I adore the terrible banter of Elden Ring player messages

2 years 2 months ago

Playing Elden Ring before its official launch was an honest experience. I'd flick the game online and see a few messages scrawled on the ground in glowing chalk. It was a Lands Between where "try jumping" wasn't some evil trickery, and "illusory wall ahead" meant discovering a hidden passage.

Since the game's release, the player messages have taken on a different complexion. Before, I trusted in our small community trying its best to get by. Now I must treat every message with caution as they fight amongst themselves. The world is awash with trolls and their terrible craic, but I'm not sure I'd have it any other way.

Four Re:Zero Characters Come to Disgaea RPG in a New Event

Re:Zero characters are now available in Disgaea RPG. Boltrend announced the crossover event is now live in-game. This means there’s a new story starring characters like Subaru and Emilia, as well as opportunities to get characters via a limited time banner. A login bonus that gives people 1,000 Nether Quartz is also in effect.

Four members of the Re:Zero cast are available as playable characters in Disgaea RPG. The lead heroine Emilia will be present. So will the twin oni maids Ram and Rem. Rounding out the crew is Beatrice, who works in the Forbidden Library in Emilia’s home. While Subaru and Puck aren't playable, both of them will show up in the special event story.

Here’s a trailer showing off the playable characters and story teaser.

This isn't the first anime crossover for Disgaea RPG. It's happened before. For example, at the end of 2021 the game held a Seven Deadly Sins event. This added Meliodas, Elizabeth, Diane, Gowther, and Ban as playable characters. People who logged in could get Gowther for free.

Forspoken Delayed Until October 2022

Square Enix and Luminous Productions announced Forspoken is delayed and its release date will now fall in October 2022. Originally, the PS5 and PC game was supposed to appear on May 24, 2022. However, it now will appear on October 11, 2022.

Here is Luminous Productions' full statement regarding the new Forspoken delay. It cited a desire to maintain its quality as the reason for it being pushed back.

We have made the decision to move the release date of Forspoken to October 11, 2022. Our vision for this exciting new IP is to deliver a game world and hero that gamers across the globe will want to experience for years to come, so getting it right is extremely important to us. To that end, during the next few months we will focus all of our efforts on polishing the game and can’t wait for you to experience Frey’s journey this fall.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support. We look forward to sharing more about Forspoken with you soon.

The announcement didn't note if this means the In Tanta We Trust prequel Forspoken DLC will also be delayed. That will follow events before Frey finds herself transported to a new world. The character Tanta will feature prominently in it. Back when the May 2022 release date was announced, it had a Winter 2022 release window.

The new Forspoken release date is October 11, 2022 following the delay. It will show up on the PS5 and PC worldwide.

EA Motive will be turning down the lights and cranking up the volume for another look at its still-early-in-development remake of Visceral Games' much-love sci-fi horror classic Dead Space in a new developer livestream airing on Friday, 11th March.

This will, of course, be our second opportunity to scrutinise EA Motive's remake; following its unveiling last July, the developer shared a very early look at its progress as part of an "unorthodox" livestream one month later, focussing on enhancements being made to the original's moody environments, zero-g traversal, and dismemberment and damage systems.

Gigantic Series 4th Form Shin Godzilla Figure Revealed

2 years 2 months ago

Shin Godzilla fans are in for a treat, as a brand new figure of everyone’s favorite Kaiju has just been revealed by Mamegyorai. Manufactured by x-PLUS as a part of the Gigantic Series Deforial, this new piece stands at about 29 cm.

Fans of the series will recognize the Gigantic Series Deforial figure as the fourth form in the movie Shin Godzilla, which was a new radically reinterpreted incarnation of the monster back in 2016. Unlike most Godzilla flicks, this one was shot more as a horror disaster Kaiju movie, making the titular character the antagonist instead of the hero or anti-hero.

Microsoft Flight Simulator PMDG Boeing 737 Gets Dev Update; Osaka Kansai Airport Gets Trailer & Tarama Announced; Dubai & More Released

2 years 2 months ago

Third-party developers had a lot of updates to showcased today, on top of a couple of releases, about add-ons for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

First of all, we hear from PMDG, which provided a development update about its much-anticipated Boeing 737.

We hear about the situation of the beta test and take a look at the weathering work done to make the flight deck look more “lived in.”

We also get the promise of new preview videos made in collaboration with Drzewiecki Design.

“As we turn the corner, entering the fourth week of testing on our new PMDG 737-700 for MSFS product, I wanted to give you just a small view into how things are going. I neglected to update you last weekend as I was coming off a week of flying and was highly engrossed in digging through our tracking system and mapping out strategies for bringing testing to a successful conclusion. It is always amazing to me how quickly two weekend days can slip by when you get into a good work-groove, and Dr. Vaos and I spent pretty much all of the last nine days working hand-in-glove on a battery of issues that have been wrapped up for a new beta build that we just pushed out a few moments ago.

Updated Witcher 3 First Person Mod Feels Like an Entirely Different Game

2 years 2 months ago

Despite releasing in 2015, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is still one of the most popular games in the industry, maintaining a staunch player-base and attracting new people to experience the game’s impressively detailed story. Thanks to this, the community is alive and thriving, especially the modding community.

Just like with plenty of other titles, The Witcher 3’s modding community has a boatload of impressive additions that help make the game feel like an entirely different experience. Arguably the coolest one, though, gives the players the ability to play in first person.

ZHP Switch and PC Trailer Shows How to Become a Hero in NIS Classics Vol. 2

ZHP Switch and PC Trailer Shows How to Become a Hero in NIS Classics Vol. 2

NIS America released a spotlight trailer showing the Switch and PC version of ZHP: Unlosing Ranger vs. Darkdeath Evilman. This tactical role-playing game will launch in May 2022 as half of NIS Classics Vol. 2. It has been more than a decade since ZHP originally launched for PlayStation Portable in 2010.

The ZHP spotlight trailer begins with Pirohiko Ichimonji, the Absolute Victory Unlosing Ranger, rushing to confront an enemy. Unfortunately, instead of saving the day, Pirohiko gets hit by a car. So now, it is up to the player to take on his Morph Belt, become the new Absolute Victory Unlosing Ranger, and vanquish the wicked Darkdeath Evilman.

Character customization is a major aspect of the game. There is typical equipment to use, but there is also a Body Modification system to further increase your stats and gain additional benefits. Your home base can be customized as well with facilities that provide more gameplay advantages. Meanwhile, the grid-based dungeons are multi-level and procedurally generated. Completing dungeons is another way to increase your stats, and the final goal is to become strong enough to defeat Darkdeath Evilman.

The ZHP spotlight trailer offers a fast glimpse of each of these elements.

Battlefield 2042's delayed scoreboard UI refresh update arrives tomorrow

Battlefield 2042's delayed 3.3 update, which introduces a refreshed Scoreboard UI alongside a number of bug fixes, will launch tomorrow, 8th March - and the previously announced "exclusive bundle" being given to certain players as compensation for the beleaguered FPS' delayed first season, arrives at the same time.

Update 3.3 was initially due to launch in February, but DICE made the decision to delay its release to "improve the quality of our updates, and include additional changes". Its key new feature, however, remains the aforementioned Scoreboard UI refresh, which DICE has detailed more thoroughly in its latest patch notes, confirming an "improved" Match Overview, a new team vs. team split look for Conquest, Breakthrough, Rush, and Team Deathmatch modes.
