D3 Publisher has released a lengthy Japanese trailer showcasing new footage of EDF: World Brothers, an upcoming spin-off entry in the bug-busting Earth Defense Force franchise.
Previously revealed back in June, Earth Defense Force: World Brothers will capture all of the frenetic, pulse-pounding, monster-squishing action of the EDF series, but stylised in a super-cute voxel world. As is the franchise wont, World Brothers will see players tacking an army of ants, wasps, spiders and other skyscraper-sized critters as they lay waste to some of Earth's most beloved locations and also Parliament.

My wife is finally starting her The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild journey for the first time, and it's like watching a kid in a candy store.
I get to relive the whole thing over again as she wanders the world of Hyrule searching for Koroks and shrines, and I couldn't be happier. One day, I'll replay it again on Master Mode among all of the other Zelda games I revisit over the course of my life.
For now, you can live in the moment too with the below combat technique montage from Redditor RinHara5aki. "How many of these combat techniques do you know?" is such a simple challenge, but an effective one.
To a lot of learned Breath of the Wild players, things like arrow-aiming slow-mo dodging and elongating the parry window are second nature. The same goes for frame-perfect parrying. Guardian flipping? Not so much unless you're keen on watching stunt videos. But what this video showcases most of all, is how invincible you can feel after you nail pretty much every aspect of this video.
That's in part where Breath of the Wild really ran away with the Game of the Year trophy for so many people. It's appealing in the sense that it gives you the freedom to explore, but it also has a level of complexity for hardcore Zelda fans. Not everyone loved it, but it's plain to see why it's so beloved.
If you're yet to check out Sectordub's charming and hilarious indie hit Pikuniku then you might be pleased to hear that it is currently available on PC, free-of-charge, via the Epic Games Store.
Originally released by Devolver Digital in January 2019, Pikuniku sees players guide an odd-looking armless fella - "Piku" - through a simplistic and colourful world, solving puzzles and overcoming obstacles with the aid of some lateral thinking and a swift kick in the backside. A co-operative multiplayer mode sees a friend step into the gangly legs of Piku's orange pal, Niku, with the duo using the teamwork to pick/kick their way through the game world.

As we approaching the anticipated second season of madcap battle royale title Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, Mediatonic has teased that - along with the previously revealed new games and skins - season two will offer unlucky beans the opportunity to bag up more of those elusive crowns.
"We've heard all of your feedback loud and clear," announced the official Fall Guys Twitter. "Winning crowns in Fall Guys against 59 other beans can be a little challenging. For season two, we've added over 600% more golden crowns into the Season Awards... FEATURED COSTUMES FOR EVERYONE."
No specific details were offered as to how these new crowns would appear in season two. Maybe they'll be in-game objectives, perhaps they'll just be level grinds, but it seems the evasive prize of the every-bean-for-themselves battle is perhaps going to be a little easier to come by. It's been argued by some players in the comments that this motion will lessen the impact of actually outlasting your bean brethren, but we'll see.
Further on the in same Twitter thread, Fall Guys appeared to tease a "very spicy" new way that season two will be rewarding its "most competitive" players, before going on to suggest that "nameplates" are also in the works, to be revealed in the coming days. So better get back in training, as the race to the top of the mountain is far from over.
Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is available now on PS4 and PC.
The Epic Games Store is giving away another free PC game this week, Pikuniku, with another two games planned to be free next week.

It is free starting today on the Epic Games Store and can be claimed until Thursday, Oct. 8 at 11 a.m. ET. Epic Games also announced the next two PC games to be free next week:

Apex Legends hasn’t had a major event in some time, but that’s about to change this month. Starting next week, players will be able to jump into the Aftermarket Collection event while getting a taste of the crossplay features that’ll be coming to Apex Legends in the future.
Respawn announced that crossplay would be coming to Apex Legends at some point this fall. Well Season 6 has added a lot of features, and now, crossplay is here in the form of a beta that’ll be available starting Oct. 6 along with the new event. The crossplay features will be between PS4, Xbox One, and PC users.
Players on all platforms will be able to join together to play the Flashpoint limited-time mode as part of the Aftermarket Collection event.
Flashpoint removes health and shield pickups. Instead, players need to go to “flashpoint” areas to regain health and shields. This will create hotspots of activity between teams though, so watch out.
The event is also adding 24 lmited-time items, including plenty of new skins.
Check out the trailer below to see everything mentioned above and more:
Kneel before the Goddess of the Sun, because Okami is officially invading the world of Teppen with the new The Tale of Amatsu no Kuni expansion that is available now.
The newest DLC for Teppen introcudes new Okami-inspired cards, abilities, skins, tribues, and the arrival of Amaterasu herself. Check out what's new in the reveal trailer below:

The arrival of two new tribes also comes with the new expansion with Kami and Spirit, in addition to the newest ability to join the fray: Crush. Crush allows players to harness their inner Goddess in order to dole out massive amounts of damage while deflecting counter damage.
The Celestal Plains is bountiful and offers three new Hero Arts:
Arcade Modes are a fun addition to Rainbow Six Siege and a feature that rotates every season with a few different modes to choose from. This week, Operation Shadow Legacy debuts the new Golden Gun 2.0 mode, with a few key changes that players should be aware of.
This mode presents a unique challenge for those that aren't the biggest fans of the D-50 weapon. For this Arcade experience, players will be equipped with only a D-50, but it's gold, so it's all good. For those that might not be the best shot, you might want to sit down for this next part:
The golden D-50 only fires off one round between each reload, so every shot needs to count. The one shot is incredibly powerful though and one hit can down your foe, but if you miss? You're going to pay the price.
Click here to watch embedded mediaThe most notable difference with this rendition of Golden Gun is that Mira, Goyo, and Amaru are not playable, and the maps available also see an increase with House, Coastline, and Border.
For those that want to keep that golden goodness forever and ever, the D-5K Golden Skin is available for 12,500 Renowns, or 360 credits for those that want to go that route.
Fall Guys is the adorable jelly bean adventure that took the gaming world by storm with its Mario Party-esque battle royale experience and season 2 aims to take its incredible success to new heights. With new levels, more skins, and a friend for Big Yeetus, season 2 will be an adventure, but now it will also have more pay off. More crowns are officially coming to Fall Guys.
Ever get in a match and were so sure you won, only to see another player actually take the crown? No longer do we need to yeet our systems into the sunset, because more crowns are coming, which means those crown-locked rewards are about to be a lot more accessible.
We've also come up with a new way to reward our most competitive players that will hit the game beyond Season 2... it's very spicy 🌶️
Since I do be out here teasing things... I'll probably tell you about THE NAMEPLATES in a few days pic.twitter.com/XTnIuUT5BR
Apex Legends players should be able to play together regardless of platform, and the team over at Respawn is making that happen. Apex Legends crossplay testing begins testing next week, though the default will continue to separate PC and console players unless the settings are changed by the player itself.
Respawn first made the promise that crossplay was going to be making its way over into Apex Legends back in June, but news has been mum since then. Today, the studio announced that the Apex crossplay beta is set to go live on October 6 and will include Origin, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 players.
For those that are worried about the blending of console and PC players, especially in terms of hacks that predominately take over the PC community; don't be. The default setting when this goes live will continue to separate PC and console players. The crossplay will only be enabled between those platforms should the player choose it in the game's menu.
Click here to watch embedded mediaAbzû developer Giant Squid's gorgeous forest adventure The Pathless will be launching alongside PlayStation 5 on 12th November, and it's coming to PS4, PC, and iOS the same day.
Publisher Annapurna Interactive describes The Pathless as a "mythic adventure game about an archer and an eagle", with players taking control of the former in a bid to thwart the dark curse gripping the beautiful island in which the game unfolds.
"Explore misty forests full of secrets, solve puzzles in ancient ruins, and test your skill in epic battles," it continues, "The bond with your eagle and the fate of the world hang in the balance."

"Not a lot I can comment on, other than, since we did get so many [questions], I wanted to be responsive the best way I could. "The way I think I’d like to do it is, I’d like to echo something you’ve heard from our most senior executive leadership. "While JK Rowling is the creator of Harry Potter, and we are bringing that to life with the power of Portkey, in many places, she’s a private citizen also. And that means she’s entitled to express her personal opinion on social media. I may not agree with her, and I might not agree with her stance on a range of topics, but I can agree that she has the right to hold her opinions."The statement follows months of controversy around Rowling's views on trans women and gender identity, which have drawn condemnation from the likes of Harry Potter actors Emma Watson and Daniel Radcliffe among others. Warner Bros. has been drawn into the debate because of its somewhat uncertain connection with Rowling. WB Interactive has a licensing deal in place for Harry Potter, and makes franchise games under the Portkey Games label.
Following this week’s brief trip to Japan, Microsoft Flight Simulator is already booking its next intercontinental clean-up flight. It seems the gigantic flight sim has decided to take on the United States of America for its next World Update, bringing a similar mix of photogrammetry-improved cities and higher-resolution terrain in another World Update before the end of the year.
If fancy somewhere new and exciting to clean after six months tidying your flat day after day after day, Train Station Renovation might do it for you. It’s a game about fixing stations up to be all shiny and new, clearing away rubbish, filth, satanic shrines, and graffiti, fixing machinery, replacing furniture and fittings, and redecorating. It’s more like the canned cleanup of House Flipper than the physics-simulated chaos of Viscera Cleanup Detail, which isn’t what I’m personally after, but I know our Alice Bee dug it. Today, after five months in early access, the game has launched in full.
Aching fingers? Throbbing headache? Feeling burnt out on massive videogames? I’m no doctor, but it sounds like you need a prescription for some cheap indie darlings. That’s the idea behind Ten Minute Games (or 10mg), at least, with the indie collective today announcing plans to dish out their first bundle of tiny, experimental games later this month.
I’d phone a doctor if that headache keeps up, though. Might be serious.

The CG Resident Evil films may not be cinematic masterpieces, but they are fun opportunities to spend more time with the series’ beloved characters and expand upon the world itself. A new CG series (a departure from the usual films) for Netflix was recently announced at TGS titled Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness.
Thanks to a brief teaser, it has been confirmed that the series will reunite Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield (the star duo of Resident Evil 2) once more.
Since it is planned to be a series as opposed to a single movie, there could be even more room for old characters to pop up. But which ones could appear?
While the campaign may not be the primary reason you’re interested in Star Wars: Squadrons, it’s absolutely well-worth your time.
Publisher Annapurna Interactive has announced that lavish looking adventure title The Pathless will launch alongside PlayStation 5 hardware in November. It will also be available to purchase on PS4, PC via Epic Games Store, and on iOS via Apple Arcade.
Developed by ABZU creators Giant Squid, The Pathless will allow players to explore a beautiful open-world environment, ranging from icy tundras and deep forests to dank caves and peaceful meadows. It's kind of strange to log into Fallout 76 these days and see how far the game has come since the ignoble mess of a state it launched in.
We've gotten multiple free expansions and improvements: most notably a ton of bug vacuuming and quality of life upgrades for both solo and multiplayer modes. It can feel like a completely different game at times. A still flawed Fallout experience, but something new all the same.
Bethesda has been teasing a completely new customization option for a while, but now we actually get to see the fruits of their labor. "C.A.M.P. [I hate typing that out] Shelters" are going to be a thing, which, roughly translated, allows players to build underground instanced homes. Because it's in a completely controlled space, it allows both players and the designers to have more freedom in terms of what is allowed to happen.
These spaces are going to be added "near the end of this year," and will allow for three different sizes: the "Utility Room," the "Vault Lobby" and the "Vault Atrium." The former room will be unlocked after a short quest titled "Home Expansion," but there are provisos. The lobby is going to be free for Fallout 1st members, after which it'll cost an undisclosed amount of Atoms (currency). The Vault Atrium, described as the "largest" room, "will be available for Atom purchase immediately on patch day."
Budding tech industries move quickly and often leave prior products in the dust: it's the nature of the business.
I've said this a lot having covered every major gaming-oriented headset since the first consumer version of the Rift was released in 2016, but: "buyer beware." Not only are headset manufacturers constantly on edge, but developers are closing down VR studios in recent years after the expected VR boom didn't match their expectations.
Even still, VR is in a very good spot at this point from a consumer standpoint. So many studios (defunct or otherwise) have contributed to the landscape in a positive way, to the point where we are spoiled for choice when it comes to quality VR games.
The Oculus Quest was one of the most ideal ways to experience that newfound glory, especially if you count the option to tether your headset to your PC for extra juice. The Oculus Quest 2 reaffirms what I said last year about the Quest: this is looking more and more like the future of VR, now.

Back in late August, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition arrived with some unfortunate multiplayer issues. Square Enix has since apologized for it, vowing to fix the connection problems among other lingering bugs. The day has come for one of those things to be quelled further.
Version 1.0.2 has launched (initially for Switch, then PS4), which fixes several hangups beyond the connection woes. You can now skip boss and Myrrh drop cutscenes, which were exceedingly annoying when they all added up and you were seeing the same things over and over again (all remasters should make basically everything skippable).
It also ironically fixed a multiplayer bug that allows certain players to see hidden locations if they were in a game with someone who already found them. It also crushed an infinite item dupe bug and contains "various bug fixes."
So if any of those things were annoying you, they should be better now. As for the sweeping multiplayer alterations, that is likely still to come. The decision to region lock multiplayer is still mind-boggling: you'd think with cross-play and cross-regional capabilities, a lot of these "can't find a player" issues would solve themselves.
