FaZe Clan Is Launching An SNL-style Show On Twitch

FaZe Clan, the esports and entertainment organisation, has announced it will be launching its own Saturday Night Live inspired series, named unFaZed.

The series will be a weekly show that will air on the live streaming platform Twitch every Thursday, starting on June 2, and is targeted toward the Gen Z audience. UnFaZed is described as "the first-ever variety franchise born out of internet culture," that will feature a recurring cast of internet personalities, but hosted by a rotating roster of guests. Each episode will also be around three to four hours long and include scripted and non-scripted segments.

FaZe Clain is also producing the previously announced Big Brother-style show called FaZe1: The Warehouse, a competition series that will be live-streamed 24 hours a day for 15 days straight on Twitch, starting on May 5.

“Those are two tentpoles for us and we plan on doing multiple seasons,” said Bill McCullough, FaZe Clan’s executive vice president and head of content.

"Some of it is going to be on our YouTube channel, some of it we’re going to take off platform and try and sell to other distributors in an effort to kind of grow our audience and broaden the platforms and the reach that we have and maybe expose a new audience to FaZe Clan. And that’s happening both in the unscripted and scripted world."

Steam Deck Firmware Update Makes Offline Mode More Convenient

An update for the Steam Deck makes it even more Switch-like by making it more convenient to take it with you on the go. The patch notes for the April 5 client update say that Offline Mode will no longer require you to restart Steam. That would seem to effectively make it a toggle, meaning you can pick up your Steam Deck and take it with you away from a network connection more easily.

Other changes listed in the patch notes include some additional features studios can use when working on Steam Deck compatibility. Developers can now add support for showing the equivalent of other controller layouts like Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch on the Steam button footer. A new section in the App Properties section allows users to provide compatibility feedback, and a callout feature will alert users when a developer has added comments about compatibility. Those changes come among several other bug fixes and usability updates for the dual trackpad.

The Steam Deck is Valve's handheld PC hardware, with a form factor that's similar (albeit bigger) to the Nintendo Switch. In GameSpot's Steam Deck review, Alessandro Barbosa called it a "wonderfully constructed and powerful portable PC," hailing both its out-of-the-box functionality and the ability to customize it to do much more.

Previously, preorders were only going out to those in the Q1 group. Now that we've passed into April, though, Q2 emails have started to go out, and Valve has said it will be ramping up preorders with emails now going out weekly or even sometimes twice weekly.

Two Point Campus mixes strategy with eccentricity

Ah, university. A place to study. A place to find yourself. A place to go to gastronomy class to make a giant-sized burger, pop to a lecturer for private tuition, snooze in the library, take another quick nap in the corridor, bust a move at the union party, and maybe even blow a love trumpet.

Or maybe that’s just from my experience of Two Point Campus. This is the follow-up to Two Point Hospital, from Two Point Games. It allows for the studying, the burger, the private tuition and even the love trumpet. You're tasked with building and managing a dream university, which means that you deal with students in all their lurid variety. It’s a sim game that understands university isn’t just about studying, it’s for learning about life.

As such, I found the game focused as much on extra-curricular activities and making friends as on going to class. There’s a much bigger emphasis on relationships compared with Two Point Hospital. People are no longer simple fodder for a parade of weird illnesses; students have personalities, likes, dislikes. It makes sense. This isn’t a quick hospital stay, but three academic years where I watch my students grow and flourish, receiving acknowledgment of my (and their) accomplishments in end-of-year awards.

Azur Lane Getting New North Carolina Bunny Figure By FREEing

Azur Lane is still extremely popular in Japan, and its shipgirls continue to be portrayed with a large number of figures. A new one has just been made available for pre-order.

It portrays North Carolina and it comes from FREEing, part of its popular line of bunny girl figures. You can pre-order her on Ami Ami for 33,400 yen, which translates approximately into $270.

The price isn’t too surprising considering that this line comes in a rather massive 1/4 scale which means that we’re looking at a 460mm-tall figure.

The release window is January 2022, just a month later than her sister figure portraying Washington.

The prototype is sculpted by Morikura in cooperation with Dragoncraft and painted by yozakura.

You can check what the figure looks like in the gallery below, including a picture with Washington.

Two Point Campus Hands-on Preview: An A+ Effort in the Making

If you are a fan of the simulation genre, chances are good that you already know of Two Point Studios’ excellent work in the genre. Following on from Two Point Hospital, the team is gearing up for the upcoming release of Two Point Campus. Despite announcing a delay from its original May 17 date to August 9, the work-in-progress hands-on preview I had was already quite impressive.

At first glance, the visual stylings remain. After all, this is set in the Two Point universe, so expect the little people running around on the university grounds to look somewhat familiar. However, there is certainly more going on when you zoom in, with more work being done on giving them more emotions and expressions to truly reflect the ups and downs of campus life.

Two Point Campus Delayed to August 9

Your attempt at building the perfect school is going to have to wait, as Two Point Studios have revealed that their latest project, Two Point Campus, will be delayed, moving from its original May 17 release date to a new one of August 9.

This news was shared with us during our hands-on preview of Two Point Campus, and subsequently announced officially. The additional time will hopefully give the team more runway to refine and improve what already looked and played like a great experience.

If you were not familiar with Two Point Campus, it is the second sim title in the Two Point universe, moving from the hospital to the campus, where players will be in charge of guiding their students from enrollment to graduation.

Pokémon Go Mega Evolution looks to be getting a much-needed overhaul

Pokémon Go's much-maligned Mega Evolution system is getting an overhaul, according to several recent datamines of in-game files.

The way Pokémon Go has handled Mega Evolution - a popular mechanic from the monster franchise's main games - has been criticised since its arrival in August 2020, although it has been improved over time.

These upcoming potential changes - which, to be clear, are yet to be finalised and announced by developer Niantic - seem like they'll go a lot further to address recurrent gripes and encourage more regular Mega Evolution as part of daily play.

In a new video for Starfield, Bethesda has shown off a robotic companion that will accompany players on planetary expeditions.

The VASCO is described as being built by the company Lunar Robotics to serve the Constellation corporation's pilots as a utilitarian heavy industrial machine and is well-suited to the rigors of space travel.

"VASCO's design is based on a standard type-8 bipedal chassis, capable of traversing rough terrain with all the survival gear and payload capacity needed for extended overland journeys," Starfield lead artist Istvan Pely said in the video. "VASCO does have defensive capabilities, should the need arise, but his primary role is peaceful."

THQ Nordic Will Host Not-E3 Stream On August 12

E3 is canceled, but that isn't stopping game publishers from holding their own digital showcases, and THQ Nordic is one of the first to announce an official date. On August 12, the publisher--which has steadily grown into a behemoth over the last several years--will reveal "several brand-new games" for a variety of players, including light licensed games and "gritty" experiences.

The show will air on August 12 at 12 PM PT / 3 PM ET, with a HandyGames-hosted pre-show happening before that time. It will stream on the official THQ Nordic YouTube channel, Twitch channel, and Steam page, with streamers welcome to co-stream it on Twitch.

Only a few games were officially confirmed for the show: the previously revealed Outcast 2 and Jagged Alliance 3. With such a big catalog, it's tough to say what THQ Nordic will announce or show, but one franchise that seems prepped for a new game is Darksiders. Darksiders 3 released back in 2018, and though the spin-off prequel Darksiders Genesis is more recent, it was developed by a separate studio.

Elder Scrolls Online Adds A New Pet Cat That Is More Than It Seems

Bethesda has released a new purchasable Elder Scrolls Online add-on, a familiar-looking feline named Catwell, who appears to be a reference to an old Elder Scrolls character

The developer revealed the latest optional player pet on Twitter, which is now available on the Crown Store for a limited-time, showing Catwell the cat wearing kitchenware as body armor and a helmet. "There’s something in the eyes of this feline friend that seems familiar, but we can’t quite put our finger on it," the developer said.

Players have discovered that Catwell is actually a feline version of the Elder Scrolls character Sir Cadwell. As the NPC's Wiki page explains, Sir Cadwell is a "cheerful and endearingly mad lost soul" and was formerly known as Cadwell the Betrayer, a champion and knight of time long past. The character also wears a similiar metal pot as a helmet, so it's clear that Catwell is an ode to the NPC.

He says the robot is meant for, well, everything – Vasco is great for space travel, on-land traversal, defensive needs, and more. Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga review: an inconsistent intergalactic collectathon

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga represents great value. All nine Star Wars films bundled up in bricks! But do its pieces really come together? Well, yes and no. The game is charming and breezy, offering plenty of locales and set pieces fans of the force will fawn over. Yet its episodes are wildly inconsistent, with stories told at lightspeed and open world hubs filled with so many collectible bricks it solidifies your brain to a lump of mortar.

Konami details eFootball 2022 v1.0 update due next week

Konami will attempt to salvage its struggling eFootball 2022 next week with the game's long-awaited v1.0.0 patch - which was originally set to arrive soon after launch last November.

eFootball - the new name for PES - arrived in a disastrous state late last year, despite Konami warning players it would arrive in extremely limited form akin to a demo.

Konami insisted the game would evolve over time, but players have been left waiting months for this v1.0.0 update to arrive. In the meantime, eFootball's mobile spin-off was postponed, and the game's controversial premium player pack was pulled from sale.

How the Guardians of the Galaxy Game's Cast Created Characters That Stood Apart from the MCU

Acting for Eidos Montreal’s Guardians of the Galaxy came with an almost unique challenge. Not only were the core cast members tasked with bringing digital avatars to life, they had to differentiate them from some of the most famous onscreen characters of the last decade. Peter Quill, Gamora, Drax the Destroyer, Rocket, and Groot – they’re all now major pop culture names thanks to their MCU counterparts, not to mention decades of comic book appearances.

But this isn’t an MCU game, nor a straight comic adaptation. Not in the slightest. We spoke to all five lead cast members for Guardians of the Galaxy to work out how they managed the balancing act of presenting players with new versions of beloved, familiar characters.

“We were told very early on that [the developers] did not want it to be the comic books, they did not want it to be the MCU versions of the characters,” said Jon McLaren, who plays Starlord. “They wanted us to take risks, try things and really push to make these characters our own.”

That’s exactly what the cast did.

“I chose not to go back and look at the movies,” said Kimberly-Sue Murray, who plays Gamora. “I didn’t want to be influenced because I knew we were going to do our own version.”

“The narrative team did such an incredible job of crafting a unique story and unique world that is completely separate from the comics and the MCU,” explained McLaren.

Without TV I have become fixated on the shipping lane outside my house

Regular readers will know that I have been complaining about moving to another country for some time. This move has now happened, but if you were hoping for an update on how I am getting on with a massive virtual jigsaw, you will be disappointed. Everything I own (bar the suitcase of clothes Mr. Ryanair allowed on the plane) has been held by customs. More monstrous is that my stuff actually cleared customs, but some absolute head-melter unrelated to me or my boxes of pens - and who, I am choosing to assume, tried to ship a load of high grade cocaine into Ireland - got the entire container stopped in Dublin.

This means that I have been without any TV for two weeks. Nor any books, video games, or even my big bag of crochet. We didn't get internet until two days ago. It is only by the grace of a technician looking at an HDMI cable stuck in our wall jack, stroking his chin, and then yanking the cable really hard that I'm talking to you now. In those two weeks, I discovered I am weak. But by a stroke of complete luck the new flat faces an busy shipping lane in an estuary. So I have also discovered a deep love for big boats and VesselFinder.
