage, to make sure that all proceeds from the video’s monetization will go to “some good charities.”

Soken-san recently revealed to have battled cancer since October 2020, and he opted to continue to work from the hospital. Thankfully, he is now better.

This Impressive Stranger Things-Themed Tentacle Gown Is the Stuff of Nightmares

Stranger Things is one of Netflix’s biggest and most popular series, so it’s not surprising at all to see that it has grown such a dedicated fan base, but this is on a whole other level. Cosplayer Lie has been working on a very impressive-looking gown themed around the Upside Down, and after tons of work, the gown is finally done.

You can get a look at it in the embedded tweet down below:

According to Lie, the gown was made entirely from leftover plastic, tied together with lace and wire. Lie painted it with acrylics and wood glue to give it a bit more texture and… yeah, it definitely looks like it came straight out of the Upside Down, which I’m sure was the whole point of the project in the first place, tentacles and all.

Where Is Gamora in Thor: Love and Thunder? Answered

1 year 9 months ago

The Thor: Love and Thunder trailer shows off various famous characters of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including the legendary Guardians of the Galaxy. But, after analyzing the movie’s cast, Gamora is not in the movie’s latest release. So, where is Gamora, and will she be in the next Thor installment?

***Spoilers for Events in Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame Below***

Where Is Gamora in Thor: Love and Thunder?

Although there is no official information on Gamora’s whereabouts, she is presumably off on her own adventure. However, this version of the character is from a different universe since Thanos sacrificed the original Gamora in Avengers: Infinity War.

Fortunately, fans still have a general idea of where she is because of the timeline within Endgame. For example, if we look at the movie’s deleted scene: “Avengers Take A Knee,” we can see Gamora somberly looking over at Tony Stark while the rest of the members mourn his loss. Then, she turns away from the group and walks out to a mysterious location.

Artery Gear Global July Roadmap All But Confirms Atelier Ryza Collaboration; Raids & Guild Battles Coming Soon

1 year 9 months ago

It’s been about a month since the global release of Artery Gear: Fusion, and it’s probably safe to say that the honeymoon period lasted a very short period of time. Shorter than you’d expect from most new gacha game releases, in fact.

However, the developers have since given us a sneak peek into what’s coming to the global version of the game this month. The news comes by way of YouTuber TimaeuSS, who’s unveiled the July roadmap, and there are new events to look forward to, as well as some solutions to the stamina drought that’s plaguing the game right now.

You can check out the video down below:

At the time of writing, Artery Gear players can check out the Magical Girl Erica event, which also comes with Nina’s featured banner. The event comes to a close on the 12th, after which we’ll see the release of a big mysterious event. It’s been speculated that this is going to be the Atelier Ryza collaboration event, as we’ve already seen it in the Taiwan, JP, and CN versions.

Considering that it looks like we’re following the Taiwan schedule, we’ll likely see the Ryza event next week.

In more exciting news, however, the developers have also stated that we’ll be getting Guild bosses and Raid bosses this month as well. These are features that only arrived in the JP, CN, and Taiwan versions months after release, but the global version will be getting them much sooner than expected.
