World's End Club is a new survival adventure game, and it has some pedigree behind it. It comes from the minds of Kotaro Uchikoshi and Kazutaka Kodaka, both known for some of the more twisted and entertaining narrative-focused adventures with the Zero Escape and Danganronpa series, respectively. To get a taste of their new mystery that follows a group of 12 friends, a free demo is now available on Switch that covers the first chapter of the game. The best part? Your save data will carry over when the full game launches on May 28, netting you some bonuses for playing early.

According to publisher NIS, the demo is available in English, Arabic, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, Traditional Chinese, and Turkish.

To celebrate the release of the demo, NIS America also unveiled a new, intense trailer that details how tasks work and why completing them is more complicated than you may think. Apparently, there can only be one winner for the prize of a magic key, so while you're encouraged to work in groups, someone could have ulterior motives, trying to thwart your progress... or even attempt to murder you. Yikes! Watch the trailer above to see for yourself.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition

Whether you're returning to the Normandy once more or joining the fight against the Reapers for the first time, the upcoming Mass Effect experience is sure to be Legendary.

Being a remaster, the changes to the original trilogy aren't to the level of a remake, but that doesn't mean that what has been tweaked doesn't make a huge impact. With all of the DLC included, previous long-standing glitches finally patched, and more, players can expect a refined experience from a franchise that has made long-lasting waves in the gaming community. But how does it run?

New Fable Will Use Forza’s Game Engine

2 years 11 months ago

Fable is going to be a next-gen experience and Developer Playground Games is committing to that vision by building the next chapter in the beloved franchise with a state-of-the-art game engine.

Every year, the Forza engine is widely showcased and tends to boast some incredibly realistic eye-popping visuals. Editor-in-Chief Andrew Reiner gave the last console-entry in the racing series, Forza 4, a 9.25 in no small part due to its “stunning details'' and “natural beauty.” Hopefully, the new Fable will follow suit!

According to IGN, a Software Engineer job posting revealed that Playground Games’ famous engine, ForzaTech, is being used on three large titles (possibly including both the Horizon and Motorsport series) that span across two of Xbox’s most beloved franchises. The listing also states, “In addition to adding new features like raytracing to support the next console generation, we are also enriching the toolset to support an open world action RPG – Fable.”

Sci-fi horror spruce-up Observer: System Redux comes to PS4 and Xbox One in July

2 years 11 months ago

Observer: System Redux, the enhanced edition of Layers of Fear developer Bloober Team's acclaimed sci-fi horror, will be making the leap to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on 16th July.

The original Observer, released back in 2017, tells the story of detective Daniel Lazarski (voiced by the late Rutger Hauer) as he investigates a dilapidated Kraków apartment block, circa 2084, in search of his estranged son. What follows is a compelling blend of dystopian investigation adventure and hallucinatory nightmare as Lazarski, using his Observer talents, delves into the minds of witnesses in search of clues.

Eurogamer called it a "splendid hybrid of CSI, cyberpunk and Silent Hill woven around a potent central performance" on its initial release, awarding it a Recommend badge in the process.

New Pokemon Snap's Blastoise is one of its most magical moments

2 years 11 months ago

There are plenty of hidden events in New Pokemon Snap. Some of them are pretty intricate, requiring the same sort of timing and positioning that the original Nintendo 64 game did.

Blastoise, by contrast, is not so secretive. The game essentially points you to it. But it is absolutely one of the best moments I've seen in this new Snap. (Just a heads up, there will be mild spoilers to follow—I'll try to keep it to a minimum, but if you don't want to know, best to bounce out here.)

After completing the story of New Pokemon Snap, you unlock a number of new features and post-game goals to chase. You also get permission from Professor Mirror to visit the Reef area during the evening, which is a pretty unique opportunity. While other biomes have Day and Night variations, Evening is a really interesting time to visit the reef—it's a "golden hour" chance for Pokemon photography.

While rolling through this new area, the game will draw your attention back towards the whirlpool. This was there during the day, but a scan hints that it seems like something large is at the center of the whirlpool. After chucking a bevy of Fluffruit and Illumina orbs into the center, I saw a shape emerge: a spinning Blastoise shell, which soon after assumed the Superman stance and blasted off at the speed of light.

Harness The Power Of Darkness With A Life-Sized Millennium Puzzle From Yu-Gi-Oh

2 years 11 months ago

The Yu-Gi-Oh series has its fair share of awesome collectibles. Whether you're talking about the broad range of collectible cards the series is centered on or the various figures and statues featuring the likes of Yugi, Kaiba, Blue Eyes White Dragon, and more, the devout Yu-Gi-Oh fan can easily show off their love for the property. However, perhaps one of the coolest (and surprisingly affordable) collectibles of Yu-Gi-Oh is now available for pre-order.

Often seen dangling around Yugi's neck, the Millennium Puzzle is a powerful artifact in the world of Yu-Gi-Oh. Announced earlier this year, the Millennium Puzzle model kit is available for pre-order now. Not only is this model kit life-sized at nearly three inches tall, but you actually have to assemble the pieces. While the kit includes an instruction manual on how to remove the pieces from the packaging and assemble the individual pieces, you have to rely on your puzzle-solving skills and intuition to actually assemble the Millennium Puzzle.

So, Is It Safe To Play Returnal Now?

2 years 11 months ago

Over the past 24 hours, Returnal, the PS5-exclusive action game about getting repeatedly bullied by space tentacle monsters, has weathered a serious patch of turbulence. Two patches in 12 hours. Myriad reports of corrupted save data. Me, getting killed over and over again by an irritating boss. Okay, fine, maybe that…

Open world vampire survival game V Rising sounds fangtastic

2 years 11 months ago

Battlerite developers Stunlock Studios have come up with a different take on the online survival genre. In V Rising, every player is a vampire. You start with nothing but a mothball ridden cloak and a broken fang dangling from your mouth (I assume), and build up from there. Every neck gnawed is a step on the goal to building your own castle and crafting a Dracula-like legacy.

Should Remasters Fix Bad Parts Of Games?

2 years 11 months ago

Final Fantasy X

Final Fantasy X is one of my favorite games of all time. I love the combat, the story, and even some of the strange hoops you have to jump through in order to obtain the best weapons and summons in the game. I'm currently replaying Final Fantasy X (I think my seventh or eighth playthrough), and as I gear up to launch my final assault on Sin, I'm once again reminded of how downright awful some of the optional quests you have to complete are if you want to max out your characters.

Sure, playing so much blitzball that I hear the theme song in my sleep or collecting monsters in a multitude of different areas isn't what I consider an amazing time, but they're fine for optional quests. It's when I decide to pursue the Celestial Weapons of Lulu and Tidus that I really start to question my enduring love for this game. Dodging 200 lightning bolts is incredibly tedious and often frustrating, but the Chocobo racing minigame, where you need to avoid the most aggressive birds in gaming history while collecting balloons and racing to the finish line, is downright infuriating.

Metro Exodus heading to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in enhanced form this June

2 years 11 months ago

Metro Exodus, the acclaimed third instalment in developer 4A Games horror-tinged first-person shooter series, will be making its way to Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 on 18th June.

Exodus once again catapults players into a post-apocalyptic Russia - a predominantly subterranean world of survival inspired by the novels of celebrated author Dmitry Glukhovsky - this time adding open-ended overground sandbox environments to complement the series' traditionally linear slaying and scavenging. Eurogamer liked it a lot when it came to PS4, Xbox One, and PC in 2019, slapping it with a Recommended badge and calling it "an atmospheric, characterful voyage across a ruined Russia."

4A Games has just released a much-enhanced version of Metro Exodus for PC - one with enough cutting-edge bells and whistles that a ray tracing capable graphics card is mandatory - and the studio's PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S editions also promise to deliver a notable upgrade over the previous-generation originals.

Ubisoft Reveals Free Tom Clancy's The Division Game With Heartland

2 years 11 months ago

While Ubisoft continues to update The Division 2, the studio has announced two new ways to expand its Tom Clancy universe. The bigger of the two reveals is a free-to-play new game called Tom Clancy's The Division Heartland, a completely standalone experience that Red Storm Studio is helming. The second is a mobile game centering around The Division, though details are scarce at this time.

Tom Clancy's The Division Heartland will be free-to-play for console, PC, and Cloud platforms alike. No release date information is ready to share at the time of the announcement, but Ubisoft did mention that it targets a 2021-2022 launch window. No new story details are available for this or the mobile adventure, but the associated comics based on the games (which are based on the novels) prove that there is plenty of lore to explore within this universe.

Ubisoft also promises in its latest update that the two new Tom Clancy projects don't mean that The Division 2 is all wrapped up. The studio is hard at work on brand new content coming to the sequel with Ubisoft Massive and Ubisoft Bucharest efforts. "While it's too early to discuss any specific details," reads the latest blog post from Ubisoft, "this update will include an entirely new game mode for The Division franchise and new methods for leveling your agents with an emphasis on increasing build variety and viability."

V Rising is a vampire action-adventure game where you get your own castle

2 years 11 months ago

V Rising caught my eye with its talk of becoming a vampire lord, raising up a castle, fending off supernatural creatures and vampire hunters, and fighting alongside other players. Oh, and the title cracks me up. Let's just say that when I think of "V," my mind doesn't immediately go to Dracula.

The PC action-adventure game popped up on Steam this week — no release date just yet — but the developer, Stunlock Studios, says it's planning a beta "later this year." You might recognize that name from Battlerite if you have vivid memories of the MOBA and/or arena brawler craze in the last decade.

While the trailer isn't that meaningful on its own, there are screenshots, too. You get your own horse!

PvP in V Rising.Coming off of something as combat-focused as Battlerite, I'll have high expectations for these vampire duels.

At a glance, V Rising looks like an isometric point-and-click action-RPG — but actually, we'll use WASD controls for movement and cursor-based aiming for skill-shots, according to Stunlock. In the context of an arena brawler like Battlerite, that gameplay style makes total sense here. It should feel good.
