Forget dodging spikes or slaying foes – Rogue Legacy was a game about family. Specifically, training up your kids to be better dungeon-divers than you so they’d be ready to take up your mantle after an unfortunate spelunking accident. Fitting, then, that Rogue Legacy would establish its own legacy. Seven years after Rogue Legacy first picked up a sword, Rogue Legacy 2 is preparing to take up that rusted mantle and live up to its family name with yet another trip down the dungeons.
Good Job! was a game that was introduced to the world just a few days ago during the unexpected Nintendo Direct Mini, when it shadow-dropped onto the Switch eShop without much fanfare at all.
Good Job! is an indie title developed by Paladin Studios and published by Nintendo. This puzzler has the player controlling a child of a big-time CEO. He lets his kid into the corporate office to take care of some tasks with each stage representing a different objective.
The visual style can be compared to those stick figure flash animations that we all used to watch back in the day and because of its wacky physics engine, actually completing these tasks can be quite hilarious but most of the time, it’s just frustrating.
April is the month of Grass-type Pokemon which means it’s time for them to be in the spotlight. To kick off the month, the GO Battle League April 2020 patch notes were revealed to focus mainly on changes to grass mons and moves in Pokemon GO.
First, the list of moves that are going to be changing consists of three Grass buffs and three non-Grass nerfs. Leaf Tornado gets a nice buff that lowers your opponent’s attack.
However, the big buffs are for Bullet Seed which generates energy faster and Energy Ball which charges faster and can lower defense. This is sure to help a bunch of Grass-types to become more competitive in GO Battle League.
Ancient Power and Silver Wind have both been nerfed in terms of overall damage output. Ominous Wind also received this nerf on top of an increase in the amount of energy required to use the attack.
The nerfing of Silver Wind, in theory, will be a change that helps Grass-types in Pokemon GO PvP battles. Yet, the lack of Bug-types that are competitively viable essentially makes this change have no impact.
The nerfs of Ominous Wind and Ancient Power are likely to make a big impact on Altered Forme Giratina. It’ll also hit Origin Form Giratina, but its best tools in Shadow Claw and Shadow Ball are still intact.
Here is the full list of move changes from The Pokemon GO Team:
Bullet Seed – This Grass-type Fast Attack now generates energy more quickly.
Energy Ball – This Grass-type Charged Attack now reaches full charge more quickly and has a chance of lowering the opponent’s Defense by one stage.
Leaf Tornado – This Grass-type Charged Attack now has a chance of decreasing your opponent’s Attack by one or two stages.

Hey, are you out and about? You're not supposed to be out and about! You're supposed to be home, sleeping all day and playing video games. That's what responsible adults do right now.
So, for the homebound, here's a game about being inside a house (once you move Christmas Duck). Gone Home is half of this week's Epic Games Store freebie giveaway extravaganza.
The other half parallels Gone Home's exploration, but with infinite more combat. Action-adventure game Hob is also free on the Epic Games Store this week.
Wait, there's more! Drawful 2 and (the newly-launched) Totally Reliable Delivery Service are also free on Epic right now. They're not a part of the weekly giveaway promotion, they're just free. Don't ask questions.
Speaking of asking questions, next week's free game is Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments.
Drawful 2, Gone Home, Hob, Totally Reliable Delivery Service,
Signalis isn't your everyday survival horror game – not even close. It's drawing from icons like Resident Evil and Silent Hill as much as it is Blame! and Ghost in the Shell, and it's low-poly to great effect.
According to creator rose-engine, Signalis is a "Eurasian cold-war retro-tech sci-fi take on cosmic horror." I love that specificity. I also love the disparate but still cohesively unnerving art direction.
A bit about the game's premise: "After her ship crash-landed on a remote, snow-covered planet, the Replika Elster is looking for her missing crew member. In her search she wanders through the ruins of a seemingly abandoned underground labor camp, surreal visions of cosmic horror, and flashbacks to a past that isn't hers. As the lines between reality and dream blur, Elster has to venture into the depths below the planet's surface to learn what has happened to her and why."
"Combat is only a last resort since ammunition is scarce and enemies are not easily defeated, so players must carefully choose when to fight and when to run." That's music to my ears. Make us sweat.
Signalis is coming to Steam, but it doesn't have a release date in mind. Wishlist it so you don't forget.
This weekend kicks off an absolute assault of spring sales, and if you're looking to save money on some games, then there hasn't been a better time in quite a while. The Xbox One store just revealed its slate of spring deals, all of which are available to snag now. Hundreds of games are on sale, including this year's Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot as well as some of the best games of recent years like Red Dead Redemption 2, Resident Evil 2, and Mortal Kombat 11.
Annapurna Interactive, the publisher behind the critically acclaimed likes of What Remains of Edith Finch and Outer Wilds, has announced that If Found, its visual novel about "going home, coming out and erasing everything", will launch on Steam, Mac, and iOS on 19th May.
If Found is the work of Irish developer Dreamfeel, and its story begin (or perhaps more accurately, ends) on 31st December 1993, on the night that a black hole threatens to destroy the world. Here, in the remains of a dilapidated mansion on Achill Island, County Mayo, a young woman named Kasio destroys her diary - erasing memories of her return home to Ireland, "her conflict with her family, the friends she makes, and the challenges she goes through".
As you'd expect given its "visual novel" label, If Found is a predominantly text-driven narrative adventure, albeit one that's ably supported by some wonderfully striking, lightly animated visuals - blending a range of elements, from pencil sketches and ink to water colour - as Kasio revisits, and relinquishes, her past in the face of her rapidly diminishing future.

As part of Amazon's gigantic push into gaming, the company is developing a new Lord of the Rings MMO with developers who previously worked on Destiny, WoW, and Planetside, among others. The game is in development at the company's Irvine, California studio, and now some of the first details about the game have emerged thanks to job listings.
A job ad for a senior character artist on the Lord of the Rings project calls for a person who will help create what sounds like a new art style for the game. The listing states, "We're seeking an art style for our game that is 'different-at-a-glance' from the games and movies that have come before us."
The listing goes on: "We need an artist with bravery and artistic skills to help us do something new."
Continue Reading at GameSpotAmazon could soon be a force to be reckoned with in the world of gaming, as the company is said to have invested "hundreds of millions" of dollars into trying to become a major player in the games business. The New York Times reported that figure, and also noted that Amazon's new push into gaming represents the company's "most significant investment" in original entertainment since it launched a movie and TV business with Amazon Studios.
Amazon's film and TV business has enjoyed a lot of success over the years, including the acclaimed TV show Transparent and the Oscar-winning movie Manchester by the Sea. Amazon's The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel also won high acclaim, picking up multiple Golden Globe and Emmy wins.
Amazon is looking for success in gaming, too, and this begins with the launch of its first original game, the sci-fi shooter Crucible. The game, which is developed by Relentless Studios in Seattle, is due to launch in May, following delays related to COVID-19. Amazon is also working on multiple MMOs, including the 17th century New World (from Amazon's Irvine, California studio) and a Lord of the Rings MMO from the same studio in southern California.

Most Animal Crossing players have come across in-game items that they adore. Whether it's a hat that blocks out the sun or a towering monster statue that guards your home, Nintendo has created a deep well of content for players to enjoy. And that's not all. Players can also make their own custom designs that can be shared with anyone in the world for free. The custom designs show off the player's artistic abilities, and often bring licensed content into the game, such as an Overwatch t-shirt or a painting of a certain goose.
Custom content can be added in two ways. The first is NookLink, which is a part of the Nintendo Switch Online service found on your real-world phone (which requires Switch Online subscription). NookLink allows you to scan QR codes using your phone's camera. Once a code is scanned correctly, bring up your fake phone in Animal Crossing: New Horizons and go to custom designs to find the item of note.
The second way just takes a little playing (and a Switch Online subscription). Once you unlock the Able Sisters' shop, you'll find a terminal that leads to the Custom Designs Portal. Here, you can enter a code (as seen on the images below) to download a specific item or see what a specific designer has made. You can also use this portal to upload and share your own marvelous creations.
When I think of "dungeon crawlers," I tend to picture very specific imagery – and Going Under, a "satirical dungeon crawler about exploring the cursed ruins of failed tech startups," isn't it. It's darling as hell!
The creator, Aggro Crab, struck gold with the game's premise. "Failed businesses no longer just cease to exist – they sink beneath the earth, and their employees are cursed to wander the halls for eternity as monsters. It's your duty to put these monsters out of their misery and repossess their assets."
We're going to face "failed startups themed off of gig workers, dating sites, and cryptocurrency."
There's a gif on the Steam page for Going Under that shows the protagonist, an unpaid intern, jabbing a goblin boy in the head with a broom. I can't stop watching it. The thwacks are so satisfying.
I'm also partial to the dodge-heavy boss battles and the notion that you can pick up skills on your dungeon runs, use them a bunch, and get them "endorsed" so you can equip them from the get-go.
Going Under is heading to PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in September with assistance from Team17. There's a demo on Steam right now if you're raring to go; otherwise, let's keep tabs on this.
Developer Red Hook Studios' brilliant but punishing Lovecraft-inspired strategy RPG, Darkest Dungeon, is getting a brand-new chunk of DLC next month. It's called The Butcher's Circus and, rather unexpectedly, adds PvP arena battles to the previously single-player game.
Up until now, Darkest Dungeon, which initially launched in 2016, has remained a staunchly solo pursuit, tasking players with delving ever-deeper into the antediluvian corners of an ancient hamlet and its surrounding environs - seeking treasure, avoiding traps, and battling cosmic horrors in time-honoured turn-based fashion.
Its unquestionable allure was found in the sheer thrill of besting its cliff-like difficulty curve, which delighted in sending party members to the brink of madness, imbuing them with (usually) negative quirks and making already tough challenges even harder - in turn forcing a stressfully satisfying balancing act between deeper exploration and hero preservation.
Following an April Fool's Day tease that made its veracity uncertain, developer Cellar Door Games has confirmed that, yes, it really is working on a sequel to its superb Castlevania-esque rogue-like exploratory platformer Rogue Legacy.
The original Rogue Legacy, if you're unfamiliar, launched all the way back in 2013, and won immediate acclaim for its solid, procedurally generated action-platforming, bolstered by a compelling upgrade loop, and a nifty system that saw each subsequent play-through undertaken by one of your previous, now-dead hero's heirs.
Wonderfully, each new descendant was imbued with a distinctive mix of classes, abilities, and traits, combining to make each new play-through feel surprisingly, refreshingly different; new heroes might become tiny in stature or super strong, while others might be dyslexic (jumbling up all in-game text), colour blind (turning the world black and white), and a whole lot more.

If you've given up on finding the illustrious tarantula island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, we have good news: You can just make your own. Instead of spending 2,000 Nook Miles per ticket on the chance of finding the rare deserted island that's overrun with these spiders, which are desirable for how much they can be sold for, any deserted island can become a tarantula island if you just know how.
The key to this method is understanding how the spawn mechanics in Animal Crossing: New Horizons work. Bugs require certain conditions to spawn, including months of the year, the weather, and the environment. Tarantulas require it to be nighttime (7 PM - 4 AM specifically) and during the correct months. In the Northern Hemisphere that's November through April, while Southern Hemisphere players will need to be playing from May to October. You can always change your time and date in the Switch settings to fit these requirements, although time-skipping can have unintended consequences.
Tarantulas can be sold for a whopping 8,000 bells each (though you should put your first one in the museum of course), which means you can make some serious bells with this method. Make sure to purchase all the inventory upgrades first to get the best results, and ensure you aren't carrying more than you need to.
After dabbling in the horror genre with P.T., which was actually a teaser for Silent Hills, Hideo Kojima wants to create another horror game down the road. He wants this game to be so scary that you poop your pants. Peeing your pants is not enough. It must be poop.
"I would like to make another horror game someday. Something that uses a revolutionary method to create terror, that doesn't just make you pee your pants, but crap them. I already have ideas in mind," he told BAFTA as part of his induction into organization's fellowship program.
Kojima also reflected on the phenomenon that was P.T. The game succeeded and resonated so strongly because it played on different elements of the unknown, Kojima said.
Continue Reading at GameSpotThe Last of Us: Part II actor Troy Baker, who plays Joel in the series, has shared some tantalizing details about what to expect in terms of Joel's story arch and the game overall. Unlike the original game, you play as Ellie in the sequel, but Joel will still have time and space to grow. Baker teased that we will learn more about who Joel is as a person throughout the story of Part II.
"What we've done such a good job of doing [in The Last of Us 2], is to continue to peel back layers and learn more about him," Baker told Fandom. "I even learned more about Joel and I’m the guy that walked into [the Last of Us audition] and said, 'I know the truth about Joel!' I knew his truth back then, but [after The Last of Us 2], I know even more of [Joel's] truth."
For the overall story of Part II, Baker said he hopes the narrative challenges players' expectations of "what the game is, what the world is, who the characters are--everything."
Continue Reading at GameSpotIn Animal Crossing: New Horizons, seasonal events no longer just occur on one day of the year; the now run for a few weeks in the lead up for the event. From April 1 to 12, a strange bunny-like creature, Zipper T. Bunny, has shown up on everyone’s islands. Zipper has hidden some eggs around the island as part of the Easter event, but players are finding that these eggs are less hidden and more the only thing on the island anymore.
All over the island there are new colorful eggs to find and various egg-related recipes to discover. At least that’s how the event is supposed to go. Instead, players are finding nothing but eggs. Whether it's fishing, digging up a fossil, chopping trees, or popping balloons, everything has been seemingly replaced by eggs.
Some people have opened their games to find that Zipper has replaced what would have been a full Money Tree with eggs. Understandably, players are upset at this strange rabbit ruining the delicate ecosystem of their island.
