CD Projekt execs get big bonuses despite messy Cyberpunk 2077 launch
It's safe to say Cyberpunk 2077 had a particularly rocky launch in December last year. With the game struggling to run on last-gen consoles, CD Projekt eventually started providing players with refunds, while Sony fully removed the game from the PlayStation Store (from which it still remains absent). CD Projekt has since issued various apologies for the launch, promising to continue patching the game and fixing its many bugs.
Thanks to a high number of pre-orders, the game still sold 13.7m copies, helping CD Projekt make over £215m in profit last year. Yet some analysts were expecting the game to perform better than this - and so were some of the game's developers. According to a new report by Bloomberg's Jason Schreier [paywall], some developers were expecting bigger bonuses than what they eventually received, and could have received more if the game had been delayed to launch in a better state. CD Projekt executives, meanwhile, are still taking home some pretty enormous bonuses despite the messy launch.

This is the latest in a line of similar lullaby albums featuring video game music from Gentle Love, with previous titles remixed including Celeste, Shovel Knight and Undertale.

Dungeons & Dragons Podcast Features Jeff Goldblum As An Elf Sorcerer
A Dungeons & Dragons podcast with Jeff Goldblum as an elf? We're calling it now, we're rating it 10 out of 10 Goldblums. In this new D&D podcast, Goldblum takes on the role of a sorcerer that goes by the name of Balmur as part of the Dark Dice podcast. This makes a new season for the ongoing D&D campaign, which is slated to kick off next month.
The Jurassic Park star is getting in touch with his magical side for his latest role alongside five other characters. Just like with any other Dungeons & Dragons campaign, we have no idea how his character will fare until the dice are rolled. The plot thickens, and so does our excitement because Goldblum is a national treasure.
As reported by Deadline, the newest season of the Dark Dice podcast is called The Long March and is set to air on May 12. This is an audio-only podcast, so we can't see his exaggerated expressions as an elf in person, but his voice can be recognized from a mile away. You can catch up on the journey thus far right here.
Call Of Duty's New Battle Pack And In-Game Challenge Will Help Fund Veteran Employment
May is Military Appreciation Month, and Activision is lending a helping hand to veterans in need by launching the Call of Duty Endowment Medical Heroes campaign. The initiative aims to raise money to place combat veterans, such as medics and hospital corpsmen, into high-quality jobs. Beginning today, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Call of Duty: Warzone will feature a special battle pack with proceeds from its sale helping fund the initiative.
This pack, dubbed the Call of Duty Endowment Battle Pack (posted above), includes a new Operator skin created in partnership with Timothy Hobbs Jr., an Army Veteran Combat Medic and Call of Duty fan. Endowment helped find Hobbs a job once he returned home, and all net proceeds from the pack will fund the campaign with $2 million being the goal. You can get a look at the battle pack and hear all about Hobbs’ story in the short video below.

Destiny 2 Season 14: Here's How Vault Of Glass Raid Will Approach 'World's First'
Destiny 2 Season 14 is just around the corner, which means a ton of new features and gear to look forward to. With the return of the epic Vault of Glass raid from the first Destiny game, some have questioned how Bungie is going to handle the World's First event that puts prizes on the line for the fireteam that can run it blind first. Since Vault of Glass isn't new, will there still be a World's First? Or are there enough changes to justify this tradition? Luckily, Bungie has given Guardians some answers.
It's time to take the fight back to Antheon once more and the ability to do just that is least an a month away! While the overall story of Vault of Glass isn't being touched at all, that doesn't mean that the raid mechanics are staying the same. "Our goal is to keep the feeling similar to how you remember, but we have made some updates to bring this content to Destiny 2 standards," said Bungie in its latest update blog post.
IO Interactive Is Reportedly Working On A New Fantasy Game For Xbox
IO Interactive is still celebrating the successful launch of its most recent Hitman game, but that doesn't mean that the studio is resting on that alone. In a new report, it is revealed that the studio could very well be working on a brand new fantasy IP for Xbox (in addition to the James Bond game that is also in the works).
The latest report comes via Windows Central in the video below. In the video, it is revealed that Microsoft has a few exciting projects in the works concurrently, among them being a fantasy game from IO. This is interesting because several weeks ago I had an anonymous message tell me through the social app Tumblr that a game with "dragons" (likely saying this knowing my love for fantasy games) was coming from the Hitman studio, though my trail ended there. Now, Eurogamer is stating that their own sources have seemingly corroborated that message, and the report from Windows Central, stating that it is a AAA game and is years away from being revealed.
Click here to watch embedded mediaReport: IO Interactive working on a fantasy-themed IP exclusively for Xbox
The rumor mills are abuzz this morning, courtesy of a report from Windows Central that suggests IO Interactive is currently at work on a brand new fantasy IP, with the project allegedly in development as an Xbox exclusive title.
The unnamed game (codenamed "Project Dragon") is reportedly a large-scale, AAA adventure, set in a medieval fantasy world. It should also be noted that development is in its very early stages, and the title is not expected to see the light of day for many years. The game is also expected to be IOI's fabled "unannounced IP" that was teased back in the summer of 2019.
IO Interactive continues to see good fortune since it rolled the dice and broke away from Square Enix back in 2017. Having gone independent as both developer and publisher, IOI has seen amazing success with Hitman, bagged a highly lucrative license in the form of "Project 007", and recently secured its third studio in beautiful Barcelona, Spain. Right now, the sky's the limit for the Danish developer.
With Hitman cemented as a long-running flagship franchise — and two potentially huge titles on the horizon — IOI could be poised to become one of the biggest and most recognizable developers in gaming's ninth generation. And it deserves every measure of said success.

TFI Friday: 3 new text-based games with a twist
What a world, what a world! Recently I read a book called The Appeal, which I enjoyed very much. The framing of it is a couple of junior lawyers going through a bunch of case notes they've been sent, and so the book itself is mostly emails and messages between the central cast of characters. You have to figure out the shape of what you don't have by looking at what you do. It's very good!
So, inspired by that, this week I've got three text-based games for you, but with a twist. They each do something a bit different, maybe in how they play with the format, or how they bring in interactivity. For a bonus, definitely check out the Pokémon parody in a font file that Lauren wrote about a couple of weeks back.
Anti dungeon crawler Legend Of Keepers has clawed into full launch
If you're tired of dungeon crawling, perhaps you're up for a bit of dungeon defending. Anti-crawler Legend Of Keepers has cleared the early access floor and has headed up to a full launch. You'll hire on as a manager at Dungeons Company and devise a series of traps and minions to keep those pesky "heroes" off your property. Management is tough though, because your minion employees always seem to be getting into trouble and need you to command their battles. The full launch for Legend Of Keepers comes with a new update adding new monsters, modes, and more.

Fall Guys Delayed On Xbox, Switch
Although Fall Guys, the jellybean battle royale developed by newly acquired Epic Games studio Mediatonic, has been playable on PC and PlayStation consoles since August 2020, it’s going to miss its planned summer release on Xbox and Switch.

Fall Guys has been delayed on Switch and Xbox
Developer Mediatonic has delayed the release of Fall Guys for Xbox and Switch, saying it needs more time to incorporate everything it wants to include for launch. But on the positive side, crossplay is on the way!
Mediatonic initially announced it would be bringing Fall Guys' ludicrous last-bean-standing action to Nintendo and Microsoft's platforms this summer. In a new post on its website, however, the developer confirmed a change of plans, explaining summer is "unfortunately just too soon for us to include all of the tasty new features we're working on."
There's no suggestion of when Fall Guys might finally arrive Xbox and Switch following the delay - although Mediatonic says it's still aiming to "launch on these platforms as quickly as possible" - but the developer has attempted to soften the blow by revealing one of the new features it currently has in development: crossplay.
EE now offers Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and unlimited data for gaming at £10 per month
Mobile network EE is offering a new add-on to its existing phone or SIM-only customers that grants you an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership and unlimited data use for gaming for just £10 per month.
That makes it a rather good deal if you're looking to sign up for Game Pass Ultimate or your subscription is about to expire. Sure, it'll save you one whole Great British pound off a regular monthly membership, but more importantly, you get the benefit of all that free data to use for game streaming on your phone.
The delights on Halo while on the bus, Gears while in the park (would people do this?) and - let's be honest, the most important benefit - Slay the Spire while pooping, await.
Fall Guys for Xbox & Switch Delayed Out of Summer; Will Include Crossplay
Today Mediatonic revealed that the upcoming Xbox and Switch versions of Fall Guys (currently only on PlayStation and PC) will be delayed. Originally slated to release sometime this summer, Mediatonic has decided that they will not have enough time to do everything they need to do by that originally release window. There currently isn’t a replacement release window but Mediatonic states they want to launch on Xbox and Switch as quickly as possible.
With so many new opportunities now in our hands, we’ve realised that our previously announced Summer 2021 Switch and Xbox release schedule is unfortunately just too soon for us to include all of the tasty new features we’re working on.
While we want to launch on these platforms as quickly as possible, we believe the Switch and Xbox releases are really going to be worth waiting for and we’re super grateful for your patience. This delay gives our team some time to add features like crossplay, so when we add new platforms, players will be able to stumble in harmony with their pals, regardless of their platform of choice.
On the bright side, Mediatonic did also confirm that both upcoming versions of Fall Guys will feature crossplay. While they didn’t precisely confirm how crossplay will work, based on the wording above it seems likely it will be full crossplay across all platforms.
Finally, the devs also confirmed that the season 4.5 update is on the way and will add two new rounds and costumes. However, there is no firm date for that either.
The most recent season of Fall Guys, Season 4, released back in March with a futuristic theme.
